"I agree... That some were lucky enough to survive is a great boon." That he had survived was little short of a miracle, perhaps, but yet there he was, strong in spite of his old age.
Yet, he would have given his old, fragile life for any of these children in an heartbeat.
"Why are you so curious about that man, at any rate ?" He finally did venture to ask, after he was done pouring the tea out. Certainly there was more to it than just helping out some strangers she'd barely met, no ?
"To chase after a man who dare call himself God... Certainly there is more to the story than that, young lady ?"

Cosine gave him a bit of a sheepish look. She was still acting of course, well, adlibbing perhaps, but trying not to give the game away. If they were suspicious of a man pretending to be a god, they would likely be suspicious of her even being an actual goddess. "Well, I will admit. I had heard of him. In the last town they spoke of this man. I have to admit I am curious to what he has to offer. We have nothing, he offers shelter and possible protection? How can we know that this is really the end of all the trouble? It could be the calm before the storm."

"So you believe him, then ?" Hn. Maybe she saw something that they had not. It was quickly becoming obvious that she knew something he did not, but what ?
"That is true." They had no way too know, really, what the future might being. He was not gifted in divination, after all. But he could not help but be more vigilant, less trusting than the young lady in front of him, through he could not deny that there was a chance she might be right.
"I was not aware he had wandered, through... Well, he did have some with him where he first came here." It made sense, really.

"I only know what i have been told." It was actually quite hard, remembering what she had said, or not said. What she wished to discover and trying to keep his trust. "I suppose, we feel it may be worth a try. We're tired of running. It would be nice to find a community to settle within." It was easy to invent a future too. A mortal couple, looking for a good place to settle and good people to raise their children around. "I am not sure I believe he is a god though, that does seem far fetched."

"Well, so far I can say we'd definitively like to have you both, if your husband has values similar to your own." The tea cup was finally brought to his lips, and the old man seemed pleased with his brew.
"Well, if it is attention that he seeks, then he clearly has it." Daiki saw no need for such brazen claims, really. If you wanted to help then... Just help !

Cosine smiled. "Thank you and yes, he does have similar values." She sipped her tea and glanced out of the kitchen window to the trees outside. "I think that we could be quite happy here." She nodded in agreement at his observation of the man. He had gotten the attention of the town. "Thank you Daiki, if there's anything you need doing myself of my husband would be happy to help you out."

"Be careful, lady." He said, simply, watching as she gathered herself to leave. He could not stop her, no... He could only hope that he was simply being overly careful, and that she was right.
Still, his instincts had rarely failed him before. "If you need anything, feel free to come here again. This old man doesn't do much with his time." He said, letting out a low chuckle.
