There were a few more bouts of fetch when the pup wore Hero out. It can back again with the stick, but the buck was all but collapsed on the ground, his neck sore from tossing it so many times.
"No, no," Hero laughed, his head flopped on the ground. "No more, I am too tired now! Maybe your mistress will be back soon and she'll throw it for you?" But all the while, he was chuckling softly to himself - this eaglehound had just so much energy!

Well that was certainly dull. A few thrown sticks and the buck was already tired out? He certainly lacked stamina. She watched him, a heap of bone and fur, between looking at the pup, still full of energy. Clearly it was far more valuable as a companion between the two of them.
With a shake of her head, she clucked her tongue -- a whistle would have done better but as her mouth was currently full -- in signal. It took longer than she would have expected of her hound, eyes narrowing slightly when at least both dogs emerged in front of her. Little Lies was going to have a terrible time with this dog.
Ah, well. She pushed her way through the shadows and brush. The fish prevented her from speaking and she let it drop, watching as the overactive pup went for it. She ignored its enthusiasm and turned her attention instead to Hero, "Lose something?". The way one brow seemed to arch, it was clear it was more in amusement. Though whether she meant her dogs or his energy... The whine of the mother hound had her attention, then.
"Go on, then, but only one," she told the female. She watched sharply as it took one dead otter in its teeth, the wet furry body sliding from behind her neck. That left one for her, which she would eat after parting ways.
She swept her gaze back to the buck. "Were they much trouble?"

Hero shook his head, "No trouble at all. The pup just has a lot of energy." His sides heaved from the exertion but overall, the headache was worth it. Adventure never played with him....just sulked.
"It appears your hunt was successful," he smiled genuinely.
From the corner of his eye, he saw the shell-encased charm. No, he shook his head. For now, he would not dwell on that. He was talking (in between gasps).

"It will fade, I imagine," she offered rather than infer that the problem rested with him instead of the pup. Although from how the pup nipped at its meal, it had clearly not suffered from such meager play like the buck did.
She nodded her head, "Thankfully, it was an easy task." Which it had been but she hoped it seemed that it was once more a lucky coincidence. Although perhaps she did not need to be so vague with this buck. Habits were hard to break.
"Thank you for watching them, we'll be on our way soon," she added, an afterthought.

Hero nodded his head, "It was my pleasure," even if it did wear him out. "I do not want to be keeping you. But if there is anything else you needed, please don't hesitate to ask!"
He gestured toward the shell, "and I thank you from the core of my heart for helping keep the talisman safe until I can get it fixed!"

"I will keep that in mind," although she wasn't sure she could think of anything that would have her seeking out his help. Nevertheless... "Mm, you're welcome," she nodded her head and then perhaps because of how exceedingly genuine Hero seemed, she added, "and good luck."
Once the pup had finished its fish -- the delicate bones scattered and the tail fin most recognizable -- the doe began to move off. The elder hound had the sense to stop its devouring and take the meal in its jaws before following, while the younger paused to look at the red buck before bounding after it's mother. And it was almost like the doe had never been there.

Hero looked watched them leave and then looked fondly at the shell holding the talisman. Now, only to get this fixed....
