“Did you know that water is the only substance that is less dense in solid form than in liquid form?”
The wind died, and the lepus’ words finally were able to reach the slimer’s ears. The slimer turned to it, gave a lifted brow, and turned to face forward as he walked towards a small icy hill. The hill probably managed to form as ice and snow began to pack against each other, growing larger and larger as the days had gone by.
As he got deeper through the road, he found more of them, and fortunately, found a flag close to one where a small ice hill had buried it.

By this time, the lepus had slipped back into the magical backpack, perhaps for a break. But the slimer didn’t even notice. The wind and his thoughts were only his companions at this point of the course. The cold still hadn’t bothered him. The ice and snow that had pelted him just made him wince.
He had gone pretty far through the course that everything just seemed to be blurring together. It did stop him for a second, making him look back to see if he was just going in circles. He cared, just for that second, and then turned to face forward again.
Why? Why? Why?
That question was in a loop.

The wind picked up. It was flurry of ice shards; each razor sharp, cutting through his tough rubber slime hide, while some of the smaller pieces were sharp enough to go through it. It did hurt, and also felt odd as the ice embedded them into his skin, and slowly melt from the slight heat he was producing from all his movement.
His arms were now raised to his face, making sure that ice wouldn’t cut through his ice, but continued to trudge on in pain.
At least, for this moment, he wasn’t thinking about her.

A flag.
Even through the flurry of ice and snow, the red flag stood out from the road. It was the last one he needed. He changed his direction, and walked towards it, the wind blow at his left. His legs felt a little wobbly. He finally noticed how taxing it was as he walked sideways. It was a little awkward, and as soon as he raised a foot, and left one foot on the ground, the wind blew him over.
He tumbled, and stumbled around, unable to get a grip. He stopped.
Ouch.
There was a pain through his chest. His body, sprawled and flat on the ground. His mind circled around Circe as his hands fumbled towards the source of the pain. There he found something; cold and wet. Raising his head he found an icicle had gone through him.
He laughed. He choked, then continued on laughing.
It was over. He knew he was going to be taken to the infirmary soon. The injury would prove fatal to most, but with water as an element of his, this was nothing.
He continued to laugh.
He found, that throughout the course, there was not one moment where he felt alive, until now, where he was near death.

As her teammates made their way to their various courses Zurine waved to them all in turn and gave them each a cheerful 'Good luck!', thye would likely need it given how the last trail had turned out - a nice day on the beach ruined by the arrival of that disguising kracken.
And this trail was already turning out to be worse, the wind and rain was horrible and certainly put a damper on anything outdoors..and so despite the inky blackness of the underground caves they did offer a bit of shelter from the weather and so after a bit of hmm and hawing Zurine decided to go with the underground course and trotted off in that direction.

THE CAVE OF DARKNESS
The mouth of the cave swallowed all the light from outside and was more then a little bit foreboding..but Zurine had made her choice and shouldering the backpack that had been given her with the lepus guide she started forward. Just before she let the darkness swallow her the lepus decided to pop out with a little bit of advice "Did you know that you won't be able to see in there?"
Rolling her eyes slightly as she stumbled a bit in the dark Zurine responded rather sarcastically "No really?..I hadn't noticed" Before the lepus could respond again however her hand brushed against a bit of fabric..was it a flag? It was to dark to tell but she grabbed it anyways.
"DId you know you found a flag?" The Lepus stated in a voice that echoed through the tunnel.
"Well huzzah you are useful" Zurine told the little green beast as she stuffed the flag into the backpack and continued forward.

THE CAVE OF DARKNESS
As she continued into the black Zurine felt sure that the walls were starting to close in around her - certainly the tunnel was getting a bit smaller and it was a good thing that she wasn't claustrophobic. Of course that didn't help her when she came to a fork in the pathway and turning her head to peer in either direction didn't do anything to help her choose a path..shrugging slightly she turned and head to the right, it was a 50/50 chance really.

At first it seemed like she might have made a good decision - at least nothing had jumped out to grab her yet and she hadn't fallen over any cliffs. Of course that was when the growling started.
"Did you know that the growling is probably from a horrible monster?" Stated the Lepus and Zurine turned about and hurried back towards the fork in the road. "Good point" She told the Lepus "Best to go the other way I think"
Returning to the fork she headed down the left path this time and hadn't gone very far before she felt a familiar piece of fabric, Huzzah! Another flag! Stuffing it in her backpack along with the first she kept going.

THE CAVE OF DARKNESS
Was that her imagination or was there a breeze coming from the area ahead of her? In any case it certainly felt like the tunnel was opening up a bit and as she continued forward she could make out a small opening in the gloom ahead , it looked like she might be able to make it through if she lay on her stomach...though feeling around the edge of the hole she grimaced..it certainly wasn't going to be a pleasant experience, that mud was going to get all over her fur and clothing..still it looked like she didn't have much of a choice. It was either go through the hole or turn around and face the monster she'd heard earlier.
Her mind made up she pushed the backpack with the Lepus and her flags in it ahead of her and squirmed through the hole. When she was almost at the end he found another mud stained flag and stopped to shove it into the backpack as well before continuing on.

THE CAVE OF DARKNESS
Pulling herself the last few feet through the tunnel she climbed to her feet, the mud and grime from the small space clinging to her in a fashion that was sure to make her cringe once she was out in the light and could actually see the damage.
Her thoughts were distracted however as she heard the sound of ponies somewhere up ahead, confused and just a little bit concerned she ran forward through the dark..which gradually became lighter until she burst out into the open and found the fourth flag. Stuffing it into her bag she cheered for having made it through..but where had those blasted ponies gone?

Circe had returned the next day from the infirmary. Thankfully she had only had a minor head injury and it was able to be healed rather quickly. She sighed as she looked down at her Lepus Guide. Had it not been for it's distraction maybe she would have noticed the impending rock. "This thing is going to kill me." She said offhandedly as she looked at her team mates. "Good luck." Circe said to each one, smiling once more to each of them. "I'll you you guys at the end of the day!" Circe said as she took her a stick out of her hair once more to help her decide which course she would take. Seeing as how there was no wind she quickly placed it on the ground a spun it. When it stopped it tilted towards the jungle course. "Guess this is me." Circe said, picking up the stick and putting it back in her hair.
Smiling the ghoul walked off down the path to the jungle. She hoped the outcome of today's course would be better then the last. But after yesterday, her hopes were dimming.

Then again it was her who started the whole flirting thing. "Why is this so confusing?" She groaned, looking down at the small Lepus Guide. "Did you know thinking out loud is a sign that you are going crazy?" The Lepus Guide replied. O A O Why was this small green creature out to get her? What had she done to it? Maybe it had wanted to be paired with someone else and since it didn't get what it wanted it was intent on making her War Trial experience horrible. Oh woe was truly her. There were so many things to worry about yet her mind always drifted back to the beach. Maybe she could talk to Zurine or Holly about this? No. What if they started to hate her because of this? Q A Q All the ghoul wanted was some friends. And some fun. But why did it always have to come to this?
Circe closed her eyes and screamed at the top of her lungs. When she had finished she opened her eyes back up and took in a deep breath, then let it out. That made her feel much better. And then she realized that there was a sign in the middle of the jungle. The sign telling her how to get back on the path! Things were finally beginning to look up. Or so she thought as she ran towards it.
When she reached the spot that she saw the sign she noticed that something seemed a bit weird with the plant life. "Did you know, you're going to die here? Her Lepus Guide only confirmed her fears as she realized that she had stepped into poisonous plants. After a few moments she started to feel light headed and fainted. Once more the Lepus Guide alerted the boogeymen that his horrible charge had gotten herself into trouble again. "Did you know I told her so?" It had taken forever for Zurine to wash the muck and grime from her fur the day before, and as they gathered the next morning for another try at the course she was not looking forward to it at all - although the rain had stopped it was now so foggy that one could hardly see ten feet in front of them and humid to boot.
All in all it did not bode well for a good day - was it really so hard to ask for a nice decent warm and sunny day to attempt these courses? They were hard enough without having to deal with the weather.
"Good luck Everyone!" She tried to cheer on her teammates before heading for her own course.

The Cave of FIAH
A fire course..are you serious? This was not going to be fun at all and Zurine scowled at the gnomes as they had her remove her shoes . The road they pointed her towards was long - althoug hshe couldn't see exactly how long due to the fog and glowing slightly from the heat of the coals. Seriously..walking across hot coals? What would that prove other then fur was flammable? And she had thought the cave with its mud and grime was bad - at this point she would have happily traded the coal road for another muddy tunnel any day.
Not that she was given that opportunity and so shouldering her backpack she started off towards the course. "Did you know that those coals are buring well above the tempurature needed to burn you?" The Lepus decided to add helpfully as she was about to step onto the course causing Zurine to turn her head and gape at him in dismay..did the little green beast really think that was going to help anyone?!?
Unfortunately - being naturally somewhat clumsy - the distraction of the Lepus was enough to keep Zurine from watching where she put her feet and the coals being somewhat uneven to begin with did not offer any help, she'd barely gone a step onto the course when everything went awry and Zurine crashed down onto her face in the flaming hot coals. "Did you know that you should probably call for a medic?" The Lepus stated a few moments before she passed out.

OPEN RACE COURSE
The ghost seemed to be in high spirits as he came into view with a smile across his face- and bandages around his body from where the large ice spike had gone through him.
The weather wasn’t bothering the slimer much, since he enjoyed the humidity. It was keeping his slimey-self fresh and warm, hydrated for the upcoming event. Though, this time around, he was going to keep his pin on because his natural form wasn’t going to be much use as he walked towards some stables- it was mandatory to have it on anyway.
It was a little lonely in his last trip, and the Lepus was more of a hindrance, than a help this time. He was going to have a companion for this upcoming challenge. Unfortunately, he had taken too long to choose a challenge, and found there was only one mount left; a goat.
The slimer rode on his mount bareback, and let the animal take him…
Unfortunately, the goat was the last on the course for a reason. As soon as it left the stables, it ran for the edge of the course, tripping over a boulder, and sending them off course…
