Jove watched Nuru oogle the beetles. And then as he pointed out a pudgy bumblebee, and then two birds. Little moving things, all of them.
Slowly, the pup's head tilted. That was it?
With a frown, he let out a sigh and grabbed the older canine's arm. And then gave it a tug. Not a huge one, but just enough to say "Hey, follow me, okay?" And then he trotted away from the garden, off to where he was originally headed with his book. If Nuru was impressed by those little moving things, Jove would show him something AMAZING.

Nuru perked those floppy ears at Jove again. Looking curious indeed at the tug on his arm and clearly deciding to follow it. Getting up and stumbling after Jove. He had no clue what Jove was trying to tell him though.

Throughout the walk, the only sign Jove gave that he was still interested in keeping Nuru's company was the way one fluffy ear would periodically swivel back to listen. To make sure he was still there. Because the terrain wasn't always easy, Jove would hop creeks and trot up steep, bramble-infested hills to get to where he was going, and he wanted to make sure Nuru kept up!
Finally he slowed down, approaching an old, half-collapsed log. It had once been hollow on the inside, but decay had been working it's way up until it finally gave out. It's top half now lay against the ground overtop a pile of forming dirt.
Jove set his book down, rolled up his sleeves, and turned the log over so Nuru could see all the little moving things underneath. It was a bountiful place for detritivores like earthworms, shiny beetles, and crawling arthropods. They all scurried around in the sudden light, abandoning their activities in search of dark places to hide.

It took Nuru a bit of effort to keep up and he still got poked full of so many bramble thorns. When they finally came to a slow down and ultimately a stop, he looked so Jacking relieved. Finally. He was so out of shape since coming to school he'd idly decided.
Stillll his attention was back on Jove and what the Jack he was up to. When he saw it.. his eyes going HUGE.

He promptly threw himself down on the ground. Head propped up by his hands as he eagerly watched them fleeing to the dark corners of decomposing plant matter... this was until... it moved. A large spider scurried among them. Just as frightened... but Nuru didn't see it that way. He lept to his feet and backwards SO FAST.
"WHATTHEJACKISTHAT?!" He shrieked.

Ah, so it was a good idea to bring him out after all! Jove had some doubts, what with Nuru's stumbling and rustling behind him so loudly, but the results were all worth it. His fluffy tail wagged as he watched the other student's enthusiasm over mere insects. He had plenty of other places they could go, if that was what made Nuru happy, the forest was full of-
Jove leaped backwards in shock as well, but only because of the bigger ghost's shriek. He stared, wide-eyed, in Nuru's direction for a couple seconds before turning back to the log. Oh... It couldn't have been that... Crouching down, Jove gently scooped up the spider in both hands, glanced at Nuru, and lifted it up as though saying "This? Was it this?" before tossing it off into the woods. Problem solved. Right?
