Her ears fell back at his words, and she turned her face away in embarrassment for asking. Large, soft paws, still a bit too large for her lanky frame, kneed at the dirt beside the water, claws flicking out to carve shallow furrows.

"Oh... I see..." She trailed off, her eyes fixed on the waterline as it rippled and moved. "I guess I probably won't see you again, then. After all, the world's a big place, and the paths of two wanders could easily stay seperate forever. I... hope your traveling goes well, for what its worth."

Her paws shuffled in the dirt, and she felt a strange need to drop her protective shell. He invited confidences, or maybe it was just her need for companionship. Either way, some of the prickliness left her, her whole aura softening. "I'm sorry I attacked you yesterday. I was upset, and I'm not used to being friendly to strangers. Or anyone but my brother, for that matter."

Tanaka sat back on his haunches, silent in thought for a moment. Where should he go from here and what was the path he should take? He liked this lioness, and though he was not ready admit it outloud, a part of him wanted to stay with her, to wander at her side on a great journey. But did she feel the same? Would he be impossing if he tried?

He sighed quietly, it wasn't like him to wonder like this, to question. He had always known the path to take, why did he struggle now? Finally he turned to face her, a slight smile across his maw.

"It's alright I probably would have done the same had it been me."

A lone green eye focused on her, watching the sunlight reflected on red, a conclusion forming in his mind. He had always gone where his heart led him, and now more than ever it was showing him the way, pratically screaming at him that the path was right there in that shimmering red coat. Even if she didn't feel the same, he had to try, to not do so would be a violation of all that he had ever believed it.

He stood, and looking to the horizon to find his directions, turned toward the northeast the way to the mistweavers. He turned back to look at her, a barely perceivable flick of his head gesturing the direction.

"The wanders' paths are not always seperate; they often cross and join when it is meant to be."

His smile broadened a bit, and for a moment looked almost playful, like he wanted to touch her, a reassuring nunge of his head; but the motion never came and he just stood with that charming smile.

"Come on then, we should get moving before the sun gets too high."

"We...? You want to come with me?" Soft, round ears perked, and beautific smile graced her youthful face. She wouldn't have to travel alone... Just the thought was enough to have her bouncing to her paws, tail lashing with excitement. "Well, lets get going then! No one every got anywhere by sitting still!"

Laughter rose like bright, irridescent bubbles to pop in the lightening air, filling it with a joyful sound. The red adolescent bounced and gambled for a step then batted him playfully in the shoulder. Spinning on her back paws, she turning and took off to the left of the rising sun in an easy gallop, paws rasing little puffs of dust behind her.

Look out world, she thought. I'm on my way.

Great jaws split to release a rumbling laugh, shaking his chest as it reverberated through and around him. This was the right path, he knew that for certain now and a wave of joy and relief swept over him.

The moment Kiuma moved forward, so did he, his legs stretching to their full extent, great paws striking the ground with a thud to stir the earth beneath. When he reached shoulder level, he nudged her with his head, a playful to return hers.

He grinned and for a moment his pace seemed faster than even a run as he sped across the savanah. His powerful legs coiled and he sprang into the air in a soaring leap, for a moment feeling that he could fly again. His paws hit the ground as he landed; his stride unbroken he ran side by side with Kiuma.

No one knew what the future would bring, but that was unimportant. For now he knew his path, and that was all that mattered.
