Dorinkingu Hester Peche Dorinkingu Hester Peche Dorinkingu Hester Peche I live in a pretty big city. We also have a Whole Foods, and a lot of smaller independent organic/health food grocers. The number usually depends on the demographics of a city. Where I live there is a large population of hipsters, eco-minded people, yuppies and hippies. There's around 600k people in the metropolitan area where I live, but we only have a few organic stores. I mean, there's a decent variety of stuff I suppose, but some of it's pretty expensive @_@ oh well @_@ Well, where I live it's a very, very agricultural area. If I drive out of the city in the summer, like 20 minutes, I hit nothing but orchards and rice fields. Then in the other direction it's all animal farms, dairies, ect... So that probably has something to do with the cheapness of my meat and produce. Other things though...so expensive. The high-cost of my diet comes from having to eat completely corn-free. !!! I like corn D: Corn doesn't like me. I'm horrifically allergic to it... crying emotion_8c I may or may not be able to eat wheat... emotion_donotwant emotion_8c I'm sorry. That's awful. sad I would die of starvation if that ever happened to me...

I think what he's getting at is.. well, humanely treated animals before they're dispatched in a humane manner, per se.
As for my local community, I'm lucky enough to live in a semi-rural Texas town that has its own family-owned and operated butcher. They kill the free-range-natural-fed animal of the day in a quick, simple fashion, and divvy him up accordingly.
I'll admit, I'm a big meat eater, but I try to make sure that all of my meat comes from an establishment like this one!

I try and only eat free range naturally fed chicken, but it's near impossible in my house. Once I move out I will probably do a lot better with my 'healthy' endeavour. I don't mind eating meat aside from chicken, but I can't eat eggs. I mean, I look at them and nearly get sick. I can't stand the thought that this thing could have been fertilized and grown into a living thing. I mean, it didn't even have a chance to live. My parents are too cheap when it comes to food. They'd rather get a deal than help the planet. Although one good thing they do is take the meat that the store can no longer keep due to time regulation, so it doesn't get thrown out. (It's not like it's bad or anything, they are just no longer allowed to sell it after a certain amount of time unfrozen and what not.)

I'm just like "yay ._.;" my efforts have finally proven fruitful sweatdrop

My parents are way too cheap, so much that it pisses me off, but they do have good qualities so I deal with it. A few days ago they decided that we should eat healthy, but they don't want organic. >.>

The difference is, theirs are delicious with ketchup and a side of bacon ;D An egg that is already laid cannot be fertilized, nor can an egg that is still inside the chicken but has formed the hard shell. Harvesting an egg does not prevent it from being fertilized; the lack of a male chicken does XD My parents decided to go "healthy" before, too. It's a good first step on the way to organic ^^ Once they start feeling healthier and liking the healthy stuff, remind them how much more healthy organic stuff is, and how bad "normal" stuff actually is ;D

sezuko But if it hadn't been harvested and such it might have been fertilized. Anyway it bugs me. no. this is just ignorant. my pullet Gina is the only chicken I own, and we have no c**k or cockerel. Her eggs will never have the chance of being fertilized. a lot of people who raise chickens have no cocks in their flocks. Do women's periods also bug you? same thing. just because an egg can be fertilized doesn't mean it will be.

Well that's good to know. sweatdrop Cause I didn't before. It probably wont bug me any more because I know it is silly to let it bug me. I had no clue how a chickens body worked, so I just assumed. I think I also wanted to make myself feel bad on purpose because I have these 'I wanna be a vegan' streaks every now and again but I have very little motivation. sweatdrop So I was a little confused about it. Sorry I don't know how the ******** a chickens body works. And yes, women's periods DO bug me, but for different reasons. (They ******** hurt, they make you bitchy, and many of the women end up being horny as ******** but unable to do anything about it during that week.)

Or at all. Just eat animal stuff when you feel like it, and avoid it when you feel like it XD

Don't make declarative statements when you do not have the facts in order. If you are making a statement about basic elementary school level biology, it is not unreasonable to assume you would actually know what you are talking about. And you probably shouldn't make blanket statements as not all women's menstruation have the same symptoms. Also, would you refrain from using gender slurs? It makes you look like a sexist, and it doesn't speak well to intellect. On a slightly light note, if you use a menstrual cup you can indeed have sexy fun times while on your period, if that helps solve that problem for you. Just non-penetrative sexy fun times.

latest meat i had was on a pizza, or salmon burgers.
If i bought meat though itd preferably be free range or wild.
Even farmed salmon isnt supposed to be good because they dont have omega fatty acids and such even if it doesnt have mercury.

I must be immature, because I laughed at the last thing you wrote. Or I'm tired. If I never mentioned things that I didn't know everything about, I would never talk. Because after all I am human, and can't know everything. (Of course I am always open to learning new things.) Gender slurs? Which one? (I am being completely honest, I have no idea which word or slur you are referring to.) Besides, I'm not sexist, far from it in fact. Although, I do tend to contradict myself.

Most of the meat in my diet comes from wild hunted elk or locally pastured swine. The pork is expensive, but the relatively low cost of having my own game processed (plus gifts from friends who hunt for sport and have picky wives) offsets the cost. I also eat a lot of eggs from my hens, and we fish the streams for brook trout, which are an incredibly tasty invasive species in this area. Though this time of year I tend to let the man do most of the fishing while I wander around picking raspberries, huckleberries, blueberries, rose hips, watermelon berries, etc. I like to serve the fish with some root veggies from the garden and warm local apricot & wild-berry salad - I call it "the bear's dinner."
