As Jodan landed to his feet, the woman performs a sweep and knocks him on his back before proceeding to mount him and land surgical strikes to his face.
Jodan rolls over and then gets on top of her and starts fighting back.
The woman flips him and gets back to her feet.
Jodan rapidly approaches and the woman strikes him down with a low punch to the gut. Jodan throws a left punch and the woman blocks with and arm grab and an arm twist before striking him with a kick to the back. Once he was down, she prepared for her next strike, which was rudely interrupted by Wulf as he jumped in and stopped her.
Jodan then realizes he's no longer in danger and Wulf's voice then answers, "You owe me…"
"About time you showed up, brother."
"I can't sit by idly anymore and watch you get yourself killed. Only way that'll happen is by my hand, now give me the sword," Wulf said in as calm of a tone he could.
"I didn't think you cared…" Jodan answered in a not-caring type of tone.
Wulf holds his sword up to his brother's neck and repeats the ultimatum, "Hand it over now!"
"If that's the way you feel…" Jodan reaches out halfway, then jerks back, "How do I know this isn't some clever trick, so you can defeat the boss and control the army?"
"Control it? No one can control it, let alone defeat the boss. Emberella told me anyone, who faces Teotl won't have any hope of winning."
"Emberella? That's the best name you could think of? Now I know it's a trick."
"Jodan if you don't GIVE UP THE SWORD, I'll…!"
"You'll what!!!"
Wulf unleashed his rage in the form of an intense fireball, which Jodan batted away with the sword Wulf wished to take from him, "Whoa, such amazing power, brother. But it's gonna convince me to give up my chance at ultimate power." Jodan takes off with Wulf following behind quickly as he can.
"Jodan, get back h…" he was cut off as Jodan shuts the door behind him and locks it. "Jodan, if you face him, you'll die. LISTEN TO ME FOR ONCE!!"
There was no answer on Jodan's end.
With the exit locked, Wulf had to find another way out. He couldn't go back the way Jodan went; he didn't know where it would take him.
Meanwhile, Jodan continues walking, muttering to himself.
Just then, Teotl decided to come out and play as he jumps off the roof above Jodan and lands several yards away.
"There you are…"
Before Jodan could even finish his sentence, Teotl pelts him with energy blasts; the first one knocks down the wall behind him and the second destroys the ground where he stood and sent him plummeting.
Back inside, Wulf looks towards his new exit and wanders towards it.
Teotl turns back around as Wulf exits and mistakes him for Jodan as he shouts something in a bizarre language.
"I'm not Jodan! He has the sword you want, get him!"
"Liar!" he said in a bizarre language, which Wulf had interpreted once the beast resumed firing energy blasts.
Wulf dodges them all while at the same time running down the path Jodan was about to take. The further Wulf got away, the more Teotl followed like a rabid dog from a distance. Teotl destroys the path in front of Wulf, who free-runs along the wall to get over the gap. Teotl continues destroying the walkway while Wulf still manages to overcome any obstacle. Wulf utilizes his dominion over the earth and rebuilds the path in front of him temporarily after Teotl widens the gap with two blasts. After making it across the path behind him crumbles once again.
Teotl delivers yet another blast and Wulf falls down to the level below him where he had no choice but to go the opposite direction; Wulf bounces off the wall to slow his fall, then rolls onto his feet, and keeps going. After running a few yards, Wulf makes it back inside, "Let's hope he can't see through walls…"
After making to the bottom, he faces more dark energy soldiers.
Wulf leaps up and strikes two of the soldiers with a double kick, performs a back flip, attacks right with a precision strike, and then left with another strike, which one of the soldiers blocked while one of the other soldiers pushes him into a couple of vases near the wall.
Wulf gets back up, ducks under the soldier's oncoming attack and delivers a low punch to the stomach and a high punch to the fight.
One of the soldiers grabs him from behind; Wulf flips him over and kicks him into the others before drawing his sword and stabbing the soldier on the left. He then rotates 90 degrees with his sword down at his side, blocks one of the soldier's attacks and strikes with a punch to the jaw. He turns 90 degrees in the opposite direction, kicks the soldier in the shin and delivers a slash to its neck.
One by one, they all fell as Wulf displayed a remarkable show of swordsmanship. Wulf rotates 90 degrees and sticks two soldiers in the stomach as they came at him from his left and right. He races at one soldier as it holds its shield up, bounces off with a flip, lands behind the soldier coming up behind him, and gives him a frontal kick; the soldier abruptly rushes at the other soldier, sticking through its shield and stabbing it in the heart.
With only one left, Wulf made quick work of him and moved on. It wasn't until he made it outside again that he forgot about Teotl and his bombardment of energy blasts, "Not this noise again…" he continues outrunning the bombardment while at the same time firing back after saying, "It's time I stopped being hunted and became the hunter." He would throw small chunks of rock at him while at the same time using some of the rocks to temporarily build a path. When his powers were in need of a recharge, he returned to using his free-running skills.
Heading back inside once again, he is faced with yet another difficult obstacle, which he overcomes in a matter of minutes in order to come face-to-face with Teotl again. Growing tired of their game of Cat and mouse, Teotl takes off with Jodan watching cautiously from down below.
"He's heading to the throne room, now's my chance." Jodan takes off running in the same direction. Half an hour later, he arrives in what appears to be the Astrolabe, "It's official. This planet is extremely primitive. Though I bet Wulf would find it fascinating." After he finished talking to himself, he focused on a way to get across. Timing his jumps carefully, he moves across each panel of the Astrolabe and ascends step by step until reaching the balcony where he had a good view of the throne room, "Get ready for me, Teotl, here I come." He said with an evil smirk. Later on, after he made it to the throne room, he slams the doors open and casually walks inside.
"So you made it after all," the beast said in an unusual tongue.
"Yeh, same to you, pal. I'm here to take your army from you."
"No human can hope to defeat me."
"Back at ya; whatever you said. Now are we gonna dispense with the small talk or are we gonna fight?"
Teotl steps down from the throne and accepts Jodan's challenge.
Jodan strikes high and Teotl blocks quickly; he and Jodan go back and forth like two fencers sparring until Jodan strikes low and Teotl hops over the sword, lands and strikes up high.
Jodan ducks and throws a low punch to the stomach. After pushing him back, Jodan thrusts forward with his sword down at his right and swings forward.
Teotl leans back and swats Jodan's sword aside with his sword.
Jodan unsheathes his other sword and strikes from the left, but Teotl blocks and strikes Jodan across the chest twice.
Jodan falls and scrambles to his feet quickly. He throws a left slash, then a right slash, but Teotl dodges gracefully and strikes back low and hard to Jodan's left side. Jodan spirals with a spinning back fist; Teotl ducks and uppercuts Jodan in the chin.
Jodan spirals into the air and lands on his stomach and turns over while reaching for his sword, but Teotl gets to them first and kicks them out of reach. Jodan gets up, Teotl slashes at him, Jodan ducks and throws a left punch to the kidney, a left punch to the face, and then back flips just as Teotl slashes at him again and rolls over to his sword.
Teotl races after him and slashes, but Jodan quickly turns and blocks.
During the fight, Wulf enters from another part of the throne room and makes his way to where Jodan and Teotl were.
Jodan jumps over Teotl's blade as he strikes, rolls once, then stands, turns and slashes him in the back.
"Hang on, Jodan, I'm coming!" Wulf's voice shouted out of the blue.
"Oh no, not this noise again."
As Wulf got closer, Teotl kicks Jodan into a pillar and causes the ceiling to collapse on top of him.
Wulf jumps in as if he were part of a tag team match and takes over for Jodan.
Teotl speaks in his own little language as he puts his sword and teleports to the upper platform inside the room.
"Ok, I'll play by your rules…" Wulf answered back moments before creating a set of stairs out the floor beneath him and climbing up to Teotl.
At the same time, Teotl fires balls of dark energy hoping to hit him, but Wulf blocks as he edges his way closer.
Once at the top, he and Teotl fight. Wulf throws the first punch, Teotl swats his hand away, grabs for his throat, and raises in him the air, and hits him a punch to the face. After hitting the wall, Wulf gets back into the fight. Teotl reaches for him again, but Wulf ducks and thrusts forward with a palm punch to the stomach. Teotl brings both his hands together and strikes downward like a hammer. Wulf rolls out of the way, gets up and throws a punch to the side. Teotl separates his hands and swings at Wulf, who spirals and hits with a kick to the back. Teotl quickly spirals and pushes Wulf off the platform with his palm.
While Wulf was on his back, Teotl jumps down to his level.
As Teotl approached, Wulf got on his feet.
Teotl kicks him in the shin and drives him down once again with a backhand slap to the face. Teotl approaches and Wulf kicks off with both legs to drive him back before springing onto his feet again.
"You will NEVER command my army!" Teotl shouted in his language.
Suddenly, from out of nowhere, Jodan rapidly approaches and sticks his sword in Teotl's back; Teotl lets out a loud roar as he felt his power leaving him. His entire body glowed a bright yellow like the sun, and in an instant, his life-force transferred into the sword Jodan had used to kill him, "I win… brother."
"What have you done…?" Wulf said with wide eyes.
"What's the matter, Wulf? Mad because I beat you to it? I guess your precious Emberella was wrong about no man can ever hope to defeat him, because I, Jodan Wulf warrior, stand before you a ch…" his sentence was cut off as he saw the sword in his hand suddenly develop a mind of its own. It floats out of his hand and around behind him.
Before Jodan could even turn around, it stuck through his back and came out of his front. The life-force that dwelled within the sword then transferred over to him, shrouding him in bright light as he cried out for help.
"W-w-what's happening to him?" Wulf stuttered to himself as he looked on in helplessness.
Jodan then lowered himself to the ground and took off in a hurry, making a new exit as he fled.
"Jodan wait!" Wulf shouted as he took chase. Just as he got to the newly made doorway, the flames from the torches flew in front of his path and created yet another doorway, already knowing what this means, Wulf said, "Well, let's go see if Emberella can explain what's going on…" he steps through the flames and ends up in the weird, palace-like temple once again.
"You got some explaining to do, Emberella. I thought you said no man could ever hope to defeat Teotl?"
"What I have told you is true."
"Oh really? Well you should try telling that to Jodan, seeing as he brought from the beast to its knees."
"What you saw is not as it seems; Jodan did not defeated Teotl, Teotl killed Jodan. Once Teotl was struck down, his energy passed on to the next available vessel: your brother's."
"How could it have happened?"
"Your brother, Jodan, he's been using the sword to defeat enemy soldiers, correct? The more he killed, the more power transferred into the sword. That power has given Teotl all he needs to start anew; if your brother hadn't used the sword against the army, Teotl would've been imprisoned in the sword once again, but with the aid of the army's life-force, it will only be a matter of time before he regains control."
"Well then I'll just put him down for good and that'll be the end of it."
"Is it really that simple? I thought you would be disappointed to see how this ends."
"You really don't know much about us, do you? We may be brothers, but not by choice. I was created in a lab owned by G-Corp, I was bred to be a super soldier, but I went AWOL and the scientists tried cloning my DNA to make a newer, stronger version of myself. Ever since the fateful day when the lab exploded, Jodan and I have been after each other to prove who's better. Sometimes we put our differences aside for a much higher purpose, but we tend to fight more times than we team up, which makes us both the deadliest of enemies."
"Well then if that's the way you feel, I won't stop you, but be warned, once Teotl regains control, he will be too powerful to defeat with any ordinary sword, so you must work quickly."
"Lady… Quick is my middle name; not really, though. That's just an expression…"
"Before you go… I must give you this…" she touches her hand to his chest and recites another ancient spell to bestow more powers into Wulf himself. "To find your brother this time, you are going to need more time." She said vaguely.
After leaving the domain once again, Wulf finds himself back inside the palace walls, only in a different hallway. He ventures down the hallway until the ground beneath him crumbles and sends him plummeting towards a stone path way angled about 45 degrees. As he slides down this slope, he finds that it is smooth. He continues sliding until he noticed a gap up ahead, a wide gap. With no chunks of rock in sight, he realized then and there he couldn't use his power over the earth to rebuild the path. Reaching the end, Wulf's newly bestowed powers sensed his fear and slowed time all around him, so he could make it over the large gap similar to how the characters in the Matrix could jump over wide gaps between rooftops. Halfway across, Wulf opened his eyes and was shocked to see he was flying. Once across, time sped up again and Wulf began to realize what Emberella meant by more time, but like all his other special abilities, this one needed time to recharge after a certain amount of uses.
Following the path, Wulf comes up on a section of the hallway with several swinging axes moving a much faster rate than usual. After his ability to manipulate time had been fully recharged, he slows down time all around him and passes each axe like normal until coming up on a hole with spikes as he went around the corner. Wulf free-runs along the wall to get to the other side and a small handful of skeleton soldiers appear out of the shadows to confront him.
"And I thought this was gonna be too easy." He leaps into the air, spins and kicks one in the head with a back kick while at the same time hitting one with a front kick. As the two hit the wall and turn into purple dust, Wulf lands and hits another one with a downward slash diagonally.
The final soldier attacks from the side and Wulf trips him with his sword before sticking into its chest.
Wulf continues down his path, free-runs along a wall, bounces towards a pole, swings and grabs onto the ledge on the other side. Coming out of the long hallway, Wulf finds himself on the terrace.
The path that lied in front of him consisted of a wide gap and a pile of stones blocking the path from the other side; Wulf uses his power over the element of earth to make a bridge out of those rocks. He proceeds to cross before his powers begin to weaken and finds himself riddled with the task of scaling a round shaped tower with a switch at the top. After climbing up to it, he stands on the ledge about a couple feet away, stroking his chin. Seconds later, he focuses his attention a big, blue button on the side of the tower a yard and a half above his head. After climbing to it, a platform appears over the edge on the right of the path, which Wulf jumped to. Above that platform was another button, Wulf climbs to it and a metal wall slides down to his level, which he grabbed onto to. The wall slides back up to its current position and Wulf climbs to yet another button, which pushes another platform out of the wall. Wulf followed this pattern all the way to the top of the tower where he finds an odd looking lever. He places his hands on the rod and rotates clockwise; the floor begins to descend like an elevator the more he turns the lever until he ends up going as far as he could go; he finds himself in a round room with one way in an out, which was closed tight.
He gets a running start, dashes towards the door and attempts to kick it down. Three kicks and the door flew off its hinges and fell down as far as it could go without a sound. Wulf then looked over the edge at how far down it was. Swallowing his spit, he realized he could do this, takes a leap of faith, takes his sword and sticks it into the flag on the wall and uses it to slide down. Going down as far it goes, Wulf planted his feet onto the wall, performs a back flip, grabs onto the pole, turns 180 degrees and swings the flag on the opposite wall until reaching the bottom floor. Just seconds before plummeting into a hole full of spikes, Wulf slows down time and back flips over to the ledge where he tries so hard to keep his balance before landing on his back, "That was close," he sighed.
He gets up as soon as hears a voice that sounded almost like Jodan's, except more raspy and demonic as if he were possessed by the devil himself. He follows the sound of his brother's voice into an area filled with lush green grass and different breed of flowers all around.
As he continued walking, Wulf was easily distracted by how beautiful the scenery was that he didn't noticed the skeleton soldiers appear out of the shadows. Soon as he heard their noise, he turned and covered his face with his arms; at the same time he did that, his power over the element of earth kicked in in the form of vines popping out of the ground near him, grabbing each of the soldiers individually and tossing them in different directions; Wulf lowers his arms and a scream occurs off in the distance.
The scream came from Jodan, who was seen fighting off various skeleton warriors. He slashes the first one that comes his way, then shoots a ball of dark energy from his palm to push back the rest; with each one he destroyed, their life force transfers into him, making him stronger, "Yes. Yes! More power!" he shouts in a demonic voice.
"Jodan!!!" Wulf yelled from behind him. "Like I said, only one who's gonna kill you is me."
"Why? Do you really want the army gone? Or do you wish to defeat me and claim the power as your own?"
Before Wulf could even answer, Jodan interrupt.
"You've never wanted me to have anything; to be happy. It was always about you, wasn't it?"
"Listen to yourself; he's affecting your mind already, Jodan. He's turning us against each other."
"No he hasn't. It's all me up in here, brother. Always has been, always will be. And now… I'm going to finish… what 'I' started… from the VERY beginning!" with that being said, he rushed as Wulf with anger in his eyes.
Wulf restrains him with several vines wrapped around his arms, but Jodan manages to break free and strikes Wulf with a devastating punch to the jaw.
"If that's the way you want to play it, then just remember… YOU BROUGHT THIS ON YOURSELF!" Wulf tackles him to the ground and proceeds to punch him repeatedly in the face.
Jodan throws him off of him, stands and races at him.
Wulf stands and blocks Jodan's first attack before hitting back with a kick to the side.
Jodan grabs his foot and spins him into a wall and then rushes at him with his sword in hand.
Wulf draws his sword and blocks, then draws back and attacks low.
Jodan blocks and attacks high.
Wulf ducks and hits with a palm thrust to the stomach.
Jodan approaches again with a slash from the right.
Wulf ducks and strikes upward diagonally.
Jodan sidesteps and thrusts forward with his sword pointing straight ahead of him.
Wulf sidesteps and trips him before holding his sword to the back of his neck to prevent him from getting up.
Jodan's entire body glowed bright yellow as he shoots an enormous energy ball, which caused him and Wulf to fly backwards. Wulf landed on his back while Jodan floated in mid-air like a god. Soon after, Jodan's clothes and appearance began to change, an orangish-brown helmet with curvy horns materialized over his head as matching armor began to cover him from the neck down, his long, red scarf was replaced by a shorter, browner cape, his Katana grew and changed from a silver blade to a black one, his boot grew pointy horn-like shapes on the toes like rhino horns only smaller. After the transformation, Jodan's new form descended and turned to Wulf.
"Jodan?" Wulf asked.
The one, who he knew as Jodan answered back in a bizarre tongue similar to Teotl's before throwing every ounce of his energy at him.
"Oh s**t…" Wulf said with wide eyes before running. Once the attacks ceased, Wulf turned and went back to fight.
Teotl throws strikes left and right without stopping and Wulf dodges them all until he got the chance to attack back.
After throwing his first counter attack, his sword broke against Teotl's armor as if it were made of cheap material.
Teotl throws more slashes, which Wulf ducked and dodged before throwing back punches. A couple of them did some damage before Wulf throw a high punch to the side of the head; Teotl turns his head the opposite direction as Wulf threw his punch, then turned back signaling Wulf that his attacks weren't working; Wulf throws another punch and Teotl lifts him high in the air as he prepares to perform a Suplex.
Wulf gets to his feet as Teotl approaches and uses his earth-bending skills to restrain Teotl with vines while pelting him with pieces of the palace walls, which seemed to be doing damage through Wulf's eyes until Teotl cuts the vines.
"Time for me to run away now." but Teotl wasn't finished, he grabs Wulf by his scarf; Wulf turns, wraps his arm around his own scarf, pulls himself up to Teotl and hits him with a fireball to the chest before running away. He makes it as far away as possible and slides down a sloped piece of concrete pathway, creates a path using his dominion over fire and slides across to the other side, where he finds another door made of fire, which meant another opportunity to visit Emberella and see what she has to say.
"His army is giving him the power he needs to change your brother completely. With every soldier defeated, their life force transfers into him and the excess… is filtered into the air; have you not noticed the sky's getting darker?"
"No, I was too busy getting my a** kicked to love up."
"The reason you're so easily beaten is because you still have feelings for your brother after what you told me earlier about you both. If you are to truly defeat him, you need to stop hesitating."
"I know… can you tell me what your backup plan is, so we can get this thing over with before I change my mind?"
"The entrance to the temple is on the other side of the city. You will never make it in time on foot before the dark energy storm grows fierce and Teotl gains more power, so I'll do whatever I can to get you close enough to it; inside is a type of sword, which can weaken Teotl in his new form and even destroy him for good."
"Well go ahead, do what you have to…"
"But first, I must give you this…" she places her hand on his chest and casts yet another spell. "The temple is bound to be in ruins after centuries of neglect; I have just given you my memories of it from its former glory. I will also be there to join you shortly" She then brings her hands together and casts another spell for a portal to get him as close as she can get him to the entrance. Wulf was then transported through one of the torches and ends up on the other side of the city near a mysterious symbol for fire, which shook and then lowered a few feet or more, revealing a doorway about the same height as Wulf and wide enough for two people to enter at the same time. Wulf enters, walks a few yards and instantly slides down towards a bright light and into a huge room with three different statues sitting on a platform opposite of the platform with a weird looking statue, which had a mirror reflecting the light from outside into the room and all the way over to the three statues.
It was Wulf's job to refract the light towards the hole in the wall on his left; he stands there for a few moments before getting to it and causing another door to open. Once he approached it, bats started flying out as if something had spooked them; Wulf drew his sword, the only one he had left after his encounter with the newly resurrected Teotl, and cuts them all down one-by-one as they flew at him.
Once he steps through to the other side, the torches on both sides light up; the one on his right burns bright and hotter as Emberella uses it to gain entrance.
"I have given you my memories of this place, use them."
"How do I do that exactly?"
"Look with your heart, not with your eyes and you will see paths in front of you that weren't there before."
Wulf closes his eyes and something surges through his mind as if he were strapped in a chair, receiving knowledge like a computer downloading a file instantly. With his eyes still closed, he could see the path in front of him with the missing areas fixed like brand new.
"Anything that shows up as red is still an existing path."
"How am I doing this?"
"When I gave you my memories, I gave you the ability to convince your mind to believe there's something there even when there isn't. In other words, your body believes what your mind is telling it because your heart is making your mind believe it."
"This doesn't seem possible."
"Well it is, now stay focused or you'll die."
Wulf makes to the ledge and free-runs along the wall to make it to the other side. On the next ledge, he free-runs, jumps to the other wall, free-runs and jumps to the other ledge. Once he pulled himself up, skeleton soldiers were there waiting. Wulf opens his eyes, draws his sword and confronts them; he lands a double leg dropkick on the first one, lands, rolls over to his right and throws his sword into the chest of one of the soldiers and reducing him to nothing but dark matter before retrieving his sword, getting to his feet and blocking an oncoming attack from his left. As he turns to his right, he then ducks after a soldier thrusts towards him and causes him to stab his own man; Wulf then rotates and hits him with a back fist to the chest before rotating again and slicing the soldier's head off. He then lands, turns 45 degrees, delivers a kick to the soldier's shin, and delivers a slash to the chest.
Another soldier approaches Wulf, who knocks him down with a back flip kick and kills him with a stab to the heart.
The final soldiers attacks from behind, but Wulf shuts him down with a stab to the chest from under his armpit.
After the fight, Emberella enters the room through the torch in the corner of the wall down below, "Wulf. Down here," she beckoned.
Wulf races to the ledge, "How do you expect me to get down there to you, there's no stairs?"
"Close your eyes," she commanded.
Wulf follows her command and sees a flight of stairs highlighted inside of his head in light blue and uses them to make his way down.
"What you see before you is the city of Zenda, once the home of the Djinn, the mightiest of elementals; beyond that wall, is the temple, I'll meet you there."
Wulf then uses his power of the earth to move the rocks that were in his way and advance further into the city, but as he closes his eyes and uses his newest power, he finds there is no invisible path for him to walk across, only a flag on the far side of the wall, which stretched all the way to a floor. He uses the wall once again to make it to that flag and slides down it using his sword.
"These statues are of the six corners of the earth; the elements, which give life to most livable planets in the universe: Air, Lightning fire, earth, water, and darkness. We watch over everything, helping to keep everything spinning. Unlike all Sentient Beings, we can never die; our vessels may die, but we ourselves pass on to the elements we have power over."
"Is that who I think it is?" Wulf asked, staring at a statue, which looked to represent Teotl.
"Just as we had our part, Teotl had his; with a bit of help, the guardian over lightning and I were responsible for the cavemen of your world discovering fire; one spark to light the way for your people. The guardian of the water helped make your planet inhabitable by providing water to cool down the molten rock and bring life. The others helped in their own ways, while Teotl hindered; he is the cause for your people's hearts being filled with greed, hate, fear; all the things that have poisoned your minds. Because of him, all your kind created has been made to destroy. We tried to stop him, but it was already too late. Once we do something, it cannot be undone."
"Well there must be something you can do."
"We provide the tools to the workers… and it is out of our hands."
"So if I obtain this special sword and kill Teotl, what will happen to him?"
"Same that will happen if I was to die, he will pass over to his own element; his vessel may be gone from this universe, but his spirit will live on."
"So even if I still win, I lose… is that what you're saying?"
"If you let him live, he will expand his power, causing your people's hearts to be consumed so much hate to point where they will become extinct."
"Trust me, the rate things are going nowadays, we'll become extinct without his help."
"That may be, but you still possess the means to change your ways before it is too late." Emberella's voice as well as her body began to fade from existence.
"Emberella? What's happening?"
Once she completely disappeared, an army of dark soldiers appeared.
"You guys again…?" Wulf said with a sarcastic tone just before the army fused into one giant Golem looking beast towering over him about half the size of the statues of the elementals.
"Bigger they are, harder they fall; a wise man once said…" Wulf draws his sword.
The beast drags its sword behind it as it approaches, then uses all its strength to pull the sword over its head.
Seconds before the sword dropped, Wulf rolls out of the way, rushes up while dodging the beasts slashes; the beast slashes from the right, but Wulf cartwheels over it; the beast slashes back to the left and Wulf ducks while cutting in the left leg.
The beast retaliates by trying to squish Wulf with his fist, but Wulf back flips just in time and the beast hurts its hand upon impact.
Wulf comes between the monster's arm and its body, climbs up using the technique Parkour, and delivers a punch right to the face.
Wulf drops to the ground on his feet and rolls out of the way as the beast stomps its right foot over where Wulf once stood. As it began to swing its sword once again, Wulf ducks, turns, and blocks as the sword comes back at him; the force it created knocked into a wall. He takes his back off the wall and looks up before looking back at the monster, then turns, walks up the wall and lands a back flip onto its head before performing another back flip, jamming his sword in its back and sliding down.
The beast lets out a roar and thrashes about violently as the blade digs in deeper and deeper upon its descent. He backs into a wall just as Wulf jumps off and literally falls to pieces like a statue being tipped over. The pieces turned into purple mist and thinned out in the air.
As the enemy vanished, Emberella reappeared, "Sorry I cannot be of much help; it seems as if the army's power interferes with my own."
"No problem at all. I've been used to working alone. It's how I've managed to stay alive all this time."
"Then let us move on before things turn for the worse." Emberella takes the lead.
"I agree," Wulf replied.
As they press on, Teotl (in Jodan's body) proceeds to get stronger by killing more of his own men and absorbing their energy. As he carries on, the skies get darker and darker with the army's aura.
"Soon I will have all the power I need to complete my plans." He said to himself in his language
"What about this Wulf ninja warrior?" an invisible voice asked.
"My warriors will take care of him. He will not reach the temple in time."
"But he's too strong, sire."
"Doesn't matter; the goal is only to stall him. Once I'm strong enough, not even he will be able to defeat me."
Back inside the city of Zenda, Wulf enters the throne room and finds a way to get into the secret passage under the seat. Once the throne was moved out of the way, Wulf descended on the platform. A 3 quarter of the way down, the platform beneath him starts to crumble. Wulf closes his eyes and a transparent path in light blue continues to hold him up as he descends slowly. Looking around, Wulf sees only one way to go and he takes to it. He jumps to the other side using the wall, turns the corner and climbs up to a ledge, which he used to cross a huge gap with no end at the bottom. Reaching the other side, he climbs up further and jumps back and forth from wall to wall until climbing up on the ledge, running towards another gap and using his power over time to make the jump like in the Matrix.
Emberella then appears, "On the other side of that door is a sanctuary. Only the Elementals possess the power to open it."
"Well it's a good thing you're still around."
She channels her powers into the two torches on both sides while chanting some mysterious language. As she did, the door slowly ascended.
Once the door was opened all the way, Wulf had this to say as a response, "Haven't your people ever thought about making keys instead of using spells? What if you forgot it?" he asked as they both entered and caused the door to close behind them.
Hours and hours of climbing later, Wulf finds himself standing in front of the entrance to the vault.
"Time is of the essence; the sword you seek is inside that vault. It's been so long, so I do not know how to gain entrance. You'll have to figure it out yourself."
"This should be fun," he answered sarcastically. Examining the vault a bit closer has brought Wulf to this conclusion, "Seems all you have to do is channel whatever element you possess dominion over into this round circle; it takes five different elements judging by the fact that there's 5 smaller holes on this circle. Afterwards, it's like a tumbler on a safe, except it'll turn automatically. Seems to be the other elementals have channeled their powers into it already."
"Maybe they knew we were coming… long before sealing Teotl away the first time." Emberella replied.
"Well which one of us should do it?"
"You are the one, who seeks the sword, so you must do it."
Place his hand in front of the circle, a roaring flame exited his palm and entered the empty space with the symbol for fire. The holes on the circle began rotating as the big circle rotated as well like the tumbler of a safe while the vault door slowly rose.
In the middle of the room stood a huge flame similar to a bonfire with a red handle sticking out the top, which Wulf assumed to be what he was looking for.
"I assume you're behind this…"
"The sword of my design made specifically for the task at hand. In order to stop Teotl for good, it will require the magic of another elemental."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Bring the sword back to where we first met and I will show you…" she answered vaguely before vanishing like a ghost.
"How am I supposed to do that without barbecuing my hand?"
"Just feel the fire within…" her voice answered vaguely once again.
Slowly reaching for it, Wulf noticed the flames weren't hot to the touch. It was as if his elemental powers were protecting him from the intense heat. After holding it in his hands for a few minutes, he made his way back the way he came until coming across another fire door, which meant Emberella was waiting.
"You have the sword, good for you. I don't think we should hesitate any longer."
"I don't see what's so special about this piece of metal? It looks as ordinary as my own sword."
"With my powers, it will no longer be so ordinary. Hand it over."
Wulf gives it to her and she begins to work her magic.
"As I have already said, the only way to undo what one elemental has done requires the magic of another." She begins casting a spell and both she and the flames in the bowl behind her get sucked into the blade. Once done, the sword shoots back into Wulf's hands.
"Time is short and we need to get topside immediately."
"Who said that?"
"In your hands, Wulf," Emberella's voice answered.
"How do you propose we get there?"
"The bowl has a limited use, but it can provide a quick transport to the surface. I won't know where the flames will lead us, but it's a chance we're willing to take."
Both he and Emberella travel through the flames and return to the palace where things didn't seem so bright anymore, literally; the light shining through the windows was gone and in its place was dark purple clouds filling the sky with a roaring wind as fast as that of Hurricane Katrina.
"I don't like how all this is turning out."
"Teotl is getting stronger, we must find him and quickly."
"Don't have to tell me twice." He follows the path outside to where he finds the entire floor filled with Dark energy soldiers. "Time to break this bad boy in…" with that, he unsheathes the sword cuts through the army like a patch of grass on his way up the spiraling staircase and into the room at the top of the tower.
As soon as he stepped through, Teotl stepped out and struck him in the back. As Wulf fall face forward, Teotl muttered something in his language.
Emberella then answers back just moments before Teotl attacked.
Wulf blocks with a chunk of form from the walls, gets to his feet, slices at Teotl's knees, and throws a punch to the face.
On the next attack, Teotl grabs Wulf's foot and flips him.
Wulf quickly gets to his feet and fights back.
Teotl attacks high, Wulf attacks low, getting in the stomach before attacking high. Teotl blocks and hits Wulf in the chest with an energy blast, "The human race will be extinct in a 1000 years; I'm only trying to speed up what I have done in the first place."
"It is not for you to decide who lives and die," Emberella answered back as Wulf got back up.
"Why do you insist on defending such a primitive species, who was built with a hole in their hearts since their creation!" Teotl said in his language, raising his voice on the last syllable in the last word of his sentence.
"Because I have seen what they can do." She answered, as Wulf kept fighting.
Teotl attacks from the left, Wulf ducks and counters, Teotl sidesteps to the right, sidesteps to the left and comes back with an elbow strike, Wulf lands on his back and bounces back to his feet. Teotl strikes from the right, Wulf slides under the blade and elbows him in the back of the head. Teotl reacts to the hit before turning with a back fist.
Wulf blocks and counters with an overhead strike, Teotl ducks and Wulf throws another strike, Teotl ducks again and performs a sweep with his left arm. Wulf back flips and Teotl thrusts forward. Wulf stops his attack with a spinning heel kick to the back of the blade, spirals and faces Teotl as he places his blade to his chest and pushes him back into a wall.
Teotl swats Wulf's blade away with his own and continues throwing slashes While Wulf blocked them all and hits with a slash to the chest. Teotl steps back and feels his chest before throwing a ball of energy at Wulf from the palm of his hand.
Wulf forward rolls under it and throws back a fireball, which Teotl knocks to the side with his sword.
Wulf leaps at Teotl with his sword pointed straight at him. Seconds before Wulf landed in front of him, Teotl sidestepped, and judo chops Wulf in the chest before going for Wulf's neck.
Wulf pulls his sword in the way and blocks before throwing a right punch to the face, which Teotl blocked before performing an arm twist and launching Wulf into a pillar.
As Teotl approached, Wulf pushes away from the wall, elbows him in the jaw, races towards the wall and performs a wall-kick to the jaw.
"If you hadn't tried to play your part in their creation, we wouldn't be having this discussion," Emberella said.
"What are you saying?" Wulf asked.
Emberella didn't answer.
Teotl delivered one final blast, which knocked Wulf through the wall and outside in the dark, where a dark storm suddenly took place.
The mist slowly surged through Teotl's body as he grew larger and larger until he was nearly as big as the palace itself.
Wulf looked up at a huge hand towering over him, ready to sweep him aside like a pile of leaves and reacted quickly to get out of its way.
The hand misses and takes out a tower with one swipe and sends the debris crashing down over Wulf's position.
Wulf jumped and rolled to get out of the way while avoiding the huge hands of his enemy until he couldn't any longer.
Teotl sweeps Wulf up into the air and Wulf jumps off just in time and lands onto the roof of some building.
Teotl quickly strikes with his sword, misses Wulf and cuts down the middle of the roof; chunks of rock then flew off in different direction.
Wulf slows down time and uses the debris as a direct path to Teotl's face where he slashes diagonally before descending. After landing, Wulf is then on the move once again when Teotl cuts the top of the building Wulf was standing on and sends it and Wulf falling all the way to the ground floor.
Once Wulf landed on his feet, Teotl swipes at him, but Wulf then front flips over his hand, slicing into one of his fingers before landing.
"We need to get back to higher ground," Emberella explained.
Once Teotl swept across the ground once again, Wulf performs a wall kick, hops onto Teotl's hand and rides it all the way to the top of one of the roofs. Once up there, he jumps off onto solid ground and immediately rolls as Teotl tries to hit him with his sword.
Wulf gets to his feet and uses his power of the earth to hurl rocks at Teotl's huge palms.
Teotl then claps his hands together in attempt to squish Wulf, who then lifted himself in the air with a chunk of the roof beneath his feet.
After pulling his hands apart, more dark energy soldiers appear out of nowhere ready to fight.
Wulf takes them all down one at a time while evading Teotl's combination of swipes and slashes, which helped take out several soldiers at one time.
The third to last soldier, Wulf throws a couple punches before spinning and throwing the soldier at Teotl's face as if it were a shot-put.
"Emberella?!" Wulf yelled over the loud winds and the beast's roaring, "Does this thing have a weak spot?"
"Currently, everywhere on his body is a weak spot, but I'll let you know when something occurs!"
The last soldier, Wulf tosses him at Teotl's chest and reveals a vulnerable area. Going on instinct, Wulf then begins to lure him closer so he can attack that spot.
Teotl draws back as his eyes begin to glow bright red.
Taking this a bad sign, Wulf begins to maneuver on the rooftop while Teotl kept his eyes on him.
Once he had a lock on him, Teotl begins firing energy beams from his eyes, trying to hit Wulf. On the 11th attempt, he ends up blasting Wulf off one roof and onto another.
While in mid-air, Wulf rolls over and chucks a small rock at Teotl while he charged up to fire another beam and the beam backfires, temporarily distorting him until Wulf got on his feet.
Hours of fighting later, Wulf leaps at Teotl, and lands one well-placed strike to his chest, which returned him to normal size. A few more minutes of fighting, and Wulf then stabs through Teotl's heart, "About time I got to the heart of the matter, don't you?" Wulf said in a low voice before taking the sword out.
Teotl begins glowing as he convulses violently and shouts something in his own language, which caused Emberella to answer back.
Teotl begins to explode like a mini-supernova, taking the dark clouds along with him and brightening the skies once again.
As the palace guards were released from the army's hold, I emerge from the rubble to find Jodan lying in the sand looking cold and lifeless. As I held him in my arms, he began to wake. In a hushed tone, he asks me to come closer.
"I should've… listened to you and left the damn thing alone. Maybe then I would've had a chance, but you know me…"
"Yeah, always on a constant quest for power," Wulf finished.
"Teotl wanted me to give you this message…" Jodan coughs before getting the words together, "The world is changing… not for the good, but for the worst. I felt it was my duty to bring about the inevitable instead of… (coughs) delaying it any further."
"But it's not his choice to play God."
"I know, your precious Emberella said that." Jodan coughs.
"Just hang in there, brother."
"I can't, it's too late for me and you know it."
Within an instant, Jodan was dead. I held him a little while longer before searching the rubble for any signs of Emberella; I found the sword, but no Emberella. After calling her name several times, it was apparent she was gone. I remember what she told me about Elementals, their spirits pass on into the element they have power over, while their vessel just simply disappears from the earth. With that being said, I find my flame swords stuck in the sand with the handle visible; they felt warm to the touch as if possessed by a divine spirit. As for Emberella's sword, I returned to the city in which it was found and placed it inside the vault. I felt that was where it belonged; with Emberella and Jodan both gone, their deaths opened a new chapter of my life filled with blank pages, which I intended on filling.
I return to Gaia an unknown hero seeing as no one on this rock had no idea of the adventure I had gone through.
What does life have in store for me up ahead? Well… I'll just have to wait and see, won't I?"

the end? HA! what do you take me for...

here's a less action-packed version; sorta sweatdrop

Adventures in another world 5 (revised)

“Have you any idea what you’ve done?” a furious female voice filled the room around Wulf like he were listening to surround-sound on a home entertainment system, making Wulf draw his weapon in defense.
“I don’t know what you are talking about, but I’ll give you ten seconds to show yourself…”
“Or you’ll what? You think you can just barge in here and presume to give me orders?” she answered back.
“Believe me, I’ll do a lot more than give orders; don’t you know who I am?”
“Perhaps a little enlightenment is in order.”
“I am Wulf Ninja warrior of a planet called Gaia. I came here looking for my brother, because I received word he was looking for a source of unlimited power,” Wulf explained.
Hours before this point in time, Wulf arrived by horse following a large trail of smoke in the sky as the sun was setting. As he reached the end of the mountain pass, he races down towards the scene of a full-scale war between a neighboring kingdom, soon recognized to be the army his brother, Jodan Wulf Warrior, assumed command of back on Zelos Prime, and the soldiers sworn to guard the secret the place held.
Wulf left his horse behind after noticed he couldn’t go further and uses his knowledge of Parkour to make his way down.
Meanwhile, the army down low did what they could to fend off Jodan’s army, but for every one they killed, Jodan’s men took two in their place.
“Ready the cannon!” one of Jodan’s generals gave the other. A giant, rectangular figure was rolled into view and immediately acquired a target; a large, spade shaped tower on the southeast of the kingdom where Wulf was seen coming in from. The four holes in the front of the cannon secreted a purple light, which took on the form of a large ball in the center of the circles and grew bigger.
“Beam’s at 70% and rising, sir.”
“Wait for my mark.”
The weapon reached 80% in seconds, then 90, then 100%.
“FIRE!” the general barked.
The light quickly shot from the cannon and tore through the tower seconds after impact.
Wulf was standing directly at the top when it started to topple. He quickly wrapped his scarf around and attempted to keep his balance as the structure quickly made its way to the ground floor. In an instant, he jumped from it to a flagpole, swung around, aimed for a wall, stuck his sword in and slid down like a pirate cutting a hole in the sail. With firm, stable ground now beneath his feet, Wulf stood up and brushed himself off, only to find he cut right arm. “Doesn’t look too bad,” he rips a piece of his scarf to tie around the wound and keeps moving. “Just once, I’d like to walk into a room without being shot at, is that too much to ask?” he continues down the pathway despite the gunfire coming from below, but just as he makes it halfway, his path gets cut off. He gets a running start and jumps across.
In the doorway up ahead, he witnesses a few soldiers getting shot up by some of Jodan’s men. Once they were down, the enemy took notice to Wulf coming their way.
Wulf draws his sword.
“He’s attacking alone with just a sword? He’s mental…” one soldier whispered to the other.
“Alright, don’t move!”
“Drop your weapon and surrender, maybe we’ll go easy on ya.”
Wulf continues forward, not paying attention to what they say.
“Last warning, then we’ll open fire!”
Wulf puts a smile on his face and he moves closer.
The men open fire on Wulf, only to have him block every single one of their shots with just his sword alone. They emptied most of their ammo before stopping, “Who the ******** is this guy?”
Wulf slices through the barrel of the weapon and stabs the guy in the stomach before saying, “Your executioner…”
The others drew their swords and decided to beat Wulf at his own game, but he slashed through them all without them even knowing what hit them.
“This is what I plan to do to Jodan when I see’em…” Wulf said just before the eyes of his final opponent rolled back into his head. after pulling his sword out of his enemy’s stomach, Wulf looked for another way out of this room and quickly found one. But as soon as he got up to higher ground, he was stopped by a couple of the soldiers guarding the walls of the palace.
“Stop right there!” one of them ordered.
Wulf raises his hands as he looks to his left.
The soldiers looked in the direction he did and got struck down by a huge ball of purple light; Wulf jumped backwards. Once he got to his feet again, he finds his path his cut off again. Wulf free-runs along the wall to make it to the other side and encounters more enemy soldiers.
“You’re a long way from home…” one of them said as he and the others drew their weapons.
“What can I say? I love to travel.” Wulf slowly draws his sword as he waits for his enemy to make the first move; they open fire, Wulf blocks their shots and quickly picks up a gun from a fallen enemy to return fire with. After using up all the rounds, he switches to his sword for the final three before moving on. As he moves along the path, more cannon-fire destroys the ground beneath him, forcing him to use Parkour to get around. Once he reaches a wall, he realizes there’s nowhere else to go but up, but it soon dawned on him that maybe climbing up there was a bad idea as he is soon pelted with laser fire, same kind his enemies are using.
In making it around to another walkway, Wulf looks down to see a small spacecraft, a shuttle to be exact, hovering in close to where he going, “Oh man, this is just not my day!”
The door on the side of the shuttle opens and out pops a bunch of soldiers with huge metal shields covering their body.
In another part of the castle.
“Sir? We got a problem. Your brother is here.”
“I knew he’d catch up to me one day. Look, just throw everyone you can at him; I’m almost inside and I… DON’T… want him interfering, you got that?!”
“Understood, sir.”
Jodan hangs up on the general, “All the money I spent to make him disappear forever and he’s STILL here?! How did he make it back, he’s supposed to be in another universe! And for anyone who’s thinking about stating the obvious, lemme give you a preview of what I do to those that piss me off.” Jodan presses his palm to one of his soldiers’ chest and squeezes tighter around his heart. As he does, a dark aura consumes him like that of the one consuming Neo in the Matrix 2. Once it took over his body completely, he was then absorbed into Jodan’s body through his palm. “I want… access to that vault and I want it in the next hour or less!”
Meanwhile, back to Wulf
“I’m through messing around, where is he?”
“Where’s who?”
Wulf loosens his grip to get the guy’s attention, “Don’t mess with me, I don’t have the patience for games! Now where… is… my brother?!” “Tell me something, because where you live or die isn’t my concern.
“I don’t know, they don’t tell us nothing; we’re just the muscle!”
“Then I have no further use for you…” he lets go of the guy’s arm; he screams the whole way down, but Wulf just blocks it out.
He heads through the archway and along the wall until finding a way down to the bottom. After that, he comes across a switch in the middle of the room and steps on it, causing a secret door to open on the opposite side. He races towards it and slides under before it closes again, but gets his scarf caught. He jerks it and jerks it until pulling it loose.
“Sir, we’ve encountered heavy resistance the further we get to the vault, I think we should…”
“I have no tolerance for excuses nor do I for failure is that understood?” Jodan’s voice said in a stern tone. “Do whatever to ensure victory.”
“Jodan…” Wulf whispered to himself. He follows the sound of his voice until coming up on him being accompanied by a few of his top generals and a small handful of soldiers. “Been so many years and I finally found you,” Wulf said to himself as he watched his brother’s every move to see where he was going.
“Once we obtain the secret this place holds, we will no longer need to worry about replenishing our ranks; we’ll be invincible. We can take on the whole universe and no one will oppose us.”
“I’ve got to find a way in closer without getting spotted; if I attack now, he’ll see me coming from a mile away,” Wulf thought to himself.
There was a sound; pieces of rubble broke off from a part of the wall Wulf was standing on. Jodan looked up to where Wulf was and saw no one.
“What is it, sir?”
“We’re not alone…” he muttered. “Quickly, we must get into the vault before he has a chance to stop us.”
“We’re doing the best we can, sir.”
“Then do better; and get me someone well-built, who can handle our little… pest problem; none of those handpicked monkeys we got doing their King Kong act out in the courtyards.”
“Yes sir…”
“Great, now he knows I’m here,” Wulf said in his mind. He then looks for another way around, while Jodan stayed below; he and his men cutting down anyone, who got in their way as they made their way through the gates and sealed them behind them.
“I brawled, scrapped, and fought my way through room after room until I came upon the vault; Jodan was already inside alone. I then realized it was a trap when I got tackled off of the second floor of the room and down to my brother’s level by a big, hulking brute of a soldier. I fought and fought, but he proved to be quite a challenge and by the time I finished with him, Jodan just stood there and applauded me.”
Jodan’s men readied their guns as they came out from the shadows of the vault.
“It’s a shame we had to part ways back on Zelos Prime; you’d have made a great ally.”
“I’ll never ally myself with you.”
“You would have converted eventually; most do.”
“It’s because they don’t have the strong will to stand up to you; I, on the other hand, do.”
“Listen to yourself. You could be a god; instead you wish to remain mortal, to remain human. You will NEVER be one of them! I’ll give you… one last chance. Join me or join the many around you, who chose to stand in the way of progress.”
“Progress? This power was sealed away for a reason, Jodan.”
“And that reason being fear; what mankind doesn’t understand they either destroy or find a way to imprison it.”
“You gave me an ultimatum, now I’m giving you one. Stop this foolish campaign or I will end it right here, right now.”
“You haven’t been able to end it since the first time we met face to face on that forest planet. What makes you think this time will be different? You’ve always come so close to killing me only to let the opportunity slip through your grasp. Even if you succeed today, what will you do with me gone?”
Wulf remained silent.
“No answer? Just as I thought; keep him contained, boys, I’ve got a destiny to fulfill…”
“I fight the small army surrounding him, but I efforts proved futile as Jodan already placed the amulet into the seal and did what could not be undone once started. A dark aura flowed from the seal like sand and as it hit the floor, the soldiers who remained on their feet crouched down to pick it up.”
“This is what we’ve been searching for, sir, a pile of purple sa…” he was then cut off by a skeleton hand reaching out of the dark energy and grabbing hold of his wrist. The soldier screamed as the enveloped his arm and soon his whole body.
Wulf, who watched it happen, soon jumped out of the way and over to his twin brother as the medallion split in half long ways; they each took a half.
The entire palace soon shook as if an earthquake was happening. Wulf and Jodan took that as their cue to make their grand exit. Wulf chased after his brother until he got cut off by a large chunk of the ceiling.
“Later, brother!” Jodan shouted happily as he retreated.
“Damnit!” Wulf shouted back as he smacked the debris with his palm. “There’s got to be another way out…” as he looked around, he soon found one as well as something else; a monstrous shape unlike the skeleton warrior with skin as red as the devil himself and a mustache/beard combo as well as the horns to match. He let out a roar as loud as the Incredible Hulk as he crawled up out of the floor like the others.
Wulf didn’t stick around to greet him; he fled the scene, using his Parkour skills to get around as the path in front of him crumbled.
After a few more corners, Wulf’s path was then blocked by a wall of fire, “What the hell is this?” he asked. He unsheathes his sword and tries to poke it through, but to the tip of his blade, it felt like solid rock. He looks to his left and pokes his sword through, as he does, the wall of fire thins itself out and reveals a room on the other side. He pulls his blade out of the flames and foolishly touches it, “Not hot; that’s weird.” He touches the flame with his hand and it felt like water to him. He puts more of his hand inside before deciding to walk straight through.
“And that is how I ended up here. By the way, where is ‘here’ exactly?”
A Caucasian girl with strawberry blonde hair, about 17 years of age steps through the mirror in front of him and walks right up to him.
“You’re the one Jodan killed to get the medallion. How are you still alive?”
“I am Soleonara, queen of the Ifrit, igniter of flames, and guardian the kingdom your brother saw fit to invade. I helped to seal that army away and he has undone all of the hard work my people and I have put into this action.”
“That had to have been several hundred years ago, and you don’t look a day over 18.”
“It may appear that way on the outside, but I assure you I am older than I look, wolf-man. We Djinn are not so short-lived as humans and many other species; we do not forget things of vital importance and can choose any form we see fit.”
“And yet, you chose this form; good luck getting people to believe you come time for voting on Election Day.”
“Silence!”
“Okay, okay. Can’t you take a joke?”
“With all that your brother has been up to and you think now is the time to play court jester? If what he unleashed gets strong enough, the entire universe is doomed.”
“What do you expect me to do? I’m just a simple mercenary, not a superhero.”
“If you still possess your half of the amulet, there is still hope; once you reunite it with the other half, you can recreate the prison and we can all act as if this whole situation never happened.”
“The other half? My brother has it.”
“Then you must locate him quickly; the army is growing stronger by the minute. I will assist you in any way I can.” She touches Wulf’s heart and recites an incantation in some bizarre language.
“What are you doing?”
“The power I just gave you should tip the odds in your favor when you encounter the army. You will become faster than normal, but only for a short while; so use it sparingly.”
“Oh.”
“And one other thing, if you see the one known as Teotl, you mustn’t fight him; no matter how much power you possess, you cannot hope to defeat him.”
“I’ll keep that in mind, thanks.”
Soleonara disappears back into her mirror and leaves Wulf to carry out his mission. After leaving the sanctuary, Wulf heads further down the pathway; the ground beneath him starts to give away. Before it completely sank to the bottom, Wulf quickly reached for the ledge; as he did, red flames surrounded the chunk of the building, which caused time down for him. He uses this opportunity to jump up and grab the ledge. After making it, the ground he once stood on sped up and fell several yards.
“Whoa, I don’t know what just happened, but I like it; are these the powers of the Djinn?” the rest of the way, Wulf was very cautious with his steps as he traversed the long hallway to the stables. “It seems a bit too quiet in my personal opinion,” he said to himself just before drawing his sword and cautiously looking around. He heard a rustling sound in one of the stalls and proceeds to investigate. At first, he finds nothing, but a few seconds later, he receives a tap on the shoulder by a bony finger. He turns just as a black skeleton warrior attacks with his sword; Wulf rolls under the blade and stands up behind him.
Several seconds later, more skeleton warriors show up and Wulf finds himself in the middle of a fight.
“I knew it was too quiet,” Wulf muttered. He stabs the one behind him in the back where the heart should be and the monster turns into purple vapor. Wulf then turns his attention to the ones in front. He fights them the best he could, but there was too many of them. Wulf then relies on his new power given to him by Soleonara to slow down time. He finishes off the rest of them in an instant before turning his attention back to his previous predicament: finding a way out.
The door on the far side of the room wasn’t an option, so the only way he could go was up. He climbs up one of the stalls, hops across until reaching a pole sticking out of the wall. From there, he swings from pole to pole until he reaches one that’s a little lower than the others; he lands on top of it and tries to keep himself balanced before continuing.
After climbing up to the second level, he approaches a gate blocking his exit. He tries to lift it with his bare hands and it wouldn’t budge. “Locked…” Wulf says to himself. “Or course it’s ******** locked!” he looks around for another way, but there wasn’t one; but there was a weird looking lever on the other side of the second floor, only problem is there’s not path leading to it. By using the chandeliers and broken support beams, Wulf managed to make it over to the lever; he flips it and races back to the gate, which closed immediately after he passed through.
Meanwhile in another part of the castle, Jodan fights his way through the horde of skeleton warriors. He drew his sword and cut them down as they approached three by three.
“Alright, who else wants some? I can do this all day.” Jodan then notices the bowl of smoldering wood right next to him after the enemy had boxed him into a corner. He kicks it off of its metal stand and kicks it towards the horde; most of them burned to death, the others got knocked onto their backs.
While the remaining soldiers were down, Jodan took this time to flee. He makes it to the next room and finds himself in the middle of another battle. He rushes in like a an angry rhino and slashes left and right as he makes his way past them and through the door on the opposite side.
“Wulf… you made it out.” Jodan put on a fake smile as if he actually cared for his brother’s well-being. “I would’ve thought you’d be dead or something, but here you are…”
“Jodan, this is has gone on long enough; I want you to stop this now.”
“Even if I could, I’d still be disinclined to acquiesce to that request.”
“What?”
“It Means ‘no’, Wulf."
“Listen, you must return this army from whence it came; it is not meant for man to control.”
“You’re right about that, brother, but you’re forgetting one thing: we’re not men, we’re considered abominations in the eyes of those who created us. This army will help make them see things differently.”
“Not everyone thinks like that.”
“Oh don’t they?”
“Enough of this, throw me your half of the amulet so we can stop this before it’s too late.”
“Even if I wanted to do that, I can’t; those things have turned my men into pure energy. They were unable to do that to me, because this amulet is protecting me.” Jodan takes off, “Good bye, Wulf.”
“Jodan wait…” but it was too late, his brother had already left. Wulf continues on his way towards the main gates through the palace courtyard. On his way, he meets the face behind all these creatures, Teotl. He takes cover behind one of the pillars as a creature on the wall across from him takes his position, “And that must be Teotl; hope he didn’t see me…”
Teotl had skin redder than the devil himself; he was muscular like a bodybuilder; he had dark hair and even darker horns, demonic yellow eyes and a mustache and beard that circled his mouth.
Wulf peeked around as Teotl used his powers to conjure forth a terrible beast, which towered over him at about 7 feet or more; a huge, hulk-like form with a mask over part of his face like Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat with the horns of a goat over his ears. It looked up at Teotl as he gave it a command.
“The army’s getting more powerful like she said. I’ve got to find Jodan and fast.” Wulf heads up higher until reaching the second story balcony and continues on from there. Moments later, he feels the earth move beneath him. He looks over the edge to see the beast Teotl created, plowing into the tower a couple yards away from the ledge shoulder first.
“Someone needs to anger management therapy…”
The tower then topples over and Wulf leaps out of the way as the ground he was standing on gave way.
As Wulf continues down the path, the monster follows and tears down sections of it, trying to get to him, but Wulf proved to be too fast as he used the powers Soleonara gave him to slow down time.
The attacks subsided however, once Wulf encountered more skeleton troops accompanied by much larger warriors with spikes covering their shoulders and face.
“Great, just the guys I don’t wanna see…” emphasis on ‘don’t as he drew his sword to combat them. Normally, Wulf would run, but the gate on both sides lowered, blocking his path so he’d have no choice but to fight. After the last one went down, the gates on both sides rose up and Wulf moved on, despite the big brutish beast below tearing up the walkway below him.
Wulf was one step closer to the palace courtyards. He approached the balcony only to have it crumble under him and land him on the same level as the huge monster. It charged at him like a bull after seeing red; Wulf stood his ground until it got close enough and dived out of the way. As he gets up, he draws his sword; the beast smacks him with a backhand and Wulf shoots straight into the wall while his sword flies to his left. As he slowly peeled off, you could see an indentation showing how hard he was hit.
“That all you got? All my other enemies hit harder.” Wulf egged him on.
The monster combines his fists and attacks in attempt to pound Wulf into the ground; Wulf rolled forward and struck with an uppercut to the chin.
The beast reaches inward and tries to grab Wulf, but he proves too fast as he leaps up, grabs onto its index finger, flips right-side up and makes his way onto the monster’s back where he proceeds to punch him repeatedly in the spine. Each punch only did a small amount of damage, which made the beast angrier and angrier.
The beast falls backwards in attempt to squash Wulf, but he jumped off his back before they both made contact with the ground, “Hey, ugly!” Wulf called out.
The beast turns towards Wulf, who then throws a pepper bomb into its face to blind it. Wulf gets in closer as it waves it hands around to feel where Wulf is in the room like a blind man trying to find his way. When the beast would get too close to his position, Wulf would evade any way he could before making his way over to his sword and then up the creature’s back to deliver the final strike; a stab to the back. As he sunk his blade in deeper, Wulf slid down the spinal cord, causing dark energy to escape the wound as the beast disintegrated into nothing. Continuing on his way to through the courtyard, Wulf takes notice to the fact it was lacking the presence of any soldiers or whatever was left of their effects, “Perhaps Jodan’s army isn’t as tough as they used to be; either that or Teotl’s men got to them first. I wouldn’t wish this kind of death of anyone, including my enemies.”
“Neither would I…”
Wulf turns as soon as he hears his brother’s voice from above, “Well you just did; by releasing these creatures, you have doomed us all. Not even you can control it, Jodan; no matter how evil you are.”
“I don’t believe that; I think you’re just telling me this, so you can get my half and have the power for yourself.”
“Unlike you, I’m not that evil. Now give me the amulet half.”
“Gotta catch me first…” Jodan takes off and Wulf quickly follows.
With the higher ground, it made it nearly impossible for Wulf to keep up, but that wasn’t going to stop him from retrieving the amulet half. Wulf kept up the pursuit from down low until they passed through an area with large winding gears. After passing that, they reach the front gates of the palace; Wulf had finally managed to make it up to Jodan’s level, but he was still out of reach by a several feet.
“C’mon, Jodan, this is getting old, hand it over.”
“Honestly, you’re like a dog with a bone about this whole thing, you know that?”
“Now, Jodan…” Wulf holds up one of the guns he picked up off one of Jodan’s soldiers with only one round left.
“What do you expect to do with that? I’m as fast as you; that bullet won’t do any good.”
“Who said anything about shooting you?” Wulf points to the large crate just above him.
“Clever, Wulf, you’re learning. But if you do that, I’ll still be over here; dead. And you’ll be stuck over there with no way across.”
“I’ll manage; I have been so far…”
“And let me guess; you hesitated…” Soleonara asked.
“I know I shouldn’t have.”
“But why did you?”
“Honestly? I have no idea…”
“You let him get the drop on you… and you still don’t have his half of the amulet…”
Jodan agrees to giving Wulf his half; he throws it over and uses it as a distraction to attack one of the support beams and send Wulf tumbling down to the gate’s level.
Wulf realizes what Jodan gave him was a fake, but it was too late as the army barged its way through the gates; two giant beasts like Wulf have fought before, but with silver armor and large horns lead the skeleton warriors.
“You said he spoke of how the army was making him stronger, correct?”
“Yes I did.”
“The longer he exposes himself to them in combat, the more of their power is being transferred into the amulet.”
“Then how come I’m not being affected like he is?”
“The power I added to your half must be shielding you in some way.”
Wulf fights his way out by using his power to slow down time and kill most of the smaller demons first before he turns his attention to the larger ones. By the time he had finished, his brother was already gone.
“You didn’t think this would be useful information to have?”
“I didn’t I needed to warn you; I was hoping you’d be quicker to reunite the two halves, but instead, you waited too long. But anyway, what’s done is done. You are going to need more power if you are to have any chance of confronting this ‘Jodan’ and undoing what he has done.” Soleonara casts another spell on Wulf. Power surges from her body and into his, causing him to jump back. “You now have dominion over fire; as long as there’s a flame burning nearby, you can use it to suit your needs.”
“This time, I won’t hold back. I won’t hesitate to take it from him by force.” Wulf makes his way back to the door and exits back into the palace, where he finds the path ahead has no floor. He takes a while to think the situation through. He looks to the candles on the walls and concentrates to make bars made of flames on one side, which he uses to make it across to the corner and jump towards the floor on the opposite side.
Meanwhile, Soleonara’s voice echoed throughout his head, “I regret to inform you that you cannot manipulate the flame beyond its current strength. So think through the situation carefully before leaping into action.”
“Anything else you want to tell me? Or are you going to let me figure this stuff out myself?”
“When using a stronger flame to create paths, it is important you focus on that task and nothing else; otherwise, it will give away you may die.”
“Can’t I just slow down time until I am safe?”
“You can try, but I’m… not quite sure you’re ready to control two powers at once; try getting used to them first.”
“Hello? Is there anyone there who can help me?” a voice said off in the distance.
Wulf investigates and find the voice is coming from the Prison cells. After making it to the balcony overlooking the entire area, hears screams of terror from somewhere in the room

A couple of prisoners locked in their cells were being attacked by shadow warriors; a different kind than the ones he faced before. They wrapped in a metallic skin with no eye holes, no mouths; just long cat-like ears and retractable blades coming out of back of his hand just above the third knuckles like the Shredder had in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and sword mounted on their backs; they were draining the energy out of them and leaving nothing but statues in their place.
They were ready for Wulf as he slid down on one of the banners and smack-dab in the middle of their circle.
Wulf attacks one, he’s drawn in close; the beast then pushes him back into the arms of one of his comrades with his shield; Wulf breaks free with a few elbow strikes before stabbing of one the warriors on his left. Wulf rushes at one enemy, who puts his shield up; Wulf uses it to bounce his way out of the circle in the opposite direction while throwing ninja stars at the ones below him as he passed.
Two of them approach with their claws extended and Wulf blocks. After a few seconds, they swiped at him with their swords; Wulf spirals around one and slashes him in the back.
As that one fell and the dark aura escaped his body, the second one lunges at Wulf who arches himself over the blade, which stopped an inch away from his stomach; the same with his blade at the creature’s neck. They both drew back and stood staring at each other, trying to predict the other’s move. They move back and forth blocking each other’s attacks until Wulf sidestepped, rushed past him and gutted him in the side just above the hip.
Wulf fought until he was tired and then quickly thought of a way out of the mess he was in. he bounces off his enemy’s shield and up into the showerhead above. After swinging around it a couple times, he jumps towards the crack in the wall, moves to the right, jumps onto a pillar, climbs up and leaps from it to the ledge and into the next section of the prison, where he uses the suspended cells to make his way across to the other side. The whole way across, he was bombarded with arrows from dark energy beasts down below. With no way to defend himself at this altitude, Wulf moved quickly. As he jumped from one cell to the next, the one behind him emitted a creaking noise. Wulf looked up and the chain started giving away. The cage drops quickly and crushes several of the skeletons below; the rest spiraled through the air before hitting the floor face first.
“Well, that was lucky…” Wulf soon changed his opinion as the cage he was currently swinging from jiggled a bit, “I’d better get moving,” he thought as he hopped to the next cage and the next one and so on. After making it to the ledge, he goes left and quickly slides under a closing gate; his scarf gets caught and Wulf cuts a piece of it off before continuing. His path was once again blocked; the area was too wide for him to wall along the wall, but he noticed a chandelier above the giant hole. He harnesses its flames to make a rope, which he used to swing across the other side.
“Why’s it getting hotter?” he thought. But it soon dawned on him that he was heading towards the furnace. He turns to go back the other way, but finds a couple dozen shadow creatures blocking his way. Rather than fight them, Wulf looked over his shoulder at the chute and foolishly slide down.
The furnace was merely a round ball filled with garbage and six small holes, which shot out flames to incinerate the unwanted material.
“Oh Wulf, why’d you come down here?” he said to himself, brushing off the garbage that may have clung to him after his fall. Once finished, he noticed a door; simple as that. He goes for the door and after jiggling the knob several times, he got it open. He wanders around for an hour until he heard the sound of running water in the distance; he had just made it to the sewer where they drain the bath water from the tubs. He picks one of the drains that’s dry and climbs up out of one of the tubs. By the time he reached the baths, the sun was already rising.
“About time I had some good luck; after the workout I just had, I could use a bath.” Wulf shakes his head, “Focus, Wulf; find Jodan first, then I can bathe…”
Meanwhile, up on high, Jodan stands silent as he watches his brother get into another fight with the dark energy demons, whom this time were accompanied by a masked villain wearing a purple cape and dressed in black; as this new enemy raised his sword, more skeleton warriors rose from the ground out of a strange looking cult circle.
Wulf put down every single warrior in front of him, but they just kept coming and coming; meanwhile, Jodan kept watching.
“That’s right, tire yourself out; make yourself an easy target and that way, you’ll be out of my hair for good this time…”
Wulf heard the faint mumbling of his brother and summons the power of fire from the candles all around him and creates a swirling vortex which cut through the army and cleared a path to the one, who was summoning them. After exchanging a few hits, Wulf stabs his blade through his opponent’s heart and ends the battle.
At that time, Jodan leaps down to Wulf’s level, “So… I take it you heard me.”
“I have super good hearing; same as you. What the hell was that...?”
“He’s a summoner, recently made from the army. I’ve had a run-in with him, collected his power. You know he’s ten times that of the others…”
“Jodan, enough’s enough, give me the medallion half.”
“No. I know what your game is; you wish to gain control of the army yourself. Well you can’t have them, they’re mine.”
“They belong to no one!”
“For the time being, yes, but that’s all about to change.”
Wulf stops Jodan from walking away by pointing his sword as his neck, “Not this time, brother. I will kill you if I need to.”
Jodan hesitates before pushing his sword away. “Then go ahead, if you dare…” Jodan’s eyes emitted a dark purple aura for a brief second.
“What’s happened to you…?”
“I upgraded,” Jodan said vaguely as he pushes Wulf back and landed him face first on the floor with a strong low punch to the stomach. “That was too easy; get up.”
Wulf pounds the ground with his fist before standing up. He approaches Jodan and throws a right; Jodan rushes behind him as a purple blur. Wulf turns with a back elbow, but Jodan ducks; the whole time he dodged all of his twin’s moves, a purple aura trailed behind him. After a few more strikes, Jodan quits evading and attacks back with a frontal kick to the abdomen.
“I thought I was the one with the bad temper…”
With one quick slash from his sword, Wulf manages to cut a piece of Jodan’s scarf off as he cartwheels over his head and behind him again.
“Impressive… unless you were aiming for me.”
Wulf leaps at him with his sword pointed out; Jodan sidesteps with his blade facing backwards and slashes through Wulf’s side. “I’ll spare your life for now; just don’t expect me to be easy during our next encounter…” Jodan races back up to where he was once standing as a blur and then takes his leave as Wulf lied their on his side unconscious.
“As long as the beast controlling them lives, I’ll never gain full control; I must find the leader and take him down.” Jodan wanders around thinking of a plan, “Now if I were a powerful warrior where would I be…? Ah yes, the throne room.” Jodan takes off in that direction, fighting hordes of those things to gain more power. When army became too much for him, he would flee; from the walkway just outside the bathhouse where he left his twin, Jodan races past the army until reaching the end and leaps to the balcony on the opposite side. Heading through the archway, Jodan climbs the wall to the next level, out the window at the end and into the adjacent building, which was used as a training ground; the mechanisms inside were still active.
Jodan had to time his moves perfectly to avoid getting killed, not just by the traps, but an army of shadow warriors as well. He ducked and dodged them as he led them across the room and through the traps, eliminating them one by one.
Moments later, Wulf wakes up; confused about what happened, Wulf looks around and it all slowly comes back to him in the form of one name, “Jodan…” he takes a step and his side, where he got cut, starts to hurt. He places a hand over the wound and it started to burn. He takes the hand off to see his cut on fire; the flames slowly die as the wound seals itself up in a matter of seconds. “You know, it would’ve been better having the healing powers of water…”
“I’m guardian of the flames; I do not possess that power, I am sorry.”
“I’m the one who should be sorry; I let him get away…”
“Wanna talk about it?”
“What’s there to talk about?”
“For starters, you let your anger cloud your abilities.”
“Hey, I was tired, frustrated; it could’ve happened to anyone.”
“You’re not taking this seriously.”
“Of course I am…”
Wulf climbs up to the point where Jodan was the old fashioned way, but the door was sealed, which meant he had to find another way out of the room. Eventually he finds a way and finds himself in the royal chambers.
“Perhaps it’s time you come back in…”
“No. I can do this; this time I won’t…” Wulf paused.
“Won’t what?”
Before Wulf could answer, a purple energy ball strikes the ground where he stands; Wulf managed to roll right under it before the impact. “I’ll have to get back to you on that.”
Teotl continues reigning dark energy down on Wulf and as he took out the ground in front of him, Wulf summons the power over fire to create a railing, which he used to climb over to the other side.
“I see Soleonara has found another lap dog to do her bidding,” Teotl said in his own native language
Toetl aims for Wulf and misses, causing the rail he was hanging onto to break. As it fell, Wulf jumped from it to the wall in front of him and proceeds to climb up. With no more to hang onto, Wulf moves right, jumps to a broken pillar and slides down to the lower level. As he got close to the bottom, Teotl cuts him off with an energy blast; Wulf slows down time as he back flips off of the pillar and lands on his feet; the pillar he was just hanging from, creates a makeshift bridge for him to walk across.
“Enough of this, let’s see you follow me indoors, Teotl…” Wulf heads through the archway and the door closes behind him.
At this time, Teotl was the least of Wulf’s worries as a few dozen of his demons materialize from the shadows to greet him.
“Out of the frying pan into the fire; probably wasn’t a good idea to come here…”
Wulf takes his sword and fights his way across the room before climbing the walls to higher ground, away from the army; Wulf creates a rope from the flame of a torch and swings across to a hole in the wall, which he uses to climb across the rest of the way.
“Well, at least hothead isn’t still following me…”
Like if were bad karma, Teotl leaps into view and commences his attack.
“Spoke too soon,” Wulf muttered as he went left instead of straight ahead. After a few feet, Teotl collapses the ground beneath Wulf, forcing him to land on the lower level, but as soon as he lands he looks up and notices the ceiling caving in; thinking quickly, Wulf creates a barrier made of flames to cover him and trick Teotl into thinking he had perished.
Teotl shouts something before taking off and Wulf emerges from the rubble shortly after his departure.
“No surprise as to where he’s off to; I’ve got to get to the throne room. That’s where Jodan ought to be.”
An hour of wandering the palace later, Jodan arrives at the throne room; Teotl shortly after.
“About time you showed up…”
Teotl answers him back and finally figures out that Jodan can somewhat understand his dialect.
“Of course this ends here, but I’m going to be the one that walks away.”
“You understand me?” Teotl asked.
“Every word,” Jodan responded, as if he learned his opponent’s language through absorption.
“If I am to go down, I plan on taking a piece of you with me!” Teotl conjures a red bladed sword with a black handle out of nowhere.
As the battle for possession of the army raged on, Wulf continued his way through the throne room towards his brother and Teotl.
“You’re quite good…”
Teotl strikes low at Jodan’s midsection, but Jodan leaps over it, rolls once, gets up, turns and strikes; Teotl blocks with his back turned.
“You’re not so bad yourself.” Jodan responds in English.
Teotl throws a back elbow to the face, which Jodan blocks before returning another sword slash to Teotl’s knees, but Teotl back flips over it; Jodan quickly turns as Teotl hits the ground; Teotl falls through a purple circle in the floor and reappears on Jodan’s right. Jodan throws a back fist, which Teotl dodges with the same maneuver before reappearing in front of Jodan to initiate a frontal kick to the stomach.= to knock him on his back.
Meanwhile, Wulf jumps a gap in the broken staircase to the center of the throne room. As he climbed up, some of the stones sticking out gave away; Wulf almost fell to his death, but with quick agility, he managed to avoid fate. “Jodan, you’d better pray to the gods he finishes you; because if he doesn’t, I will!”
“Pity; I was expecting a bit of a challenge from the guy trying to take my power…”
“I got your challenge right here!” Jodan pulls out his big gauge and fires powerful shot to the Teotl’s chest before quickly putting the firearm away. “Is that challenging enough or do you request more?”
“Jodan!” Wulf bellowed.
Jodan looks to Wulf and gets hit with a surprise attack, which knocks him out of one of the windows.
“How’s about taking me on…?” Wulf unsheathes his sword.
Teotl has his sword drawn out and at his side as he and Wulf rush each other; Wulf copies after him until moving in closer and initiating a flying kick the chest. Once he had him on the ground, Wulf strikes with his sword and misses as Teotl falls through another purple circle in the floor and comes up behind him.
Wulf points his palm to the side, draws in a flame from one of the torches on the wall, rotates his arm behind him and shots the fireball at Teotl, who didn’t have time to evade.
After being pushed back, Teotl summons a ball of energy, which he shoots at Wulf, who holds up his sword to deflect.
The two go back and forth exchanging blows until Teotl got the better of Wulf, who then switches to a different tactic; his highly underused sonar-vision power known as “Blindsight”. Wulf closes his eyes and sees Teotl standing in front of him as a red aura while most of the stuff in his surrounding was blacked out.
Teotl deploys his tactic of teleportation via dark circles, but Wulf managed to stay one step ahead as he can see which hole his opponent will pop out of and proceeds to deliver strike after strike.
“About time you learned a new trick, eh?” Wulf mocked.
Teotl says something back in his own language before filling the whole room with dark aura, clouding Wulf’s ability to use his power.
Wulf opens his eyes and proceeds to do this the old fashioned way.
Teotl distracts Wulf long enough to restrain him with a few dark energy soldiers.
Jodan returns to the room and slashes Teotl in the back; Wulf breaks free of Teotl’s warriors’ grip and tends to the many that started rising out of the dark aura while his brother, Jodan continues his battle with Teotl himself.
“You think you’ve beaten me, well THINK AGAIN!” Jodan seemed to have come back stronger than ever; probably fought a bunch more monsters on his way back into the throne room.
After a while of battling him, Jodan finally ends it all with a quick stab through Teotl’s heart, assuming he has one; Teotl’s wound starts exhibiting a brilliant flash of white light, which blinded Jodan and got Wulf’s attention.
“Finally, the power is MINE!!” Jodan does an evil laugh.
“Jodan, what have you done?!”
The white light then gets absorbed into Jodan’s amulet half and causes it to bond with him; making a tattoo, which appeared on his skin underneath his clothing.
“Like I said, I’m taking a piece of you with me!!!” Teotl roared in his own language as more and more of his essence enters Jodan’s amulet.
Jodan screams as he clutches his head and shakes it from side to side.
“Jodan. Jodan, what the hell did you just do…” Wulf approaches his brother, who pushes him away with a powerful shockwave, which just shoots from his body at an instant; Jodan screams a bit more as a tattoo of Teotl’s right arm appeared on Jodan’s and forces him to hit the ground with all his might. As he does, he mysteriously vanishes from the room.
“What the hell was that?” Wulf asked. But instead of standing around trying to figure it out, he got moving. After rounding a couple corners of the corridor ahead, he comes up on another door made of flames, which meant another visit to Soleonara’s chambers.
“Alright, I want some sort of an explanation for that Incredible Hulk stunt my brother just pulled back there.”
“I’m sorry… Incredible ‘who’?”
“Never mind, just tell me what happened? He killed that thing and…”
“That may have been you saw with your own eyes, but what has transpired is something entirely different. Your brother may have destroyed Teotl’s body, but his spirit has now found a new vessel to call own.”
“So you’re saying he transferred himself into Jodan?”
“That’s exactly what I am saying.”
“So he… can’t be saved?”
“Any and all spells that could help him are long lost, so I’d say yes, he cannot be saved…”
“Good. This isn’t the way I wanted all this to go down, but…” Wulf unsheathed his sword.
“You can’t do that…”
“Why not?”
“If you kill your brother, not only will he be gone, but you will be too.”
“How so?”
“A being such as him cannot be defeated with any ordinary sword; you kill your brother, and Teotl will just transfer into your half of the amulet and all hope of defeating him will be lost.”
“Oh, I… never thought of it that way; what do you advise I do?”
Soleonara holds up her palm and places it on Wulf’s chest. “Prepare… for the next task that lies before you.” She then chants another spell to give Wulf another power. “You will need to travel to the city of the Gehenna. There, you will find a sword. With it, Teotl is as good as dead.”
“Another sword, I don’t get it?”
“This weapon was designed for this particular purpose; to defeat one elemental, you must harness the power of another.”
“What does that even mean?”
“I will explain once you’ve gone to the city and obtained the sword. Go now, we haven’t much time; haven’t you noticed the sky; that even when the sun is up, it seems… darker? It is the army’s power; the stronger they get, the more they will spread. Soon this world is will be covered in darkness and the rest of the universe will follow.”
“Okay, I get it. How do I find this city of the Gehenna?”
“The power I added to your half of the amulet just now will help guide you. Now go.”
Straight out of the doorway, Wulf rounds the corner and approaches a large gap; on the other side of that gap were half a dozen enemies. Wulf looks the both sides and notices right away he cannot run along the walls, so as soon as he moves on to use the flames to make a bridge, something else happens instead; the flames surround him like an orange bubble and he instantly shoots across to the other side like a comet, taking out the enemies as he lands. Immediately after that, Wulf reaches another corner, runs along the wall and bounces in the opposite direction; he barely makes it and tries to balance himself to keep from going over the edge.
“How did I just do that?” Wulf asked as he kept running. “Never mind, I gave up trying to figure these powers out a long time ago…” a few yards ahead, Wulf steps on a switch, causing the ground to collapse; all that remained from the incident was a few 4x4’s sitting over top of a pit of spikes. “Just don’t look down,” Wulf repeated to himself a couple of times as he traversed the tricky obstacle with arms out as his sides like he were walking a tightrope. Halfway across, a black slit in the wall to Wulf’s right opens up and out pops a swinging axe. Wulf rolls forward and nearly goes over the edge toward the spikes below, but he grabs hold of the plank and continues on; more swinging axes come out of the walls on both side when he reached the ¾ mark. Wulf times his movement careful so to avoid cutting any of his fingers off until it was all clear and he climbs back up.
“Finally, firm ground beneath my feet…” Wulf pauses to look at his amulet, which starts to glow when it comes in alignment with a huge, round, white tower at least 10 to 15 stories. “I’m going in the right direction; that’s a good sign.” Wulf approaches a large gap, runs along the wall until stepping on a switch and causing a large chunk of stone to emerge from the wall as a landing pad. He then runs along the wall to the other side, past the army of shadow warriors and up the wall before jumping to the pole sticking out of the wall and climbing over to the pillar overlooking the ledge. From there, he jumps to another pole, then another and another until landing right in front of the tower. “Hmm…” Wulf says as he strokes his chin as he checks the door and finds that it’s locked. “The door’s not an option, so how do you suppose I get in then?” Wulf uses his sonar-vision to scope out the tower and map a way upward.
He hops onto the 4x4’s sticking out of the wall and runs across them to a vertical piece of stone with his left hand out and then rotates 90 degrees. As soon as he has both hands firmly grasped, he climbs to the top, times his wall-run just right so he hits the button; a section of the wall pushes inward, giving Wulf something to hold onto as he walks along the wall the rest of the way, hops to a flagpole and onto a stone block. After a few seconds, the block started weakening, making Wulf move quicker. He grabs hold of a banner and swings a quarter of the way around the tower until reaching an opening, which led him inside. “Hmm… that wasn’t so hard.”
But the fun was only beginning for Wulf as something big started to crawl out of a dark circle in the floor; first one arm, then another, a couple of horns, and then the rest of its body. The beast was similar to what Wulf fought before only covered in gold armor.
“Not this guy again…” Wulf draws his sword and proceeds with the first strike and fails as the monster swats him like an annoying bug towards one of the windows. Wulf then tries for a much lower approach; he rushes in, the beast tries to squish him with his fist, but Wulf jumps out of the way and goes straight for this right ankle with a quick slash as he slides under him; the monster kneels and Wulf jumps on his back, sticking his sword in like a knife into a roast; the beast reacts with a violent roar before he yanks Wulf and his sword out of his back and throws him to the floor. He then beats his chest before he joins his hands together, making one big fist and attacking; Wulf rolls out of the way, gets up and quickly rushes in to slits the monster’s wrist; it draws its left hand back and grasps it with its other hand.
As Wulf moves in for the kills, the monster’s attention is now drawn back to him; as it swats at him, Wulf races under the two fists, position himself under its heart and jumps up to stick his sword in and… instant death; the door on the opposite end reopens and Wulf continues on his way until reaching a gap. “The flames are too far away for me use them,” Wulf thought, so instead, he slows down time and attempts the leap of faith to make it across. He succeeds. Wulf then looks over the edge and sees his way down; the banners; he hangs to the ledge until the right time then pulls out his sword and slides down from one banner to the next until at the very bottom.
“Yeah, he’s definitely been this way; no one can make such a mess as this, except Jodan that is…” Wulf approaches the huge pit of spikes, leaps onto the first 4x4, but this time waits for the swinging object with spikes that kept moving back and forth to make a pass before leaping to the next board; he waits again for it to swing by and then performs a back flip over it and onto the third board and then the other side of the pit.
Reaching the next room, Wulf feels as if he’s being followed. He turns to greet his mysterious stalker, but no one was there. He kept moving, ignoring his stalker until the right time to pounce.
Suddenly, a figure floated over him; it had a black robe with a white stripe going vertically down the middle and a white and gray mask with four orange eyes. As it hovered in place, a small black dragon circles it, leaving a flame trail wherever it went.
Wulf looked up just as the dragon circling the hooded person opens its mouth and shoots out an intense flame. Once it stopped, the flame turned into a fireball; Wulf jumps out of the way before it could hit and then looks back up at his attacker, who teleports to the other side of the room.
Wulf makes his way over to him while avoiding the fireballs being thrown at him and uses his power over fire to shoot himself at the person as a fireball.
“Only one way to go; up.” He steps on a trigger plate and causes parts of the wall to pop out, giving him the opportunity to use wall jump. Once at the top, Wulf rushes down the hallway and past a couple of torches sitting on the ground; he summons his powers and turns them into a sliding platform to make his way down. Immediately after reaching the bottom, Wulf zigzags down the hall until performing a wall-run to reach the first flagpole, the second, and so on to reach the other side, where he finds himself sliding down a sand-filled walkway; Wulf tries to slow down before he goes over the edge, but fails. For his next attempt, he digs his feet into the ground, leans forward and performs a leap of faith; like the last time, Wulf is hanging on by his hands, trying to pull himself up.
“Hmm… the sky’s getting dark, but the sun is still out; Soleonara’s right. I have to get moving if I am to have any chance of stopping this.” Wulf pauses and looks off to his right after hearing a violent explosion. “What the hell…?”
After getting closer, it soon dawned of Wulf that the explosion was the result of his brother, Jodan, fighting against Teotl’s warriors while wandering aimlessly through the palace.
“Jodan!” Wulf called out, but there was no response from him; the only thing Jodan was focused on was gaining more power from his fallen enemies.
“There’s not much more I can do for him now; got to keep moving.” Wulf finds a way across to the bridge his brother was on and continues on his way. “Oh no, not these guys again…” Wulf looks down at a bunch of skeleton warriors plus one masked figure he had the pleasure of fighting earlier; the skeletons pulls spears off their backs and throw them; Wulf ducks and dodges each one but loses his balance and slides down the slanted walkway towards them. Thinking quickly, Wulf creates a rectangular shape near the ledge. As he approaches it at high speed, it bounces him into the air like a spring. Wulf then performs a back flip and a spiral before landing on the masked figure, which was standing in the middle of the horde. Turning his attention to the others, Wulf drew his sword and defends until finding the right time to attack.
“Well, that takes care of them, but where did Jodan run off to?”
After getting out of the garden area, Wulf catches up with him; Jodan was in the middle of a bridge, fighting more monsters, absorbing their powers, and getting stronger; strong enough that he sends out a massive shockwave, which shatters the bridge, leaving Wulf without a way across. But instead of being concerned, Wulf stared at his brother, Jodan, as the transformation started to take effect; Jodan’s eyes turned yellow just like Teotl’s, his wolf-like paws turned red and started losing fur as his nails grew out and became sharper.
But instead of doing something, Wulf just stood there as Jodan walked away. Once out of sight, Wulf aimed his sword at the other side of the bridge; it stuck in and he used to grab a hold of after performing a leap of faith. He climbs up and pulls his sword free of the stone.
“Wherever I’m going, Jodan seems to be heading that way as well,” Wulf said after noticing his amulet was glowing again.
Immediately after his sentence, Jodan appears below him again; Wulf stood up high watching him fight one enemy after another to collect their power. After each battle, he would change more and more; this time, Jodan’s face began to resemble Teotl’s. His hair turned from red to black and started looking spikier, his nose shrunk and a goatee grew all around it. The newly formed Teotl turns to face Wulf before turning away and leaping into the air and out of sight.
“I’m gonna have to hurry if I’ll have a chance at stopping him.”
After hours of wandering the palace, Wulf finds the entrance to the city of Gehenna Soleonara mentioned by standing on top of the second highest point of the entire kingdom, but before he could go to it, Jodan leaps up onto the structure Wulf was standing on.
“Just because you’ve possessed my brother’s body, doesn’t mean I’ll go any easier on you.” Wulf drew his sword and stood his ground.
Teotl’s voice spoke for Jodan, “I wouldn’t want it any other way…” he said in a language Wulf had yet to understand as he unsheathed his sword.
“So it’s come to this, has it? Then let’s do it.” Wulf makes the first move; Teotl followed. Wulf slides under his enemy’s blade, spirals and kicks him in the back and nearly drives him over the edge; Teotl balances himself, turns and rushes towards Wulf; Teotl throws the first strike, which Wulf blocks before retaliating with a low strike, which Teotl leapt over with a forward rolls before slashing Wulf in the back.
Wulf moves away and waits for Teotl to attack again; he does so by firing an energy shot at his feet, which Wulf dodges with a forward roll. As he stands, Wulf looks behind him at the hole in the ground made by his enemy. He slowly backs towards it as Teotl moves towards him.
“Sorry to have to… drop out on you like this, but…” he pauses as Teotl takes a swing at him and misses. After landing in the hole, Wulf shouts back up as he falls, “I have somewhere else to be!”
Teotl tries to follow him, but the hole seals itself back up as he lays one foot on it.
It’s as if Wulf was falling towards the core of the earth with how long he has been descending, but he then sees a light at his feet, which indicated the end of his fall; after reaching the bottom, Wulf grabs onto this bar just moments after and swings from it to a ledge and follows it all the way down to the bottom where he finds an odd looking statue holding two mirrors. Above that was a huge glass ball with a candle inside. Wulf lights it and the entire ball shines brightly like a miniature sun. Wulf realigns the mirrors to bounce the light throughout the room and illuminate his path. In doing so, the stairs leading from the platform he landed on after entering the chamber collapse one step at a time until revealing another path further down.
At the bottom, another doorway to Soleonara’s chambers appeared.
“You could’ve warned me there’d be a long drop like that; I nearly killed myself.”
“It must’ve slipped my mind; I haven’t been to visit the city in years.”
“Whatever, let’s just retrieve the sword and be done with this whole thing.”
“I understand what has to be done must be done, but how can you truly be so heartless; and towards your own flesh and blood even?” Soleonara asked.
“As I said, we’re brothers, but not by choice; I was not born like ordinary humans, I was created… in a lab; a super soldier project. Jodan was… made because through the eyes of my military, I was considered flawed.”
“Flawed? How?”
“I still possessed a conscience and according to my CO, you can’t win a war with kindness. He… was a much colder, heartless version of me. Anyway, after he caused the explosion in the lab, which compromised the Mansion above, he and I were assumed dead. We’ve been wandering the universe ever since, trying to kill one another. We’ve been on many adventures and each time, I’ve come close to ending him, but never got the chance to, because he’d cause a diversion to cover his escape. Our last encounter ended with him sparing my life, taking his newly acquired army and disappearing until the other day when I tracked him to here.”
“Perhaps when this is over, you can tell me a bit about your adventures.”
“It would be my pleasure…”
“But for now, head to the temple. I’ll meet you there shortly.”
“There’s not gonna be any more surprises, are there?”
“Just in case there are…” Soleonara casts another spell to give Wulf more of her powers. “I have just given you my memories of how everyone once when I was there. If you run into any trouble, they shall help guide you through.”
“How would that work? What I see through the memories you’ve given me won’t actually be there; I’ll hurt myself or worse.”
“True. The structures that appear in your mind won’t be presence, but kinetic energy allows your body to actually feel them as if they were real.”
“Alright, since we don’t have a lot of time, I’ll trust you on this. But only cuz every other ability you bestowed upon has worked so far…” Wulf makes his exit and follows the path deeper into the temple. The path in front of him was missing a chunk of the floor and walls, so wall-running wasn’t an option. He uses Soleonara’s new power, which creates a yellow barrier that filled in the spaces on the walls and floor. He concentrates even harder to fill in the blanks, but he saw after was of no help at all; the floor was rigged with spring-loaded spikes, the walls had arrows shooting from it and further along, there were swinging axes coming out of the walls.
“Okay… I liked it better not knowing what lied ahead of me.” He gets a running start, he cartwheels and front flips across the spikes, dodged the arrows, leapt up and hung onto the handle for the swinging axes as he jumped from one to the other. Once on the other side, he runs along the wall, turns and jumps the gap with the punji sticks, forward rolls under a swinging four-by-four with spikes and then stops to catch a breath. After a short while, Soleonara appears before him by coming through the flames on a lit torch.
“Oh sure, you get to do it the easy way…”
“You seemed to enjoy it; why spoil your fun?”
“Yeah yeah yeah. Where exactly are we? What is this place?”
“Wulf ninja warrior, I welcome you… to the city of Gehenna. Once the home of my people. Most of what you see around is powered by fire; the rest: water.”
“Where do we go from here?”
“Down there…” she pointed to the large, half circular door at the bottom floor on the opposite end. “Beyond that is the entrance to the temple.” She slowly backs away towards the torch.
“Aren’t you coming?” Wulf asked.
“I’ll meet you there.” She disappears into the flames once again.
“I hate it when she does that…” Wulf smacks his palm to his forehead.
There was no staircase to get down there, so Wulf went up higher to see if there was another way; after performing a wall-kick and bouncing from one side to the other, he makes it to the next level of the room. From there, he notices a broken walkway. He slides down it until reaching the edge and then leaps to the other side, landing a back flip into a spiral. Once he went through the door, he was greeted by the sight of four giant statues all aligned in the shape of a square; one of them he already recognized firsthand.
“There’s you… but who are the others?” Wulf asked as he wanders around.
Soleonara enters the room, “Representatives of the other three elemental tribes: Maridea the guardian of the waters,” the female statue in a long dress that came down to her ankles, “Soarukai of the air and wind,” the male statue in a long robe and a necklace with several orbs, each of which displayed various cloud formations such as cumulus, nimbus, cirrus. “Roko, mover of the earth; before the army, we were a great team. We brought life to planets that could support it, helped push things along to help species evolve. An example would be your planet, Gaia. My people played their part in helping mankind to discover fire. And before that, when the planet was but a ball of fire, Maridea’s tribe helped form the earth into what it is today.”
“Now there’s a final example of teamwork.”
“There was only one among us, who hated the idea of humans and elementals coinciding and you’ve had the pleasure of meeting him.”
“Teotl…”
“We used to live in peace before Pandora’s Box was created; once it was opened and evil spread across the earth and universe, Teotl’s anger towards all life was formed. Seeing as your kind and others fighting over trivial things, he then thought of it as a disease. He spoke of its extermination. When we tried to stop him, he used his powers to create an army from whatever he touched; sand, gravel, stone, whatever was there for him to use; an abomination. We fought him to no end, and then we finally found a way of imprisoning him until your brother undid what we had done.”
“I swear I will make him pay for this…”
Soleonara suddenly starts disappearing before Wulf’s eyes. He calls out her name and every time she didn’t answer.
Then that’s when the trouble started; a small handful of dark energy soldiers pop out of the ground in front of him. He tears through the army with no difficulty, but then the smaller ones started coming together to form a giant monster; as the giant swings its sword, Wulf jumps out of the way.
“C’mon, you guys get slower and slower.”
The gargantuan beast swings it sword and as Wulf blocks, the force from the impact knocks him into one of the statues.
Wulf waits for the monster to make its next move and then he walks up the side of the statue, onto the monster’s sword and then runs along the blade, up its arm and leaps into the air to land a strike to the forehead. As he drives his blade deeper and deeper, he slowly brings his enemy to his knees.
Immediately after destroying him, Soleonara reappears.
“Perhaps we should get going…”
“Good idea,” she answers back to Wulf.
“I’ll meet you at the throne room; that’s where we must go next. There’s a secret passage leading to the vault.”
Wulf follows the path to the throne room; Soleonara enters the room through one of the torches.
“I’ve spent hours learning statecraft here. I can almost imagine what it was like back then.”
“I’ve never been one for the life of a king; when… Jodan and I fought this army bent on world conquest, he seized control after we killed their leader; but enough reminiscing, where’s this secret passage you mentioned?”
“Right there; underneath the throne. In order to access it, you must activate the switch at the highest level of this room.”
“You couldn’t have made it a lil easier to reach?” Wulf begins his climb. He races up one of the pillar to a horizontal pole then swings from it to the next one and the next one until reaching the platform up above and then jumps to another pillar; hanging on by the crack in the pillar, he climbs around and leaps to a ladder and ends up on the next level where he comes across the switch. He activates it and the throne slides back revealing a large hole in the ground. He slowly makes his way down and into the hole.
“Beyond that door is a sanctuary. Let me see if I can get it open.”
“Please by all means.”
With a wave of the arms and chanting a spell, the door slowly rises. Once inside, Wulf and Soleonara come up on a door.
Inside they come up to another door while the one behind them closed; Soleonara works her magic and opens this door as well. Wulf comes up on a flight of broken stairs and uses the power of Soleonara’s memories to fill in the blanks and grant him passage to the bottom.
After reaching the vault, Wulf comes up on a statue of a lion standing tall on a pedestal with weird writing.
“You will need to reposition the four mirrors so the light shines directly into the lion’s eyes if you are to open the doors.”
“It seemed simple enough,” Wulf said. He soon regretted his words, for the moment he climbed up to the first mirror, a small handful of enemies appear from the shadows to hinder his progress. He fought them as he jumped from platform to platform; each of the times, the enemy grew stronger, but Wulf prevailed. As he reached the last mirror, he directed the beam from the light source into the eyes of the statue. The door opened and he was granted access to large skeleton with a rose colored sword stuck in its mouth; Wulf picks it up and examines it from front to back then returns to the surface where he finds another door leading to Soleonara’s chambers.
“Tell me again how this sword will get Teotl’s attention when my sword barely put a dent him?”
“It is better I show you. Give me the sword.” She holds it blade down to the floor and slowly transfers power into it bit by bit until nothing remained of her human form.
“What happened? Where are you?”
“I’m in here; now do you see?”
Wulf was left speechless after what he just witnessed.
“Are you prepared for what has to be done?”
“Ready as I’ll ever be.”
“I’d like to remind you again of the outcome…”
“What will be is what will be; if I have to sacrifice my brother to save the world, then so be it.”
Once transitioning from the inside to the out, Wulf looks up at a black sky void of sunlight and then back down as a horde of dark energy warriors appear out of the floor as far as his eyes could see. He fights his way through all of them until going back inside where he encountered less of them.
“We need to get to higher ground otherwise you’ll just waste your energy fighting them to no end.”
“I saw a really high tower in the distance to the east before ducking in here. Will that be high enough?”
“Let’s hope so…”
Wulf climbs to the upper levels of the building he was in and then back outside. On the way to the tower, he encountered more enemies, but he endured all way to the winding staircase outside the tower he mentioned. “That… was intense…” he said between breaths. “You alright?” he asked Soleonara.
“I’m alright, how about you?”
“A lil worse for the wear, but I’ll make it,” He answers as he puts his sword away.
“Behind you!” Soleonara warned.
Wulf quickly unsheathes his weapon and deflects Teotl’s energy ball towards one of the pots to his right.
Teotl says something in his native language, which Soleonara responded to.
Wulf interrupts, “This ends here, Teotl…”
“You’re right, but only for one of us.”
Teotl shoots an energy ball from his right hand and Wulf bats it away before running up; Wulf strikes from his right, but Teotl blocks and swings with an overhead attack; Wulf ducks and pushes him back with a low punch to the stomach, holds his sword tip face down and charges Teotl, who teleports. Wulf quickly turns around and Teotl backhands him to cheek. One blow and Wulf was down. Teotl towers over Wulf and rains down strike after strike, which Wulf blocked with his sword over his face.
Teotl picks him up by the collar and slams him into a row of pots, shattering them instantly.
Wulf takes out some powder and throws it to the ground. Within an instant, Teotl was blinded. Wulf rushes him with a punch to the jaw and he goes straight through one of the support beams.
While Teotl was disoriented, Wulf leaps into action and slashes him in the back.
A couple minutes later, Teotl blinds Wulf with a light ball from his palm, conjures more of his soldiers into the room, and vanishes.
“Enough tricks, Teotl, come out and face us!” Soleonara says to Teotl using his language.
Teotl taunts her while still in hiding.
Wulf takes on the warriors one at a time until none remained; soon after, Teotl reappears and surprises Wulf after blowing a hole in the roof and letting in a mini tornado of dark energy, which struck him with bolts of lightning.
Once the lightning ceased, more soldiers appeared and Teotl again disappeared.
Wulf took care of them like the last ones; Teotl reappeared, but this time, Wulf slides under him and attacks his front as he takes a swipe at Wulf. Wulf then hits the wall, bounces off, lands on Teotl’s back and lands a devastating blow; Teotl responds with a roar before pulling Wulf’s sword out of his back and flicking Wulf off.
“Well, this sword’s definitely getting his attention.”
After a few more minutes of fighting, the mini tornado starts feeding itself into Teotl and causing him to glow.
“What’s he doing?”
“He’s drawing more power from the storm; it’s about to get a lil crowded in here…”
“I’m not worried. I’ve handled worse…”
“Not as worse as this.”
The power of the storm made Teotl grow even bigger; so big, that he tore the rest of the roof off as he grew to giant sized.
“Oh boy…” Wulf was swept off the ground with one swipe of Teotl’s paw. He looks to his left and grabs the flagpole. As he swings around it, he makes it to the adjacent rooftop and plants his feet firmly.
Soleonara gasps.
“What’s wrong?”
“He’s drawing away my energy; your powers, the ones I gave you, are now useless.”
“Good things never last, I suppose.”
“The stolen energy seems to be absorbing into his chest; that’s where you must hit.”
Wulf gets a running start and then leaps off the roof towards Teotl with all his might; his sword above his head, he pierces through the armor surrounding Teotl’s chest.
Teotl seemed to weaken as Wulf sank in deeper and deeper; within an instant, there was a flash of light and as it dimmed, the storm had subsided, revealing the blue sky; all of Teotl’s men released the soldiers, whose bodies they possessed; including some of Jodan’s men, who couldn’t get away fast enough.
As for Jodan himself, his body lied amongst the ruined palace walls; Wulf rushed over to him and turned him on his backside.
“Guess we finally know who won…” Jodan coughs.
“I didn’t want it to be under these circumstances.”
“Things happen; you just gotta deal with it. Once I’m gone, what will do you? Our whole purpose of being created was to find out who’s the better soldier, and now that we’ve done that…”
“Oh I’ve got plenty to keep me busy, don’t you worry.”
Jodan looks through Wulf’s vest pocket. He sees a photo of a woman; tan skin, strawberry blonde hair, silver eyes, “Hmm… never figured you for the romantic type…”
“I come with my fair share of surprises.” Before Wulf knew it, Jodan had passed on; he closes his eyes for him and leaves his body in the sand as he takes off.
Never thought a guy like me, who has come a long way in life, would soon be the universe’s only hope for survival for the third time in a row; I’ve gone from villain to hero, I’ve traveled to a different world, I’ve saved two different worlds from an enemy I did not know, but this time, I ‘knew’ the enemy; he was my brother, Jodan Wulf Warrior. We’ve fought for a long time, but here is where he made his last stand.
It is often said greed will imprison us; Jodan learned that the hard way. I begged him to not mess around with forces he couldn’t hope to control.
After the battle was over, I returned the sword to its resting place in the underground city; it felt the right thing to do, since it held too much power for even me. While carrying it, it felt cold, lifeless; I spoke Soleonara’s name, but she did not answer, but I know she would’ve wanted to left in the city she called home.
As for me, I left to find a way off the planet and back to the world I knew; Gaia.
