A breath was released from Squall as gramps scolded him, Though his maw remained relaxed as well as his expression. His head turned as he listened to his elder before his words became less and less distinguishable.
Shaking his head a little, Squall turned his head to the King, and nodded slowly. Respecting the advice given as well as the position Rotem held.
"It's for, who ever is hungry or not as spare to catch their own meal, sir."
With a light toss of his head another breath escaped him almost silently. "And you think I Would do well, to remember such a thing..." Squall answered in a quiet though strong voice. Letting his blue gaze drop to his claws he let his massive paw flex on and dig lightly in the ground.
"Though, some must still attend to matters that are out of others control..." He then sighed, before turning his mane to the Elder as the that had raised and watched over him in a good portion of his life. He was only returning the favor now, in his older age.

Ikkenna had slowly come to the end of his incoherent rant and moved to gnawing on the gazelle that was brought to him. His tail thumped on the ground before he looked up from the bloody carcass.
"My boy knows how to hunt right. Means well, but can be careless..." Ikkana tossed in between gnaws. *huff* "Always mind the elders. Wouldn't have to correct so much if ya younin's listen. Always chasin' the lionesses. BACK in my day we all knew who we were going with. Already had a lioness in mind, they knew how ta do a duty before comin' back. That was a sight ta see boy. A lioness back from a hunt and waiting for ya. That's how ya find a good female. She's got to be devoted."
Once again his rant trailed off before he returned to his meal.

Rotem smiled with good humor in his expression and shot a short sympathetic glance over towards the dark-coated Squall. The poor lion often found himself on the receiving end of Ikkena's... isms as they were fondly becoming known as. Squall took it well enough and let any criticism roll off his back without too much complaint. He had meant well but... well the poor boy was unlikely to change such an old lion this late in his life. Ikkenna was stubbornly set in his ways and it seemed with each passing season he lost a little bit of his once sharp wit.
"I wouldn't say careless." Rotem coaxed, "Just... overly-generous?"
Jaron rolled his eyes as he padded up to the small group of males resting by the watering hole. Squall had only just come off hunting duty and Ikkenna... well he wasn't exactly in any shape for tasks beyond what the role of a sage demanded. Sadly, that wasn't much.
He opened his mouth slowly, ready to add something to his father's statement when a group of shadows caught his eye. A large group...
"Father." He cut in, his tone sharp and stern.
Rotem's brow creased as he raised his head and turned to the border. The large canyon walls rising up to host their largest waterfall bore several slinking forms, passing over the painted cliffs. He frowned and cast a short look over to his son. With a stiff nod, Jaron turned his head towards the gathering huntresses.
"Ladies. Something's at the border- let's move."

(I hope you guys don't mind the little poke... ^.^' I thought it would be cool if we could continue this) Astar tried to hide her amusement at the words exchanged between the King and his son and eyed the other males with a more relaxed stance, even though she was still keeping close to her sister and Ahava.
Those moments of quiet relaxation ended when she picked up on Rotem’s change in tone and quickly turned to follow the King’s gaze and found the shapes in the distance. Her body tensed instantly. While the pride was friendly towards strangers, Astar’s former rogue life had ingrained in her a deep sense of suspicion towards those outside her family and she didn’t trust rogues easily.
“Kuma! Stay back.” She told her totem with an unusually firm voice as she lowered her body slightly and followed after Rotem.
---------
Kuma was a good distance away when the voice of the patched lioness reached him but he understood her words completely. He also chose to ignore them completely which was why it didn’t take long until he was standing right next to her much larger shape in the middle of a group of large felines, accompanying Astar as they approached other (large) felines in what could turn out to be a potential confrontation. Not the best place for a wild dog but Kuma wasn’t about to let Astar go into a fight without him.
“It’s pointless to argue.” He told her simply when she seemed to be about to protest to his presence. “You know I’m not going to leave you.”

"Good to see you, Kuma." The lioness regarded her sister's totem warmly, before being distracted by the other lions in their gathering.
Talia chuckled quietly to herself at the exchange between Jaron and Rotem, a grin etched across her thin lips. Her thoughts and attention were pulled away, however, when a high pitched keening from above sounded. She glanced up, happy to see her familiar returning. The osprey was well fed, her belly full of fish. The raptor perched on her lioness's back, talons digging into the pelt the female wore for the sole purpose of allowing Janntje to rest on her back without causing pain or discomfort. The osprey had little to say other than a simple command.
"Listen to Rotem. Something is there."
She didn't sound too alarmed, but she never did. She was almost always even keeled and was more interested than worried. She did give Talia's ear a gentle, brief preen.
"But be careful."
The lioness nodded and turned her gaze in the direction her king had indicated and a small frown replaced the smile her maw had held only moments ago. She quickly followed Rotem and Astar. Her tan tipped tail flicked with anticipation and healthy concern over what they would meet.
"Rotem, would you like me to have Janntje fly ahead?"

Ahava stayed mostly quiet after the arrivals of the other's only greeting each member in turn as they approached. It seemed that more of the male member seemed to be out and about this morning and she was wondering what was happening with the huntresses.
She bristled slightly at Jaron's behavior rolling her eyes. Still the mood was light and it warmed Ahava's heart in this time when she was missing her brother so. She still had her duties to attend to though and she was strong lioness, not willing to miss a beat.
She sat listening to the chatter, but Jaron's voice brought her out of her mind's drifting. It was a tone she wasn't use to hearing, she turned her eyes to the border noticing the group and frowned slightly.
She rose and followed with the others heading for the border looking to Talia, Astar and Kuma. "Stay close," she said despite Astar and Talia being adults, Ahava still felt the need to issue a warning.

Kuma had nodded to his companion’s sister with a small smile. Being so close to Astar, he had come to now Talia rather well. Now they were following Rotem and the wild dog could only think about keeping the green-eyed lioness safe which was a rather difficult task when he was so much smaller the felines that had gathered on the spot. Because of this, he was relieved that Ahava seemed to be feeling a little protective of the younger lionesses.
Unlike Talia’s totem, his scouting abilities were pretty useless in this particular situation but he hoped he could serve as a distraction if a serious battle were to take place. If necessary, he would lay down his life for Astar even without her asking.
----------------
“Alright, but stay behind me.” Astar told her totem, not willing to admit how much his presence both comforted and encouraged her. Her mentor’s words, as well as her sister’s even tone also served to further calm the naturally-anxious lioness. As long as those she cared for were around, Astar was quite fierce in a fight though she’d never had to battle another lion. Hopefully, today was not going to be the first time it happened.
She nodded at Ahava when her mentor spoke, feeling a great deal of safety as she walked between two of the lionesses she was closest to.

A beast shifted in the distance. Hard, flame-like eyes were narrowed and a firm scowl was set on the beast's lips, despite markings that perpetually gave him a grin.
For days, now, weeks even, dreams had been setting the stage. He could not see what came after and he hoped his seed would be spread with that lioness, in the event that he did not live. It was silly to think that he, [Nefarian], would perish this day... But he did not possess his father's immortality. He was no god, but a mere mortal. A very large, ruthless mortal, but a mortal none-the-less. He came to these lands at his father's beckoning, to tread where his father could not. As much as he liked to think he was a free lion, a powerful lion, he was but a slave to the God of Hate, answering his every beck and call. His dreams had led him here, to take control over a small band of creatures and to infiltrate the only place his father could not. He was to enter En Gedi, a pride blessed by the God of Peace, and shatter them.
The scowl was replaced by a smug grin as he watched figures move in the distance, their targets no doubt, before turning to face the team that his father had cursed in preparation for this mission. They would serve as his allies until their usefulness was over, or so he had been led to believe by the dreams and visions he had been having as of late. Should there be victory, he doubted he would ever see his comrades in Maestros Del Mar again, despite his promise to Blackbeard. He did not plan on losing.
"Comrades, to me." He cleared his throat before speaking, his voice smooth and inviting, despite his less than comforting appearance.
"He could have left us more to work with."
"This is plenty."
"So you say, so you say. It would be better for it if he were actually here."
"Father is busy, you know this."
Quietly, he conversed with himself as he watched each and every feline that had fallen under his father's firm control. Hopefully, this victory would be an easy one.

Rotem’s normally playful demeanor hardened into a dangerously somber one. He gave a short nod of his head towards Talia. Thank the gods for winged totems. “Send her ahead and have her give us an idea of what’s waiting for us on the border… and be careful.” He added more gently. “Don’t get any closer than you need to. See if they seem… lost.”
It was likely, after all. They had found a small family of lions upon their arrival within the valley but they had been anything but threatening. Astar was proof enough of that but they certainly couldn’t be certain. They couldn’t afford to be reckless.
Jaron stood himself up a little taller. “If they aren’t…lost,” He asked, his voice low, “What should we do? There’s not that many of us here… I don’t think we have time to fetch the huntresses or the warriors…”
Rotem grunted. “Don’t get ahead of yourself, son…”

OOC Seems we've hit a wall with the metaplot. So I'll be working on a summary of events once more to wrap things up so those interested in RPing within the pride, getting certs, and moving past the metaplot time frame can do so.
