Luis Esteban Salazar-CarriedoThe Timid JuniorThe Argentinean blinked when his older brother came back. He takes the schedules "We really are in the same classes since we're both Juniors." He shook his head "No... Anyway, why did you come back, hermano? We could've gotten our schedules ourselves."{ Translations:} (Out of Buenos Aires: ) Argentine Republic Republica de Argentina

"Well, for one thing, you didn't protest when I left in the first place," he muttered. "I just thought you should have your schedules sooner so that you know what's coming and what you might miss. It's nice of you to keep your promise like this, and I thought I should help you a little with it. And..."
Romero fidgeted uncomfortably, wondering if he should go ahead and tell Luis the other reason why he came back. "I... wanted to ask you some things, hermano."

But to Luis' chagrin, that was exactly what the Venezuelan wanted to know. Now that his brother had at least shown a willingness to listen to him, there was no reason for Romero to dawdle. "Were you really okay with me going to the party lady night?"

Luis Esteban Salazar-CarriedoThe Timid Junior"Hm?" To be honest, Luis Esteban didn't really mind if Romero went to the party. If he knew Juliana was there, he might've went "Of course... Even if I wasn't, why would you care? You're older than me."{ Translations:} (Out of Buenos Aires: ) Argentine Republic Republica de Argentina

"Not that..." Leave it to Luis to answer in such a roundabout way. Romeo decided to ask more directly. "The reason why Franny visited you was because we--well, mostly Juan--told her to go scare you. From what she told me, that wasn't all. What did Franny tell you about the party?"

Romero folded his arms in irritation, unconsciously widening his stance as if gearing for a fight, but his casual lean against the wall indicated that he wasn’t going to fight. Luis was stuttering a little, he noted, and the Argentinian had on the same weak smile he always wore when he didn’t want to say something. “You’re lying,” the Venezuelan said flatly. “Franny told you something that made you mad at me. Am I right?” Franny seemed a rather transparent character, no pun intended, and he felt certain he had Luis nailed, judging from what she'd told him.

Luis Esteban Salazar-CarriedoThe Timid JuniorWhy'd she have to go and tell Romero all that? What he felt was really none of anyone's business. Argen looked away and rubbed his arm "What's she talking about? You know I don't get mad. I have no reason to get mad."{ Translations:} (Out of Buenos Aires: ) Argentine Republic Republica de Argentina

Romero gave him a sideways glance. It was obvious that Luis had some pent-up resentment he didn't want to tell him about--related to that party, no doubt--but it was equally obvious that nothing the Venezuelan said would get him to spill it. Even if he honestly wanted to help his timid brother... Before he could press further, the second period bell blared throughout the dorm hall's recently installed intercom--a system he remembered had been Vice's idea of getting more kids to school on time.
Romero glared at the door momentarily before frowning at the Argentinian. "You're not mad? Prove it. You agreed to leave and go to class if Juliana didn't wake up in time for second period. She drank more tequila than anybody there and ate some concentrated jello shots, so she's probably sleeping off the party. She'll meet you in time for lunch, but you won't be there to meet her if Vice gets ahold of you." In this reminder was a subtle threat and a hint that anything Franny might have said to slander Romero had been due to the drink.
Romero could see that Luis was wavering between the two agreements. "Maybe you could leave a note for her," he added in a helpful manner. "Would Juliana want you to miss class for her sake?"

Luis Esteban Salazar-CarriedoThe Timid JuniorSo Juliana really was drinking last night. Well, Brazilians did like to party. Telling one not to party would be like telling a Frenchman not to philander, it's not possible. he didn't want to be late for class, but he didn't want to break his promise to Juliana. What should he do? "I suppose I should get to class.... But, is it really okay for me to break my promise to her? My boss says it's never good to break promises." Surely she'd understand, right? Luis Esteban opened up his notebook and began to think on what to write on his note.{ Translations:} (Out of Buenos Aires: ) Argentine Republic Republica de Argentina

Romero smiled faintly. He didn't know what he would've expected out of Luis, but at least he feared Vice Principal Germania's very potent punishments over Juliana's disappointment. He hung around long enough to watch Luis withdraw a piece of paper to write a note to her before turning halfway around to leave. "Might be a good idea to slide it halfway under her door and tape it there," he suggested, turning back around again. "That way, she can see it no matter which way she comes from."
Romero wondered if Juliana was still in Juan's room or if she had somehow stumbled back to her own dorm after he'd left.
Out of Caracas: By the same token, you might quote her before leaving?

Luis Esteban Salazar-CarriedoThe Timid JuniorLuis Esteban wrote on the piece of paper. It read: "Dear Juliana, I know I promised that'd we go get to class together, but I don't want to arrive tardy to class. I hope you understand. I heard the Vice Principal is scary, and I don't want to face him. I'll see you in class hopefully. Tu amigo, Argentina." He folded the note, knelt down and slipped it halfway under the door "By the way, why are you suddenly so concerned about me? It really isn't like you." he got up. Was it because he and Romero were roommates?{ Translations:} (Out of Buenos Aires: ) Argentine Republic Republica de Argentina

Romero paused to find Luis was trailing behind him after all. The Argentinian was eyeing him curiously now. "Hermano? Why are you so concerned about me all of a sudden?" he asked.
He hesitated, trying to think of a way to answer Luis that wouldn't arouse suspicion or condescension. It wouldn't do to say that a ghost's words had had the big, bad Venezuela rattled. Besides, Franny's words weren't the only reason behind his unusual altruism. He scratched his head uneasily. "Well... You know how I helped found the UN a while back?" Romero asked. "I'd been mulling over it last summer, and it's a little hypocritical that its founder can't even make peace with his own brothers or neighbors, don't you think? That, and it would be good if you'd be more willing to tell me when something troubles you. I might get angry at you, but I am still your hermano."
"Besides," he added, "it would be buen práctica para tí to open yourself more if you ever happen to like someone. We both have some negative images to break. Let the past be the past, sí?"
