It took a moment for Ate to register the look the young girl was displaying. Ahh, s**t…she had said too much. For all the added gusto and brazen attitude Ate had she did forget that not everyone saw this responsibility her way and especially not with the anger she felt. If she was meant to be reassuring the scout she was doing a terrible job at it. Just because she felt like this didn’t mean she could crush the hopes and reams of the next generation. And dam, what a load to put on someone’s shoulders! She was not the right person for this at all.
“Hey…don’t be sad. I am a grumpy old sod! I didn’t mean to just like, dump on your whole vision of us. Please, if anything I want you to promise me that every senshi you meet you ask the same question ok? Just until you can determine you own view of us and our mission. I mean dam Updo, you’ve barely shaken the sparkles off and you already asking the big question! But seriously, please, don’t take me serious, am probably on the rag or something like that…”
Ew, gross. But either way Ate had said it as she allowed the girl to change subjects swiftly, her head filling with guilty thought. She hadn’t even abandoned the White Court yet and already she was spreading terrible deeds about them and corrupting the young. Was she already that messed up and evil? The new question though brightened her thoughts as she plastered on a fresh smile. Now this she could answer without upsetting anyone!
“Ahh that’s an easy one! Twenty seven in one patrol! Beat that girly!” She nudged the girl with her shoulder in jest as she held out a hand counting imaginary monsters on her fingers. Her laughter was much more sincere this time around as she thought over that particular exhausting night. “Haha, oh gawd, it was awful! This Youma we were fighting, it wouldn’t stop exploded into miniature versions of itself every time you hit it! There were three of us, each one had about fifteen little ones to deal with while trying to keep the big one occupied. I kid you not, it was rid-id-u-lous! Haha, so much fun though! I adore working with others you see, if you have someone by your side the fights don’t feel half as bad…it just doesn’t happen as much as I would like…how about you? You a lone ranger or a budding team member kid?”

"Twenty seven in a single patrol? Well, looks like I have a lot of catching up to do... I like a challenge!" Tsui wasn't lying when she said that, and even though it seemed like a daunting task, she knew that one day, she'd match it... though it might not have been under the circumstances she would have wanted. She listened intently to her story, the down feeling she had felt moments ago lifting up within seconds of the tale. When Ate changed the subject and asked about her, and she replied with earnest, "I'm part of a team. The Zoo, led by Sailor Draconis... though, I haven't been on contact with her for awhile. Last I heard, she was on a quest to find all of the animal spheres and unite them into one group..." She crossed her legs over each other, a sure sign that she was a little nervous, and she hoped that Draconis and Pipping were alright on their quest. She shrugged, "Funny though, I haven't met the other members of the team yet, but we usually call each other if we need to. Haven't received a phone call yet, so I'm sure they're doing just fine. I'm also Chibi Lenka's padawan. So, until then, I suppose I am a bit of a lone ranger." Then, with a sly grin, she added, "Tigers are solitary hunters, so I guess it's natural that I am too. But, I like the company, especially when it saves me from becoming a youma's lunch later on. Maybe once I'm strong enough, I can go back to the Zoo and be on the same level as them. I wouldn't want to slow the group down."

Ate was pleased her little story had broken the atmosphere. She was such a bad good guy! All she had to do was reassure the poor girl but no, she had to bring her own views and values into the mix. It was no wonder this Sailor world was getting harder to relate too. Here was someone she could take under her wing, train her to become powerful, brave and respected. To help people, save themand to get the mission done…but she wouldn’t, not in this life time. Because even though she wanted that so much she knew she would corrupted her in time. Fill her with negative energies; badger her with unkind and wicked thoughts about the White Court and what little they meant to her and eventually make her as cynical and cruel as she was now. And knowing the road she was heading down she didn’t want that, not for Tsui.
Here words although light were once again filled with a heavy regret. She could feel the need to grab Tsui and tell her of all the things she had seen and the reason why they were fighting a useless battle, a stupid war that would never be won and especially not by this bumbling court. But she held off, smiled through tired eyes as she listened to the girl talk of her team.
“The Zoo? Had, that is pretty cool. Never met any of them but they sound like a fun team! Imagine if I did that, a team of really gross things? Pollution, slime….farts? Uhhh we would wipe the Negaverse right out! Haha, so horrible! I suddenly have the need to shower!”
Shivering slightly she adopted the look of mock disgust as she pattered herself down as if trying to remove the words she had spoken. She could never forget just how gross her sphere was but it didn’t stop it catching her off guard. She would never forgive the fates for that one.
“Hey, your amazing, don’t bring yourself down. Any team that has you on their books should be dam grateful! You only a noob and yet you gave that beastie a run for its money. I would be happy to have you as my partner in crime….although I will have to copy your updo and that might make things a little creepy.”

Tsui immediately brought her hands up to her hair, as though to try and shield her spiky hairdo from being stolen, and despite her objections, there was nothing but pure mirth in her words. "Sorry, but there can be only one Updo around here, and you have already decided that it was me! Or else, I'll send the lawsuit ninjas after you, and trust me, you won't want to mess with them!" Without warning, Tsui snapped her fingers and summoned her senshi cellphone, this time catching it with perfect precision and not blundering the trick like she had done once before. She flipped it open and gave Ate a head's up before snapping the picture, hoping that she'd get her good side (Tsui never was good with catching people's good side when it came to taking pictures, but maybe Ate was blessed with being photogenic?). "Smile!" A click was heard, letting Tsui and Ate know that the deed was done, and Tsui gave it a glance over before flipping it back shut and summoning it back to whatever dimension the cellphones went when they were powered up. She tried not to think too much about it; it could very well be hidden in her hair, for all she knew, and such matters were trivial to her, so long as it popped up again when she needed it. "Well, Ate, I would be honored to be your partner in crime, should you ever need a hand or a few hair tips, I'm the one to call." Tsui hopped off of the trash can, not making her departure just yet but getting a feeling that she might have to be heading home soon. Maddy would be getting back from her double shift soon, and she did not want to walk in on a very worried, very angry sibling, not when said sibling could ground her for a week. "Thanks for the help today, and thanks for the..." She considered what word she should use, eventually going with what sounded more flattering. "Enlightening discussion. I'll sleep on it for sure..."

Ate was barely posing for the shot when the flash caught her eyes, a half decent smile pulling onto her face as she looked over to the phone. Hardly her usual toothy in-your-face grin that she gave, spoiling all and every picture she was featured in, but rather a subdued version of herself. Ate wasn’t one for being depressed but dam she was giving it a bloody good go.
“Ha, I think you need to drink on it rather than sleep! But I forget you have yet to appreciate the joys of whisky! Anyway this is probably way past your bed time missy!” Her sarcastic nature, while always aimed for fun, could still be cutting if people didn’t read the signs right and she gave another half hug – half squeeze to show she was just joking.
“You can be my partner in crime any day Updo, hope to see you around…” And with that it took only a few seconds for Sailor Ate to turn tail and run.
