Sasha giggled quietly, lifting a hand to squeeze his shoulder before she rose to her feet.
"Of course. It was a silly question."
Sasha positioned her fingers on the tone holes that ran along the body of the flute.
"If you're ready? I'm.. not sure how this will sound in here - and I might be a little um." Sasha gave him a laugh.
"Rusty."

"Go ahead," He assured her, folding his hands on his lap, all eyes on her. "I'm ready when you are."

Sasha took a deep, steadying breath before placing the flute to her lips. She stood there immobile for a long few moments before she began to play. The instant that the music filtered into the room, Sasha was gone. There was no telling where she'd disappeared to - some safe place deep within the brightest, happiest recesses of her mind? It was obvious that she was not simply playing a song for the sake of playing a song; this was something far more powerful, more meaningful. Her body swayed gently from side to side as she coaxed each note from the instrument. Even her expression was emotive; eyebrows actively moving, lashes fluttering against her cheeks. When the song came to an end, Sasha lowered her flute to her chest. Her eyes remained closed for a short stretch of time; they were damp when she opened them. She blinked a few times as she refocused on Jerry. She'd honestly forgotten that he was there. A slow smile brightened Sasha's expression as she stood in place, beaming at Jerry.

The music flowed out, and Jerry felt his insides twist, his stomach clench and relax and clench again. His eyes closed, rocking gently as the notes filled the room.
It was beautiful.
She was beautiful.
Everything about it, everything about her.
The notes shifted, a bit more mysterious, bouncing into playful. Good ol' Bach. His heart fluttered. Images flitting through his head. He was tempted to pick up his guitar to accompany her, but he didn't dare move. He could hardly breath.
The song settled down into the end, and his eyes were still closed. It took a few moments before he finally opened his eyes again, only to see her smiling at him.
"Sasha... that... that was beautiful," He managed softly.

"Ohh, I was a little off here and there." No, she hadn't been, but everyone was their own worst critic when it came to the art of music.
Sasha moved back to sit next to Jerry on the bed, reaching for the wiping cloth that was kept in the case.
"I can't believe I have it back."

"Y-yeah... yeah that was... that was really amazing. Whoever got it back for you. What so... they just.. went into your old home? A little creepy, ahahaha.." He fidgeted, feeling all sorts of awkward. She was alright. A little scratched up but.. but she would be alright. "I... I know how... how I got when I didn't have some sort of instrument to play." His grip returned to his guitar, clutching it on his lap now nervously. "It's no fun... the ah... b-bad places our minds go sometimes. It's very healthy to have an outlet."

Sasha looked thoughtful.
"I guess ah.. well, I guess they must've gone .. back. To my .. to where I lived." Her brows knit as she pondered that for a moment. "Do you really think it's um. Creepy? I-I mean.. I don't think it is.. but. Do you?"
She fussed with the small, soft cloth in agitation before wiping down the flute.
"You're right about that. I feel like.. I feel like myself again." Sasha smiled at him, her eyes warm. "Like I'm going to be okay, you know?"
The smile slowly faded as she turned back to her flute. Who had done this for her? And why?

Jerry couldn't help himself. Before he could stop it, his hand was already reaching to tuck her hair behind her ear, gently grazing the crispy edges of skin, "You will be ok. You... you have friends here. Even... even if something goes wrong and you flute gets lost or... or eaten, just... you'll be okay? Cause... cause I don't know if I'd be okay if... if you weren't."

His sweet gesture was unexpected, and Sasha couldn't help the pinkish tinge from creeping over the apples of her cheeks. He was such a nice man but more importantly? Jerry was an amazing friend. He was just so gentle, kind and sweet and.. it was really endearing how worried he'd been.
"You're so nice, Jerry. You're just .. such a good friend. And you .. like, you understand the importance of music and.. it's just .. good." Good. Right. Sasha cleared her throat nervously, running the pad of her thumb against the engraving that decorated the neck of her flute.
"We're both going to be just fine."

A good friend.
Allan had said he needed more friends and... and honestly, Sasha was a perfect friend for him.
His heart still hurt. He didn't need... he didn't need to be jumping in too deep too fast, even with the general sense of foreboding that had swept over the island lately.
His trouble with Candace was they had moved too fast, too soon. She had known what she wanted and had taken it. And... at the time... maybe it was what they both had needed. But right now... he needed... he needed to feel safe.
Blushing himself, he wet his lips, glancing down at the guitar on his lap before hefting is up with a soft whistle. After a few bars, he began a simple strumming.
"Oh well in five years time we could be walking round a zoo With the sun shining down over me and you And there’ll be love in the bodies of the elephants too And I’ll put my hands over your eyes, but you’ll peep through."
He smiled, continuing the happy little tune, "And there’ll be sun sun sun All over our bodies And sun sun sun All down our necks And sun sun sun All over our faces And sun sun sun..."
He could always use more music in his life. Always.

Sasha perked when Jerry started to play the guitar, immediately settling her flute in her lap. She'd never heard the song before, but it had a cheery beat. It didn't take long for her to start clapping her hands in tune with the song, a smile forming on her lips.
A smile that grew broader with each word that Jerry sang.
When he finished, Sasha reached out and ruffled his hair. Despite the way she'd been feeling earlier - not hours ago - her mood and been elevated during Jerry's visit.
"Such a happy song," Sasha praised him, beaming brightly. "Ahh, Jerry. You're just ... you're just wonderful."

His fingers plucked away a make-shift ending, his face flushing at her compliment. "I'm... I'm really not, Sasha. I'm... I'm a mess of a man who's just barely kept together through the power of music, ahahahahaha." He rubbed the back of his head, trying to rearrange his hair after she had ruffled it.

"You know. It seems like.. everyone that I think is nice.. or.. or wonderful? They don't think they are. You, Candace, the doctor." Sasha shook her head, her jaw tightening in a rare show of annoyance. Blue eyes flashed in Jerry's direction before her expression softened.
"It's .. we're all imperfect, but. Give yourself a chance, Jerry. You.. you might surprise yourself." She blushed. "I overheard a lot of what you and Candace ah.. talked about." Sasha froze for moment before babbling on, "I think it was so sweet of you to make friends, Jerry, and I know that .. everything's going to work out the way it's supposed to be."
She cleared her throat. Her face was on fire.
"...sorry. I don't ah.. I don't know where that came from."

Jerry drew in a sharp breath, eyes narrowing, "The doctor?" But Sasha kept going, and he was forced to look down, his face crimson, "You... you heard? Er... what... what happened with Candace and me... it... it was... it was complicated and um." He drew in another sigh, swallowing thickly, "Time heals.... all wounds. Ph-physical scars and... and emotional ones. Just... just needs the right salve, right? Ahahaha." He pursed his lips, glancing up to meet her gaze again. "We look like twins now. I hope to god it heals on you cause frankly, you're a lot prettier than I am."

Sasha lifted her flute in her hands once more and continued wiping it down with the soft cloth until it gleamed with a rich warmth.
"Yes, Jerry - can you believe it? The doctor told me that there were some people that would disagree with me. When I, you know. Called him kind." She shook her head before continuing onward.
"You're right, you know. Time.. it does. It heals all wounds - but good friends can help." Sasha smiled shyly at Jerry before settling her flute back in the case. "You've helped me, Jerry. And.." she gave a little giggle, shaking her head as she tucked back a bit of hair that had slipped free from behind her ear, "they'll fade."
She grew serious, introspective. Lifting a hand to the dark mark on her neck, Sasha swallowed carefully.
"I'm sure that ah.. they'll fade faster than the emotional ones. And.. Jerry. You're silly," she gave him a faint smile.
