A slow grin spread across Taryn's face. Yes, Chuppi, yes. That was exactly it.
"We're all here to protect each other," the ghoul nodded, shooting the chupacabra a wink. Thank Jack she'd come around, but it had taken an enemy to solve it.
...well, whatever it was. It had worked. She nodded and turned to look at Mort. Ah, her faithful and only companion, at this moment. She was confident that he'd have her back if things went sour.

Oh Mort, he really needed to work on his reflexes. Probably have a few more goes at the Lightning Road when this business was done. He had faced the lake and faced fire - he could face some more lightning. Assuming something else didn't come and scar the team's spirits. Hopefully all were well-rested enough?
Still, what was that thing? It wasn't a ghost, and it looked as though it had come from the grey fog . . . was it pure FEAR? Or something else?
"Good job!" Mort praised the ghouls, scratching the back of his neck, adding in a minor joke with, "Er, l-leave some for us next time." He looked to see if Alex and Yin were - oh dear. He made the "one sec" motion to Taryn before shuffling over to take a look at Yin's injury. Something had not fully healed in his chest it would seem, a bone slightly out of place in the ribcage. "Mrrrr . . . Hold still, will try mending."
Gently, the zomboil pressed his hands against the discolored portion of Yin's injury and began to concentrate his FEAR to help heal it some. 101 wasn't the most accurate of classes when it came to bones, but he had come across a couple of dummies with similar conditions during his tries. At the least he could help strengthen the area where the bone had fractured. After about a minute or so, he took his hands off. "Any better?"

Something seems to have separated from the mass of fog, staring hungrily in your direction. It tries to talk, but instead, hisses lowly, though you can make out a single word as it speaks.

Chuppi was watching her friend work over on the others, appreciating the compliment Taryn had given her. Her eyes and nose were red and puffy, she would probably cry for a bit longer, but she was feeling better until she noticed the fog break again - and this time it went for Mort. He was working to help Yin and Alexander, and the chupacabra let out a heavy and loud hiss as she charged the creature, knocking it away.
"You will not harm!" Her words rang hollow but the way she made her quills stand on end was a clear message - don't ******** with the monster.

Rolling for attack will edit later
Yin was trying not to be too noticeable about the remainders of his injuries, but the stumble had given him away. Part of his chest still had bandages, but there was exposed skin strategically to show off where the rib had slightly come out of place. Or perhaps because the bandage there had not been keeping it in place. Either way Mort was by his side, cold hands gently pressing against the wound.
The chill began to seep in, numbing the area. That and either the Fear being used to heal him or the electricity found in the boil began to make Yin's flesh tingle pleasantly. He relaxed in the absence of pain. "Yes, thank you Mort."
Something was coming at the zomboil and Yin tried to reach out and scratch it as it attacked, but he simply could not reach. He needed more time. More time to heal. Not to mess around with whatever these were.

Alex had stumbled back from the last fight when Chuppi finished it off, giving the monster ghoul a nod of appreciation and an easy smile that said 'well done!' before turning his attentions back to Yin, and seemingly Mort, who was already their laying hands on Yin to try and help fix whatever damage was still causing him discomfort.
He shuffled closer, eyes plainly worried now, but was able to smile again when Yin said that he was feeling better.
And then another cloaked figure came out of nowhere and attacked Mort. Mort, who had just helped heal Alex's bonded, who was nothing but a nice guy always being helpful. Alex snarled, his lip curling back as he lashed out with clawed fingers, swiping at the figures facial area.
"Back off!" He growled, putting himself between the cloaked creature and his friends, with Yin and Mort behind him.

Really? Attacking the healer? Who did that? Screw you, fog-monster, he was helping Yin! Before it could reach Mort, Taryn attempted to light the beast on fire.
She succeeded.

All these creatures, this was not what she expected! The group still hadn't gone to speak with the strangers just yet but already they were being attacked? And what were these mumbles of returning home?
Chuppi swore to be on guard, to help protect the first year students. They may have been older than her but she had been at the school longer and therefore was stronger - they would need her!

Hissing was never a good sign. Before Mort could turn his head to see what new opponent was going at them, he felt a shadowy claw go through his chest - icy cold, striking right at his core. He was far too stunned to do much but fall on his butt back to the ground. But everyone, thankfully, was much faster on the battle tempo. Hell, even Yin managed to try and attack, regardless of the miss.
Team love, you guys. Team love right there. ;; <3 He managed a shaky smile towards them, rubbing his chest where the cold ache lingered. "Thanks, guys . . . S-Stay still, might need more time heal," he told the mantodae conversationally, as if he had not been rudely interrupted. "Lemme patch self up, w-will get back tending n' sec . . ." His fingers twitched a bit as he pulled the collar of his shirt some, fumbling the re-stitching near his neck.

The break was short lived... Barely with time to breathe after the last encounter, another foggy figure strode forward to replace its fallen comrade. Something seems to have separated from the mass of fog, staring hungrily in your direction. It tries to talk, but instead, hisses lowly, though you can make out a single word as it speaks.

Chuppi was getting fed up, enough that she hissed with unhappiness at the creatures that seemed to be coming. Her quills actually seemed to be vibrating on her back and she spread her fingers, her claws sharp and ready. With a lunge she tore at the creature as it went towards Mort, the monster unwilling to let any of her friends get hurt.
She may have be useless in everything else, but Chuppi certainly knew how to pound on enemies.

Attempting to attack one of his team members? One of his team members trying to patch himself up? Yin was not pleased. He followed up on Chuppi's attack almost immediately, slicing with his claws and managing to rip through the fear creature a bit this time.
Yes, this was it. Get back on his feet. Resume a battle position. Keep an eye on his teammates.
Try to take the damage if possible. And, he glanced at Alexander, ensure that his bonded was not injured today.

The last attack had left Alex's messy hair tousled and in his eyes to the point where he couldn't see nor did he have any idea they were even being attacked. But he heard noises, and it became obvious they were being flung into battle once more. Acting on instinct and pure zombie rage, Alex attempted to lash out, but his perception was skewed and his attack was way the hell off.
Pushing his hair out of his eyes angrily, he glanced towards Yin, sidestepping towards the other boil so that they could fight side by side if the chance came to attack again.

Sweet Sally, they liked getting the ones who were down. Mort barely managed to evade the creature's attack, rolling to his feet with a bit of a stagger. One hand still clutching his chest where the previous ghost-thing had struck him, the zomboil sent a small bolt of lightning at the thing. "Go 'way!" he told it. "G-Go to your home!"
