Beloved Stargazer

The trip was more or less uneventful - they got to the main path easily enough, and once there, well, it was easy enough to follow. And now, he could see Darnassus in the distance, and he felt an odd mix of happiness, excitement, and apprehensiveness. He was glad to be home, but at the same time... Had Illisia told them anything ? Would he have to explain where she was ? He didn't want to have to do that.

"We're almost there." He tried to distract himself. "Just don't be offended if people end up staring, okay ? I doubt anyone's ever seen someone like you before."

"What, you don't have half-werewolves here?" she teased, laughing. Really, staring would probably be okay. She was going to be staring, too! The only trouble she'd have was if anyone was mean, not that she thought they would be. She never though that of anyone.

"Not that I know of, no." He said, amused. Well... There were worgen... But it wasn't really the same thing, was it ? And a... great deal less cuddly than Adrienne. Not that he knew much about the cursed humans - he'd left not so long after the first few had arrived.

When they entered Darnassus proper, Elik did dismount - if only because, well, he certainly wasn't used to riding on horseback ! It hadn't been unpleasant, just... strange.

The city... Well, it was the same, but also different. What had been broken had been rebuild, and everything that had died was now alive again.

While Elik dismounted, Adi stared, stunned into rare silence. For a moment, she barely even registered that she was suddenly the only one still on the erras. Once she did, she snapped her mouth shut and slid off, stretching her long legs.

She then proceeded to bounce a little, having some trouble forming coherent words for just how amazing this was. "It's so cool!"

Eloquent she was not, but she made up for it with sheer enthusiasm.

Elik did smile - really, Adi was contagious in so many ways, sometimes. "There are... two persons I would like to see first, if you don't mind ?" From the wording, it was obvious that he did expect her to come with him. And well, they wouldn't remain unspotted for long, of this he was certain. Better to try to see Meridia and Kaltyran before they got surrounded.

"Sure! I'll go anywhere!" It was true, really - she'd follow Elik anywhere he asked, without hesitation. And she always liked meeting new people, anyway!

"I will go and rest, and return to Rio. If you would take your things?" Caoin suggested.

Adi quickly undid the straps, freeing the erras from his burden, and frowned when one of the bags seemed to peep when she dropped it on the ground. Immediately suspicious, she opened it, and out popped a very mussed-looking floox. The winged creature chittered at her in a scolding tone, although she wasn't sure if it was because she'd dropped him, or because he'd been stuck in the bag for so long. "Hey! You were supposed to stay home!" Nonetheless, she scooped him up. "Fine, I guess you're staying, since you're already here. Phlox is gonna be really mad, though, you know."

Likewise, Elik did gather move to gather the errais' burden. There was none of his belongings there, since he didn't really have any, beside the cat figurine that he carried in his pocket, but he could shoulder some of it nonetheless. "I figure two weeks will be long enough for us to see to everything." He nodded. It would be long enough to explode Teldrassil in full. Weither it would be just to pick up Adi, or not...

Well, he really wasn't sure.

Then one of the bundles peeped, and Elik did freeze for a moment. Then, he just laughed at their stowaway was revealed. "Oh, my... You might want to keep a close eye on him, through. We use great cats as mounts and they... Well. Might see your little friend here as a snack."

Wouldn't be a good idea, no.

Two weeks! Yes, that sounded like it would probably be enough time. Not that she was likely to object if it were more than that, but...two weeks was a good minimum. Caoin nodded, and departed without further ado.

"You hear that, Rhodos?" she said sternly, horrified by the thought that her pet might end up a snack. "You stay with us, or something'll eat you." Making a sound of assent, the floox climbed onto her shoulder to ride there.

"You ride big cats, really?" One more awesome thing to add to the pile.

"Yes. They are quite smart and easily trained, through... Well, they remain animals. They don't really discern 'pet' from 'snack'."

She would get to see for herself, of this she was certain. Maybe even get to ride one, if he could see to it.

He lifted the bigger bag on his back and started to walk down toward the city proper - there was the shape of a very large tree in the distance. "We're going to see two Meridia and Kaltyran - the high priestess and the archdruid, respectively." This still seemed odd to him, odd to think that these two, whom he had been close to all his life, were now such important figures. "They were very close to Illisia, and... kind of like an aunt and an uncle to me." He clarified, but not without the familiar heartache that came whenever his mother was mentionned.

"The archdruid?" That was extra-exciting, and Adi's tail wagged a little harder as she lifted the other bag, settling it on the shoulder Rhodos hadn't perched on as they walked. "So they're sort of like my Uncle Ea and Aunt Echo, then."

"Yes... Kinda like that." He hadn't even thought about it like that - but well... It seemed like it was a common practice. Of course, it made him wonder how his actual aunt was doing... But. Better to present himself officially, first...

Well, in a way. He knew Meridia would probably be furious if she learned of his return from an outside source.

Once the mismatched pair come closer, it became obvious that the large tree was actually a building, in a way - and that most of the building in Darnassus were made of trees willingly coaxed in the right shapes - with one of the exception being the temple that was in the distance. There were night elves - so many of them, probably, for Adi who had only ever seen two, and never at the same time - and yes, they all seemed quite puzzled as to what she was.

Tree-buildings! How cool! They were even better than she'd imagined them, and she could hardly wait to get a closer look at them. Adi "eee'd" quietly at the sight, and over just how many night elves there were. They were all so pretty, with their different shades of skin and hair, and their markings... She did notice the puzzled looks she got, since she was paying so much attention to the elves themselves, but it didn't bother her. She just stuck close to Elik, and even waved a little.

Some were just dumbstruck - but a few, especially the children, did wave back, clearly excited to see such a strange lady ! One little boy did ask his mother if he could go pet her, in darnassian, which made Elik chuckle. The mother refused, obviously, but he doubted that Adi herself would have minded.

Eventually, they came to the entrance of the temple, and Elik paused. Really, he had... no idea how this would go. "Alright..." He took a deep breath, tried to steel his nerves, then stepped inside.

It was pretty dark, inside the building - night elves saw best in the darkness, after all - and there were two figures inside - one, a white haired female with face marking identical to those Illisia had, conversing with a taller, dark purple haired man, who bore quite a few scars and, by the looks of it, was missing an eye.

Even then, he seemed to be the first to notice. "Elik ?!"

It did not take much more than that to catch Meridia's attention. "Elik ! Oh, you are alive !" She made a beeline straight for him, then paused - having finally noticed Adrienne. "And brought a friend, it seems ?" What a... strange little girl ! "Who might you be, little one ?"
PostPosted: Sun Feb 19, 2012 7:28 pm

Oh, the kids were SO CUTE. Adi desperately wanted to play with them, especially since they seemed friendliest, but she would have to save that for later. They had things to do first!

This was all almost overwhelming, her attention pulled in every direction, but fortunately, she had the energy and enthusiasm to spare for it all, even if she was probably going to be very tired by the end of the day. The male night elf - the archdruid, she assumed, since he couldn't possible be the high priestess - looked really cool. Of course, getting all those scars and losing an eye had probably hurt...which tempered the coolness factor, somewhat.

When the woman noticed her, she smiled brightly and wagged her tail. "Hi! I'm Adi."

Under other circumstances, she might have launched into further explanation, but they seemed really happy to see Elik, so she probably shouldn't take over.

"Adrienne is a friend of mine." He said with a nod. "And my... student, and the student of my mother, before that. I figured it might do her a whole lot of good to come here." After all, there were many more druids here, infinitely more skilled than he was - Kaltyran, for one.

Meridia was quick to understand. "So, Illisia is..."

"Gone." Elik nodded, unable to keep the pain from his voice. In a way... This was better, that they were aware. He hadn't wanted to explain.

"I see." Meridia said, softly, calmly. She had seemingly made her peace with it long ago, in a way the son hadn't been able to yet. "They saved us... Glyph, Illisia... and her dragon." Really, there was an harshly-learned grace in the way she took it. She was visibly sad, but little of it slipped in her voice. She sounded like someone who had lost many.

Illisia had taken a student ? It wasn't something he had been aware of, but then again, he hadn't asked. Such a charming little lady ! "Adi, then. I look forward to seeing what you know, later on. Better let you take in the sights first, hm ?"
