Meadow hadn’t meant to offend the Scyther, she had no idea that he had been grasping for the very word she had used; she couldn’t help but feel a bit bad. She didn’t want to show him up. When he moved on to the next topic, she couldn’t help but be a bit relieved. “Yeah, only time will tell on that.” She couldn’t help but laugh at his next comment, “Good luck telling them that!”
“Well,” Meadow explained, her ever present smile still on her face, “I sort of started with the easy stuff. I use to live on a dairy farm, but still, they grew a lot of vegetables for their own use. I know most of them by sight. I figured we could start off easy then work towards the hard stuff!” Looking down at her list, she added, “I think….. that the spices would be next….oh! The peanut butter might be between us and them….” She did have a vague idea where some of the things were located, but, for the most part, she was guessing. At least they were educated guesses?
She couldn’t tell how certain he was in his decision to join them for dinner, but, at least he agreed to it, even if he seemed reluctant. She was glad though, she couldn’t imagine him not liking it. Plus, she would be able to meet his family as well! She loved meeting new people! “Well, when do you think you can come over? I will be sure to make a nice big meal for you are your family! Um, do you or the rest of your family have any favorite foods?”

Endymion shook his head, a bit at a loss but mostly to show that he knew there wasn't any way he could do that if he tried. "I'm not the most persuasive of people," he noted, "If you couldn't find a way to convince them of something like that, there's no way I'd be able to." Yes, he was well aware that Meadow had easily convinced him to enter a building he had never intended to ever set foot in, but wasn't sure if that move was seriously intentional. He didn't exactly have a good grasp on the idea of manipulation, especially when there was no ill purpose behind it.
"Ah, that would make sense," Endymion mused, glancing around. He supposed most of the aisles probably didn't have as wide a range of things you could actually cook with, so it would be more of a headhunt through the shelves. It was a slightly discouraging idea, because he knew he probably couldn't help by actually taking anything to the cart, and would just have to keep calling the teen over to grab something. It didn't sound particularly helpful. He shrugged, suggesting, "We could just go down all the aisles and pick things up off the list as we go?" At least they might not miss anything that way, but then again... the boy would have to guess what was written on that extensive list of her's. He perked at the last ingredient listed, taking a few steps forward and jabbing a blade toward the shelving that boxed in the fruits and vegetables section. There was some bread on display, along with a few other common items, such as jam and peanut butter, "Might not have to go very far, after all."
Meadow's excitement over the entire dinner plan, although cause for some anxiety, made Endymion smile a bit. You couldn't really be disappointed in something when the host was so eager like that. Besides, she made it sound like it would be simple enough to take it easy without being pestered too much, which he supposed he could deal with, even if it was a bit of a crowd. Thinking about time restraints, he spoke after a moment of deliberation, "I think we're heading out in about a month, though I'm not sure where exactly. So... it'd have to be sometime this month. We don't really work off of plans other than that, so time-wise, it should be free. I'm pretty sure one wouldn't have plans, the other definitely wouldn't, but Nix..." He wasn't even sure if she wanted the trainers to come, but he figured it'd be fine if he didn't bring the man; it was hardly possible to pull him away from work long enough as it was. "I'm not particularly picky. Terp's favorite food is curry, and I suspect Margarita would eat anything. Um... careful not to use your best dishes around her or anything, just in case," he advised. He was fairly certain if she didn't try to eat the plates, she might just try throwing them.

“Well, nothing wrong with not being persuasive; just don’t let yourself get persuaded into things you don’t want to do,” Meadow replied with a smile and a nod. She could be persuasive, at times, but she didn’t try and be forceful about it. It was better to give a slight nudge and just open up the possibility, not to push someone in.
“Yeah, that would probably be the easiest way to avoid missing anything,” Meadow agreed with a nod of her head. Looking at Endy’s outstretched blade, Meadow added, as she made her way towards the shelving, “Yeah, we might not need to go that far at all. There appears to be some peanut butter and jam right there. We also could use some sliced bread, for sandwiches…. I do need some flour as well, though…. All purpose…. bread flour….. wheat flour…… I make my own bread; it tastes so much better! Still, we go through so many sandwiches, that it helps to have a few loaves on hand.” Looking at the peanut butters and jellies, she continued, “I bet, if I tried, I could even make the peanut butter and the jam….. Maybe I will try that later?” She then set to work grabbing various peanut butters; a jar of creamy peanut butter, a jar of crunchy peanut butter, a jar of peanut butter that seemed to be blended with chocolate, a jar of spicy peanut butter, and a jar of nutella. Next she moved on to the jams and jellies. In her cart she placed a jar of strawberry, one of boysenberry, 2 mixed berries, a jar of cheery, and one of marmalade. Finally she grabbed 6 loaves of bread; two loafs of white, one of wheat, 2 of potato, and one loaf of sourdough. “I think that should do it for over here….”
“Hmm, that could work,” Meadow replied happily. She was excited as the prospect of him coming over and of meeting some new people! She couldn’t wait to meet them all! She would have to make a feast! “I can make curry!” the militank exclaimed, “Does she like it really spicy? I don’t really eat spicy food, but I could make it spicy! Oh and um, I don’t cook or eat meat…. “ She seemed to shudder slightly at the mention of meat, but then , after a momentary paused, she continued, “So it would be a vegetarian meal; I hope you don’t mind. I do use dairy and eggs though, as long as they are cage free.”

Endymion couldn't help but smile wryly at the comment, of not being persuaded into something he didn't really want to do, as it was almost as though Meadow had done that exact thing by goading him into coming into the store. However, if he thought about it more than just as a passing amusement, he may come to find that he didn't really want to stay outside, either; this course was the lesser of two evils, so to speak. The same sort of conclusion could be drawn from the dinner plans. Despite not grasping this, he nodded and accepted the request, "I'll try."
The boy remained near the cart as Meadow eased it over to grab the materials she was looking for. He watched as she tossed the items into the cart, "It's a pretty small store, from what the other places look like in town... so I don't think it should take too long, all things considered." He listened as the teen listed and explained the items she was snatching, though he hadn't really thought of the effort that really went into making or preparing food, since he hadn't the capabilities to do so himself. "If you like cooking, I don't see why you couldn't try it. As long as it's not too difficult..." he suggested, growing increasingly alarmed by how much the miltank was grabbing. Didn't one need to trade something for all these items in the human world? Did she even have enough? "How are you going to get all this home?" he asked, a bit concerned considering they had only been through one aisle thusfar.
Endymion, of course, had never had this 'curry' that Terpsichore seemed to fancy so much, so was completely unaware that there were different types. He stared blankly for a moment, at a loss, but then started to think of the other types of food that she liked that he actually had tried before. So he shook his head in simple reply, "No, she doesn't tend to like spicy things, either." The scyther boy found it a bit odd that Meadow wouldn't like any sort of meat before he thought about what type of pokémon she was. While he didn't put two-and-two together as to the type of meat, he did know that miltank pokémon were herbivores. So it passed to this form as well, did it? Even though humans could eat all sorts of food? He didn't comprehend that, just maybe, it was out of choice. "That's fine with me," he replied, "Like I said, I'm not particularly picky. As long as it's good, there isn't really a problem." He smirked, half-hearted, considering he wasn't sure if it was a very nice joke to make.

“Well that is all I can ask,” Meadow stated with a nod. “We don’t want anyone twisting your arm,” she added, completely oblivious to the fact that if anyone literally tried that, they would likely lose theirs in the process.
“Maybe I will give it a try,” she answered, looking back at the scyther with a smile, “Do you like peanut butter and jams? I could try to make some when you and your family comes over for dinner….” Having gotten everything she needed from this section, she made her way to the next aisle, the spice aisle. At the opposite end it also had flours and related cooking products, but she was starting on the spice end. “Actually,” she began, “for the walk home, I do have two helpers. Honey and Lilly, the Combee and Lilligant I mentioned. They have a wagon with them, which should make the trip considerably easier. Right now, though, they are ‘treasure hunting’ in a candy shop.”
“Oh ok, I don’t really care for spicy all the much either… I don’t think any of my roommates do, actually….though I might be mistaken. Sweets are what most of them seem to like the most…. I like sweet things, though I really love sour things. I know your not picky, but do you like sour things? Like lemons and limes? Speaking of lemons…. Lemon meringue pie…. Maybe I will make one of those when you visit…. Does that sound good to you Endymion? And maybe a pecan pie…. And strawberry rhubarb pie… chocolate cream…. We should have some cake too though….” As she listed off the various desserts, she seemed to become lost in thought, momentarily oblivious to her surroundings. Shaking her head slightly, she suddenly added, “Sorry about that; I momentarily was lost in thought.”

Endymion snorted a half-laugh at the comment, still trying to resist standing out in the middle of the grocery store while still being amused by her... rather amusing visuals that she was offering. He considered the sandwich idea that she offered thoughtfully before replying with any sort of definitive, "Actually... I don't think anyone really dislikes that, at least in sandwich form. I don't see why not... unless it's... actually difficult to make." He frowned as he looked back to her, adamant about her not going too far out of her way and end up stressing herself out. Shopping like this was enough to tire anyone out, and cooking all of it up had got to have been an even bigger endeavor by at least ten times. Trying something new would only add to such a large pile of stress! Obviously, he knew the ins and outs when it came to anxiety.
Following down the spice aisle, he prodded at a shelf and asked, "Let me know what side I should be shoveling into the cart." He stuck his tongue out as though poking slight fun, but he was actually serious. He could slide a row of spices and seasonings easily enough into the cart, and he was eager to actually help for once on this little jaunt through the store. He blinked when Meadow had mentioned what the two girls, Lilly and Honey, were doing elsewhere, and almost started laughing at the choice words. He snickered a little, though, before he replied, "Good that you have help, that should definitely make things easier!" He wouldn't feel so badly having to leave early, in that case. Nix himself hadn't had a lot to get in here, after all, and Endymion would have to leave after that, or be faced with a trainer with way too many questions for the miltank girl.
It was good to know that most of the individuals staying with Meadow had similar tastes. It would make it easier not to pick something up and bite into it, only to find that he actually didn't really like it. That not only went for him, but the grimer and shroomish that were coming along for the ride. He'd hate for Margarita to start a food fight because of something so fickle... or, really, any 'reason' at all. "I like sour well enough, as long as it's not in large quantities. It starts... making everything else taste funny," he pointed out with a bit of a face at the thought. He watched Meadow as she started listing off pies, but was at a bit of a loss; he hadn't exactly ever had a pie, really, as Nix wasn't exactly big on anything sweet and was a lousy cook. The scyther child, however, couldn't come up with a reason not to try it out, so wasn't going to stand in her way should she want to make something like that, "It... does sound good." Good, in a way; he liked trying new things when it came to some subjects. He smiled when she apologized, finding that getting lost in thought was only something that he could relate to, not something to fault at all.

“Yeah, I don’t think I have ever heard any complaints… Actually, they can be pretty good even outside of a sandwich,” Meadow replied with a mock innocent grin, as she thought back to a previous night when she had eaten some directly out of the jar with a spoon. Both were so delicious, and they could only be made better if homemade! “Well, something like that, would probably be best made a day or two in advance, So, even if it was tricky, it wouldn’t get in the way of the rest of the cooking!”
Examining the list, and then looking back at the shelves, she pointed first at two shelves, and then motioned to half of a third. “Those two rows and that half of that one,” she stated, in a completely serious tone. She needed to get a lot of spices. After pointing those out, she proceeded to grab the few bottles that she needed, that weren’t near any others. “Yeah, they are both very helpful, just easily distracted by ‘adventures.’ But I don’t know how I would make it back, with all these groceries, without them. Luckily, with the two of them and the wagon, I don’t have to worry about that.”
“They are delicious!” Meadow eagerly replied. All of this pie talk was serving to make her rather hungry. She could probably manage a whole pie herself, at the moment. Maybe she could make one when she got home! Just because she was planning on making pies for the Scyther’s visit, didn’t mean she couldn’t make some in the meantime! A lemon meringue would be good; she would set to work on one when she got home and, maybe, she would share. She couldn’t help but giggle. She would of course share it with her roommates, but the thought of keeping the whole pie to herself was amusing.

Endymion had to think the notion over a bit of having the sandwich condiments on their own, separate from the confines of slices of bread. He could imagine easily enough how good they could taste all on their own despite not having tried it before. While most children may have long since tried the ingredients with curious fingers, Endymion hadn't really spent a long enough time exposed to the normal foods of a human. He just ate what was offered to him. It made sense now, thinking back to when Margarita was scolded for shoving her fists into such containers, most likely to try the substances on their own -- nobody really had asked her before she would run off, giggling delightedly. He glanced at the teen questioningly, as though he still wasn't sure that was enough time with all the preparations she'd have to make with all the other dishes she was planning on fixing, but the intensity softened when he realized one crucial flaw: what did he know about cooking? Maybe it wasn't all that difficult, especially when she was so gung-ho about it. "Well I hope you have just as much fun fixing it as you do taste-testing it," he remarked with a smile.
The scyther child was taken aback slightly by how quickly Meadow had considered his almost-ridiculous question as sincerity, but was simultaneously glad that he didn't have to explain himself in the face of a confused expression. It managed to induce a bit of confidence after the momentary shock factor of how many spices the miltank girl actually wanted. As he started sliding the first row contents of one of the shelves into the cart, he inquired, "So you do a lot of cooking, don't you? I haven't seen so many different kinds of spices before!" It was rather interesting, and he wondered how anyone would remember what seasonings worked best with which dishes. Did she have an encyclopedia of this sort of thing?
With the two child-pokémon in mind, Endymion found that he knew exactly what Meadow meant when she interpreted Honey and Lilly's antics. However, it came from a more unlikely source, "They get too caught-up in something and end up getting themselves lost, don't they?" From the sound of it, they could easily find their way back on track, at least. Maybe it was teamwork, or maybe one of them just had a good sense of direction, but at least Meadow was confident that they'd help her out.
Endymion smirked as he watched the bubbly teen reminisce on the wonders of pie. She seemed to really like the dish, so he was certain that he could do the same. In fact, she seemed really eager to be fixing all of these ingredients into combined, edible dishes... maybe it actually wasn't a hassle at all to her. Was it more of a hobby? She had said that she was doing it as appreciation for being taken in by some rather kind individuals, it would make sense if she showed it by putting her heart into something she liked doing anyway. The boy was starting to feel a little bad about crashing something like that, but shook it off: he promised to come, and she probably only saw it as an excuse to fix more, as though she wanted to in the first place. "So do you cook a lot, then?"

“Oh, they are both ever so much fun,” Meadow replied with a nod, as she continued to browse for more ingredients to add to her cart. There was so much to get. It was probably going to take her a while; she didn’t know how long she could keep him. “Um, you don‘t need to get going soon do you? I’m not keeping you right? I do enjoy the company though.” Listening to his guess at their antics, she couldn’t help but agree. “Yeah, that does sound pretty accurate.” She couldn’t help but giggle. She couldn’t help but wonder how he was able to so accurately guess what they were like. “You’re sure you haven’t me them already, right?” she jokingly asked.
“Oh, I cook all the time! And I probably do go through a lot of spices….but that is to be expected right? You need a lot of spices to make a lot of food!” Meadow answered, a smile spread across her lips, as she reminisced on the multitude of dishes she has prepared. “It’s so much fun to cook; you should try it sometime!” The fact that cooking might be a tad more difficult for an individual with scythes for hands didn’t even cross her mind. “Actually, I tend to find it rather relaxing, even when things seem all hectic, like when trying to fix multiple dishes at once, that all require different temperatures and cooking times, with limited space.”

Endymion tried to consider how someone so hyperactive could be labeled as being 'fun' when it seemed more like a hassle, especially when the amount of it was doubled. He knew he had trouble relating to the outside world like that, however, so wasn't surprised when he couldn't find a way to agree with Meadow's sentiment on the matter. He kind of wished he could... but certain aspects kept him from feeling like he was capable of it; he wasn't even sure how he was able to get along with Meadow, really. He followed the teen as she perused through the ingredients, jumping slightly when she had asked how long he could stay. Well... he actually didn't know how long they had been in here. Was Nix even still around? The child turned to glance out of the large front window to see if the researcher was waiting for him, only to see the leashed dog from earlier trying to coax attention out of someone who just left the store. "Well, I was just, um... waiting for someone. They came in here, and so I just... decided to stay out there..." he tried to explain without admitting that he hadn't wanted to enter. He fidgeted some; she actually liked his company? He wasn't annoying? Offering a small smile, he shook his head, "No, I've never met another pokémon like that, really. My, um... my friend is a bit like that, though. Without the hyperactivity, that is." Hmm... well he got along with Nix, maybe he had the capability of getting along with two kids with attention problems? Then again, he couldn't say he necessarily got along with Margarita... but that relationship wasn't really on bad terms, either.
He almost agreed with Meadow's question, as an automatic reflex, before he caught himself to respond to it more honestly, "Well, I don't really cook... Um, but I would imagine that you would go through a lot of it!" Nix wasn't the best example in that area either, the researcher being quite the horrible cook when it came to anything... 'fancy,' as he liked to put it. He considered her offer of trying to cook, glancing at his bladed hands with a frown. Well, if she thought he could... "Maybe we could get there early, and I could try helping some? Th-that is, um... if you don't mind instructing me..." he offered, though didn't want to needlessly add to her workload. She was already going to be so busy that day, he wasn't sure if she could handle so many things at once.
The scyther noticed a figure headed for the checkout counter that he recognized, and pointed him out with a small jab of a hand, "I-is that the place people go when they're going to leave?" Well, that wasn't very graceful timing, Nix...

“Oh, so you aren’t sure how long you can stay then?” Meadow replied, hoping that she wasn’t making anyone wait by taking him with her. She didn’t want to be an imposition. “Oh? Your friend is like that’? Yeah they can be rather active, especially when they get into something sweet.” Giggling, she added, “And I am sure they are doing that right now, getting into something sweet I mean, what with the candy store and all.”
“Sure! You can help out! It will be fun! And for some things, it is best to wait till the last minute, so that it is still warm and fresh at meal time,” Meadow exclaimed in response. She followed the ‘more the merrier’ school of thought as opposed to the ‘too many cooks spoil the broth’ philosophy, not that she made much broth. She had, in the past, tried her hand at vegetable broth, but was rather opposed to both the chicken and beef varieties, the beef for more obvious reasons. Looking at Endy’s outstretched scythe, she replied, “Yeah, that is where people go to pay.”

Endy hesitated for a moment, first nodding to respond to Meadow's question before he quickly shook it to recant his answer, "Um, well, actually... It's that I'm just here until my f-friend is done with their shopping. I didn't know how long they were going to take, though, so... so I didn't know how long I could stay." Wow, that was a longer explanation than he meant to give. He gave a sheepish grin, "Well, he's sort of like that. Um... he is easily distracted when he focuses too hard on something. It's... probably a bit different than what you meant..." He shuddered when the teenager mentioned the two children getting into something sweet, "Ah, I hope that doesn't happen too often!" That could lead to such destructive results... "You going to be okay, getting home?" Or were they going to deviate off-course? It almost sounded like the two of them were in need of a babysitter, to keep from getting into too much trouble!
While he was still shy about showing it, he grinned knowing that he might be of some use at the dinner event in helping prepare it. While he wouldn't voice it, he was also wondering if helping out also gave him a way out of interacting with all those other people Meadow had mentioned. Okay, so he wasn't completely against meeting them, sure, but... he was still much too self-conscious to do it for very long. Even if there were a lot of them helping, there was probably less talking in the kitchen when everyone was working... right? He sighed when the miltank offered an affirmative for his question about the checkout stands, since he didn't really want to leave so soon. Meadow was so friendly and unassuming... "Well, that guy over there is the one I've been waiting for, so I should probably get out of your hair here soon. Um... how am I suppose to find the place? And when were you having this event?" He tried to glance at the list in her hands, attempting to get something else in the cart before he had to actually leave. Nix was still in line, Endymion had a bit more time to kill.

“Oh, so you were just waiting till he finished shopping, hopefully we don’t miss him,” the concern in her voice was evident. “I will get home just fine,” Meadow added with a smile, “They might be off getting into sweets now, but when it is time for us to head home, I am sure they will be very helpful. They always are. The sweets will just give them all the more energy to get everything home, and then they will probably run around for a bit once we all get back. Thank you for the concern though.”
“So that is your friend, well, I am glad we didn’t make him wait, and it looks like you have a few more minutes yet. As for how to get to where I live…” Pausing a moment, she reached into her pockets, feeling around for something to write with and on. Pulling out a scrap of paper, and a pen, she drew a rough map to her house, labeling where she felt it was necessary, and wrote down a date, so that he didn’t have to worry about forgetting when it was between now and then. “I’m not that good at drawing maps, but how is this?” she asked as she handed him the paper.

"He won't leave without me," Endymion quickly reassured, shaking his head before halting with a quiet addition, "At least... I don't think he'd forget me here..." He frowned at the thought; there was no telling just how forgetful Nix might be, considering they had only been traveling together for the past few months. The child was reassured when Meadow insisted that the two girls heading over with the wagon would be of help, "Well you would know them best." He smiled at that, giving a sharp nod at the gratitude offered though unsure if he was really deserving of it; he hadn't actually done anything but worry!
Endymion watched curiously as the teenager fumbled around for something to write the directions down with. Peering over the side of the cart, he followed the lines as they were scribbled onto the piece of paper. He recognized that she was writing some things down alongside parts of the doodle, which caused him to sink a little, unable to make out what was written. He'd have to ask about that later, but considering Terpsichore and Margarita were coming, he'd be able to feel less nervous about asking either of them for help in reading it out of the blue. He could understand the numbers as they were also scrawled, and he scanned it altogether when the miltank offered the map to him, carefully pinching it in the closest wrist to the piece of paper. It didn't seem too difficult to follow, despite the hasty completion, "I think this should be just fine. And is this... from here? The ah... city, that is?"

“Well that’s good,” Meadow started, though, upon hearing his correction, she added, “Well, I think it is good, at least if he doesn’t forget you. Maybe I shouldn’t keep you any longer, just in case.” Grinning at his comment, she stated, “Well they do like to run around, but when something needs to get done, they are more than willing to help.”
Nodding, Meadow stated, “Yep, that is the city here. I wasn’t sure exactly where you would be coming from, but this is a landmark we both know.” Smiling, she continued, “And that there, at the end, is where we live. Does everything make sense? I don’t really draw maps often. You can tell those are trees and that those are mountains and that that is a river, right? It makes sense?” She didn’t even realize that she had asked if it made sense more than once; she just wanted to make sure that it did.
