Funny, despite the surroundings, Tybalt didn't really clue to what was going on here. In fact, he thought the whole disoriented feeling was due to the trip he made to the infirmary after falling off the Jack damned cliff the other day. No, this couldn't possibly be a trial. Of course not. So what the heck was Ren and Jove looking so spooked about--and why was LW hiding behind a rock..?
Twisting a finger in his ear, in hopes to get rid of this bizarre feeling, the black dog crouched down behind the she-wolf and inched closer and asked in a voice none to quietly--"WHY ARE WE HIDING..?"
If this was a game, he wanted in on it.

Was she panicking yet? Close to it. She had not found the others yet. And she was terrified to move with those....others about. Ren. She wanted him here. Right now. Jove and Tybalt too. Her group. Her best friends. Her-
LW had not heard or scented the black dog as he came up behind her. Heart galloping away and feeling the urge to pant out of nerves, the she-wolf didn't recognize the voice right away. All she heard was someone speaking behind her all of a sudden. And, out of fearful instinct to not be killed or captures, LW made a strangled noise of surprise, twisted around and lunged at the being behind her. Tackling it and getting her hands around its neck to strangle it before it-
....he. It was a he. And a familiar 'he'. The she-wolf stared down at the boil.
"T-Tybalt?" She asked almost stupidly. And then her eyes flashed and she growled at him, hands still around his neck. "What the hell are you doing?!" LW hissed angrily and embarrassed that he'd scared her. Again. And no, she had not removed her hands yet. Ooooh she was going to kick his furry butt!

His tail flicking out, Ren wrapped it around Jove's lightly, trying to keep themselves together without actually holding hands, since he had the distinct feeling that the boil would not approve of that, even in their current conditions. But the fog was thick and a terribly familiar reminder of a certain island that they had all been on several long months ago...
Ren did not want to think about it.
"Can you get their scent?" he murmured to Jove, a frown crossing his face.
He could hear voices, vague and distorted. Quietly, Ren took a few cautious steps, careful to stay close to his little brother, eyes narrowing through the fog. He cast a glance over his shoulder at the two figures, at the figures, and the way that the ground kept trembling beneath his feet.
At the drill and the black smog.
I don't want to be here. It was...odd. Something was off.
He could sense the two last members of their team, and as they moved closer, the fog cleared just slightly enough that he could make out two figures standing a few yards away - one with their arms outstretched, hands wrapped around -
Oh, LW was strangling Tybalt. Whoops.
"LW," Ren whispered gently. "Tybalt. Over here."
He did not want to alert whoever it was that was manning the drill.

While he didn't really expect a 'Hi! How are you?' greeting, but he certainly didn't expect to be shoved to the ground and have the she-wolf try and strangle him. Though in her defense--she looked pretty spooked, so maybe sneaking up behind her and speaking without warning miiiight have not been such a good idea. Still, he didn't appreciate the fact that she still had her hands around his throat even after realizing who it was.
"Hey! That was--" He quickly dropped his voice to a harsh whisper when he noted that she was still speaking in hushed tones. "--that was my question! What's going on?---and can you please stop trying to kill me?" He asked, this last part was said with a slight grin, a little amused that she was in fact still keeping her hands firmly around his neck.
It wasn't until Ren called them over, that he gently shoved her off and sat up, offering her his hand to help her up. "What's got you so spooked?---other than me scaring you..." He muttered the last bit and tugged her in the direction of Ren and Jove.
Obviously the black dog was still oblivious.

She scowled down at Tybalt. Okay she felt a little bad about trying to kill him. And it was a nervous reflex keeping her hands at his neck. She was scared. And found it surprising that he wasn't. Then again, it was Tybalt. LW let out a deep breath, hands shaking slightly as she tried to let go of his neck. While hissing at him still.
"I-I don't know! Have you looked around? It's...it's home yet...not home. And there are the other two. And some 'thing' digging in the ground." The she-wolf knew she was probably making no sense at all. But Jackdamnit she just wanted to curl back up in her bed and be done with all this! Oh and find the other two. His last question earned a snort. "Don't sneak up on me, then!"
And then there was another voice whispering to them. One she knew anywhere. LW turned her head, glancing over her shoulder, until she saw the two figures appearing from the fog in the direction Tybalt was tugging her. And no, not those other two figures. Ren and Jove. Oh thank Jack! She finally let go of Tybalt - with his help - and took his hand to get back on her feet. It only took one or two tugs from Tybalt to get her moving, slightly unstable thanks to the ground, before she managed it on her own.
"Ren!" LW barely kept her voice at a whisper, that fearful feeling she had leaking out slightly in her tone. She all but jumped into the gryphon's arms as she threw her own around him. He was alright. And here. With Jove too.
"What's going on?" She asked in a hushed tone.

He probably should have said something like "No, LW, stop strangling your best friend," but Ren just let her do it anyway. Especially since not five seconds later she had darted quietly over towards him, her arms flying around his neck. Relief cascaded into every vein of Ren's body at seeing her - at seeing the both of them, he had to grudgingly admit - and he hugged LW close to him, burying his face in her hair and not wanting to let go.
He had to, eventually, but even after he stopped hugging her, Ren's fingers closed tightly around LW's, holding her hand against his side and keeping her close to him. He huddled with his three teammates - LW on his left and Jove and Tybalt on his right - and curled his wings around them protectively - lightly, so as to not restrict their movements, but enough to make himself feel secure.
"I don't know," he murmured, in answer to LW's question, a worried expression on his freckled face. He pressed his lips together and pulled everyone down, huddling behind the rock.
"I don't like the looks of this," Ren muttered. He did not really want to see what would happen if they drew the attention of the two figures by the drill.

Something seems to have separated from the mass of fog, staring hungrily in your direction. It tries to talk, but instead, hisses lowly, though you can make out a single word as it speaks.

Why were these things constantly attacking Jove? Granted the first had gone after him, but afterwards it had switched to the boil - and although Ren knew perfectly well that his little brother was capable of taking care of himself, he did not want this to happen again, not while they were trying to figure out what the Jack was going on.
"Stop it," he hissed, and launched himself towards the thing before it could get to Jove. His lashing out missed, but at least he had stepped in between.

Even before the note fluttered by, Jove recognized the militaristic way the two strangers were talking. Whether this was a dream or an alternate reality, or a hundred years in their future, the memories of his trip to the Deus headquarters was still too fresh in his mind. The rumbling growl returned, although it was thankfully not noticed by the pair disappearing into the fog. If hunters would be there, the pup certainly felt it would be a bad idea to follow. His attention was immediately diverted as he heard a new whisper, a new hissing shadow, which was quickly rushed by Ren. Baring his teeth, Jove snapped at it as well, although he seemed to be more interested in retreating than attacking. (( HP: 40/40 Target: Fog Shadow Damage: 2))

No... actually he hadn't looked around. In fact, it wasn't until the she-wolf literally pointed it out to him that the black noticed that something was wrong.
"Digging...in the ground..?" That only made him give LW a look of pure confusion. What on earth could possibly be below them? Was there some sort of subterranean creature they were unaware of maybe?
All questions remained unspoken however. Instead, they hid behind the boulder and eavesdropped on the two people standing a little further off. Which, perhaps was the better option. He didn't know either of them and they always seemed to find out more when listened in, rather than asking people directly.
"Looks fishy to me..." He muttered, remaining hidden until the two left. Though before he could ask questions some wisp like creature attacked Jove.
"The hell are these?" He demanded, lunging for the creature and tearing at it with his claws the second he was on his feet.

Attacks from multiple directions seem to confuse the wisp, so it lashes out in the direction it was last contacted. Its hissing continued, though now more faint.

The attack forced a growl from the black dog's throat. It was a small pain, nothing serious... He had faced worse before after all, but it was enough to tick him off. Whatever this creature was, he wanted nothing more than to end it and end it now.
With that in mind, he coiled his hand into a fist and swung it right into the creatures face, satisfied to see it actually hit and not--you know, phase through it or something.
"Can someone tell me what the hell these things are now?"

Ren remained crouched down behind the rock even after the two figures had disappeared, the fog creature dissipating once again into nothingness. Cautiously he eased himself up, eyes narrowing, ears perked for any sign of anything ill-favored, but it seemed as if the two had gone.
He could hear a faint fluttering sound. Ren frowned, gesturing towards the other group members.
"What's this?" he murmured, edging towards the tree. Slowly he reached out a hand, letting his fingers brush against the paper before smoothing it down so that he could read the big, black, blocky letters printed in the middle.
"THIS SECTOR HAS BEEN CLAIMED AND IS UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF DEUS EX MACHINA AS OF 12/31/1999."
Ren stared.
"What the hell does that mean?" he asked finally, a low growl in his throat. "1999? Deus Ex Machina? Doesn't that have something to do with the hunters?"
He did not want to find out. Ren turned back to LW, Jove, and Tybalt.
"Which way do you want to go?"

Jove re-attached himself to Ren's arm, his low growl vibrating in his little chest. It must have had something to do with the hunters. It meant this was their space now, not a good place for Halloween students.
But if the hunters controlled the grounds, Jove had to see if they similarly controlled the forest. HIS forest. With the mushrooms and wild birds, and enough little holes to hide a whole flock of foxfires. A fleet, even!
He gave Ren a little tug in that direction, the growl letting up momentarily.
