"Wow, eight of you. There's four of us. My older sister, and we've got two younger siblings, though we live with a few other families so I suppose it's like having a huge family." He was beginning to feel more and more relaxed. When Xun revealed himself to be a god Ifan nodded, not nearly as taken aback as he was when Phaedre had informed him. "Not a whole lot, just that there are many of you, gods i mean."

"Not as many as there used to be, certainly..." Really, he seemed to know so little, and while he knew of more... There were some quite clearly missing. Where was Rivers, for one ? Surely they'd once known each other ?
One of Water was supposedly reborn, but where was he ?
The dragon king did lead Ifan outside the garden, and toward what was clearly a small town.

"Oh?" Ifan was curious. Until that point he had generally assumed there was one god and even then he had not really believed in him? He had been something that people had made up to explain, to make themselves feel better about things. "Um, what are you the god of? If you don't mind me asking?" He did not want to be rude. Especially when this god could probably smite him or something? Wasn't that what gods did?

"Yes." He nodded for emphasis. "I am not quite certain where the belief in only one god did arise from... The ages where my Master stood alone, maybe." The way he said master spoke of longing and devotion both.
"I am Ti Lung, one of the nine dragon kings." He started to explain. That was always interesting to do so, especially if the recipient had little knowledge of the true gods to begin with. "We serve Lord Harmodius, who is Creation and Destruction both. I represent the life aspect of water, and the rivers of the earth." Well, that was the condensed version, at the very least.

Ifan listened to him as they walked towards the village. It just got stranger and stranger. So they had a master, Creation and Destruction. Well, maybe that explained a few things. "Dragon kings? You mean like a real dragon?" He smiled a little. "The symbol of my country is a dragon. Rivers and water though, life, that's very important."

A real dragon ? That question was... well, cute. There were fake dragons ? Well, lesser wyrms, really, but still.
"Yes, a real dragon." He did say, once the initial amusement had passed. "And each and every one of us are important, in their own ways." He did not consider himself more important than the rest of his brothers, not really. The other gods were more specific in their influence, but just as needed.

"Wow." He was pretty impressed dragons? no one was going to believe him when he finally got home. "I would never have thought that Gods would live among mortals like this. In stories they live high up, like a sacred mountain or in the clouds. So there's no heaven then?"

"Some are more prone to it than others. Some stay close, some have their own realm and influence. There was such a place that you speak of, before, a long time ago..." He knew this, and yet could not bring forth images, no memories of the pantheon of old.
"Oh, there are. Or were, perhaps." If that had been Universe's station... Well, it probably did exist again, even if there was no godly influence other than his Master's behind it. "How much where you told about gods, Ifan ?"

"Gods like you? Um, not much. Phaedre told me there were many, some of numbers." He smirked a little, what kind of weird gods they would be. Um, the mortals that I spoke to. They told me a little more, that you're all newly born? It's all quite hard to take in."

"There are indeed many reborn, through some are more distant than others." He said with a nod, as the familiar shape of the market was quickly becoming visible at the horizon.
"And that is also right. We are all newly born." Some morso than others, of course, but he saw no need to specify that. "This is the reason most of us do dwell here on this plane, at least for now." To thive meant to be known, to be remembered. He was uncertain that power of old could be assumed through seclusion.

"So, why are you being reborn? Did you all die?" He knew he was probably asking incredibly silly questions but he was curious. He wouldn't be much of an engineer if he didn't have some curiosity within him. "Sorry, I know I'm asking a lot of questions, i like to know how things work. Though when it comes to gods I suppose we should just believe?"

"Nearly all. At the end only one, my Master, remained. We are reborn because He deemed it time, saw that the worlds were ready to believe, again." That was what he thought, at least. He also would not begrudge Harmodius if the reason was one of loneliness. To stand, alone, for ages...
"And mortals tend to be very curious, as most immortals." Was the amused answer that Ifan's apology had earned him. "To seek answer is not wrong, not really. We have been gone, faded for ages upon ages, and the only thing that remain of us is myth and legend."

"Well, welcome back." he smiled. They were drawing closer to the town. he could smell the smoke from fires and hear the noises of life. It seemed that they were in luck there appeared to be a small market in the town. A few makeshift stalls. He wondered if they might have what he would need. Possibly not. "You have a master though? So you are not equals?"

Indeed, the market was small, through he'd often found himself surprised by it's contents, or by the resourcefulness of the mortals that had ran it. Ifan would not quite know if his search was fruitless until he did, in fact, ask.
"Thank you." He said, clearly a little amused. "Well, the dragon kings are different. We were made to serve Him, you see, raised from hatchlings for this very purpose, in times long gone." He did not consider it a bad fate - in fact, he seemed perfectly content with the world and his role in it. "The other gods are more specialized than he, but do not serve as we do." Most did respect at least one side of the crown, as they rightfully should.

"That makes sense I suppose." Ifan was reminded of his history lessons in school. Kings and knights. Emperors and advisors. He let his eyes run over the market. He could see just from glancing that there were some interesting goods on display, he could imagine it might take him a while, bargaining. "I'm guessing that people barter for payment here as elsewhere? Items for items, not currency like before?"
