Good to cry? He did not really know about that, and he might have give her a puzzled look. "I was taught that ghouls should not have a reason to cry? But I suppose if you want to I can not stop you?" He really sounded very uncertain, but this was simply reminding him that he had no idea of how to deal with ghouls. "But if you desire to start anew...greetings, my name is Yǐn Cáng."

Da Li managed to break free of the other puppy in their game, and turned to run back to Yin. In reality she turned quickly and started to run without getting her bearings, and ran smack dab into Miss Anna's leg.

Yin really did not understand all of what she was saying. Crying because you needed to? He had not cried much, nor did he think one was supposed to, but he was trying to understand. Really. "There is no need to apologize," he hastily assured her, watching as Da Li began circling the ghoul's ankles excitedly.

"Can you not tell your familiar that you are keeping it? Surely your familiar would not wish for you to be unhappy..." And the ghoul really did look upset at the idea of getting rid of her puppy. He tried to smile at her reassuringly, not really sure how successful he was with his sharp teeth flashing at her.

Yin really did not find anything to be ashamed about at the idea of the cycorgi being eaten. On a normal day, under normal circumstances? Da Li might very well have been dinner. "Well, I can see how he might be tasty, but can your familiar not understand?"

He really was not sure how much familiars could understand, he had never really met one before. But his book about the history of Halloween had hinted that they were intelligent, so why could she not just tell him why she wanted him? "Do you not control your familiar Miss Anna? Or do familiars control their reapers?" Now he was more curious than anything, not that that would actually help the distraught ghoul.

Oh well if it was an agreement there was nothing that could really be done. "Oh," he said rather uselessly.

"Well at least you will be powerful? Until then if you need help with your cycorgi my offer will stand. I would not offer my assistance if I did not mean to help?" He tried a smile, hoping that maybe the ghoul would not feel quite so miserable with the offer.

Then another thought occurred to him. He was, if not king, at least prince of misunderstandings on far too many days. "But perhaps you should ask...Shibey? about the terms of your contract? Maybe there is just a misunderstanding." Really, he was almost proud of himself for even considering that someone might be misunderstanding something.

"Yes I shall keep Da Li. I do not think that Princess Eva particularly enjoys her company, but she gets along with Lady Terror well enough. And she cannot jump on the bed so Princess Eva can always get away. But...just the three pets." Oh how quickly he had rattled off a number so high! And really, three seemed like a lot to the mantodae, who had never owned a single pet before arriving at Amityville. Now he had three delicious smelling temptresses.

"You would like Princess Eva," he said suddenly.

Did he know anything about this ghoul really? No. But he said it with such conviction it was obvious that he believed it. For one simple reason.

It was Princess Eva.

"She is wonderfully well behaved, and very smart. She knows exactly when she is needed and she can be a little demanding at times but she is never mean or rude. She is the best pet in all of Halloween, and possibly the best creature period." If Miss Anna did not stop him or cut him off, he would quite contentedly ramble about the rabo for a good five or even ten minutes. Perhaps even longer.

The best way to make Yin forget that there could possibly be anything wrong was to ask him about his darling. "She is a rabo, or so Miss Danny tells me. And as she was the one who gave me Princess Eva I am sure that she could tell you more about them. She is somewhat like a fox, but with three tails. And she is incredibly smart." Had he mentioned that already? He really did not care if he had, he could not say it enough.

"Lady Terror on the other hand is a vaisel, a...balerion? She was originally Alexander's but when she grew she gained the ability to burn things, so she came to live with me. She is still rather young, but she is Princess Eva's bodyguard." Because yes, he would get a pet solely for that purpose. Nurse Cricket had suggested it.

Yin was a bit embarrassed by the compliment. "Surely I am the lucky one." As for pets when he was younger? "Boils do not have pets where I come from," he admitted, not really sure how else to say it. "But pets are not common. Animals are meant to be eaten, though if a creature without edible flesh comes along some of those were kept by ghouls as pets."

Realizing what he said his eyes widened a bit. "Oh but I would never eat my pets." He could not add that he would never think about eating them though, because to be honest they smelled rather delicious.

Unattended puppies would never cause mischief, surely.

And who would have put plants there if they were not meant to be dug up?
