Dainichi looked at her out of the corner of his eye for a moment a soft blush creeping up under his fur. "It is sad, yes, but it is also very romantic. Because no matter what they always sit on the banks of the sky's river staring longingly into each other's eyes, waiting for the moment they can be in the other's arms again." He turned slightly looking to the horizon rather then the heavens before he answered. "My favorite is Andromeda, the chained princess, but she can't be seen at this time of year. Her's is one of the few stories to have a happy ending."

Dainichi smiled softly as he thought of the story of Perseus and Andromeda. "It's a long story but I'll tell you as much as I can remember." He felt her tail brush over his own and blushed as he looked back to the stars. "So there was this princess and she gave birth to the son of a god. In order to protect himself the princess's father sent her and the baby far away. After some time they got to an island and were taken in by a kind man.
"The man was the brother of the king of the island, who had no wife. When the princess's son, Perseus, was a young man the king of the island, who was a very wicked man, wanted to marry his mother. In order to save his mother Perseus had to find the greatest gift of them all. Two of the gods came to help him by giving him to gifts, a shield that was mirror bright and a pair of shoes that could make you travel as fast as possible and that would never veer off course.
"Perseus." He paused and point to a group of stars just on the horizon, "those are his stars there. He went to go fight a monster who could turn a man to stone with her gaze, so he used the shield that the gods gave him to fight her with out ever looking at her. After a great and heroic fight he slew the monster by cutting her head off. It is believe that in his stars he still holds her head. Where her blood hit the ground a flying horse sprang out of the ground, which is a really cool, and there are other stars just below Perseus's stars that are the flying horse.
"Now he was still wearing the magic shoes that could 'fly' and would never go the wrong way, so he let the shoes take him were he was supposed to go next. At that time there was a queen, Cassiopeia, who boasted that her daughter, Andromeda was more beautiful then one of the god's daughters, so as punishment for Cassiopeia's slander the gods made her and her husband, Cepheus, chain Andromeda to a rock so that the sea monster Cetus could devour her.
"Perseus' shoes took him to he beautiful Andromeda just as the monster was about to eat her. So he took out the head of the monster he had killed and used it's powerful gaze to turn the sea monster to stone, the he took Andromeda home with him. When they returned to his home Perseus placed the head covered in a piece of cloth before the king then took his mother and Andromeda and left with them both. The king uncovered the head and he was turned to stone releasing the people of the island from his reign of terror. After a while he and Andromeda married. I think they ended up ruling too. I know that Andromeda's parents are both in the stars as well, but unlike Andromeda and Perseus they were put there as punishment." He stopped talking abruptly, feeling that his story had been to long and worrying that he had bored the pretty girl next to him.

Dainichi smiled shyly when she told him that he was fun, "Thank you." he whispered softly as he looked at the heavens, "The Twins Castor and Pollux also grace the heavens, one was the son of a mortal king and his wife, the other was said to be the son of the king of the gods and the same queen, which is why they're twins. When they died everyone was so sad that they placed them in the stars where they would remain together forever." He said as he felt his paw being gently squeezed, he jumped slightly and hoped she hadn't noticed he didn't want her to think that he didn't like her.

Dainichi nodded slightly, "yes Gemini. All of them have at least some kind of story, some are very short and some are much longer." He blinked owlishly when she asked about the morning star, "The devil? No, no he was called the morning star because of his rank as an angel, lucifer which translates ruffly to light bringer, before the fall, he later became the devil and after that was no longer referred to as the morning... The morning star, as it is in the heavens of the sky, is one of three things each that will appear in the eastern sky just before sun rise. It can be the star Sirius, or either of the planets Mercury or Venus, as they will appear to herald the sun rise." He had leaned in slightly as he spoke so that his head was almost resting on hers. One of his flicked slightly as he realized just how close he had gotten.

Dainich looked at her uncertainly for a moment before settling his head in slightly more comfortable way and just letting it be. "Pisces it a really short story. Two people with special powers were trying to escape from a monster, so they turned themselves into fish that were tied together with a rope and jumped into the stars." He said softly, it really was one of the shortest of all the stories that he knew about the stars.

"I did say it was short, as for fish it was the one thing the monster wouldn't eat I guess. The story doesn't really tell us that..." He said slowly as he thought about it. "It's okay if you don't know things, that just means there's room to keep learning. So you can ask questions, and I'll answer the ones that I can. I one story, but I've already told it... See the Milky Way is the sky's river that the shepherd and the milkmaid sit at the banks of." He smiled up at the sky and gently placed one arm around her shoulder.

Dai smiled softly, "Aries story, is long, and not really about Aries at all. See Aries was the golden fleece that Jason and the Argonauts went after." Some of the stars are just little parts of bigger pictures, he knew that, but at the same time he didn't want to disappoint her, "I can tell you that story?" He asked as he noticed her yawn, "Or we could sleep... If you want." He said, not really wanting to leave her, maybe they could sleep under the stars tonight...
