She didn't hesitate as she nodded. She would do anything he asked, always had... that hadn't changed.... she loved him. She made a mistake, but everyone made mistakes, hers just weighted so heavy on her heart and mind that she feared it would crush her.

He nodded and sighed looking at her. "Take a protector with you in future.... when you work... I know its a private time for a family but its also a risky time, the mare is helpless, as are the foals, you and the father, if he is there, are distracted. I... would feel more at ease knowing that someone was watching out for danger for you." Looking down, knowing he was asking a lot. "You, the girls... your safety will always be my priority, no matter what position your father gives me.... Only when I know you and them are safe can I worry about everyone else."

She looked at him with slight disbelief, not because of what he was asking but because he seemed to be interested in fixing it... not just blaming her for her mistake. She didn't think she would ever be able to see past the pain she had caused, she nodded again, taking a moment to consider his words. "But.... they would have to keep a distance." That wasn't for her but for the mother, she hoped that Sonnet understood... after all he had been there while their own babies had been born. However she wasn't about to turn Sonnet down... not while he was making an effort. She wanted to fix things, and would give it everything she had to do so. They couldn't 'ignore' things, or it would just get worst.

Sonnet nodded giving her a slight somewhat rueful smile. "I didn't think having them looking over your shoulder would be for the best... I'd not have wanted another peering at you when.... uhhh." Blushing a little at the unexpected posessiveness he had just shown, remembering the birth of his daughters. "Its a private time, I more than understand that.... But just around, we can sort the details out later once I've taken this to Maion and Drashi, but its for more than just your safety and I'm sure they will be all for the idea.... Maybe then we can all talk it over about whats an acceptable distance for you and the mother and whats acceptable for safety..." He shrugged, the idea of watching another mare giving birth terrifying, having been scared half to death for what he had put Chan through. Looking at her again this one thing he very much wanted for her. Having a lot to tell her thinking maybe if he admitted to his own feelings it might help her.

Chandra couldn't help the little giggle at his tone, she still remembered the day their girls were born, could still remember the protectiveness; and although he may not admit it part of her suspected he wouldn't have wanted anyone near her while she was that vunderable... but maybe she was wrong. Supressing the giggle before it offended him, she didn't want to make light of the conversation or situation, it was serious after all... she looked up at him, her eyes catching and holding his. "Ok.... well... let me know what my Father says, or I can ask." She nodded softly.

She felt her heart race, she had been about to nuzzle him as he spoke about finding his place but he beat her to it. She smiled against his neck, hiding her nose in the warmth of him. She had missed this.... oh she had missed this! "You have already earned your position. You are as much a member of the herd, a protector as anyone else." She didn't mention that thie eldest Heze wanted to join him that position.... she wasn't sure if he knew, though he probably did given that she would hide in the bushes. Crown had told her, he was also keeping an eye out and watching out for Heze... of course... she wasn't quite the same now though, Heze had been sticking to Auva like glue.
As he spoke about how he felt her heart cracked, the fog fading a little as she considered everything. She forgave him. She would probably forgive him everything... including if he ever broke her heart, even as she continued to hope that he wouldn't. She kissed his cheek, deciding no words were needed.

He leaned into her a little, heeling her kiss, some of that cold feeling inside him melting. "I was scared Chan... I've felt so lost and alone and my north star was so far away... Theres nothing to forgive you for because you didn't do anything wrong really, I just wish I had known. I wish they had come here.... I wish that you had taken someone with you to watch Auva just in case... but thats all would haves and could haves and should haves... none of it helps.... I could have lost you both and that would have killed me inside... Zaniah and Heze would have grown up with their father a broken mess because I don't know if I could have held myself together, even for them...." His voice cracking as silent tears escaped him, he hadn't been sad at the losses of the herd memebers, he hadn't known them but the idea of the loss of her and Auva, the terror had frozen him to the core so he had been unable to do anything. Buring his nose in her mane feeling very weak for crying.

Chandra's heart smashed, the fog clearing until she saw only one thing... Sonnet. He needed her. She knew that feeling so well, and although she may not be able to do much, and eventhough she couldn't make the pain simply go away, there was one things she could do! She could hold him, love him, cherish him! She held him, pulling him closer as he weeped into her mane. Chandra didn't comment on his tears, she didn't see them as a weakness, didn't see him as less of a man. If anything it made her appreciate him more. "I love you Sonnet." She said, her own tears starting to slow.

Sonnet nuzzled into her, her words like a balm, he had known she would still love him, but everythign had been such a mess he had been afraid that love was not enough. "I love you too Chan, my north star, mother of my children.... I'm lost without you. I've loved you since we were foals, though it took me a while ro realise it... I loved you then I love you now and I'll love you till the last star falls from the sky and time itself ends." Not prone to such fanciful language he was more a stallion of deeds than words but he had shown her in all ways he could that he loved her, and so now he would tell her untill he thought of more ways to show her.

Chandra snuggled into him, a smile on her lips that simply wouldn't be shifted by anything. He still loved her! And those words lifted her very soul. She didn't know of any words that would compare to those of his, he wasn't usually one for too many words... and that just made each and everyone of them all the more special. "I love you." She whispered into his mane, her smile soft but true.
