For maybe half a second, the girl was deluded into thinking she was safe as the woman seemed to release her neck. Yet nothing could have prepared her for what followed.

This girl had encountered monsters in the city, her family had been protected by senshi and she herself had been rescued by the knight who was once more trying to defend her again. Yet she would have never expected to rather suddenly have a hand shoved through her chest.

Logic was not even something factoring into her head at that very moment. Only panic and pain seemed to flood her senses, the hand touching her very soul (though she was unaware of such a fact) flared up an insufferable tightness in her chest. Her body's trembling grew more violent, seeming to resonate from her core all the way to the tips of her fingers. She couldn't even make out the sounds coming from the mouths of the man and woman.

All she could hear was one thing.

Her own voice screaming as loud as it possibly could, growing quite hoarse in even the shortest amount of time since her own voice usually didn't hit that volume. Her whole self was now trying to find a way to survive and using every tactic possible to try and keep living for another day.

The Terra Viridis Crystal. So she was right then. This guy, whoever he was, had a Rainbow Crystal, and that meant a slightly shift in plans for Mica. After all, everyone had a starseed, but not every person that crossed her path had a Rainbow Crystal.

“ See? Wasn’t so hard. And since you asked so nicely…”

Mica let go of the girl’s starseed and yanked her hand out of her chest. Hopefully all of the racket she’d made would be ignored, because Mica would hate to be interrupted by cops or some other type of busy body. Keeping herself between the girl and the knight, Mica carefully stepped out of arm’s reach of the girl – no need to make getting attacked from behind any easier – and twirled her spear lazily in front of her.

“ Well then? Show me yours and I’ll show you mine.”

A mistake, perhaps, but Mica rather thought the odds were in her favor. She may not know what power his crystal had, but she knew what power her’s had, and unless he was very lucky or very powerful, she believed she’d survive whatever he’d throw at her.

Camelot was having a hard time splitting his attention. All he wanted to do was run to Yvette and get her out of there, away from the Nega, out of danger. Danger he blamed himself for putting her in. Just because he had wanted to find his dog.

He felt guilty. He made her come looking with him. He made her and it was probably because of some subconscious way of blaming her even though it was Nathan's fault. He hated himself more for that, over thinking things, coming up with every way it was possibly his fault.

But he had to focus. Because blaming himself for her misfortune would not get her out of it, and that was what he needed to do. He had to be a hero here.

He was her knight.

"NO!" He heard Yvette screaming, saw how desperately close to losing an innocent life, one he deeply cared for no less, he was. What kind of a knight was he, exactly, that he would let this happen? He watched Yvette drop to the floor, terror filling him. Was she dead? He lifted his shield, snarling at the Nega.

"You want to see my Crystal? Come on then." He needed to get her away from Yvette, though: he did not want to blast her on accident with the power of his crystal. He held his shield in front of him and took some steps forward. His eyes were dangerous and set: he was not going to back down, not for anything.

She would see what she wanted, and more.

It had been quick, but it had been anything but painless. It had been but a moment that the woman had her hand in her chest, but it felt like hours for the girl. The moment that hand was no longer unnaturally shoved through her body, the girl's knees went out. She had barely been standing to begin with, and now she didn't even have the strength to keep up the charade.

The area was mostly dirt, save for a couple patches of dry, scratchy grass. Had she been sincerely lucky, she would have landed so that her face was against the vague amount of cushioning in the form of dying plants. However, she landed with her knees receiving such cushioning, her face colliding with the dirt. She'd easily have a few scratches on her face as a result, but it wasn't like Yvette would be able to register such pain now. Maybe it was just the shock of surviving what she had experienced, but such pain was trivial at the moment.

Dogby...

That was all the girl could mouth soundlessly before her eyes shut. She was still alive, still breathing, but she had definitely seen better days.

Actually attacking was obviously too much to ask of the wanna-be knight in shining armor. In Mica’s mind, Camelot had already earned a hasty, unflattering classification. He wanted to be a hero, and every hero needed a villain, so he’d orchestrate things so that she’d be that villain. He’d already started, interrupting Mica’s work and forcing her to make this a much more unpleasant business then was necessary. Therefore, it was doubtful he’d actually attack first. No, he’d huff and puff and posture, but he’d leave that to the “villain.”

Mica snorted. Fine. She’d happily break this stand-off. If he wanted to save the day then he’d have the think fast though, because Mica blurred and was up in his personal space in a blink, fist flying towards his face.

Camelot watched as Yvette collapsed, his heart leaping into his throat. Worry pierced through him but he had little time to consider if she was alright, or feel more guilt about her last thought being about Dogby, before Mica had moved to attack him.

His attention shifted to her and everything inside him shifted as well. His shield flew up to defend him, on his arm like it was always a part of him, as natural to use now as the limb itself. He felt it rattle and heard a sharp clang as her hand hit it, but the sound was new.

It sounded metallic.

Light had burst from around him, through him even, but he had shut his eyes as his instincts took over to defend himself. Opening them now, he blinked away the bright daze and felt power surge through him. It was new. He was whole.

The Knight of Earth stood where the Squire had been before, his long shield shimmering under the dim lights of the street around them. He was a knight of modern times, though he looked like he'd stepped out of a fairy tale. His armor was strong and new, the white of his tunic unblemished as the red symbol of his planet burned against it.

The eye of the dragon on his shield glistened, and Camelot lowered the weapon just enough to see over it. His eyes locked on his opponent and he focused on the crystal that was resting within the magical weapon. His crystal. The one she wanted so badly to see.

"Terra Viridis Crystal Power!" He yelled, and light exploded from the emblem on his shield. The light could not pierce or burn, and left no wound where it touched, but it did leave pain.

(Oh God, lost track of this one so I just powered him up >> Sorry about how long this took bwaaah.)

That was unexpected. And unfortunate. Previously Mica had judged herself equal in strength to this stranger, but now he was stronger, tilting the odds in his favor. She found she didn’t like it.

“ Amber Crystal Power.” She bit out, a faint orange bubble springing up around Mica just before Camelot’s attack hit. It didn’t stop the pain, only dulled it somewhat, and she found herself gritting her teeth against a scream.

When the pain finally abated enough for her to think clearly, Mica shot the knight a dark look before teleporting away.

Camelot watched as Mica vanished, taking a slow breath. He was shaken, and he had not begun to process what had just occurred. It was all too much, really, and he was still dealing with it.

He knew he had not made a friend in that nega, but the thought did not upset him too much.

She had nearly taken someone very important away from him, and that was a loss he could not bear. He moved to Yvette's side, putting his hand on her shoulder lightly.

"Yvette?" he asked, though he didn't want to shake her. He checked to make sure she was alive, then resolved to pick her up and take her home. He was careful about it, gathering her into his arms gently. He walked slowly, sticking to the shadows. A knight carrying an unconscious damsel in distress was good in story books, but not on residential streets so much.

Things were slowly starting to register again. The girl felt cold, and in her chest, there was a certain soreness. She'd never be able to explain it on her own, since she really didn't even understand what had happened. Her world was still black, but there was a warmth, which her body naturally seemed to curl in towards. Her body shivered slightly as it leaned in against the knight's chest.

However, she managed to hear something amidst all the darkness and cold. It was high pitched and familiar. It sounded like something she had lost.

"....D-dogby...?" It seemed as if the girl was stirring, her voice still as soft as usual and she finally began to shift slightly in the older man's arms.

Camelot stopped, looking down at the girl in his arms, who felt far too small and light. She was not supposed to be caught in the middle of all this, and yet here she was.

He felt some hope when she moved, though. He had not heard the noise, but he was too distracted for it.

"Don't move, Yvette, you're safe. Just hold on a bit, I'll get you home," he said softly, and then he heard the whine as well. A small, shivering, messy corgi came out from under a bush, looking up at Camelot and Yvette sadly. She whined softly and Camelot looked stunned.

"Come here, girl," he said gently, and Dogby ran over as fast as he little legs would carry her. He managed to pick the corgi up by putting her on Yvette, hoping maybe she would hold on to the corgi while he carried them both. It was the only arrangement he could really make.

His worry just doubled at this point, but his relief at her waking up and at Dogby's return was at war with it.

It was almost like a child with her favorite stuffed animal. When Dogby was put into her arms, the girl seemed at ease, almost snuggling into place for a nap. Yvette trusted the voice of this man who was carrying her.

She was safe.
