"That's a good point..." Taryn mused, turning her head to eye the frosty pool. That really didn't make much sense, so close to the lava, did it? When in doubt, blame Fear.

She turned back when there was a slap, and saw Mort's hand slide down the wall. Well then! She'd been under the assumption that zombies were less comfortable removing their parts than a patchwork, but he was all stitched together. At his apology, her face went through a series of expressions. What in the world...?

"Don't get your arm wet,"
the chimera replied, instead of asking. Why in the world would the boil apologize, especially while covering himself? With her time at this school, Taryn had seen all types in all states of dress, has smelled and felt a lot that she wasn't all that pleased with. Seeing a zombie, whose scent she already knew, in a perfectly acceptable undead state of decomposition? What was wrong there? Sure, it might be somewhat awkward if his liver floated out, but something like that could probably just be stuffed back in. She moved over, making room for Mort on the ledge she had found.

Okay Mort, you have a ghoul in a swimsuit making room for you to sit by her. This was not that hard of a choice to make.

Yes it was.

Just don't think, like you always do. Take a leap of faith.

I am not leaping into the water oh Jack no no no no.

She's waiting, Mort. Just step in or something.

Okayfine.

With a little wince, Mort slipped off his shoes and socks foot by foot, dropped the bag, and shuffled over. Deep breath . . . Slowly, he lowered a foot in, not caring that his jeans would be getting wet. The warmth was shocking to the touch, but to his pleasant surprise it wasn't literally so. Still, his body was used to chilly temperatures, and this was a complete departure from his normal he couldn't help but suck in a gasp before planting the foot entirely in.

Okay . . . so far so good. In went the second foot, with the same reaction as before - but no shocking plagued him. Looking anxious nonetheless, the zomboil took a seat by her, content for now to just let his feet be in the water when he knew it was alright.

"Not, er . . . used to heat," he muttered to her, the proximity to the hot springs now making his glasses begin to fog up. "O-Or - Or water. But sh-should face fears . . . Need be up to captain's w-wants, yes?" The whole time he didn't look at her, staring at his own two feet wiggling toes in the water. "So, ah, do like springs then?"

Taryn only smiled as Mort finally joined her, although he was a bit blurry. She had taken her glasses off and placed them side, showing her face un-accessorized for the first time to anyone outside her immediate family. It didn't hit her at the time that she was more comfortable here than she may have been with anyone else. Maybe the zomboil was a good friendship to further pursue...

"Oh, come on. I'm not a captain by any means just because my name is on the list," Taryn said, shaking her head. A strong team was made by its members, although a good leader certainly helped. A leader could be wonderful, and still meet failure, the only difference was that a leader could flat-out fail their team. It was a responsibility the ghoul was willing to take on, of course, but there was a soft thrumming of nerves. What if she was the wrong choice? It was probably for the best that the conversation suddenly switched. "Oh, I don't know. I've only ever seen one, and it was cold; the best water I've ever tasted, though. They're interesting, like anything else, but this is... this is really nice. My parents always said that where we come from is very warm, Maybe I'm predisposed." A brief comment suddenly struck her, and she gave Mort a nudge on the shoulder. "It's always best to face your fears. It can only make you stronger." A year ago, her opinion might have been different, but her time at the academy had changed things.

Mort, sensing none of this inner nervousness Taryn had, figured she was being pretty chill about being the leader; maybe if he hadn't been so stupid before, he wouldn't have initiated a battle just to prove that. Sighing, he too slid his glasses off, feeling a little better - at the least now they were both of poor sight, so he couldn't accidentally stare at her chest like it had been somewhat tempting to do - seriously, they were like right there. "Well would hope f-fire breather like warms, yes?" he stated wit ha little smile, nudging her back. "But m'glad you like; will have much stress soon, best r-relax. Personally not like much, not hot ones least. M-Makes feel like wet n' sweaty - like cold n' dry more. Less moldy smell; n' smell can be problem when, well . . ."

As he trailed off, the sound of something shifting pebbles was heard not far from their position. Mort turned his head and squinted, not spying anything, but being on alert. Just because they hadn't spotted anything beyond rats last time didn't' mean other creatures didn't live there. "Who there?" he called.

There was no answer, save the barely audible sounds of something scuttling.

Taryn's head snapped toward the sound, just as it had when Mort's hand hit the wall. Her brain made the connection before she could really mull it over, and as she was twisted around with her elbow out, she asked a sincerely ridiculous question.

"Is it your hand?"
PostPosted: Sun Mar 04, 2012 10:02 pm

"What?" He passed her a strange look, not sure where that conclusion came from. "Is not able move on own, j-just twitches. Hold on." Sliding his glasses back on (even half-fogged up was better than no lenses), Mort stood up to go and investigate, just to be sure they weren't going to get ambushed by a horde of mutant rats, or something equally bad.

What he saw behind several stalagmites, however, made him blink. It was . . . a funny looking spider? No wait, it was a strange color for one. and it didn't have the same amount of legs -

And that was when Mort's right hand scuttled unnaturally between his legs, seeing the opportunity it most desired now open for the taking. Faster than the zomboil could turn around and hope to stop it, the hand made towards Taryn and about a foot or so away from her leapt forward, fingers outstretched towards her bust.

Of course, how silly of her to think that the boil's hand could move independently. He wasn't a patchwork, after all, and--

Taryn yelped and held her hands up to protect her face as the hand flew toward her. It was! It had been! Oh, Jack, what was it doing?! There was no real reaction, though, until it made contact.

"YAAAAAAAAAUGH!"

The chimera attempted to stand in the water, and heaved the lecherous hand across the cave again, not caring where it went. Hooves were not made for slippy rock, though, and so she slipped and scraped her hand on the stone, and as she righted herself she looked to Mort. Why would he do that?!

The hand went sailing right by his head, once again thwacking the wall with the sound of a wet towel. Mort's expression?

He couldn't even formulate words for several seconds, his jaw moving soundlessly while horror remained planted on his face. How could - since when - what -

Eventually when his mind stopped reeling, he sputtered out, "Th-That's not happened before, swear." Contrite and confused, he approached Taryn to make sure she hadn't hit anything hard after slipping. "You 'kay? I-It didn't - it didn't touch you, right?"

Oh Jack, why did he do everything wrong even when he wasn't even trying?

Flustered and frightened, Taryn allowed Mort to help her up and then crossed her arms over her chest. The look on his face told her that he hadn't been in control of what had just happened, which only made it more intimidating. His hand might as well be a beast, but it wasn't one they could crush or burn or stomp. It was a part of Mort!

"It did!" the poor ghoul yelped, feeling wholly violated. Her eyes welled and she snuffed just once out of shock before she pulled herself into Mort's arms and pointed to the hand. "Get it!"

After that helpful little expulsion, she gathered up her towel around herself again and clutched it hard.

Even though he didn't technically do it, Mort still had a severely guilty look on his face, and perhaps looked more bruise-colored than usual - a substitute for blushing. No amount of apologies could fix this, but getting the unruly hand was probably the best thing to do. Yeah.

Sally, this was the weirdest day in a while.

Nodding hastily, the zomboil turned to find the hand sprawled against the wall, fingers twitching in pain. Dropping the towel about his upper body, Mort focused his FEAR for a moment, and then broke into a jog, suddenly seeming to teleport the last few feet directly above the offending appendage. Glaring, he snatched the thing up by the wrist and shook it a little, its fingers flailing. "What do for?" he growled. "Taryn is good friend, i-is captain, not object with boobs! Treat better!"

The hand trembled, attempting to escape but being unable to reach the vicegrip holding it down.

"Mrrrrrr." Gripping it tighter, Mort delivered a sizeable shock, headache-inducing or not, and it seemed to do the trick better than expected: not only did it deliver a message, but the hand fell limp, innocuous once again; not even a twitch was felt. Though his feet did tingle unpleasantly. With a tiny sigh, he turned back to Taryn, showing her that the "spider" was dealt with. "Wasn't expecting . . . Never thought could make moving, promise," he insisted in all but mumbled, as flummoxed as she was about this new development. "M'sorry, v-very sorry, so sorry . . ."

Two violations in one day on the same ghoul? WTG, Mort. He looked like a classy piece of co-captain right now.

Taryn just kept protecting her chest, watching the proceedings with a deeply knotted brow. At the very least, it didn't seem as if Mort had any knowledge of his rogue hand. He had just advanced in grade, hadn't he? Maybe it was a new ability, and one he clearly didn't have the grandest control of. The way he spoke made her smile, though, and she approached to look over the hand that was, once again, very much under Mort's control.

"How strange. Exciting, though! Your hand is sentient, maybe more of you is. That could be useful." Maybe. If he could make it stop grabbing boobs. All of a sudden, the ghoul blushed vividly.

Technically, Mort had touched her boob.

Around the same time, Mort came to that same conclusion, which counted even though he didn't actually feel it himself. This was followed by a loud clearing of his throat and a hasty series of nods. "H-Hope so . . ." He used the detached hand to scratch the back of his neck in that characteristic manner of his when self-conscious, and then proceeded to pick up his stuff from the ground. "Er, w-will leave be for better destress. Should g-go turn homework in n'way. Overall, er, how'd like spring?"

So they were leaving now? Taryn was almost ready to leap back in the water, but it appeared as if that wasn't happening. There was no way she was sticking around here alone, with what was known to happen on campus. She began back toward the changing area and shouted her response to Mort.

"It's nice! Very nice. I'd like to come back some time!"
PostPosted: Mon Mar 05, 2012 8:29 pm

Poor Taryn, Mort was so concentrated on just getting out of there before something else happened that he didn't notice she wanted to stay longer. What else was going to happen and make him a fool, his feet popping off next? Out to . . . He didn't know, tickle her or something! Or maybe even kick. Who knew what intentions these newly animated appendages had. He'd have to figure it out and fast, though, as he couldn't afford to be a liability when each member had to be in working condition for the trials.

"Kay, good, good . . . Follow signs, still 'r up from class. Remember, behind undead d-dorms, n' cave," he listed off, tossing the right hand into his bag and zipping it up with his socks, shoes, and shirt. The towel came about his upper body, kept in place under his arm. "Mrrr . . ."

Don't think about how you just touched her boob. Don't think about how you just touched her boob. Don't, man, don't. He waited patiently and rubbed his forehead with a sigh, wondering if he'd ever truly get ahold of himself.

Taryn came back out in her normal clothing, her towel turned into bathing suit sushi. Her hair was nicely dry even with her little slip, and now hung slightly wavy about her shoulders.

"Well, we'd have to go together. I don't like the idea of going in alone." She didn't much like the idea with other people seeing her in her swimsuit, either. The ghoul hip-checked Mort as she passed him, heading back through the cave. "I wonder if anyone's ever gotten lost in here."
