Noir wasn't the type to reveal her name so easily to a stranger. Then again, she also wasn't the type to allow strangers into her home. Regardless, she deflected the question, hoping to learn his name first. "I'm not sure. Typically my name isn't my most heavily guarded secret, but given the circumstances, my priorities have shifted slightly. A vixen must always have something to hide, after all."
"I suppose that since you trust your self with your own life, I shouldn't worry about it for now." She dropped the subject, deciding to take his word for it. Noir looked around the cave again, feeling proud after his compliments. "That is actually very nice to hear," she said. "I enjoy the praise. It's almost a pity that I'm too paranoid to show off to other foxes." Noir turned back to the other 'Daeva, a smirk appearing as she said, "My... pretty face, on the other hand, I've no problem flaunting."

Yeah, real smooth deflection. Summanus grinned to himself, a new idea forming in his cunning mind. He, however had no problem sharing his name, all the better to spread renown. "Well then, my name would be Summanus, little miss nameless." Hrm, he liked the sound of that.
His evil plan was about to unfold, only question was; would she agree? Summanus was up for some fun, and why not spend it with a lovely vixen? He just hoped a particular someone wouldn't decide to pop in and ruin it. Sunset was still a few hours away, but it was all the better to wait.
"I suppose i could relieve you of your paranoia...maybe. How about i leave this cave and don't come back- unless you want me back of course. But...I'm afaid there's a bit of a catch..." He paused, devilish glint in his eye.
" Could i tempt you to spend this evening with me?"

What was this fox attempting to achieve with such a proposal? Noir was as suspicious as ever, but she was also intruiged by the offer. It certainly did ensure the safety of her treasures and the privacy of her home, since Noir was sure she would never invite him back again. One evening wouldn't be a problem at all.
Still, Noir didn't answer right away. "What precisely do you suggest we do, Summanus?" She asked instead. "I confess, I'm not familiar with what most foxes do on such impromptu night outings. Depending on whatever it is you're planning, I'll most likely agree to your terms."

"Most likely? Yes, i suppose you would, being such a master thief and all." His voice was slick as honey, cogs turning in his head.
He cleared his throat before explaining. " Lets say I found a little Human encampment, and it's filled with Human thieves. Lets say that they stole something very valuable, and tomorrow they'll be moving out." His eyes glinted dangerously. "Now, i'm not too good with subtlety and sneaking and s**t like that...but you...Well, think you're good enough to out-thief the thieves?"
With this her turned, slinking out of the cave with a dark laugh. Casually, he called over his shoulder his parting words.
"I'll be back at sundown, Nameless. Meet me at the entrance if you're game."

Summanus hadn't given Noir much time to respond before walking away towards the exit of the cave. She remained where she was, listening as his laugh echoed off the walls, followed closely by his parting words. The entrance at sundown. She's be there, undoubtedly. He was right, after all. Noir was a master thief. And a challenge like the one Summanus had presented could never go ignored.
After a while, Noir wanted to wait until she was sure Summanus had found his way back to the exit and was really gone, she returned to the mouth of the cave herself. She had forgotten, in all this excitement, about her food. It lay waiting where she had left it, completely untouched at the entrance. Noir could eat, then, as she awaited the sunset. It was still a few hours off.
In the time it took for the allotted time to approach Noir had time to finish her food and pace back and forth considering strategy. Strategy was a hard thing to consider under the circumstances, though. Noir didn't know how many human thieves she'd be dealing with, or the size of this 'very valuable something.' Technically it shouldn't affect her work much, since Noir always stole things on impulse, but Summanus... Well, she wasn't sure what his role in this whole thing was going to be. Would he help her? Would he actually be able to help?
Noir contemplated the possibilities, pacing at the entrance of the cave, so absorbed in her thoughts that she didn't even notice the sun beginning to lower on the horizon.

Summanus was no fool to go in without at least knowing what he was up against. Just the night before he had his daughter to look at the area. she was the scout of a tribe after all, and her black fur blended easily in with the darkness. Not to good at actually stealing things though, just remaining hidden.
As he flew towards the cave he went over what Veronica had told him. Yes, they just might pull it off...or die. Though, that was unlikely.
"...She must be special, then..."
Though the light was waning, he could still see the entrance of the cave- and its owner coming up. Instead of landing there, he flew at the cliff face just next to the opening. Summanus clung to the rocky wall with his paws, using his wing-talons to help. He did slide down a little, but held fast.
" I knew you couldn't refuse."

Noir didn't even notice Summanus return until she heard him slide down the rock of the cliff face. She moved as close to the cave entrance as possible, sticking her head out to see him. "You know me too well already, Summanus," she responded. "It's almost unnerving. Regardless, I need to be filled in on everything you know, and what you're plan is based on this knowledge."
She remained standing at the mouth of the cave, blocking the entrance so that Summanus would have to remain hanging where he was. "For the sake of planning ahead, I would like to know all of this before we set out, but I guess if it will take a while to reach them, then we can talk while we fly, too."

Summanus laughed darkly at her comment. "Scare you, does it?" He teased."Straight to business, Nameless? ...I like that~" Summanus crooned, having far too much fun flirting with her than he ought to. Well, served her right for being the beautiful thing that she was.
"Aye, I'll tell you all there is to tell on the way." He launched himself off the cliff-face, knowing she would follow. Once he had settled on a warm up-draft of wind he began: " There's a small camp of humans east from here, hoarding about half a dozen rubies of a fair size. Now it's obvious they stole 'em from elsewhere, or they'd have better protection- but I don't really give a s**t about that really. So, I don't know if it occured to you, but I'm not the most subtle 'daeva around, and my spawn isn't that much better. So, I'm going to make a very obvious and loud attempt to steal the rubies, and while they're busy trying to chase me off, you're going to come in from behind and get them for real." At this point he became a little tired of hearing his own voice, so hey, why not let the lady ask some questions? He looked over his shoulder at her with a dangerous smile. "Any questions?"

Noir rolled her eyes at Summanus's comment, but didn't bother responding; she was slowly getting used to his little flirtations. She followed him into the air, flying close enough to be able to hear him. She listened attentively, definitely intrigued by what she heard. Small camp, not too much to deal with, certainly. Most of them would follow Summanus, but Noir would bet that at least two or three would stay behind and guard the rubies. All the better for Noir. They'll make it that much easier for Noir to pinpoint the location of their precious gems. Noir vaguely heard something mentioned about spawn, but didn't bother focusing on that.
"A few," Noir responded. "But overall I'm impressed with this plan of yours, Summanus. In my professional opinion, it'll work. But, I would like to know as precisely as possible how many humans there are in this small camp, do they have weapons, and where the rubies are. Are they in a box, or a little sack, have the humans hidden them in a tent or are they just out in the middle of the camp, by the fire?" In most scenarios, Noir could probably get away with it, but it might get a little messier depending on the details.

"Did you expect anyhting less?" Summanus asked, amused. Yes, he knew there was a high likelyhood it would work, but then, there was also a small chance it wouldn't. He then answered each of her questions, eyes still out in front to see where he was going. Summanus banked around a small mountain and started:
"There are around ten humans, give or take one or two. A few of them will have weapons, however these weapons are very small, small enough to fit in the palm of their hands and not capable of doing significant damage to a full-grown 'daeva. But still be careful. The rubies are located within a tent at the south of the camp, I'll point it out to 'ya. Also, there's a very strong chance a few of the buggers will stay behind, so be sure to take care of them. I don't really care how. They will be in a box, but that's as far as I've been able to find out, I don't have X-ray vision, so you may have to do some digging."
They were close. Summanus slowly glided down behind a large mound where the two of them could safely overlook the camp. Without a word, he indicated with one finger the tent that held their target. "Let me know when you're ready." What? He could be patient...when it counted.

If Noir was surprised that Summanus actually had the answers to all her questions, she hid it well. As he spoke, her mind worked, creating a mental map of what she imagined as he described the setting. Ten or so armed humans, some probably sitting around, some walking the perimeter, some perhaps even hidden within the tent. Of those strange human shelters, Noir imagined a couple of them, making a note that the target would be in the southernmost one. The box in this tent would probably be hidden some; it would be rather ridiculous if the humans were stupid enough to leave it lying in the middle of the tent. There would probably be at least two humans inside.
Not saying a word for the rest of the trip, Noir played out the plan in her head as she flew through the air beside Summanus, until his descent brought her back out of her thoughts. The spot they landed on was well chosen; she could see the entirety of the camp with a very slim chance of any humans spotting them from behind the mound.
She spotted the tent he pointed at and studied it and the surrounding area. The tent was open on one side, and a man sat at the entrance. A few feet away was a fire, with two more humans poking at the meat that they had cooking. Noir counted four other humans wandering the perimeter of the campsite, one at each side. If they were better at their job, Noir assumed they should each be marching down their respective lines, but as it was, they were really just standing around lazily and looking around themselves.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven... Noir could only see seven of the ten or so that were supposed to be here. They were probably within one of the three tents that stood -- Noir would have to assume that there were at the very least ten, prepare to deal with more than that, and hope that there were actually less.
Let's see, Noir thought. Chances are high that at least three of the humans guarding the perimeter would chase after Summanus. Noir would bet that the two chefs of the group would follow after him as well. If she had to guess, the man at the entrance to the tent that she needed access to would either remain where he was or enter the tent to watch the box directly. The fourth perimeter guard, if he didn't run off after Summanus as she guessed, would either rush to the tent or run to tell the other, unaccounted for humans that Noir couldn't see. Either way, if Noir was fast enough, she may not even need to deal with them. Otherwise, she could handle just a few people, even if they were armed and slightly dangerous.
Noir finally took her eyes off the camp, turning to Summanus and nodding. "I'm ready," she said.

Summanus nodded in return and slunk off, body low to the ground and flames diminished. He had figured his part of the plan out beforehand. The trick was not being discovered until he was almost at the rubies, then making a commotion. So, for as long as possible he could not be detected.
He stuck to the shadows, keeping out of the flickering light the camp-fire cast though the gaps in the tents. Stealthy as a cat he climbed up into the branches of a tree before one of the patrolling guards wandered past. He waited...waited...then soundlessly pounced onto the ground, creeping ever closer. He could see it now, the tent that held the rubies. In front of said tent stood a small table with a variety of objects placed on it....Summanus recognised one as a sort of container the humans keep boiled leaf-juice in before serving it. Just a little closer...closer...closer.
"Well here goes nothing... He muttered, barely audible even to his own ears.
He jumped, wings giving a hard stroke downwards to provide extra lift. He landed, not so stealthily right on top of that small table, which gave a very loud crash. Objects scattered in every direction, the table itself had been reduced to rubble.
"Oops!" He stated in a comical way, which would have been pure comedy gold if the humans could actually understand him. Summanus gave a loud roar, just in case by some miracle no one had heard his extravagant entrance. Flames leapt to their full glory as he spun to face the tent, coming face to face with it guard. Well, face-to-face wasn't quite the correct term, as the 'daeva towered over the man. He smiled evilly. "Hello there!" He cried as with one massive paw he battered the human out of the way. Said human was sent sprawling. Several gunshots sounded, and his head whipped around to see several angry-yet-frightened faces. Putting his full attention on this group, he padded slowly to the left. Eyes and guns followed his movements. "Oh, I'm sorry, did I interrupt your plesant evening?" Again, talking was pointless, but Summanus was going to gleam as much fun out of it as he could god dammit! With one flame-engulfed paw he poked a nearby tent (not the one with the rubies). It immediately started to smoke and crackle, and while not catching alight, created a fairly large hole. The humans didn't seem to like that too much, and started shouting to one another. So now they were past their initial shock, they were becoming a tad pissed off.
Summanus bounded off into the night, followed by gunshots and angry shouts. "CATCH ME IF YOU CAN 'YA DICKHEADS!" He crowed

Noir waited a few moments before making her own way down to the campsite. Taking a different route than Summanus, she made sure she could always see both him and the humans below while still remaining hidden. He climbed a tree, waiting for the right moment. Noir, meanwhile, hid herself as close to the side of her target tent as possible, using shadows, bushes and trees as her shelter.
Summanus pounced, destroying a table with his weight and causing general chaos. She watched him while she waited for her opportunity to strike. At present he had the attention of five humans, and when he began burning the nearby tent, three more began to pursue him. Finally he began to flee, running through the forest rather than flying off. Smart of him. Had he flown away, the humans would have given up their pursuit too soon.
The tent that contained the rubies, Noir could tell from the scent, did indeed contain another human, one who had to remain behind to guard their treasure. Ah well, she could deal with him. She couldn't tell if there were others left behind, but if she was fast enough, they probably wouldn't matter. Very quickly, she darted to the front of the tent and entered, running at the remaining human and tackling him before he even knew what hit him. His weapon, she could see, flew out of his hand as he fell. A quick blow to the head with her front paw knocked him out. Her eyes searched the tent for a box; there were a number of them, but the first few she checked didn't contain rubies.
Finally, she found it. They were hidden in a small wooden chest with leather handles on each side. The lid, normally easily removable, was tied down with another leather strap that she easily cut in order to determine the contents of the box. And there they were: around six beautifully shining rubies of a fair size just waiting for her to take them away.
Noir determined that successfully flying or running away with this box, while not losing any of the gems, would be difficult, so without losing any time she cut a large square from the side of the tent with her claws and dumped the rubies into the middle of it. She could then carry sack off in her mouth while she flew away.
As she did this, Noir heard humans yelling out. Some of them had probably returned, giving up on their pursuit of Summanus. And they were probably waiting for a response from their unconscious companion. Noir hastily grabbed up the make-shift sack and, making sure the rubies were securely inside, hopped out of the square hole she had made and flew off. Behind her she heard shouts and more gunshots, but she was already too far away by the time the noticed her. She flew in the direction she noticed that Summanus had run, wondering where he was. She was half-tempted to leave without finding him, and simply return to her cave, but deemed that idea pointless, since he already knew where she lived.

Summanus' giant paws pounded the dirt as he sped onwards. Muscles warm with the exercise. About half the humans had broken off the persuit, nothing his partner-in-crime couldn't handle, but...s**t! Was that damn vixen finished yet? How would he be able to tell? Argh! So now he was stuck. If he wanted he could just fly away, but oh no, he had to keep them interested and stop them from heading back to camp. ******** of the corner of his eye he caught two more starting to break off. "Oh no you ******** don't..." He muttered to himself as he arched around to cut them off. The flames at his paws flared up with enthusiasm as they lit up the grass, creating a barrier between them and their way back. His heart stopped for several beats as he narrowly avoided getting shot in the face. Close. Far too close.
Godsdammit, why didn't he just bail already? He would have in the past. Hell, even a week ago.
...
s**t! No, no, no! No. No way. Not ever. No. Just...No.
While his mind was certainly able to remove that train of thought, it left him less aware of reality. Including the dangers he was facing. He had come far closer to the group than he intended. Bloody hell, he needed to snap back into the here and now. Immediately. Turning back would leave him exposed. s**t, he had to go for it. Go for it or risk getting hurt...or worse. He lunged, teeth closing around the throat of the nearest human. The thing let out a gurgled scream as the taste of copper filled the 'daeva's mouth.
Then came the cracking of thunder.
Then the searing pain.
...
No, he had to get out. Now. Right ******** now. His mind screamed at him to run. His body moved of its own accord. He wasn't there though. He was gone. Gone, left to reel over the shock of it all. No thoughts, just...shock. He wasn't aware that he had taken to the air until he hit the ground. Dirt mixing with fur and blood as the result of his messy landing.
Blood...?
He sneezed, and attempted to wipe the grime from his eyes. Electricity shot from his front leg. Front right leg. No vitals around there...right? Heart beating. Lungs heaving. He was alive. He was alive. He tried to stand, failed. His injury protested vehemently. Ok...so he couldn't stand on it. No worries...he could get around just fine on three legs. Ok, once more. He slowly stood, limbs shaking, but stable. Summanus began to walk...a slow, irregular pace.
Now to find that girl and make sure she didn't take off with the prize.
