"Mmmn," was his only reply to that. It was the truth though. Seth hadn't been able to get her out of his thoughts these past several months. And even now, that damn woman still wouldn't leave him alone. Her letter had left him with more questions than answers really.
Blue eyes tilted back towards Rory as he offered the candy again. He took another. This stuff with like crack.

"Sometimes, if you're really lucky, they are the best thing that can happen to you." The time he had spent living with the old friend of his family had taught him that. She may have raked him over the coals more than once but she had led him to once of the best things he had happen to him. And, inadvertently, the second.

Seth seemed to deflate a bit at this.
"Or the worst." This said with a bitter edge to his voice.
He had thought she was the best thing that had happened to him. Obviously he had been wrong. Very wrong.

Rory shrugged and offered the candies to him one more time.
"Maybe you'll find someone here that will change that for you." Thoughts of the night he found the beautiful red-head dancing alone drifted into his head. He shook them away; now was not the time for that.

Seth's reply to that was one very big huff. Obviously he didn't find that to be likely at all. He wasn't even sure if he wanted it to happen. If this was how things were to keep happening, he didn't want any part of it.
"I think I'm better off without," he said as he took another one of the candies. Crack indeed.

Rory looked up at him as he finally put the candy back in his pocket.
"Don't let one girl screw you over," he responded. "Think of dating kind of like training. You only get better the more you do it." He hated that analogy when he was a teenager but maybe it would help the other guy out.

Seth arched a brow at that analogy. That was just... kind of strange. It could be taken in a plethora of different ways.
Thing is, Nadja hadn't just been a girl. And they hadn't just been dating. To him at least. To Nadja, he was just another man to throw away when she got tired of him. He had been a fool to let himself get like this. He'd set himself up for it, really. Seth kicked himself for it because he really should have known better. But no.. he'd taken a chance and it blew up in his face, like a slap back to the cold cruel reality. She wasn't to be trusted anymore than anyone else.
"Once was enough."
Why would he subject himself to this over and over again and hope he got lucky? That was stupid. He didn't rely on luck, or people. He could only rely on himself. That's how it had always been.

Rory couldn't help but feel bad for the guy. He wondered what this woman had done to bring him to this point.
"I was told once, along with the crazy theories, that if you close yourself off to humans, you will eventually close yourself off to your pokemon. And if you close yourself off to your pokemon, you're screwed."
The only reason Rory remembered that bit was because his trainer had shoved his head into an ice cold bath before hand. That had been the day he finally started to check back in with the world after the attack on Pinkie.

This gave Seth pause as he stopped to evaluate his life. He had closed himself off from people for a long time. Then once he'd met Nadja he started opening up again. Now it all just seemed pointless.
"If that's true, then I've been screwed for a long time."
He couldn't deny that he wasn't as close to his Pokemon as he had once been. They still obeyed him and still respected him. But was there a relationship? A real connection? Not really, at least, not like it use to be. He had told himself it wasn't necessary.

Rory watched as Pinkie trotted around. Now that both of them had been getting settled into a routine and meeting people she seemed happier.
"Why don't you call them out? Let them play for a bit? Or play with them for a bit?" He was also curious to see what type of pokemon the elite kept on him.

Seth stood there in silence for several moments, looking perhaps a bit uncomfortable, maybe even ashamed. Play with his Pokemon? Why would he need or want to play with them. Whoever had time for such things? He didn't apparently, and he couldn't remember the last time he'd let them all out just to do what Pokemon did. ... Had he really lost touch with them that much? Especially in the past several months, he'd been so busy that he almost neglected them.
The elite finally let out a resigned sigh and withdrew three balls. "What the hell." What would it hurt anyway?
In the next moment, three Pokemon appeared. A Typhlosion, shiny Luxray, and a blue Porygon-Z.

Pinkie heard the sound of other pokemon being released and her head shot up. She seen the three new pokemon and let out a shriek. She ran over and started sniffing them. [Hi!]
Rory only had a moment to admire the Typholsion before he heard the shrill shriek of his own pokemon. He covered his face with his hand when she ran over and started sniffing the new creatures.

The three of them looked around, a bit confused as to why they were out in the middle of the desert. Pele, the Typhlosion, though, focused her attentions on Seth and quickly trundled over to him. He looked... like a mess, and a worried rumble resonated from her chest.
The Luxray, Raion, lifted a paw and leaned away from the sniffing pink Ponyta, looking at her as if she'd grown two heads. "Ray."
The latter was certainly the most friendly. Beta, the Porygon-Z, hovered over Pinkie while spinning its body in a circle, all the while its head remained fixed. "Zeeee!"
Each Pokemon giving their own greeting. Pele was distracted with Seth, Raion unsure of this situation, and Beta being the curious one.

Pinkie sniffed the Luxray one more time before turning her attention to the Porygon-Z hovering around her head. "Ta!" she shrieked and licked the Porygon-Z before attempting to lure it into a chase.
Rory was slightly embarrassed at Pinkie's antics. "I don't know what's gotten into her, sir. She's normally not like this." He was never leaving her with Cosmo ever again.

"Zee?" Beta asked as it was licked, tilting its head curiously. The Porygon was easily lured into the chase, and soon it was hovering after Pinkie, waving its wing-like appendages in the air.
"I seem to have this affect on cute Pokemon," Seth said in a dead pan tone. For it was true, cute Pokemon seemed to often be attached to him some way or another. What was it with Pokemon wanting to annoy you when you least wanted it? Jirachis, Eevees, now pink Ponytas? What was the world coming to?
Pele stood next to Seth like a protective mother bear. Listening to the conversation with hope of getting some sort of hint as to what had happened to her little boy.
Raion, meanwhile, sat himself down and watched Pinkie and Beta run/fly circles around them.
