"Fine go ahead, just leave!" she yelled as he left still shaking. She didn't need him, she could do everything on her own... She may have had a family, but none of them ever really understood her or tried to. She was the misfit of her family unlike any of them, she couldn't understand why she had been born in that family in the first place. As she thought that she could feel water welling up behind her eyes, she began blinking frequently trying to hold back the tears, she was always going to be alone whether she had a family or not.
"I don't need you," she whispered to herself.
Katsumi suddenly realizing one of her daughters had joined them outside, her attention snapped from the direction Roy left to the little kit Katsumi's anger suddenly changed to guilt. What was she supposed to do now? Katsumi had to resist her own urge to flee, but she couldn't leave the kits, but what would they think of her? Katsumi did the only thing she could.
"It's ok,' she said trying to offer the kit a calm even voice. She gently bought the kit close hoping she hadn't heard the conversation, regretting it suddenly once she looked at her youngest daughter. "He'll be back." she promised, trying to hide the uncertainty in her own voice, would he really come back? She didn't know, she really didn't not right now. She felt as though she may have pushed to far this time in her anger, her ears drooped slightly as she hugged the little kit tighter.
"Let's go back inside Chizoku and I'll teach you and your siblings new game." Katsumi told the placing Chiz on her back with a painful attempt at her usual grin. Katsumi's eyes still watered as she faced the door, she didn't want the little kit to see her so upset.

Chizoku nuzzled her mother affectionately and was willingly placed on Katsumi's back. All three tails uncurled and her eyes opened once again as he cling onto her mother's robe. She wasn't sure what to think of what she had seen of the conversation. It was frightening to say the least and she couldn't understand a lot of the terms being tossed around.
"But mummy, what about Daa? He would want to play a new game too... Da loves games."
The young Kitsu lifted her head and looked in the direction Roy had fled. It was getting dark and colder. She jerked her whole body in that direction.
"Mum, Da will be all alone and sad that he didn't get to play a new game too." She whined. Her mind trying to pick on things she -did- understand from the heated conversation and previous conversations she had learned some of the terms. In the end she was only able to come up with a mosh of an argument. "Da says families shouldn't be alone...a-and we are a family... and he'll really want to play the game..."

Katsumi smiled as best as she could affectionately at chiz giving her a return nuzzle. "I'm sorry," she whispered to the kit, she hadn't meant to scare her. She really hadn't and the apology was sincere, one of the most sincere apologies she'd ever given to anyone.
Every innocent comment the kit made tore another chunk from her, the way only family could her guilt deepened, how could she explain it to the other kits? Of course he would tell them things like that, it was just like him. Katsumi knew he was softer than he appeared to be at first, yet knowingly still pushed to hard a button she shouldn't have.
What could she say?
"We can always show him when he gets back," she offered the little kitsu as best she could "He won't be too long 'm sure." She had to hold herself up for her kits, she couldn't let them see anymore of the weaker side of her. "So I can show you now and you can play with him latter and he can still play the game." She smiled shifting the little kit on her back. Kat looked at the lantern and muttered the light spell.
"There." she said to the kit "This way he can find his way back." not that he would ever want to come back. But, she couldn't let the kit know. She wiped off the small tears forming in her eyes when she faced away from Chizoku tears seemed to fall to the ground.

"Ohhh..." Chizoku gasped at her mother's wisdom. That made perfect sense. Da loved it when they taught him games too. "You're so smart muma."
Her eyes widened at the bright ball of light as it appeared than hovered in place. She watched it a moment than side glanced to the boon above and look at it with as much awe as the ball of light her mother had produced from magic.
After a moment she blinked, hummed than affectionately nuzzled the back of her mother's head. "You are the best muma... Da says so too- hmn?"
The sudden turning away from her mother earned a head tilt and a gentle paw on the back of the head. "Did the light get in your eyes?"

Katsumi heard what her daughter spoke, but chose not reply. That last part she hardly believed to be true, no she couldn't see him saying something like that but her daughters nuzzle made her feel lighter. Katsumi gave her daughter a nod "Yeah, sorry Chiz, a bit of the light got into my eye." she said closing them for a moment and wiping away any of the water that would have been there all before nuzzling her little daughter affectionately.
"So what do you say about that game then?" she smiled heading into the house. "just wait till you and your siblings get to learn magic, won't that be fun?" she made herself sound more cheerful than she felt, for the benefit of the kits. "I'll have so much more to teach you then..."
Katsumi tickled the little kit with the tip of her tail. As she closed the door behind her.
