Since he was ten? Wow! He had it for a long time then! “Wow…and how old are you now, if you don’t mind me asking?” She looked sheepish now at her sudden and possibly odd question…but…she wasn’t sure how old he was now exactly…huh! “…I guess one man’s trash is another’s treasure?” She carefully flipped through some more of the pages, admiring more of the illustrations and nodded her head, looking back up at Bix. “Accurate or not, I agree! It’s an amazing book!”

At his statement, she giggled a bit and shook her head. “…I uh…brought nothing from home, actually…that fiddle I do have was given to me by a friend for Christmas here! I did have a fiddle that had been passed down from my great-grandpa but…it was deemed too big to bring so I had to leave it behind.” Molly seemed reminiscent for a moment before she carefully closed the book and held it back out to Bix. “It’s alright though…I’m very thankful for having my own…oh…is it my turn now?”

"Oh I'm...22 now. My birthday passed in January." He didn't do anything for it. He hung out with his friends but he hadn't told any of them it was his birthday. He only really cared about celebrating for other people's birthdays. For some reason he always felt like informing someone else of your own birthday was more like fishing for attention. "How old are you?" He then turned pink. "Or is that not okay? Cause you are a girl and ladies like to keep those facts mysterious?"

"Wow that's a nice gift." Was it from a guy? Did some guy buy her a fiddle? WHO WAS THIS GUY? he wanted to ask about her home again, what brought her here, but the task at hand was to share new things. "Oh umm if you want. I'm ready. Sock it to me!"

Molly paused, and then stared at Bix for a long, long time.

She then spazzed out.

Your birthday was in January!?” Never mind that she didn’t really know the albino hunter that well then, but still, that was only a few months ago! Regardless, Molly felt terrible…just because. She cupped her face, looking rather dismayed. “…I…I’ll have to get you another present! To make up for it, alright!?” That aside for now, Molly couldn’t help but feel…happy now too! Bix was only a year older than her…but still, meeting someone who was around her age felt so nice. She giggled, and waved a hand at him assuring. “Oh, I don’t think it should be a secret. I’m twenty-one!”

Molly nodded her head. “It really is!” She smiled as Bix encouraged her to go, and first, she made a fist…and then very lightly and playfully bopped the Sun hunter on the arm. “There, I socked it to you!” She giggled, and then started to riffle through her small bag until she pulled out a small green planner. Here, she looked sheepish again, since she was about to admit a fault of hers. “…So um…” She giggled nervously. “I’m uh…really forgetful, so I write everything I need to in this planner.” She undid the clasp and opened it, and started to leaf through the pages, which were jam packed with notes and reminders since she woke up here at Deus.

“…Ah! Speaking of which…” She got a pen out and flipped to the current page, and jotted down ‘Get birthday present for Bix’. “And uh…" She flipped to the back of the planner, and showed him a list that she was working on. Bix seemed like a whimsical person in a way…so maybe he’d appreciate her list? She pointed at it. “Also, the next time we’re on leave, I have things I have to do!” She grinned a bit and tapped one in particular. “I really want to find a trampoline and bounce on it!”

Bix just laughed, he couldn't help it. He also, as the conversation wore on, relaxed a bit. Talking became easier and less forced and he was actually enjoying what was going on without having to convince himself that it was fun as he did with most girls whom he ended up liking initially from only their looks.

He even laughed, alot, at her cheezy 'sock it' joke. It was just the sort of goofy thing he would say.

"January 5th." He specified as she wrote it in her book. "That's a good idea. I am pretty organized myself and by that I mean completely insanely OCD but I can never remember to log things in a book. Though I do text things to myself sometimes. Computers spoiled me." If he could do everything digitally he would.

Her plan of making a list seemed to blow his mind. "Why didn't I think of that!?" He bopped himself in the head. "Everytime we get to go somewhere I always go to the same mall and buy comics. I mean I could go to China or something. I guess I just don't think of it until it's over. Can we share your list? I don't want to miss out on all the fun." Yes he was inviting himself to spend his leave times with her. "Maybe if I think of something, will you put it on there for me? I'm pretty sure I can trust you to remind me. Steer me true and away from comics once in a while." Bix laughed a little. " BUT NOT TOO OFTEN!"

Molly also jotted down off to the side that Bix’s birthday was January 5th. Wow…she really missed it. Sadness. Still, she’d get him another present! She seemed relieved that Bix found her planner to be a good idea…and not a disappointment. She’d be a mess without this book, that she knew. “It seems like you have a really good memory though?”

She blinked and looked up from her list as Bix bopped his head and exclaimed how good her list idea was. It…it was? Molly blushed a bit. Here she had been thinking it was probably stupid but…aw, she was really touched! He wanted to share her list too!? “OKAY!” Molly cried, probably way too loudly and eagerly. She looked back down at her planner again, and right next to her list, she started a new one. She titled it ‘Bix’s List’ and then jotted down one thing for far. China. She tapped her pen on her lips for a moment, and then gave a laugh. “Alright! I will steer you away from the comics every now and then, I promise! Oh!” On both of their lists, she jotted down the ‘Avengers’ movie and grinned.

Anything else you really wanted to do or somewhere you really wanted to go?”

"I guess I remember most things. The trick is having a schedule. If I always follow the same schedule than all I have to remember is the extra stuff because the everyday things become second nature." Bis was pretty regimented and preferred a stable routine. He woke up at the same time everyday and followed a pretty set schedule of eating, exercise, training, etc.

"I think maybe Japan would be cool." He looked around a bit and scooted closer to Molly so he could peer over her book. "Also England. Stonehenge would be neat right? You think there monsters and ghosts there?" Something about the thought, regardless of how dangerous, seemed epic to him.

"What sort of stuff do you have on there?"

The young woman nodded her head in agreement. She liked having a schedule for the most part as well, but it was still pretty flexible, because you never know what could pop up! That and Molly liked to sleep…so she made sure she had plenty of time to do that.

Oooh!” Japan and England sounded amazing. “You know, I lived in Ireland for a few years before moving to the United States.” Hey, looks like she would talk a bit about home. “…To think even though we were close to England, we never visited Stonehenge!” Molly looked up from her book for a moment, noticing that Bix had moved closer, but said nothing about it, aside from the light blush on her cheeks. “Hmm…I think it’s always a possibility!” I mean…they were here to fight monsters and ghosts after all, so at Stonehenge it really wasn’t farfetched. “Stonehedge makes me think of Easter Island…with those giant stone faces…I’d like to go there too…”

She jotted down more stuff on Bix’s list, and then looked back at hers. “I haaaave…trampoline, go see a movie in theatres, go to a carnival, go to a Venetian carnival…” She giggled at that. “Go horseback riding…oooh…I really want to go to the Caribbean one day too!”

"Ireland? Awesome. Are you.. from there?" He couldn't tell if she had an accent but before Deus he'd never spoken to anyone with anything more foreign in them than some latino. In his town there had been some asians but he didn't really know them. Even his college had been nothing more than a bunch of plain old americans. "I think Rep is the first european type person I've ever talked to. Not very diverse back home." He started twirling his braid again, back to his usual habit.

"Oh Easter Island! I forgot about that. You know theres this place in New Zealand where they filmed the Lord of the Rings movies..." He hinted with a sly grin. Bix was happy to hear she had some simple requests. They were doable. Some he could even try to help her with. "Movies.. WILL DO. Me and you, next break." He said it impulsively but going to theaters used to be one of his favorite things. Going to midnight movies.. like when Harry Potter came out...

Molly nodded her head. “Mhm! I was born there, and my family and I lived there for around…ah…five or six years before we moved to the United States, and we lived there every since…” Hence why Molly didn’t really have the accent anymore, but if one listened hard enough, they’d catch bits and pieces of it. She smiled a bit as he mentioned Rep. “Hee…oh he’s Scottish alright.” Ginger-Man, that one. Molly paused for a moment. “…What about you, Bix? If I may ask?”

At the mention of a place in New Zealand, Molly couldn’t help but grin in return. She jotted down ‘Lord of the Rings filming location in New Zealand’ and then looked back up at him. Movies. Me and you. Cue one large possibly goofy looking smile on Molly’s face. “R-really? I’d love that so much!” She’d never been to the movies with a boy before.

"Oh I'm all american. Small town, midwest kind of guy." Bix just smiled. "You know the kind of town where everyone knows everyone else's business and most people get married right out of high school?" The hunter just shrugged. "It's home though. I ended up being one of only like 3 kids from my high school to go to college that wasn't just Community College. I was in my senior year when I came here." Very close to getting a degree but it wasn't like he had many career prospects.

"I miss the movies." Bix smiled when she agreed so readily. "I was thinking of maybe getting some movie gift cards the next time. I want to try and organize a sparring tournament. I think it will be fun." The idea had been bouncing around inside his head for a while. "I figure it can be run by us trainees and only for us trainees.. and prizes can be like movie giftcards and having no duty shifts for a week. We can arrange the losers to pick up the winners shifts. Think that's a good idea?"

Oooh…” Molly nodded her head. “Yeah! I’ve heard about those!” She couldn’t imagine living in one though…well; it was hard to, when you lived in a big city for a good portion of your life. Her brows furrowed though. “…Oh…but…you were so close to graduating, how come you didn’t finish…? Ah! Unless that’s um…not something you want to talk about…” She waved a bit at him a bit frantically. “Then please excuse me!” Molly had never been college material, but she’d never been in a position where going to college was a viable option either.

She grinned a bit though as they talked about movies. “Oh! Maybe we should go see at least one every time we’re on leave then?” That sounded like a good plan to her and speaking of good plans, it seemed like Bix had one to share as well. Molly was quiet as she listened, and then nodded her head enthusiastically. “That sounds wonderful! It sounds like an event for everyone to participate in and get together, with fun rewards at the end as well!” Everyone liked games, right? “Did you have an idea of when you wanted to do this?"

"Well.." Bix scratched his head. "It's not like I had any career goals. I was only an English major and you know that's just like a degree for people who don't know what to get a degree in. I figured I'd get some desk job maybe an apartment and a dog. That was the extent of my life's plans." It sounded pretty aimless in his own mind, pathetic even. "This seemed like a better option. Not like they'd give me anything special here for having a degree." It wasn't like the military.

"What was home like for you?" She could tell him if she didn't want to discuss it. He was pretty open if anyone asked for him. "I get curious sometimes why people decided to join Deus."

When it came back around to his plan he just shrugged. "I dunno I guess it was just an idea. I didn't put anything into action yet and it seems like people only participate if they are getting something in return. Even if it's just food." Bix laughed. "Maybe with you to put the fire under my butt we can organize something sooner rather than later?"

Molly ended up tucking her planner away for now as the topic drew away from it, and loosened the clasps on her coat since they were just hanging out near the beach. She pulled her legs up and rested her arms on top of her knees as she listened. “Aw…but a degree is a degree, right? You put all the time and effort into it as well, and I think that means something…it just…well you were so close!” She made a soft amused sound. Deus as a better option then college, huh? “A dog? What kind of dog?” That sounded…so adorable.

As she was asked, Molly’s smile dropped, and she seemed anxious. She kind of did want to talk about it, to get it off her chest…but it was just…depressing, and she didn’t want to unload that onto anyone. It was her own sob story. “…I don’t want to be a wet blanket for you, Bix.” She offered after a moment, “No one likes a downer, right?” She laughed a bit nervously.

She nodded her head once more. “All things have to start somewhere! I think it’d be really fun…I like events that bring everyone together…” She smiled. “Of course! I’ll do whatever I can to help! You just say the word and let me know!”

"Not sure. A pug or some sort of terrier?" Bix shrugged. "I always wanted to get a tiny dog and name it Ripper. I thought it would be funny."

Bix watched as Molly frowned when he asked about her life. "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want but.. you know you're not the only one who didn't live in the Brady Bunch." He didn't want her to feel alone. Pretty much everyone here had to have reason to leave home and cut themselves off from their family forever.

Bix figured it would be easier for her if he shared first. "Like with me.. my real dad died when I was a baby. My mom married her high school sweetheart after that but she needed to move because the people in the town gossiped too much. So the guy I call dad is actually my step dad. He raised me forever so I don't mind." He leaned back on his palms and pulled his scarf off, discarding it onto the sheet. The sun was getting warm and so he took off his coat. He was wearing a t-shirt underneath that said 'Arkham City Police Department'.

"A couple years ago my little brother disappeared. He was the greatest and someone just... snatched him." Bix frowned. "And that was that. They never found him and they stopped looking eventually. I tried to keep hope but people beat it into me that I should just let it go." He frowned. "I did too. I let it go. I shut up cause they told me to and I have always regretted it."

Molly took a moment to imagine Bix walking a pug.

So.

Cute.

Current topic now though? Not so cute.

O..oh I know…but…” But what? Maybe she didn’t want to tell people she really wasn’t that responsible. That was guilt for you. Though the words did bring a bit of comfort as well, even if it was just a smidgeon, and her attention was riveted on the albino hunter as he spoke of his past. It was started to get warmer out, and she quietly pulled off her scarf as well and placed it off to the side. She couldn’t help but smile oh so briefly at his shirt, and it disappeared as he spoke about his brother.

You have a younger sibling too? Er…had…Oop—“ She placed her fingers to her lips to keep quiet as Bix went on, and her expression turned into one of sympathy and sorrow. That was…saddening. He never knew what happened to his brother. Molly stared at the tops of her knees, and bit on her finger briefly, in thought. After a moment she turned towards Bix and placed a hand on top of one of his own, squeezing it for a moment before pulling it back. “I’m so sorry.” She murmured.

“…Do....do you think about him still? Um…a lot…? I…I had a younger sibling too..A sister…” Her heart constricted at the words, the thoughts, but it seemed like she was going to share.
