"I know some artisans too," Msrah offered, "I can go with you sometime if you want."

Most of his siblings had followed in their parents footsteps, and either worked as hunters or nannies. But if he started counting friends and friends parents he knew quite a few artisans. He had never considered it as a career choice, but he greatly admired the creativity and skill involved. Not to mention the pretty results of their hard work.

Zehoret's bashfulness at the slightest hint of a compliment made him want to reassure her and protect her. In some ways she behaved like a shy cub and he wondered what it would take to get her out of her shell. He nudged one of the bones closer to her and pushed the other closer to Tay.

"I hope you didn't plan to let me eat all of this myself."

((Isn't she pretty?))

Tay smiled at Zehoret and then at Msrah. She didn't think her assistance would really be necessary in this matter. In fact, it would probably be better if she left it up to the two of them to make arrangements, since she didn't really know Zehoret that well and any jewelry she did acquire was bound to mean more coming from Msrah than it would coming from her.

"Actually, I do have to be going," she said with her most earnest face. She was, in fact, lying, but she was lying for a good cause and so she justified it to herself. "I'm supposed to be having dinner with Carnelian."

Her brother had never been all that good at making friend and once when they were cubs she had promised him that they would always be best friends, and she took that promise seriously. Msrah, at least, would know that her excuse was plausible.

"The two of you enjoy it though." She flashed one more quick smile at them and stepped into the lengthening shadows of the temple, where her dark coat would quickly blend in.

Zehoret blinked, and took the bone shyly, settling to eat before looking up, ears pricking, to Tay.

"Oh, okay." She smiled, nodding her head respectfully.

"It was certainly a pleasure to meet you, ma'am." She continued smiling, shyly, to the other female. It was nice making a friend!

"Oh," Msrah said, not doubting Tay's motives for a moment. He knew Carnelian, and Tay had once told him about the promise, "Tell him I said hi!"

When he was younger he sometimes got a bit jealous when Tay favoured her brother, but tonight it didn't bother him at all. Might be because he was a lot more grown up now. Carnelian was a nice lion, if a bit hard to get to know. It was good that he had a friend in Tay. It would have been nice if she had been able to stay and chat for a bit longer, but he hoped Zehoret wouldn't mind. He realised that his new friend might not know Tay's brother.

"Her brother," Msrah explained when Tay had left, "They're very close."

Family had always been important to Msrah, and growing up with many brothers and sisters meant never having to be alone.

"Do you have any brothers or sisters," he asked, eager to learn more about Zehoret.

Zehoret nodded.

"Oh! That makes sense. I hope he's well." She smiled timidly, then settled to relaxing when Msrah asked about family. She had to think of how to reply for several long moments before speaking.

"Once, a long time ago. I didn't belong... So I left to find my own way." She looked a little quiet. "I was too weak and sickly to learn the duties my old home expected... So... I left."

To cast out or shun someone too weak and sickly sounded cruel to Msrah, but he didn't know her pride or its customs so he refrained from saying anything. She didn't seem too keen to talk more elaborately about the things of her past, and he didn't want to push her. Zehoret often referred to herself as weak, but that was not what he saw in her. He wondered if she had been told that she was weak so many times she believed it to be true.

"I can't imagine leaving my home for the unknown," he said, looking at her with a new respect, "You're a very brave lioness."

"I couldn't... Be useless anymore." Zehoret looked down. "So I was lead here. To a new start, where roles aren't so set and illness so unforgivable." Zehoret closed her eyes, kneading the sand. Hunt or be frowned on.... Hunt or be nothing... It hurt.

Msrah inched closer and placed his head over her back, in a lion equivalent of a hug. He didn't know what to say, so he didn't say anything at all. He had been brought up in a pride that valued family, and he couldn't imagine casting out someone from that community for being weak or sick. The Dawnwalkers did shun some behaviours, but Msrah didn't see it as the same thing.

You couldn't help being sick, but you should be able to avoid mating until you were married. Or even worse: mating with someone that were already married!

"Find a husband, bear cubs, hunt...." Zehoret whispered, hugging back. "...Thank you, Msrah." She smiled a bit to him.

((There's always RPing Msrah seeing Zehoret's new jewelry for a new RP? biggrin ))
