As he ran at the stallion he was actually convinced for a second that he was going to hit him and he was taken off his guard for a brief instant. In that instant the fluffy stallion dodged him.
Without much thought Douglas threw all his energy into coming to a halt, he was glad to have his cerynei traits as he was able to halt quickly and efficiently using his cloven hooves. As he skidded forward he let his back legs swing around so that he was facing the Stallion again, kicking up rocks as he went, some splashing into the nearby stream.
He expected a counter attack but was not quick enough to fully evade it. The fluffy ones horns caught his backside through his halting turn, actually helping his turn along. The hit was hard but didn't have as great of effect because of it went with the direction he was already moving.
His move had now put him in advantageous position facing the other stallions flank. He moved in towards the stallion shaking his head side to side, slashing at the stallions as he moved towards his target with his ax.

Ironforge mentally glowered when the bloody stallion skid to a sideways halt, although he had managed to him him the strike had clearly only had a small impact if any thanks to the momentum of the bloody stallions body. Ah well - there was little time to dwell on this fact as Douglas was already coming for him again, this time wielding that wicked looking weapon as he went, something that Ironforge simply couldn't continue to let happn, one of these times the stallion knew his opponant could manage a lucky swing and he'd find himself skewered..however he wasn't willing to be forced into a constant retreat either.
Rearing upwards Ironfogre let his shaggy chest take the first strike of the axe and a shower of fluffly fur was cleaved from his body, It might make him look funny for a while but the shaggy fur was a price Ironforge was willing to pay when he thought about what that axe would have done to a less protected part of his body. As the axe complaeted it's sweep outwards taking off the hair and leaving his foes head and neck exposed in a sideways fashion Ironforge took the split second chance to dig in his hind legs and lunge his body forward bringing himself inside the reach of the axe, lashing out with his forefeet towards the others stallions neck in the hopes that his weight and forward momentum would have some sort of an impact on the other stallion, if he was lucky and the other beast did not manage to pull off a dodge then perhaps it would even drive him to the ground..or make him drop the axe. Both results Ironforge would find more then acceptable.

If Douglas' attack had only been a little more on target, the stallion would be dead by now. The near miss rankled at Samsara even though she knew there was still plenty of time to kill the stranger. She wanted the best and most dangerous for the Mahapadma. If Douglas could kill the stranger quickly she'd be delighted... but it didn't look like that was going to happen.
"Take the time to aim!" she shouted at Douglas. "You're not trying to shave him... you're trying to kill him!" She hoped that would serve as a reminder for him to keep his mind together. He was one of the less stable members and she sometimes wondered about his mental capacity for some challenges.
"Yeah, kill him!" echoed Svanbjorn. This was starting to get fun. He was now discovering that it could be just as exciting to watch a fight to the death as be part of one. Now he got all the thrills without the danger. He could get used to spectating on bloodbaths.

Douglas was confused at first when all the hair seemed to be flying about him, he didn't feel resistance or see any blood. It seemed as though he should have struck the stallions chest. On top of this he heard voices from his group yelling at him. It seemed like cheers and instruction. This seemed to distract him further. He wasn't use to having an audience for a fight, at least not one like this.
He continued to swish with his ax hoping to find the actual chest of this stallion, and the fur continued to fly, so much of it that it seemed to be getting all over his face distracting him even further. He swished his head back in towards the Stallion and suddenly found his face slamming into the stallions legs. It had opened his recent wound from Samsara and blood came spilling from his face. At that he dropped his ax to the ground. But it was not enough to stop or slow him down.
Instead he was furious now, specially with Samsara watching. He did not want to be seen as weak. Her words echoed in his mind. "take time to aim" He also remember the move that actually had worked on the skinwalker and used it again. He took a second to aim and spat the blood from his mouth right towards the Stallions eyes while simultaneously rearing up on his hind legs to come down on the Stallions shoulder.

Vaguely Ironforge registered the shouting from the rest of Douglas' group - but he could hardly take the time to either figure out what they were yelling or to check and make sure the yelling did not spell the arrival of reinforcements. He was far to focused on the challenge at hand and felt a fierce sense of satisfaction when his strike not only caused a spray of fresh blood from the other beast but also caused him to drop the ax.
His glory was short lived however as Douglas recovered quickly from his strike and spat blood towards his eye, recoiling from the red spray Ironforge shook his head slightly to clear his vision even as his blurred sight registed the stallions simultaneous attack. Without being able to see and thereby judge the other stallions strike Ironforge was at a serious disadvantage and he knew it. He wasted no time to jumping sideways and away from the strike - unfortunately it wasn't quite fast enough, he had registered and reacted to the strike to slowly thanks to the blood blurring his vision and Douglas raked a couple of bloody furrows down his shoulder as his hooves hit. Certainly it was better then the possibly broken shoulder a full fledged hit would have incurred however.
There was no time to revel in this fact however, not if he wanted to take advantage of the stallions attack for a counter attack of his own, rapid blinks had cleared his vision enough to see the stallion before him and before Douglas could press his own attack Ironforge lunged forward, jaws wide and seeking the throat of the other stallion as he finished coming down from his rear. The attack was likely more suited to that of a predatory creature but predatory creatures struck in that fashion for a reason - because they were effective and if he could manage to get a hold of the other stallion perhaps, just perhaps he could end this fight before he took further damage, of course there was a good chance Douglas would escape his hold but such was the way of battle and one couldn't act solely on the odds of success if they wanted to win.

Spitting blood was a tactic that Douglas had once used upon her. Samsara hadn't been able to evade it either. It was an entirely unique and usually unexpected attack. She doubted it would work well on the same enemy twice, but it was very effective during its first use. Douglas managed to tear some slashes in the stallion for that, but not nearly enough to incapacitate him. In fact...
Samsara's eyes widened with intrigue as the stallion lunged for Douglas' throat. She wouldn't have thought him capable of such savagery. This fight was more interesting than she previously thought.
Svanbjorn found himself lashing his tail behind him and snapping his teeth at empty air. He was so excited that apparently his body was going to pretend like he was fighting something. He forced himself to still, not wanting to seem like he was catching Bushkin's madness. She was fixated on the fight as well, looking even more agitated than he had been before he stopped himself. Everyone was watching the fight... everyone.
He quickly turned and checked on the mare. He hadn't realized just how involved everyone was. Even Samsara's attention was off their captive. Fortunately she was still there, but she could sneak off in the distraction if someone didn't take responsibility. It looked like that someone would be him, so Svanbjorn resigned himself to watching the mare instead of the battle.
"Let me hurt him!" Bushkin urged Samsara. She was getting impatient at Douglas. She wanted to see more blood, and she would be the one drawing it if he didn't hurry up and finish it.

Douglas was glad to return blood for blood, but he was hoping for more damage. He could feel everyone watching him, and it seemed to have a heavy affect on him. As he came down from his attack he found himself muttering, "Hurry, aim, see."
He was distracted enough that he hadn't expected the counter attack from the other stallion. He noticed when the stallions teeth had almost hit throat. He managed to move his neck enough that the Stallion's teeth caught the top of his neck where his ears were button on. He felt the pain of the dull teeth on his neck, but before they could break the flesh he whipped his head away, leaving the stallion with bunny ears dangling from his mouth.
Douglas swung his head back around and snapped at the fluffy stallions face, while at the same time giving a swift kick to the stallions front knee, of the already damaged limb. He hoped that the Stallion was distracted enough that he would not evade the blow.

AS he had predicted Douglas seemed quick enough with his reactions to avoid taking the full hit Ironforge had hoped for, leaving him with little to show for his effort then the odd decorations that had previously been on his opponent's head. When the other stallion suddenly whipped his head around to snap at his face Ironforge reacted by jerking his own head up and back, avoiding the hit and throwing the strange bunny ears in Douglas' face in the hopes that they would bugger up his vision for a few seconds.
He nearly missed the bloody stallions second strike and that kick had almost connected before he managed to jerk his leg out of the way - just a touch to slow as the other stallions pointed hooves cut a gash along the top of his knee. The warmth of blood flowing down his leg let Ironforge know even before the pain hit that he'd been wounded again. There wasn't time to see how badly however - the leg was still holding weight and for the time being that was the important thing. Hoping that the stallions vision had indeed been impaired by his own bunny ears Ironforge wheeled about and let loose with a powerful kick of his hind legs, hoping to take the other beast full in the chest with all the power he could muster.

Douglas wasn't doing poorly. The stallion was obviously still alive and fighting, but Samsara could see him wearing down and slowing with the hits he took. It wasn't enough to be able to tell who would prevail just yet, however. She glanced between the fighters and her two Mahapadma in reserve. She could call back Douglas and send in another... but she decided to use another tactic. This would be a test of Douglas' abilities. She had seen how he could fight on his own. Now she would test his abilities to fight in a team.
"Bushkin. Join the fight." She knew she wouldn't have to say any more than that.
Samsara was right. Bushkin snapped to attention as soon as she heard her name. The excitement she felt at being called into battle started her heart galloping. She reared back on her hind legs in excitement before bounding forward. Samsara hadn't called back Douglas yet, so she'd have to fight alongside him. It would be a new experience for Bushkin too. She wasn't accustomed to sharing her prey.
As she approached she thought about the axe that Douglas swung too and fro. Even if he wasn't attacking her she could get hit during a wild swing. Trying to avoid the axe, she ran at Ironforge from the opposite side. The loud thundering of her hooves heralded her approach into the fight.
While Bushkin charged ahead, Svanbjorn fixed his eyes upon their captive. She was still there, luckily. His opinion had already been low of her, but it worsened even more. The idiot mare obviously had no self-preservation instinct. If she did, she would have run off by now. There was no way she was going to survive if she didn't escape somehow. Even if she was killed in her escape attempt, it would be better than whatever she would face once they returned.
He circled around her and placed her between him and the fighters. Now he could watch the fight and keep her in his field of vision at the same time. Her window of opportunity was shut. She wouldn't be escaping with him on watch.

Douglas found his vision suddenly darkened. He grumbled and called himself "Stupid". He wasn't exactly sure what it was at first, but he started shaking his head and saw his bunny ears fall to the ground. When he looked up he saw two hind legs coming straight at his chest he quickly jumped to the side, but not quick enough. One of the legs caught his shoulder and he actually stumbled a little from the attack, as his shoulder was torn open and fresh blood came to the surface.
He than heard Samsara call in Bushkin. He started grumbling, "Stupid , no good, kill, aim, have blood," as his thoughts went from his failure to needing revenge. He decided he needed his ax again, and as quickly as he could he decided to go for his ax a laying a couple of feet away. He hoped that Buskin's arrival into the fight would be enough distraction to grab it.

Ironforge was paying far to much attention to the fight to notice when Samsara sent in the second fighter - no it was the sudden sound of thundering hooves which alerted him to the second mares arrival. She was still coming however and in those few seconds he had to pay attention to Douglas and what he was doing. Thankfully his ploy with the rabbit ears had worked rather well and he'd managed to wound the stallion.
Unfortunately the wound seemed to have reminded the other stallion about his ax which Ironforge had been perfectly happy to keep out of the fight. As Douglas went for the ax, Ironforge roared a battle cry to distract the bloody stallion and lunged towards the ax himself...hooves driving towards the shaft in the hopes of shattering it and taking it out of the fight for good. He only had a split second however, one shot before the second fight arrived and he would have to give up on this effort in order to defend himself.

It looked like the tide of battle had turned right as Bushkin was sent out. Douglas lost his axe and it seemed like the stallion might be about to crush the handle to splinters. Bushkin didn't know if Douglas could fight without his axe. Fortunately, she needed no artificial weapons to enhance her dangerousness.
She wouldn't be able to make it before his hooves hit the axe. The weapon's fate was sealed no matter what. Instead of fixating on blocking the stallion's blow to the weapon, she went on the offensive. Right after his hooves came down hers would attack. She wondered if he would be able to avoid her strike. If he was intent on destroying the axe, she doubted it.

Douglas limped as fast as he could towards the axe but it seemed the other stallion was faster than he was. He gritted his teeth and pushed forward, his determination too strong to be distracted by anything. It was his axe and his weapon. He was going to simply watch this stallion destroy it.
As he got close he let out a cry of his own. He rushed towards the stallion and lunged at him with mouth open hoping to find flesh to close in on. He fought back the pain that was shooting from his shoulder, letting his will guide him to his goal.

Ironforge truly wanted to destroy the ax - he really really did, even if he had to take the bloody stallions teeth to do so, a bite was nothing compared to the damage that bladed weapon could do and already his fluffy white coat was stained with more red then he liked to see on any given day. Cursing the luck that had brought him to this path today Ironforge grit his teeth to take the bloody stallions blow in favor of maintaining his attack on the ax, a hint of satisfaction flashing through his eyes as he felt his hooves land on the wooden handle.
There was no time to stop and see how much damage he'd done to it however as Douglas was ravaging his shoulder and the thundering approach of the second mare was far to close for comfort now, he kicked whatever was left of the ax handle away with the hopes it would fall into the stream just in case he hadn't destroyed it as he wretched himself out of Douglas' grasp in order to try and meet Bushkin's charge.
Things were getting desperate now and fresh blood streamed from the white stallion shoulder as he pulled himself away from the other stallion. A bite - it was painful but not crippling, at least not at the moment. if it continued to bleed however there was no telling.

Bushkin chuckled in a somewhat deranged manner. Their enemy had managed to land his blow on Douglas' axe. She wondered if it had been splintered from that. The idea of it was irrationally amusing to her. Her strength and ferocity was something that couldn't be taken away from her. That was the weakness in using a human weapon. It could be damaged, destroyed, or removed. It was an unnatural way of fighting and Douglas would pay the price.
"Are you ready to give up and die yet?" He was wounded and bleeding. He was badly outnumbered too. Even if he could somehow defeat both Douglas and her, Samsara and Svanbjorn still waited. Bushkin had respect for the skinwalker's ferocity even with her small size. Bushkin wouldn't ever have considered a soquili so small to have the potential to be so dangerous until she had met the skinwalker.
Intrigued, Samsara stared at their opponent. She was curious how he would respond to Bushkin's taunt. Would his spirit fail him? Most other soquili at this point would lose hope and lose their life shortly thereafter. If this stallion could stay courageous even as his strength faded then he just might live through this encounter.
