And there was what she expected to hear from the colt after the subject had originally been broached by her. His trainer had been punished with violence during her training, so she was continuing that trend with him. Of course hearing that the punishment came from spiders was even more shocking. His mother apparently had spiders that not only bite his trainer back when she was training but now they did the same to Agave. What a terrible thing. It was no wonder her parents took such care to keep her and her brothers safe and well educated in their home. It was to avoid running into such scenarios as the one this colt was explaining. She knew that violence occurred, mainly because her parents had told her about the evils of this world, yet this was her first true exposure to it, and that fact that it directly involved another foal pained Aquitaine greatly.
His question threw her off even more. She was barely recovering from the knowledge that spiders were used to torment him and his trainer and now he was wondering if her parents and trainer did the same. Well she had partially lied to him, she had no trainer, at least no official trainer. Her parents did all the training in her life teacher her their ways, but she was not going to point that out now, as that would likely turn the conversation down another path she was not prepared to deal with. Slowly she shook her head. "No," she said, her voice a bit unsteady at the start. "They don't have any pets. At least none that I have seen yet." And while she had heard that many soquili had animals that befriended them, becoming their familiars Aquitaine doubted that Agave's mothers spiders were truly. Whatever they were, she had no desire to ever meet them. The filly remained quiet, unsure of what else to say and half fearing what else the colt may expose her to from his life of torment.

"Your lucky then" He told her sincerly "Punishments wouldn't be nearly as bad if I didn't have to deal with the spiders too" He added and then suddenly afraid that he was once again going to come off as a bit of a pansy he puffed up a bit "Of course I can handle it regardless" He assured her in a proud voice.
All this talk of punishment however was making Agave more then a little bit aware that he'd been gone for quite a while - if he stuck around much longer he was sure to be found and any hope he might have of sneaking back home undetected would be gone. It would be worse if they caught him talking to one of the valley soquili - and he didn't want to think about what would happen to his new friend. He didn't want his mother to feed her to the spiders, he rather liked the filly. Well there was only one thing to do then and he sighed slightly.
"I have to go" He told her "If I don't I'll get caught..or they'll find me talking to you and I'm really not supposed to talk to others" Glancing around quickly he stepped away from the filly and started back up the path at a smart trot, a few steps in however he paused and looked back at her "Good-bye!" He told her quickly before scampering off again at full speed.

Aquitetaine could only nod and try to act as though Agave did, that punishments such as he received were not anything to be afraid of and that they were quiet common place. On the contrary her mind was reeling. She could tell he didn't like the situation he had been trust into, he may act brave and say that the beatings weren't that bad, that swamp water while gross tasting was nothing, but she could see the truth in his eyes and hear it in his words. He didn't deserve what was happening to him, but there was little she could do in this moment to prevent it from happening to him again.
Just when she was sure he would talk about some other horrible situation his trainer and mother put him through the colt suddenly announced that he had to go. In a way she was relieved, now she could digest what had happened, what they had talked about and figure out where to go from there. Yet another part of her was scared for Agave and scared for herself if he didn't return quickly enough. What would happen if his trainer or mother had been watching them from a distance, concealed by the trees? Would they attack him for talking to a stranger? Or would they come after her? In the time these thoughts flashed through her mind Agave had already taken off and she barely registered his goodbye. A solid shake of her head snapped her out of her daze. "Goodbye!" She called out to his retreating for. "And be careful." She added as a whisper. Aquitaine hoped he would be careful, hoped he would not be punished for what he had done today.
Speaking of which, this eye opening experience was far from over. Aquitaine turned and raced back towards the trees where she had entered this small clearing. She desperately needed to find her parents not only to be comforted by them but to talk to them about this and figure out what, if anything, they could do the help out Agave and free him from his current prison. Plus she didn't want to stick around in case there was an angry mare lurking in the distance ready to pounce when she turned her back on them. Aquitaine didn't get a chance to look back at her new friend as she dived into the trees, feeling slightly safer now that she was not out in the open, but until she was at her parents side she would be fearful of any sight, smell or sound along the way.
