"The risk is there. But there's always going to be some degree of risk. It's a matter of who's willing to take it," he said quietly. Though, Shun's train of thought soon switched as Mitsu placed the ice pack gently onto his head. Furrowing his brow, he nodded and held it in place. There was a sort of light of amusement in his eyes. Subtle as usual, however.
"You always take so good care of me.." he said lightly.

Mitsu's eyes softened a bit and she leaned forward pressing a light kiss to her reaper's lips. Pulling back she looked into Shun's eyes sadly. "Someone has to."
She brushed the hair away from his face realizing she might be on her own with caring about his well being. He often didn't care about what happened to himself and it worried her greatly. Sure she had experienced dying now but that didn't change her outlook really. It still gave her a bit of panic every time wondering if she was every going to see her friends again. The relief only came when they were well within sight and safe.
"Are any of the other places I hit you bad off?" She asked pulling back so that she could lift his shirt and examine the side where she had kicked him. At least she had been mindful of clawing...though honestly she wished he would fight without the daggers from time to time. Would he feel handi-capped if he didn't use them? Perhaps that was something they needed to work on.
On that though she brought another idea to mind that she had been thinking about. "Shun, ummm..." She wasn't sure how to start this random topic change...but she had already said something. Think. Think. "When the weather gets warmer...I want to take you swimming."

Shun'e expression softened at her statement before looking down as she lifted his shirt to check for other bruises. Indeed, there were several others where she had struck. The shoulder she had punched had one forming as well.
"Not too bad. Nothing more than the usual," he said while looking them over.
At the mention of swimming, he paused and furrowed his brow.
"You want.. to take me swimming? There won't be much swimming on my part though."

"M...maybe I should have clarified." Mitsu realized her mistake then.
Since she felt his face had enough time with the ice Mitsu gently took the ice pack and placed it on his shoulder for the time being.
"I want to take you out and teach you how to swim. You need to learn." Because she was deathly afraid that at some point she wasn't going to be there to help.

There was a mild look of discomfort upon his face as the ice was placed onto his shoulder. It wasn't the most pleasant feeling, but he was focusing more on what Mitsu was suggesting here.
"I am not certain that is possible. You've seen how it goes. I just sink. I don't even float," Shun frowned. He had his doubts that swimming was really something he was capable of doing.

"Of course it is." Mitsu said with reassurance. "You sink because your density is higher than the water. Probably from your muscle mass and no real fat." She poked him a bit as if that would drive her point home. "It just means you have to exert more effort to stay afloat or move."
She sat back a bit looking him over. "I'm...not saying you'll be a pro but being able to stay afloat a couple minutes could mean the difference. You could manage to swim to something you could hold on to or even to a ledge where you can climb out instead of sinking and drowning." She visibly shuttered wanting to avoid that fate if possible. "I'm afraid...I might not always be there to help. Will you at least try?"

Well that made sense, but Shun still had a bit of doubt here. Swimming was never something he was really able to do. On land, he had all the mobility; able to scale walls, do flips, and whatnot. In the water, he just sank no matter what he did. Generally the only way he had out was if he could shadow step out or if someone pulled him.
"I can try but I can't guarantee there will be much of a result," he said quietly.

"As long as you try. And I will be there to help. We won't go anywhere too deep. Besides swimming can be fun." Gingerly she laid down beside him trying to be mindful of the smaller cuts that she didn't bother to cover.
Once she was in place she relaxed, her hand coming up so that it could idly toy with a piece of his hair. "I'm sure you'll do well...and if not I'll get you some floaties for your birthday." She teased in a whisper.

Shun furrowed his brow at this, especially with the mention of fun. This was something that still eluded him. Being able to swim would indeed be a useful skill, but he wasn't so sure about this whole 'fun' thing.
Though, he soon just gave her a stare as she mentioned getting him floaties for his birthday.
"...."
He didn't know what to say to that.

Seeing his flat expression and stare Mitsu started to giggle. "I'm just joking." She tried to reassure, smiling brightly as she nuzzled closer. "I wouldn't do that to you." Unless she had to she added mentally.
"By the way I know when your birthday is but...don't reaper's have a second one?" It confused her a little but she might as well ask. "Do you still do gifts on the second birthday?"

The Reaper seemed to relax at that, and he even sort of leaned against her a bit while he was laying down. Though, he raised an eyebrow once more.
"Technically, yes we do. The day we receive our weapons or familiar," he confirmed, "And well.. I never really receive gifts regardless of the occasion."
The first real gifts he received were pretty much from this past Christmastival.

"You...never got gifts?" Mitsu's brow creased together. Even she had received gifts. Her brother had always tried to get her something even if it was small. The only time she hadn't received anything was from the point he disappeared to the day Shun came back from his trip and gave her a plushie.
"I will have to change that then," She looked to be thinking. "So is it close to your other birthday? I think I will get you something for both." Twice the gifts, slowly she would make up for his lack of presents.

"Not really, no. Unless you count extra training to be a gift," he said in a rather neutral tone. Turning towards her, he looked at her a bit curiously.
"You don't have to get me anything. I don't really celebrate either one," Shun said, "But it's the twelfth of the Short October."
So basically, a month ago.

"Aww, Short October?" Drat, then she had already missed it. Mitsu felt bad she hadn't asked before. "Well, I'll have to get you something soon then to make up for it. Because I want to."
It still struck her as odd that Shun was still so detached from celebrating and having fun. Mitsu really hoped to turn that around at least a little. Everyone deserved to enjoy something and have some time to unwind. Especially Shun.

"You really don't have to.." he said. Shun didn't want her to feel obliged to get him anything really. He didn't expect to receive any gifts from anyone, including her. Though, he could see why she might want to.
The reaper found it to be rather enjoyable to give things to Mitsu after all.
