Taquin was prepared to dart behind the other side of his refuge of a tree as his attacker swerved back around to strike again. He should have been more careful about keeping himself hidden, but he hadn't expected there to be such a violent reaction to his presence. His legs tensed, ready to dash out of the line of fire, when a loud shout from behind had him flinch. He spun as the troll ran past him to confront his lusus, yelling at the top of his lungs to call off the attack. Just imagine what the poor thing must have been through to make it so jumpy and fearful of ambush. It was difficult to watch the creature struggle against his owner's hands, even if it was for Taquin's own safety. Once it had calmed he loosened his defensive posture and leaned against the tree. Hopefully if he remained relaxed the lusus would be able to settle its nerves and wouldn't go in for the kill. Possibly he could earn its trust.
The other troll turned to face him, and Taquin turned his attention to his grimy, upset, and weary face as he instantly accused him of... skulking? and trying to kill himself? The exasperation coupled with his strange accent really made guy's speech difficult to understand. Eh, it wasn't his fault though. Taquin would just have to communicate as best he could.
"I apologize for causing such an... uproar," he said, gesturing casually.
"I was merely attempting to survey the situation before I approached. You know how it is." -a quick once-over between the ruffled lusus and his mess of a troll-
"It's stressful out here. One must be on their guard." A friendly attempt at empathy should lower this pair's anxiety levels. Make them more comfortable.
