One minute he was chatting to his group and greeting the figures in the fog, the next it was a net and blackout. Waking up in a cell or a cage that he wouldn't even put his own mice in was rather discomforting.
Joachim was oblivious to the idea of "hunters." The event that had occurred over the winter was at a period that he was not around the school. However the understanding of weapons was a hint enough for the reaper to dislike them, that coupled with the hiss that Merel made he had little interest in making new friends.
Scooting over to Willow he kept his voice low, "Out of a small curiosity and not that I have interest in chatting with them, but what are hunters?"

Amarus had voiced her opinion about the strangers, and followed Willow in her natural form, along with Joachim-- but before she could even get a word in, they had been captured by a net?! Amarus, after blacking out from the pain, woke up in some kind of sterile environment, alone.
And they sounded like they were threatening her. Not to mention what the hell was a Halloween Refuge Base anyway? She had never heard of that term. She tilted her head, bells ringing, and stared at the ... whatever it was. Deus Ex Machina, was that the name of the group? Were there more than these two? Amarus was rather ignorant about them, at the moment, having had little contact. Seemed like though the cloaked figures had reminded her of the guides she had seen once, they were nothing alike.
Besides, she was already in a jacking awful mood. These trials were a series of more and more unpleasant things. Was this even part of the trials...? One way or another, Amarus did not bend under threat. She was a warrior, after all. A fighter. Not some kind of simpering little ghoul who needed a big, strong boil or ghoul to wipe her nose for her. She took care of her own sniffles, thank you very much. "..." Essentially, Amarus stared at them with her mirror-blank expression, refusing to reply.
No, they wouldn't get anything out of her, if she could help it. If only she could use her speed shift to get out of here... Her sweet Aura was calming her down, so even though the situation was stressful, and she knew this, her lotus aura helped her keep her cool.

"BAD." Ulmuka hissed to Joachim. He didn't know for sure all the details but he'd fought them and seen how awful they could be to his fellow students. It seemed that the strix, who had so eagerly ran to talk to them, was learning a little bit from the trials.
He wouldn't be saying anything. He just sat and stared and blinked unevenly at them. The strix had almost forgotten that this had to be part of the trials.

There were times when being an undead simply rotted in the literal sense. Merope shook his head slowly before leaning forward, cupping it carefully between his hands as he tried to remember. What had happened? He had woken up in the mist, found Willow, then... Then he was drawing blanks. He couldn't remember, no matter how hard he tried.
Merope raised his head and glanced up, wincing and recoiling. The light above was harsh and far too bright for his liking. He jumped when the voice began speaking, frowning when the white-coated reaper began to speak.
Then his attention was diverted completely away. Merope scooted close to the wall of their enclosure and pressed himself up against it, squinting. "What do you think those things are?" He asked, his face smooshed up against the clear wall for a better look.

Willow nudged Joachim closer to Merope before speaking since she'd heard both of them ask similar questions. "What I know of them, they are hunters, humans." She paused thinking.
"They often put us in cages, ones that drain our fear. And turn us into weapons..." She paused, "The ones they had were oddly colored though, I don't know what's going on with that."
The tiger's tail flickered, "In the haunted house, I was with a group called team venture, we fought against these hunters." She paused looking around, "They had our friends and other citizens of Halloween locked up in these cages." She was speaking lowly hoping the hunters outside the glass couldn't hear.
"We managed to free them, but they were weak because the cages ate their fear... we don't know how, if Red had lived perhaps we could've gotten some answers. But she had found a way to join their ranks, gained one of their weapons. The weapon, it fused to her." The tigress was watching the mirrored glass closely.
"She died, we don't know why. But they have a leader. One with a scythe. He has to be defeated." She said glancing around having tried to settle in front of her group, as if she was protecting them.
"He's shown up a few times. Once he was bold enough to wear the red cloak. He knew names, and some information about some of us. He perhaps was a teacher at one point, but I don't understand how." The tiger's ears fell back, "There was something else from that house though. Something... more evil, more wicked than this, than any of us could ever be."
Willow gave a small shudder, "It showed my team visions, visions of how they turn our kind into weapons. We cannot let that happen." She glanced back to her now team, "We cannot let them take us, doesn't matter if this is a vision, part of the trial or what."
She glanced around at the rest of them, "This is why I advise not speaking to them. And to do so, is at your own risk. I do not trust them or the soulless one..." She paused looking around, "If this is the trickery of the soulless one it'll be hard to break. The only way we were freed from it was because of the horsemen showing up in the haunted house."

Merope listened to Willow, silent. When she finished, he simply shrugged and went back to staring at the hunters. He didn't understand parts of what she said. He never went to gym and didn't know Red. He didn't know about the significance of the weapons or what they were. He didn't even believe that the weapons weren't weapons in the traditional sense.
He stayed silent, staring out at the hunters and trying to understand.

Merope stared, then jerked up as a hissing sound swept into the cage. "Guys! Be car-" Merope began before he clutched his throat, fins flaring wide then sweeping in before he fell over, unconscious.

Amarus didn't understand what exactly this creature who had her was supposed to be, apart from something to do with Deus Ex and "hunters." It was very frustrating. Even though she wasn't the kind who particularly craved information, it was frustrating to not have enough information about her enemy to adequately fight. And at the moment, they clearly had the upper hand. Really, she wasn't particularly listening to Willow's speech, as she was focused on the ultimate truth of their situation. Even if it would have done her good to listen.
She heard a hissing noise, and turned from side to side, her bells jingling, trying to discern the source of the sound. No dice. She kicked at the bars of her cage with her feet, trying to make them as tangible as possible, but she passed out before very long. Amarus woke up in a box. A transparent box.
And was suddenly even more furious than before. It took a lot to really stoke Amarus' temper, but as far as she was now concerned, things were getting very real and if anyone ever made the mistake of letting her out of this damn cage she would fight, or die trying. After all, she was already dead, so this entire scenario struck her as frustrating. Then again, she'd never seen the Deus Ex in action to know any better.
But she did soon. Amarus didn't tell them a thing [] and she had no intention of doing so. Ever. They could go suck a gnome if they thought she'd do anything for them.
Even when Joachim started to get... turned into a weapon, no matter how awful... Amarus' resolve was steeled. Her mirror-blank expression did not betray the grief she felt at a group member being killed so callously. She took her lotus flower charm, pricked the skin of her knee, and swiped at the dot of blood that welled to the surface, licking her finger. It wasn't blood in the truest sense, but rather the lotus wine that ran through her as an essence. It would help calm her. Prepare her.
She didn't even reply to those things, because she trusted her utter silence would be enough of a response.

Muka kept silent, still staring and grinning. One of the hunters gave him a look but the strix was bad at translating human emotions. A lot of them looked so much alike!
The owl's head tilted and then it suddenly became ver difficult to keep his eyes open.

Willow snarled when they said they'd have to do it the fun way. Charging towards the glass aiming to ram it, when suddenly there was a hissing noise. She was still charging before the noise caused her to black out sliding to a stop in a pile of orange fur.

What Willow had said did not paint a pretty picture of humans, the story was far worse than what his grandfather had every told him. These humans were even more gruesome then the snot nosed little children. However, Joachim never got a chance to whisper those words as the hissing leaked into the cage taking one last look at his teammates his eyes closed.
He could hear voices, voices of others chatting softly to one another, and then the sound of something crashing into a glass wall, yet sleep seemed rather comfortable. Swinging his hand as if to swat the sound away, it touched a wall sending a jolt through his body.
“Jackda…..” He cried waking up, his eyes widening at the scene as his mind tried to process what was happening. This wasn’t home, this wasn’t his bed and this was still a part of the trial. The reaper shuddered as the crackling noise of something turning on outside of the cage. A light casting down engulfed his body, wrapping it in a blanket of pain. Joachim screamed as his mice scattered from this hidden pockets of his jacket squeaking and attempting to climb the edges of the cylinder only to recoil from the shock. The pain brought him on all fours as he struggled to stay conscious, he could see them his teammates on the other side of the cage. The pain was growing worse, he screamed again his nails digging into the floor, he couldn’t escape.
“DON’T TELL THEM ANY……!!!” He screamed pressing the palms of his hands on the wall of the cylinder cage however jolts of electricity was enough cause his body to collapse on the floor of the cage. Taking one last look Joachim huddled wrapping his hands around the familiar black body of Merel gritting his teeth as the pain intensified, his body shaking and convulsing, shifting in its form.
Then it all snapped, there was still pain, pain that was worse than the cage but it started to evaporate, as his body grew lighter. He could see figures looking in horror but their expressions were unfamiliar, and the memory of why escaped him. There was relief in his world of blackness that he retreated to. No worry, nor care, even the once familiar desire to sleep seemed to disappear other than the feeling of hunger gnawing in his stomach. Wrapping his fingers around the ebony fur of a mouse that squeaked in his hands happily, he waited in the darkness chatting to her this hunger growing.

It had been a while since the haunted house. The nightmares still plagued the tiger, the monster that sat there watching them. The whole time while team venture was being tortured with visions of what was to come. Willow twitched, in her sleep. Unaware of what was going on outside of her head. The cages, with the bars; they were back. She knew it was a vision but she couldn't shake it. Those sadistic grins, the laughter. She was too weak once again to do anything. Anything at all. She could've stopped them, the poking the prodding, she snarled and growled attempting to ward them off. They were coming for her. They had the others, they were coming...
---- The tigress' eyes snapped open in a panic. Blinded by the white light in the room, her paws suddenly found themselves going over her eyes to hide them from the light. There was a pause, in the tiger's movements... White light. Bolting up she looked around, there were the hunters. It was a vast difference from the nightmare but still the nightmare all the same. Only, the rest of team venture wasn't there, still in a panic the tiger was now moving from side to side searching. Pausing when she realized where she was. Joachim was in the center of the room. The tigress stopped, stared and looked around, Muka, Amarus, Merope?
They hadn't been part of the original nightmare, but this new one. The tiger's ears flickered as she was trying to figure out what was going on. Suddenly it dawned on her. "NO!" She shouted charging towards the glass head down ramming it. Stumbling backwards the ghoul heard, "We'll have to do this the fun way."
"NO YOU LET THEM GO!" She screamed. Ramming the glass again with what might she could muster. She wasn't going to sit by and let this happen, it wasn't going to end like this. If she could just get the cage to break... the nightmare it had to be over. The other figures seemed to have no interest in the tiger trying to break out. She paused stumbling backwards after a few more attempts to ram the glass.
Standing there watching them, they were toying with them. She watched the machine with Joachim in it buzz to life. The tigress snarled aiming at the glass again, a third time, forth, she had to get out. She had to save them; she couldn't just be the useless ghoul she was in the haunted house. Tears were staining her pelt and her head ached more with each hit. Finally, stumbling back watching her friend be turned into a weapon.
The soulless one, it had to be doing this, it just had to. She never learned from the horsemen how to offend it. The tiger sat down watching the hunters as they were threatening her team, but the threats only fell on deaf ears as the Byakko seemed to be sitting, watching. The cage wasn't big enough to get a good run; it wasn't large enough to get a solid hit in. She looked at her claws and to the glass. Surely there was a way out. Surely there was a way to stop this.
Willow twitched when they pointed the weapon at her. What could she do? She needed help, where was Bul ,Demi, Cady, Bea? Anyone...

Muka blinked awake at his companions. Where was Joachim? Perhaps he was slow on the uptake but his head swiveled to watch his friend trapped in a different container. It was different, strange, and not like anything he'd ever seen before.
Willow seemed to grow more agitated and Muka was definitely angry, his normal smile flipped upside down into an angry grimace, but he was not as affected at the tiger-ghoul. "Joachim!" he screeched to his friend but the call was lost between the machinery and space between them. When the hunter hit the switch all the strix could do was watch. He watched Joachim scream in pain, howl to them in his last moments not to tell them anything. The owl wished he could save the mice or at least take their little bodies and give them a proper rest. Joachim would have wanted that much.
The owl blinked slowly away as his friend's form twisted and disappeared, turning into some sort of black weapon. He closed his eyes unevenly and took a breath. Being slightly detached from emotions had it's benefits in times like this.
"Not talking." He hissed it low, to his teammates. "Remember. The trials. This could be a test." A gruesome test, but a challenge none the less. "A challenge of death. What would they want us to do? Expect from us?" His eyes open and he pinned each of them with his golden eyes. "Even if it is not, our information may endanger other students. I will respect my brother Mr. Joachim's wishes and his memory."
Muka closed his eyes again.

The figure in the white cloak sighs and takes out an extremely plain looking eyephone, "Sir I need you down in section C." They pocketed the phone with a sigh and a slightly worried look. Moments later another a tall blonde man in a three pieces suit walked in, causing the first to stand straighter and carefully move out of the man's immediate line of sight. Glancing at the captive, the new arrival frowned, "We don't need them, trainee. We have enough specimens and weapons for the time being." "But sir, they..." The man in the suit had already summoned his guns. The OOC Roll 1 d100 1-25: The door to your cage opens and several shots ring out. Your death is quick and painless. 26-50: The door to your cage opens and a shot rings out, destroying one of your legs. The man in the suit gives the trainee an expectant look, "Well, do whatever you need to do with it." The trainee stutters for several moments until another shot is fired. Your death is slightly less quick and painless. 51-75: The door to your cage opens and a shot rings out, destroying one of your legs. The man in the suit gives the trainee an expectant look, "Well, do whatever you need to do with it." The trainee nods and reaches for several pieces of equipment. The blonde man checks his watch and another shot is fired. Your death is painful and much less quick than the man in the suit would have preferred. 76-100: The door to your cage opens and the trainee quickly approaches you, nervously looking back at the man in the suit. Their distraction gives you the opportunity to shove past them and escape. Several shots ring out. Your death is quick and painless.

Willow heard something about NO talking and Trials ...... "This.... this isn't the trials." She said softly, hallow even.
No this was beyond the torture of the trails. This was a deeply rooted evil that none of her current teammates didn't understand. The tiger was staring at the glass, transparent, nothingness of a wall keeping her in a see-through cell. Her tail flickered as she seemed to be thinking.
Slowly her fur began to bristle, followed by bearing her teeth. "THESE ARE NO TRIALS." The tiger began to ram the glass again using her full weight throwing her shoulder and whole body into the walls that surrounded her. Anything that could be broken or moved, that was her goal. Suddenly, someone said something that made her pause. The ones that were tending to them were wanted elsewhere. Her eyes narrowed, as she started to head towards another wall trying to break out. There was a pause when the cage door opened.
"Where's the hunter with the scythe?" She asked before she noticed the guns. She growled fixing to attack the hunter when.
BAM
The tiger had lurched forward to bite him......
-------
....The cages, everyone was back laughing at her. Their hands, grabbing, pulling. Every attempt she growled and started biting attempting to scratch their smiles off their faces.
All of them, all of them were weapons. Bul, Demi, Cady, Bea, Muka, Joachim, Merope, Amarus... all of them, everyone she knew. The tears streaming down her face. You're useless. You always were... Desperation was showing as she ripped at the shadows claws reaching through nothing, falling deeper into the nightmare. Laughter and catcalls. Insults, everything was overwhelming. Nothing she did stopped it.
"She's no use to us." Came an unfamiliar voice, staring at the unknown stranger standing beside the hooded figure with the scythe. A gun was pulled, the words of a former teacher, former peers, and others, We are halloween and cannot die echoed through the tiger's mind. The single shot hit her, leaving the tiger to give a roar of pain....
----
The roar sounded further from her than anything ever sounded, for a split second it was as if something was ripping her soul from her and she fell she felt nothing... eyes glassing over as the shot ripped between her eyes. She began to dissipate, her eyes glassing over, a thought passed, in her last few seconds, maybe we can die....
