Gwendolen's eyes widened at the sudden information. "Well this changes things..." She said looking at Dita. They weren't going to be able to stay the night here after all. Strength in numbers only went so far and if a skinwalker attacked Gwendolen knew that at least one of them would probably walk out with some serious injuries that she had no hope of healing. Their best bet now was to get back to her home. If they were attacked or injured there then they would be well cared for.
"My home is not too far from here." She said mostly to the new-comer. "It will be safe there. Come and help me with the blankets, Dita." Gwen had moved over to the pile and started separating the cloth. They would move faster if all of them carried some of the load. She assumed the terrified mare would come and made a smaller pile for her as she was already well worn out. "If you're coming with us then take these and keep close." She said to the stranger. There would be time for introductions later. Right now it was more important to get a move on.~*~~~***~~~*~ It was closer to sunrise than sunset by the time the three finally reached Gwendolen's home. Gwen was able to stay awake long enough to explain things to her mother but the other two had drifted off as soon as they dropped their blankets. Not long after her mother had reassured Gwen that it would be safe now she had fallen asleep herself only to awaken again well past noon. She opened her eyes a little squinting in the bright light before remembering where she was and what had happened.
With a start her head shot up to look around for the others. The mare known as Lycoris was still asleep but Dita looked like she had been awake for a while as she was putting the blankets together in a neat pile. "Dita!" She called, her voice slightly raspy. "You're still here?" She had been expecting the mare to head home right after waking to get back to her family.

Dita finished settling the blanket she had a hold on before lifting her head to look at Gwendolen. It was good to see that someone else was awake, she had known that after the long night they would all be sleeping in but she hadn't expected to be alone for so long. "I didn't think running off without telling you first would be smart." She said trotting over to the fluttercorn. "You might have thought that the skinwalkers had found us after all and dragged me off." She smiled slightly to make it seem more like a joke but she was serious. If she had awoken to a member of the group missing after hearing about skinwalkers in the area she would assume one was taken.
"I'll head off after I take care of these last few blankets. You'll tell Lycoris where I went when she gets up right? She seems to be a bit on the timid side, you know?" Dita hated to leave just like this but she really needed to get back. The plan had been for her to be home by now. If she dawdled much longer her entire family would start to worry. If that happened she imagined there would be search parties under way by the time she left. That was something she really didn't want to have to take care of.

Gwendolen nodded slowly observing the dark mare. It was a reasonable thought process and it was all together likely that Gwen would have thought exactly that in the case of a missing individual. "Of course I'll tell her." She said with a smile. "She'll have a place to stay here too if she wants it." Something about this conversation was making Gwendolen feel inexplicably saddened. Perhaps it was her lack of companions of her own age that caused it. She never had anyone to just talk to. That must be it. It was like she was losing a friend that she had only just met even though the trip to the village was not a long one.
"Dita...if you...if anyone in the village is hurt and needs a healer, you can send them here. For the blankets." It was something that Gwendolen's mother had decided. It was a smart partnership. The humans would have many things that the could use and the soquili of the village could probably use a reliable healer available if they were out in the wilderness. Perhaps it was a bit of an unbalanced trade but it was all they could really offer the village. They were healers and that was it.
"And...you can visit if you ever want to." She tried smiling but it faltered. "You have a safe trip back okay? I've got to go check on my mother and the patients." It was half of a lie. Really she just didn't want to start crying in front of Dita. It was too early in the morning for goodbyes. She didn't have the self-control she normally possessed when she was freshly woken. After an hour she'd be fine. Until then she had to keep herself busy and not think of the mare departing.

"I'll remember that." She said happily. Dita had been expecting any kind of reward for bringing the blankets but that seemed like a perfectly acceptable deal to her. "I'll bring them myself if I can."
And then it was good bye. Dita didn't fight the frown that pulled at her lips. She was going to miss Gwendolen, there was no way around it. She liked her, she was cool and very responsible. Gwendolen was exactly what Dita thought a leader should be so when she was invited to come back she leaped at the chance. "Of course I'll come visit." She said a little over eagerly before clearing her throat. "And...I'll be careful on my way home. For sure." She smiled again but Gwen was already heading off. Dita turned back to the blankets. She would finish these quickly and then leave.
She would come back one day though. No doubt about it.
