Aleu remained silent for some time, thinking over just how to answer Calfuray's question. Though she could stand here all day, if not for several days on end, telling the mare everything she knew about the herd and everything about Calfuray herself, in the end it boiled down to whether Calfuray took those facts as truth or a masterfully spun tale by a herd story teller. Aleu would never lie about ones past, but there was no way to prove that outside of Calfuray trusting her and being shown the way home - assuming that home was indeed still there as Aleu remembered it. Biting her lip Aleu was unsure what to say. All the stories in the world could not tell her what to advise Calfuray to do.
Finally with a soft sigh Aleu spoke. "I can't tell you what to do, no one can. Any decision you make must be your own. But given your unique circumstance I can only make suggestions. You know a bit about the herd now, from what I told you, and a bit about yourself as well. We are honor bound to serve the Queen and our Sisters, but it is also not the only life to lead. I will never turn my back on the herd, no matter what has become of it, it is my heart more than anything else that leads me home. And it is your heart, I think, that you should listen to." In the end it would be up to Calfuray to decide. She didn't need to make her choices this very moment, it could be today or weeks or months or even years from now, but it was up to the purple mare to choose. "You might not know the answer your heart is telling you right away, but in the end that is the way to choose whether to stay here or return home." Glancing at the ocean for a moment Aleu could understand if Calfuray chose to stay here, it was beautiful in a way and quite suiting for the purple mare. With a sigh she returned her gaze to Calfuray and smiled. "No matter what you choose I will accept it, as will the others."

That the grey mare did not instantly attempt to take advantage of Calfuray's indecision and vulnerable state to push her own agenda said a lot about the mare's character. It made Calfuray trust her just a little bit more then she had up until now. The advice the mare did give was worth listening to however and Calfuray took a few moments to mull it over in her mind.
Really when she thought about it however - and she realized that she had been thinking about it subconsciously since the mare had told her the story - there really only seemed to be one decision worth making. If she stayed here she would loose nothing..but would gain nothing either. If she went with this mare there was a chance to gain something and still loose nothing in the process..she could after all always return here to her beach if it turned out that the grey mare had lied or that life in the herd was not for her. Snorting slightly the purple mare fixed the grey with a confident look.
"It seems to me that there is only one clear choice. I can always return to the beach..but I may never get the opportunity to go with you again. The chance to gain something seems the wiser choice then remaining as I am now"

A smile grew across Aleu's lips. It was the answer she had been hoping for if she was completely honest with herself, though no matter what Calfuray chose she would have been happy. In the end it was the mares choice, the fact that she had provided information that had helped that decision was pleasing. "You're right. I can show you the way and if you decide life here on the beach is better than you can come back here once more." It would be sad if that happened but at least by that time Calfuray would have seen things for herself with her own eyes and would have made a well educated decision. Casting her gaze up at the sky Aleu realized it was quite late in the day. If they headed out now they wouldn't get too far before needing to find a place to settled down for the night.
"We can leave first thing in the morning if you like. A bit late to start now." She suggested, plus she was certain that Calfuray would appreciate one final night in the place she had called home for some time now before setting out on this long journey. It would take them quite some time to travel to their old home, especially with Calfuray being ground bound, so there was no real rush to taking that first step.

Calfuray nodded her agreement to the other mare's plan, she liked her beach it was true but she was not so attached to it that she would feel terrible when she left it either. "I know a place where we can spend the night in relative comfort" She shared with the grey mare before motioning with her muzzle and leading her in the proper direction. They would start off in the morning and sometime after that Calfuray might possibly have a few more answers...perhaps some of these other sisters would recall how and why Calfuray had wound up on the beach alone.
