Herryk was made of sturdier stuff; despite that, and despite his needling of Calder earlier in the day, Herryk was still uncertain about heights. It didn't help that he was a bulky giant of a boil; glancing down, Herryk couldn't rid of himself of the fact that he was high up on a spindly ladder-thing and the ground below him was very, very far down.
Great.
He decided to hang there like some kind of helpless giant ape for a few moments as he gathered his wits.

Unfortunately, in that almost-fall, Mitzi had gotten a good look below. So far below. So very, very far below.
Even once she had her handhold back, she found that she couldn't continue upward. In fact, she couldn't even get herself to go down. It was all she could do to just cling to the ladder and try not let her fear completely overtake her.
She had thought she could handle this, but clearly, that wasn't the case.

A few other students had attempted to climb up as well, and Shun lingered around, trying to decide if he wanted to try getting back up there now. Actually, it could probably wait. And so, he turned, getting ready to head elsewhere. However, with his larger blindspot now, he didn't see another reaper coming on down. This resulted in in him walking right into the other guy. Recoiling from the unexpected impact, he shook his head, then frowned when he realized what happened. "..Sorry," he mumbled. Damn his eye.

Alex looked up at the swinging ladder with raised eyebrows, and at the students who were trying, and apparently failing, at climbing to the top. It didn't even really look all that difficult, if Alexander was being honest with himself, but with the lack of his natural abilities, he wasn't so sure it was a good idea to try to be climbing anything.
But it was just so jack damned tempting.
And so, reaching up with cold and clumsy hands, he grabbed a hold of the ladder, and began his slow and steady climb upwards. It was harder then he thought it would be, his grip on the ladder not nearly as strong as it might have been had he been allowed to use his natural ability, but he still had his endurance, and perseverance on his side, so while the climb may have been incredibly and painfully slow, he still managed to steadily make his way towards the top.
There were a few occasions where he was forced to stop and find a way around a student who had found themselves stuck on the ladder, but he was able to overcome those obstacles as well.
Somehow, amazingly, he made it all of the way to the very top. It was an uplifting achievement for the boil, who didn't have many to boast about. As he pulled himself up and crawled forward away from the ladder, he rose shakily to his feet, rubbing his hands together as he had a good look around.
So this was the observation point! Well, he was certainly able to have a good look around at the surroundings from here, though mostly all he could see here treetops. There was also a group of war clan members as well, however, and he frowned, studying them, watching them as they began leaving the area, all quite heavily armed. Where were they all headed, and why did they all seem so excited about it? The entire thing just seemed a little odd to the boil, and he made sure to jot it down in his memory for later.
Arel had given them homework for this visit, after all.

There... were more people on the ladder. Roch blinked as he almost stepped on Herryk, then swung so he was on the opposite side of the dragaur. "Y'stuck, man?" he asked, almost evilly as he started climbing down right in front of the other boil. "Whatever you do, don't look down," he added as he went further down. "It's a hell of a long way to drop!" Yes, Roch was a jerk sometimes.

Herryk was suddenly reminded with startling clarity how much he didn't like Roch. "It is nice to see that Roch is still being Roch," Herryk hissed, rolling his eyes. "Just try not to look at Herryk's a** on the way down, Roch."

((Entering))
Sammy wasn't far behind Riley, she kept a solid pace scaling the ladders up along the way to the observation post. Still it didn't help that when a breeze floated by it seemed to send the whole ladder shivering.
"Say's the mindflayer with wings. What do I do when they shoot? I don't feel like being a pin cushion today." She shifted again looking down freezing up for a moment as she realized just how high she was. Pain might be minimal, optional, even ignored for an undead. But the displeasure of falling from this height, hitting the ground, and possibly breaking far too many bones to keep functioning and then live long enough not to dissipate?
That would really, really blow.
"Why did I agree to follow you up here again?"

"Jack, man, if I hurl on the people below us because of that statement, I'm totally blaming it on you!" he said, but he didn't look up, either. Then he blinked as he came face to face with a freaked out looking Mitzi. "Uh... y'know... if you're scared of heights you really shouldn't be tryin' to go up this ladder," he told her a bit stupidly.

Herryk grunted. No, he'd just have to come back later to try this. Heights didn't bother him but the prospect of falling did. He gave a concerned look to the ghoul nearby. "Does this ghoul need help? Herryk would be happy to assist."

Suddenly she heard Roch's voice, and she glanced up from where she was staring at her hands. On the one hand, she was so glad to see him... but on the other, being stuck here like this was incredibly humiliating. She felt her face flush. "I can do it," she mumbled. "Just... taking a break."And trying again later would probably be better than doing it now. So she carefully tried to take a step down the ladder... and when that worked she started slowly getting herself down. Just knowing Roch was there helped a lot. Once she was sure she could make it, she did glance up at the other boil who had offered help. "Thanks for the offer, I... I'm pretty sure I've got it now," she replied with a shaky smile.

When nearly all of the war warriors were gone from Alex's view, he turned his head, ready to do some actual observing of the land around him from the observation point. He began shuffling towards a ledge, further away from the ladder so that any students who might be making their way towards the top had room to get by him.
A flash of light suddenly caught his eye and his head snapped down towards it, pale eyes narrowing. What was that? He bent down and picked it up, holding it in the palm of his hand for a moment, unsure whether he should be keeping it or putting it back. He was here to study though, and to learn things, so eventually he convinced himself that it might be worth keeping, just in case it became useful later, and deposited the shiny into his pocket.
He then continued his way over to the ledge, and eased himself down, letting his feet dangle over as he looked out at the expanse of world around him. It was quite beautiful, really, and peaceful. It made him want to just let go, to relax and forget about all of the terrible things that had happened recently. He almost wished that Yin was up here with him, to share in this wonderful experience, but at the same time, it was almost nice to just be alone.
(( anybody who makes it to the top, feel free to give Alex a nudge but uh..not to hard please? XD ))

Thankfully, Thanatos was not someone to pick a fight, since he considered it a waste of energy that could be better spent on other modes of entertainment. At the apology, he chuckled lightly, "Apology accepted, although it might pay to be careful around here. A fall might result in more than just a bruise."
Biskoto tilted her head, staring at the reaper for the longest time before she broke into a wide, snakey grin, "It'ssss you! Hello again, darling!"
"You know him?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at his familiar, who seemed rather excited.
"Oh yesss! Ssssort of!" She nodded, "We sssspoke a little during the orientation! Didn't we, darling?" She turned towards the one-eyed reaper with a smile, her tongue flicking in and out of her mouth as she waited for a reply.

"That is an understatement," Shun said rather flatly while casually looking off the edge. Yes that was quite a fall. Granted, if one was lucky, they'd just dissipate upon impact before any real damage could be done. Hearing the snake, he nodded quietly in greeting. "That we have. I have also seen you in class once," he replied quietly. "... By the way. I'm Shun. Not.. 'darling'," he added neutrally. Pet names he was not quite used to. Nope.

Because I asked. Riley murmured deviously as another hail of arrows soared past her, sliding so close she could feel the feather on their backs against the skin of her face. These clansmen were not playing - that could have killed her.
She reached out and plucked Sammy off the ladder, floating back down to the platform. Come on. She muttered foully. Let us try again later when they are not so .. eager to kill off their guests.((exit))

"Did you?" Biskoto seemed rather surprised, reeling back in an animated fashion, "Well, do forgive me! My memory sssseeem to be failing me! Although that might be why you do ssssso very familiar to me."
When the reaper introduced himself, Thanatos couldn't help chuckling a bit, making no efforts in hiding his mild amusement; this guy either had no sense of humor, or his sense of humor was broken and needed fixing.
"And I am Thanatos," He extended out a hand before using his free hand to pet the snake's body, "And this is Biskoto. I'm afraid trying to get her to stop calling you darling is near impossible, Shun. Believe me... I've tried."
The snake almost looked like she could be pouting, "That you have, darling, that you have."
