Raistlin nodded and gave a light chuckle "sounds like a deal" he said as he laid out various ingredients. "there are kitsu's of every type here, my mates mother, is a goddess of the sea." he said with a light shrug. It takes all kinds.
As she explained get dosages "I'll start with the safest lowest manageable dose, and I'll make a couple with stronger dosages in case you have a need for them." He paused as he searched for something, muttering under his breath. "Besit!!" a moment later a small nightmare imp came bounding in the room, golden eyes never leaving Raistlin. "I require more marjoram, would you find some for me" the small creature nodded and bounded out of the room, but not before grabbing a small satchel in its mouth.
"Chaos carries a lot of guilt. In his youth he had no control, and almost harmed someone close to him. He cannot forgive himself, and chooses exile as punishment. I presume anyways." he shrugged softly.

A goddess of the sea. A rea goddess? Probably. Maybe. She wasn't sure she'd ever get used to things here, not when it came to the level of impossible that just seemed to keep happening. "I- okay." What do you even say about that? "So you're having kids soon?" You change the subject to something more manageable, apparently.
Vic watched the imp come and go fairly impassively. Just another odd thing today, but it wasn't as odd as, say, a prismatic shadow-kitsu. If she got herself riled up over every little thing here she'd have died of a heart attack in the first week she was here. Though she wondered what the marjoram was for...
Chaos' story as Raistlin put it struck more than one note with her, though, and she stared rather fixedly out the window for a long moment. "...Yeah, that sounds like something I'd do." She'd been a lot more careful about keeping up with her meds after Gambol barged into her life. If she'd ever hurt him because of it... No, she definitely wouldn't have forgiven herself. Damn it, she missed him...
((This is before Gambol has arrived officially, by the by. Might have to do an RP where he falls on Kaale and Chaos later to introduce him. XD ...Maybe literally, falling on Chaos out of thin air sounds amusing for some reason. >.>; ))

Raistlin nodded and ground up a dried flower, adding it to a boiling pot. "yes that's correct, my mate had two eggs, they should hatch...well any time now" he said with a soft grin, he was nervous and excited about it, and wondered what they would be like. "if only having them would smooth things over with her father.." Raistlin muttered with a frown and a sigh, returning to his concoction, checking the ratio of something before adding another extract to it.
Raistlin tilted his head, and regarded her out of the corner of his eyes. "it sounds like the two of you might have more in common than I thought, perhaps one day I could introduce you. Or Kaale could, he was raised by Chaos." He pursed his lips, and made some scribbles on a sheet of paper, keeping track of what he was adding to the mixture. "one thing I've learned here, is everyone is accepted, in one way or another. I've come across many different types with many different personalities or conditions. But there really is someone accepting of it...." End of soap box.
((hahaha that would be awesome, poor Chaos))

Vic grinned a bit at his obvious excitement about the eggs. "Well, congrats. Here's hoping they don't set the place on fire when they start trying to figure out that burning hand thing of yours." It was meant teasingly... mostly. Kids and fire weren't usually a good combination, but Raistlin seemed to know what he was about with that stuff so she wasn't too worried.
She frowned a bit at his follow up comment about the grandfather, though. "Ah... I take it no one's good enough for daddy's little girl and her bright future?" She could understand parental protectiveness but why couldn't a parent ever let their grown child make their own decisions? It made her want to punch things. Namely the parents' faces.
"...The guy's name is Chaos? How poetic. I feel for him actually having to deal with living up to it." Perhaps that might be nice, actually. Someone else who actually understood where she was coming from... that was something she'd never had. As for acceptance... would Gambol have accepted everything if she'd told him? Her fear had been part of the trigger for the argument... Damn it, she needed to stop thinking about him. "Well... you'll probably have the opportunity, or I guess I could ask Kaale when I see him again. I'll need to drop by here again sooner or later anyway... and you two are the closest thing I've got to friends in this place so far."

Raistlin chuckled and bowed his head "thank you, I hope their abilities wait until they are old enough, before they emerge." he said with a small smile. At her summary of Davey, he nodded again. "Nenda, my mate, her father is a ferryman of the dead and lost souls of the sea. He hoped she would take over and run the ship and crew. It was a litter of four, and so Davey entrusted Nenda to me to guard and raise, and to train..." he paused, a faraway look on his face "before I knew what was going on, she had my heart. I never pressured her, or said anything to her. By some luck of fate, she felt the same....her father didn't see it that way. I ruined all his plans for her, destroyed her, corrupted her...basically I'm the devil" he said softly, with a sad tone, then motioned for the door "the pills need to settle and harden, would you like to join me outside?" While he waited for her, he continued "perhaps it was his namesake, or just fate having fun...anytime you feel up to it, Chaos always welcomes company. And Kaale could use the socialization" he said with a grin.

"Crock of bull if you ask me, when parents do that... I get wanting to protect your child, but at some point they grow up, and all that work you put into trying to get them ready, to help them think for themselves and be able to make their own choices and take care of themselves... and suddenly when the kid goes and does that very thing it's horrible and catastrophic because they didn't do it the way the parent wanted it done. Might as well get a damn VI Construct, they obviously weren't prepared for a living being." She couldn't keep the bitterness out of her voice. Apparently it was something of a touchy subject for her.
She also quickly changed the subject back to Chaos when given the opportunity. "Well Fate certainly seems to have a fickle sense of humor if you ask me. But sure, I might as well meet him. You like him, and I like you, so he can't be all bad. Especially if he raised Kaale. Neither of you had any reason to help me except that I needed help... that's... not usually something that happened to me a lot back home."

Raistlin gave a soft nod "I have the same feelings, but he won't hear any of it...maybe one day he will soften up, but I doubt it. It seems I sacrificed one of my few friends, for my love" he couldn't help but shrug, he held no regrets.
He gave her an honest smile, and bowed his head softly "I consider you a friend, and if I can be honest. If I met you in the world I came from...I don't know I'd it would be the same. For no fault of your own! But on that world...I was a different person. I was treated differently. Like a plague almost. I hated everybody, even my own brother..." he said gently. "but here...the world is so different. I'm not treated like a disease. For the most part anyways. I try to keep that going, treating everyone with decency until they give me a reason otherwise." he explained softly, hoping he hadn't offended her by his poor choice of words.

Vic finally shrugged as well. "Well I guess you have me now instead, if that means much." Friends were few and far between for her... and she could certainly use one here.
His following statement, and then explanation, left her quiet for a long time. "I guess we'll never know that. Maybe it's a good thing." She certainly wasn't offended. She could understand... more than he knew, maybe. "I was... a bounty hunter. A flat out mercenary sometimes. I hunted down bad people, and if I found out the person I'd been sent after wasn't so bad, I did what I could to help instead. Don't really take well to being lied to. And having people owe me who knew secrets about people I didn't want on my back... well, that came in handy sometimes. I didn't really do friends though. I couldn't afford to. Too many enemies and... secrets..."
She was quiet for a long moment. "There was one guy... one real friend... Sometimes I wish he had left me alone when I asked, I don't know that I'd have realized how lonely I was. But there were still enemies, and secrets, and he got tired of me holding him at arms length. We didn't exactly part on good terms the last time I saw him, and now..." She fell silent, not really wanting or trusting herself to speak any more at the moment. Not like Raist couldn't finish the sentence on his own though. Now I'll never have the chance to say I'm sorry.

The Mage nodded softly and gave a gentle chuckle "it seems we have a bit in common..." he said as he bent to pick a large deep purple flower from his garden, the flower seemed to move and sway, and had veins of vibrant electric blue that pulsated along the petals "I created this, after meeting Chaos and learning of his situation..." he turned the flower over in his hands, and it's colors shifted in intensity "it is handy in emergencies, a single petal will give you a mild sedative, paired with a strong euphoric shock. It cannot replace the medication, but it will get you through a rough patch. And some prefer the particular rush. If you plant it when you return home, it will grow for you, and you will find, after time...it senses things" with that he handed her the strange flower, and continued to todder along the garden. "I have to believe....that deep down, people feel what is left unsaid. It is difficult to hide that kind of truth. I believe your friend knows..." he said gently, as he regarded her, a kind expression on his features. "and I am honored to call you my friend. Your past is past, your not the same being, we change every day we exist. It would be unfair of me to judge you for someone you are no longer...I hope...I hope one day, we all find the forgiveness we are searching for..."

Vic followed the mage around the garden, stopping for a moment to stare at the odd flower when he handed it to her. She regarded it for a long moment before tucking into the collar of her coat, shaking her head softly at what it might represent for her. "A euphoric shock, huh..." Maybe she wouldn't have to go pick up random guys at bars anymore when things got... tense. Sure the flings were fun sometimes, and she might still do it if she actually felt like it, but not having to would be... well it might finally wash some of the bad taste out of her mouth.
The rest of what he said left her silent though, and after a moment she simply stopped walking. Vic stared at the ground through the veil of her hair for a long, long moment, mind stuck in a loop of hope and denial. Her mouth felt dry. Her eyes felt a bit damp. But she couldn't bring herself to cry about it, as much as she wanted to at the moment. He really hadn't sounded all that understanding, or forgiving, when I'd tried to call him later... Maybe he'd just needed time to cool off more. Maybe she'd jumped the gun on leaving so fast. Maybe this was all pointless speculation because she was in an entirely different reality now and none of that really made a damn bit of difference any more.
"I hope... you do, at least." She said softly. She was really good at ignoring herself when she wanted to.

Raistlin waved off her underestimation of herself "we all deserve it. Now come, let's go check on the pills, they should be done now" he shuffled back to the cabin, and Besit ran up to him, and gently placed the full bag in his hand, took a treat and took off again. Once they were back inside, he emptied the contents into a pot of boiling water and let it steep. He lightly tapped on one of the capsules, they looked exactly like the ones she had before, but they had a little hourglass crossed with a staff lightly embedded onto the surface; his mark. "they are ready, and I am confident in the mixture" he said with a nod, and emptying the finished capsules into her pill bottle, filling it completely.

Vic shook her head and simply followed Raistlin back. It wasn't always a matter of whether or not you deserved it. Sometimes you just... needed it. To hear it. Can you even deserve something when you aren't supposed to exist? She shook her head again, angrily this time. God, hadn't she gotten past those questions a long time ago? This wasn't the time for this.
She watched the pills tumble into her bottle, a palpable sense of relief making her shoulders sag slightly at the sight. Even if they didn't work as well as the old ones, and she was pretty sure they would anyway, but even if, she could at least get more now, and adjust her dosage as she needed it until she figured out what would work. She picked one out and looked at the little symbol on it, grinning slightly. "You craftsmen and your fancy symbols." She was more used to weapons having personal craft markers than things like this... she'd teased the gunsmith about it too.
Apparently there were even people she didn't like all that much that she missed. Damn. "Well, thanks. For the flower, too. And... well I don't really know what they use around here for currency, or anything. I guess I'll pretty much just perpetually owe you favors or something?"

"allow an old mage his moment" Raistlin replied with a chuckle, as he finished preparing his tea and taking a long sip, hoping to cut off a coughing fit before it happened. He took a few moments, trying to control his shattered lungs, but it was inevitable. His fit came on fast and strong, doubling him over and sending his tea spilling all over his work bench. Cursing under what breath he had available, he pulled his handkerchief out and covered his mouth, to catch the blood that inevitably came from his lungs. It lasted a few moments, this violent, lung shattering fit, and left him weakened and needing to sit down. He searched around for his tea, and cursed again, it would be a few minutes before he had the strength to make another cup. "my....my apologies" he raspily spoke to Vic, his voice hoarse from coughing. Trying to return to the issue at hand, he spoke slowly "you owe me nothing....friendship is payment...enough" he offered a weak smile. "you are more than....welcome to stay here...when you test my capsules...I am confident...but things happen...." he paused to wince, at an inner pain, and dab another spot of blood from his lip. "I would...not want you to be...somewhere and discover they...don't work..."

Vic had seen Raistlin having coughing fits before, but this one seemed particularly bad. She reached over to brace him automatically when he doubled over, at least wanting to prevent him from bashing his own head on the table or... something. There wasn't really a lot she could do, she realized. It... bothered her. If I could get him to one of the medical facilities back home they could probably do some sort of scan to find out how damaged his lungs are and try to repair them, at least partially... but there's no use wishing for that sort of thing.
So she just frowned at the blood on his handkerchief and popped a pill after he was safely seated. Letting him know for sure if his handiwork had done the trick was something they both needed to know, after all. And the last thing she wanted to do right now was make him more stressed about something so stupid... "Um... you got a towel or something? I could mop that mess up while you catch your breath... I mean, unless you don't want me to or something."
It wasn't pity or anything. Vic just... liked to do something to keep her hands and mind occupied when she was worried about something she couldn't control. It wasn't like she'd ever gotten into the habit of talking about her problems... which drove Gambol up the wall when he was trying to pin her down about some issue or other. I really need to stop reminding myself about how much I miss him every five goddamn minutes.

Raistlin appreciated when Vic steadied him, he gave her a light pat on her arm as he eased himself down. When she offered to clean up his tea, he shook his head softly "the offer is...appreciated but I could...use another cup instead" he said wincing at a pain deep in his lungs. He indicated a fair sized jug filled with his herby tea "if, you wouldn't mind...heating up another cup....I would be so great full" he said softly. When she took her pill he nodded, it was something he was going to suggest, but never had the time before his attack came on. He gave a soft, ironic smile. "in my world before I came here, I would have scoffed at assistance. Even from my brother I loathed it....funny how things have changed" he said softly. After a few moments passed he spoke again "is the pill...working? Or is it too soon to tell? I'm not sure...."
