Wow, you are tall! Ah, the wii... well it's good if you have the inner strength to do it and if you are slightly perfectionist/competist. I was able to keep it up for a long time and it is fun and in a way effective, but it requires you really wanting to play with it in order it to work. I lost the interest to it during the summer when I rater went outside than be inside the house. Now I'm picking it up again.

For me it works since I don't have time and it's bit difficult for me to get into any gym and I always want to do bit better and get bit better score in the game. What it is lacking is good upper body exercises but it's really good if you want to strengthen your lower and middle parts. Also the weight measures and versatile stuff especially in the Fit Plus is good. If you have time and access to a gym, then that's definitely more effective but if you want to increase your daily activity level, then the Fit Plus is good for that.

If it's the effectiveness you want, then I'd say save up your money and buy some weights or something. If you want to have fun and break some sweat in the same time, then especially the Fit Plus is good for that. Also, there are few other games that use the balance board that is super fun (like raving rabbids).

Gah, my weight has been circling the same amount for two weeks now and it's frustrating! I've been trying to keep an eye on my meal sizes and have the afternoon snacks and all, so I don't gorge everything down on the evening but still. On days like this I feel like giving up since I already sort of like how I look. It's the need to have more energy and wanting to have healthier body that is my motivator for this... but is it enough?

gaia_angelright

Thanks for the review! I am fairly competitive and I like working towards goals.

I definitely need to increase my daily activity level, but I also need to leave the house more often. Although these days I'm not so much because we live in a semi-urban area and getting around without a car is not really convenient. I manage getting to the city for appointments though.

You're lucky you like how you look! On my bad days I feel so disgusting... it really sucks getting trapped in that sort of a mindset. It helps that my fiancé thinks I'm beautiful and doesn't care how much I weigh. 3nodding Of course, it would be a lot easier if he were actually here with me!

Do you do any weight training? I used to fairly regularly, and I just loved how it made me feel! I certainly love how my arms look when they're at least a little toned, but I noticed that carrying heavy things sprinting to catch the bus became easier, and I didn't get as much back pain after a full night's sleep.

If you are competetive and like goals, then I'd say the Fit Plus would work with you. 3nodding

I have my bad days too when I hate my tummy and how it just... is, but most of the times I think I actually look good. I know it sounds funny but it's actually hard to motivate your self to push your self harder when you feel like you are doing it for some one else, not me. The regular question that revolves around my head is "I like my self so isn't that enough?". My fiancé is also really supportive and still after seven years thinks I'm the most gorgeous girl in the world.

I don't do any regular weight training but I get lots of that kind of exercise during the summers in my garden. There's lots of stuff to be shoveled around and rocks/earth to be moved with wheelbarrow. In the winter we clear up our yard from snow with snow shovels etc. (looks like you don't have the thing we use since I can't find a translation for it). It's great feeling that after few years living in our own house you can see muscles forming up in the arms. I'd say that my arms are ok but it's the tummy area where I need to do some more work since I have tendency to get all the extra fat on my lower tummy and but/thigh area.

So have you thought that you could start maybe cycling to the city? It's super effective exercise and it could also fix the issue of getting around? Of course, since I'm not sure what is your semi-urban (since it could mean whole different stuff from what we call semi-urban) it's hard to tell if this is even do-able. smile I like riding a bike and I would use it on my work commute more if I just could. I managed to get my bike fixed last summer and it was so great to drive it for a long time. Another good trick to raise up your daily activity is to make sure you use your legs as much as possible. Walk up the stairs, instead of using elevator, when waiting some one or something, instead of doing it while sitting, stand up, etc.

Yeah, motivation is key. If you're actually satisfied with your weight you could always just use this as a way to eat healthier and stick with more exercise.

Personally, I was kind of feeling like you for a long time. I knew I had put a little on but it didn't really bother me until my favorite clothes weren't fitting as well. When I see myself in pictures now I look worse than the body image I have in my head. lol

Looking back at my last post I can see that might have seemed like I was saying "oh you feel this way now but you'll come around." Sorry about that. I just meant that I totally understand how it's hard to be motivated to change something that you're already satisfied with.

For me personally, I do have to face other ways I need to be motivated. High cholesterol and blood pressure run in my family. I recently found out my own numbers are already at a high normal level so I really want to n** that in the bud. Not wanting to have to buy new bigger clothes and wanting to look better are in there too but I don't know if those two alone would be enough of a motivator to override my wanting to snack. lol

Instead of snacking I'm trying to make tea or keep my water bottle handy.

Why I decided to join: To get rid of a bit of baby-weight still left over. Mostly to find a way to lose and maintain my weight.
Current Weight: 128lbs
Height:5'7"
Goal Weight: 120lbs
How I feel (mentally/physically): Determined. Slightly Frustrated. Physically, a bit congested - just getting over a cold.
My method/plan for losing weight: Eating small "filler foods" (foods high in nutrients and fiber but low in calories) before meals to prevent overeating. No soda. sweets, chips. More lean meats, less pasta.
Exercise (optional): Aerobics/Dance Fitness videos, Pilates.

I know eight pounds seems a bit silly, but its not so much the pounds that concern me. Its more about shaping up my lower body where they all seem to have gone. My New Year's resolution this year was just: "Be healthier." There's a laundry list of health problems on my mom's side that all are brought on by/ made worse by obesity. So for me its not just to look better in a bathing suit; its to do what I can do to prevent these illnesses.

I'm a big "midnight munch-er". When my son goes to bed and I'm watching TV I'll grab a bag of whatever happens to be open in the kitchen which is usually chips, ice cream, etc. I've cut out soda, which has helped, but I'm a big pasta nut.

In the last few -weeks I've been trying these little 15-min workouts on Comcast. And some of them are pretty fun, and do make me feel more energized. But by the next morning I'm sore and tend to skip working out for a few days and spend way more time than I should on the couch with the laptop.

Eight pounds doesn't sound silly at all. It's probably the best thing to get a handle on bad eating habits now while it's not so bad.

When we had Comcast I tried some of those workouts too! I agree that they are fun. I think the best part is that there is a good variety of options so you don't get bored. smile

Don't worry, I totally got your point and I have the same situation. I think I look good, but my favorite clothes are not fitting like they used to so I'm bit in between. I really need to "whip my self" to do this. I know it's good for me eventually, since I too have issues with cholesterol and it runs in my family. It's nice to see that I'm not the only one with these thoughts. smile I've tried to explain to my fiancé this but he doesn't understand it really.

OK! It's my first weigh in day so here it goes...

Current Weight:150
Weight change since last week:-2lbs
How I feel (mentally/physically):Optimistic but not ready to celebrate by any means. It's easy to start a weight loss plan but harder to succeed in it. Physically I feel good. I still have to stop myself from snacking every time I go to the kitchen. It really was a habit that doesn't want to let go. Instead of grazing I have been making a pot of tea or filling my water bottle.
Exercise (optional): I walk my dog every day for at least 30 mins (unless downpouring). I also used the elliptical twice last week. I plan to increase that to at least 4 times a week for 35-45 mins each time.
How did the week go?Overall the week went well. I feel extra hungry but not to the point where I'm really uncomfortable. The up side is that at mealtimes the food seems extra good.

Congrats on a great first week!

I think I read some where that the safest weight loss is 1-2 lbs per week. So, it seems like you're doing really well. biggrin

I've been stuck to the couch/bed for the last two days. Seems like this cold isn't over, its just evolved into nasty sinus/chest congestion and coughing. I really want to get back into the fitness videos, but it doesn't seem like the best of ideas - at least until I can breathe through my nose again. lol

First off I'll trow you a challenge: http://www.twohundredsitups.com/test.html I challenge you to at least try this one out or the other programs that are in the site. It's really easy, effective and the results are mind bogging especially if you start from zero like me.
gaia_angelright

Four and then I puked up and started choking on it. I think that probably is sub-poor for my age group... sweatdrop

Don't worry about it. The program is good so if you can stick with it, I'm sure you'll get some good results too. At start it really feels difficult but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it in no time.

This week is harder than last. I'm still doing ok but I feel more frustrated and pessimistic about the whole thing. This is about as far as I got last time but I'm determined not to give up.
