Tambuzi chewed over all this dialogue between the two, his eyes flicking back and forth from the fiery femme to the dull male. He was somewhat glad he had not been brought into this debate, but much of what was said by the two seemed to conflict geatly with his own views.

But he wasn't about to put his paw in it, he didn't want a shiny new scar added to his pristine pelt.

"Can't you just agree-to-disagree? Everyone has their own view of freedom, but I don't see why that should cause conflict," he let his thoughts slip out through his mouth.

Tambuzi, although rogue born-and-raised, had never encountered any Firekin before, and as such, was ignorant to their sense of pride and superiority. Today would certainly be a lesson to store in the recesses of his mind.

"You assume too much half breed." She snapped in return, eyes blazing with a renewed rage, did he want a fight, was that it? Her hackles rose and she took a step forward, snarling menacingly at him. "You seem ignorant of the ways of our pride and that in itself proves how foolish you are. My parents cared for me and brought me up in the way of tradition." But...had they loved her? The question lingered in her mind a few moments longer before she shook it from her thoughts.

She listened to his words with a growing anger, how dare he say such things. If he dared tread on firekin lands they would tear him apart, she would personally see to that. "Adventure is over-rated," she snapped, "and you are even more of a fool to walk upon the territory of another's pride. They may be lowlifes compared to the Firekin but they were strong enough to set up their own ranks."

She growled deep in her throat and swished her tail abruptly sideways, "you are right, they probably would kill me, but harsh rules make for strong lions and lionesses. I have been wandering these lands for many long months and never have I met a more cunning and strong lion as those from my own pride."

At his last phrase she looked a little startled, they meant freedom? Then what of her own scars? The ones hidden beneath the fur that had grown to conceal them...were they a sign of her freedom too? Could she consider wandering as a rogue free or was it just something false. For a moment the anger swept from her leaving a rather thoughtful lioness in it's wake. Now that the furrowed wrinkles had gone from her face she looked almost pretty under the rays of the sun - her scarred eye the only blemish to ruin the image.

"H-how dare you talk to me like that." She snapped suddenly and perhaps would have chosen that moment to attack, and would have if it hadn't been for the quiet lion speaking up.

Her body jerked and her head swung around to look at the smaller lion who was looking at them. Agree to disagree? Her head canted ever so slightly, thoughts overlapped with a slight growl. "It is not that which causes the dispute, your friend shows disrespect to me and my pride. He mocks my kin, not that you would understand."

Zizima considered what the female said for a moment. The idea of the Firekins changing their ways seemed laughable to him, so as far as he knew, everything he had said was fact. "What I have stated is fact, taken from what I saw as a youth within the Pride. If the Firekin have changed at all since then, then I am indeed ignorent to their ways. But considering how obsessed they are with 'tradition', I find that highly questionable."

Again he fell silent to let the Firekin femme say her piece. A small, gruff chuckle radiated in his throat. "Surely you cannot think that? Even taking the smallest steps outside of your native land, that is adventure...maybe you just haven't travelled far enough to appreciate the World outside of the Firekins." For some strange reason he was warming towards the lioness. It wasn't all that genuine though, as he was starting to pity her. It was like she had been totally brainwashed by the Firekin and that the Firekin were the be all and end all.

When the lioness herself fell silent, he watched as her expression changed. She was really quite pretty when her face wasn't all scrunched up in a frown. In turn, his own expression softened a little, but only for a moment before the smaller lion spoke up. Zizima's usual frown returned as he shook his head heavily. "Nothing of what this lioness believes in can be agreed with..." Turning back to her, he growled, bearing his teeth ever so slightly. It wasn't like him to bear his fangs at a female, but he was reaching the end of his tether. "I do not mock your kin, I do not need to...for they themselves are a living mockery. A mockery to our kind, and a mockery to the most basic morals and ethics."

Tambuzi flinched as the lioness focused her piercing eyes on him, and then again when Zizima addressed him. This was like watching parents fight - nothing to really do to either help or stop. And their body language said more than their words could. Tambuzi didn't want a fight, he didn't to see a fight. Normally, he'd be relieved that it was someone else getting involved, but that was different today.

"Well, so what if he is mocking your pride , your kin. You know different so why should it bother you?" he spoke to the female, but was getting the increasingly strong feeling that he should stay a spectator.

She growled fiercely, feeling soundly hounded on by the pair. What had she been thinking to sneak up on them? All she'd wanted was a bit of fun, to see the fear in their eyes before bounding away. She'd been bored and despite being a Firekin she was up for some fun...though a strange sort.

"It's lions like you who are ruining the pride. Tradition is everything! You filthy half breeds don't realise how blessed you are with the genes of our mighty Finar-si." Her teeth clipped together, lips curling up to reveal them. Her face wrinkled with a snarl once more as she took a small step back. She didn't like this situation...not one little bit.

His last sentence was like a stab in her mind, and it tore away her pride. Perhaps it hurt more because deep down she knew it was truth. That if the firekin had been more open minded that she'd have her two cubs and the rogue she loved. Yet she had chosen this lonesome life over that...

No...she had gotten what she had deserved.

She had betrayed her kin with her treachery and if this was her punishment then so be it.

"You shall die where you stand!" And with that she circled slowly round, keeping both lions in viewing range. She'd find that weakness and she'd attack it, she just hoped she wasn't rusty with her skills or else she'd be commiting suicide.

The large, looming lion rolled his eyes and shook his head fiercly. "That's right, blame other's for your Pride's one-way path to ruin. Only by doing that will you keep this illusion of a pure and strong pride."

Zizima stood firm as the lioness began to circle, only moving his head to follow the lioness' steps. Perhaps, deep down, he had been trying to provoke her, and now that it seemed like she wanted a fight, he was totally ready for it. "Just so you know, if you attack, I will not hold back." That was his way of saying that he didn't want to fight, but since it was only a small part of him that didn't fancy a bit of a brawl, it didn't come out anything like that. He only considered the other lion that was there for a moment. "If you don't want to become involved I suggest you move to a safe distance..." He muttered towards Tambuzi, who was so small by his standards that it would've made him laugh if he considered further the thought of this lion getting involved in the fight that may follow.

Tambuzi rose to his feet faster than a meerkat scatters. His fur bristled a little, but his pose in general was not threatening...yet. From experience, he'd never been a strong fighter, because of his size, but he was a smart fighter, and had his own war-stories to tell.

She sounds insane! How can anyone be so devoted, and yet so quick to press upon the others the pride she believes in? Tambuzi mulled over in his skull.

He didn't react to Zizima's friendly suggestion, and stayed at his rather advantageous post on the boulder.

"I shall blame you and others like you because it is the truth. I left the Pride when it was flourishing and plentiful and in one generation tradition has been lost. If I had been Finar-si I would have hunted all you disgusting things down and slaughtered you myself." Okay perhaps that wasn't true, but Ripuka was getting angry now....very, very angry.

The truth was that she was scared, for if Zizima spoke truths then she had been brought up knowing nothing but lies, basing her life on nothing more than a fantasy. She couldn't believe that, she couldn't. The pride was her life and if she denied it what would happen to her? Would she be lost?

"I don't expect mercy." She spat, "mercy is for the weak." And that is what she truly believed. If there was one thing she had learned out here it was never to leave an enemy alive, never let someone go who might one day rise up to strike you down. This big lion was a threat and so it had to be destroyed.

Her ears flicked sideways as she heard the other lion get to his feet and shifted her position again, ever keeping her eyes on the pair. If he stayed where he was she wouldn't bring the fight to him, but if he insisted...then...she didn't want to think about it. Her muzzle wrinkled in a snarl, bi-coloured eyes narrowing as she shuffled sideways, paws moving silently across the ground. "Let me add a couple more scars to your bountiful collection." she growled, lips curling up to reveal yellowing fangs. "Let me tear the flesh from your bones, let me slaughter you like the animal you are." She was taunting him, urging him to come at her.

She paused in step, lowering herself to protect her vulnerable throat and underbelly. Then with a swipe of a paw she sent a rock flying towards him, aimed for his face.

And so it starts.

Zizima was through talking, so he let the harsh words that the lioness spat out just go over his head. She needed to be taught a lesson, one that would stick. Head lowered, he started to circle, keeping a fair amount of distance between himself and the lioness. It wasn't his style to just spring into a fight. His seemingly empty black eyes remained firmly fixed on the lioness' figure as she too started walking.

When she paused, so did he, just in time to see the rock come flying towards him. He only just managed to dodge it, but for that split second he fell off his guard. Snarling, sharp white fangs and pink gums beared, he realised the mistake he had made. He knew the lioness was faster than him, so it was mistakes like that that he couldn't afford to make.

Tambuzi winced at the lioness' somewhat gory threats, and watched from his little perch with tensed paws and taut limbs. The fur along his spine stood on end slightly, the adrenaline rushed through his veins. He knew this wasn't his fight, and if he was smart, it never had to be.

But Tambuzi was no coward, and although Zizima looked more than capable of defending himself from this lioness, the little lion would not run and leave him to be mauled.

Her ears flattened back against her skull so that they could not be torn by fangs, her tail curled about a hind leg so that it could not be used against her as she circled. Her distraction caused her to smirk in a menacing fashion, her eyes flashing with joy at the thought of battle. She gave a short growl before giving the other a haughty look and opening her jaws to speak...or rather to sing.

"Now, now little cub, don't be shy. Tooth and claw may bring you pain, but don't be afraid to die." The fur along her spine bristled and her bi-coloured eyes stared intently at the lion circling with her. She did not spare the smaller lion a glance only because she couldn't afford to be distracted now.

In seconds the lioness bounced forwards in a menacing fashion, a rumbling roar echoing from parted jaws. Yet as quick as she approached she darted backwards, intending on keeping the fear in his veins.

Zizima wasn't used to this sort of combat, what he prefered was to just get stuck in. And the lioness' crazy singing wasn't helping his mood much. Roaring, he lunged forward, just as the lioness darted backwards. The idea of playing cat and mouse with her really didn't appeal to him, so in another bound, he went at her again, pouncing high in an attempt to tackle her to the ground.

Tambuzi kept his distance, safely perched on his little outpost. Whilst ready for anything, his expression was one of concentration and deep thought as he analysed and logged every movement exchanged between the two.

Since the onset of puberty, where most aggressive males found entertainment in Tambuzi's small size, he had learned to mentally take note of the moves that lions would make - so he could think three steps ahead.

He found Ripuka's actions to be very curious, but from experience, he had seen tactics like this before. Zizima's actions however came as no surprise to this dimintuative lion.

He had done just what she had wanted to and with a shrill laugh of delight slipped sideways and out from under his weight as he pounced.

Oh this was fun!

"Lion too slow, oh no, oh no!" She chanted in a sing-song fashion as she lowered herself and zipped towards him once more, intent on swiping a hefty gash into his side.

Perhaps she was enjoying herself a little too much, but she didn't really care. A good fight is all one needed to truly feel ALIVE!

Zizima snarled and spat at his opponent, clearly beginning to lose his temper. "I will wipe that hideous smirk off your face even if it kills me!" Claws extended, he swirved on the spot, digging all four sets of claws deep into the ground to steady himself before he went at her again.

Dust and dirt was flying up all over the place, threatening both their eyes and their throats. The larger lion tried to ignore it thoughj, and focused solely on bringing the irritating female down. It was only through this new found focus that he managed to dodge the female's latest swipe at his side. "Heh, wasn't slow that time was I?" It was so unlike him to make pointless banter during a fight, but Ripuka truely had brought out the worst in him. Roaring, he went up on to his hind legs and extended his front ones, bringing them down swiftly from above towards the female.
