Clermelli-Pie would have pointed out that she was old and had grown cubs, and most of the males were younger than her cubs or spoke for, or just not interested. She would have, but then Pikelis and Sata started at it and she laughed her a** off. The lioness couldn't help it. The fact that Sata HADN'T gotten the meaning of the bird's words at first not only proved the bird's point, but made the comment all the funnier.
She probably should not have laughed so hard, but it was just too priceless. Big lion, owned by another little bird, but this time verbally. Poor Sata had his work cut out for him living that one down. Clerm took a few deep breaths to collect herself again and tried to wipe the smirk off her face. "I am so sorry for that... Pikelis, you should be nicer..." She chuckled a little as she tried to turn back to the comment earlier in the conversation. "Anymale would be lucky to have an older female with grown cubs that often worries more about bringing home game than following the 'rules of hunting' rather than a young female that is dedicated to the rules and ways of the pride?"
Pikelis gave a happy little chirp at Sata when he responded to her. "I am quite comfortable, Cloudhead." She looked over at Clermelli and sighed. "Oh come on, it was so easy. How could I let that slip by? It would have been a horrible waste! It is not my fault he has his head in the clouds, even if it does make him adorablely innocent." The bird put her wings around one of Sata's ears and 'hugged' him. "It is what we love about him!"

Well, Clerm seemed happy so Sata was happy as well. He couldn’t help but to smile when he heard her laugh though he wasn’t so keen on what she said after. He answered quickly and, as it was often the case when it came to the young lion, without really thinking. “Yes. Unless they’re blind. And even then I’m sure anyone would fall for that your gentle voice. I consider my mother one of the prettiest lionesses in the pride and she’s far from what you would call old – as are you. And you have enough beauty to rival any member of my family!” The little outburst done, Sata started to look mighty uncomfortable now. His next words were quieter and almost whispered, with Sata’s blue eyes suddenly fixed on one of his paws. “For the love of Eywa, Sister Clermellie! Haven’t you ever looked at your reflection in the water?”
His discomfort didn’t exactly ease when Pikelis spoke so loud about how “they loved him” though he did smile a little when his head was suddenly hugged by the feathered companion.
“Ah, we should return.” He cleared his throat and walked past Clerm, still avoiding her gaze. It wasn’t really time to go back to the home tree… he just felt awkward at the moment and strangely anxious.

Clermelli-Pie waited until Sata had passed her to bat at his tail playfully. Maybe it would make him smile. "I am glad someone thinks I am pretty, but really I have a lot of competition from females that are much more noticed, Brother." She grinned at him and fell into step beside him. "I have looked at my reflection quite often. I think I am just average... keep praising me and you'll start to sound like my brother. He had it in his head I was practically Eywa herself and no male was worthy. It made growing up interesting."
"It is natural to be embarrassed about saying such nice things about a female, Sata.... just so you know." Clerm wondered if he meant them. If he did, that was on one paw very nice and on the other a little odd. How could he like a female with cubs older than him? For that matter, how could he like a female that had been raised outside the pride? He knew only the pride and it's shelter. She should seem alien and strange to the male for speaking of things beyond his knowing. And yet she had a feeling he did not see her that way at all.
Pikelis spread her wings and flopped onto her belly so her beak and all was in the male's fur on the top of his head. She laid there for a little bit as he tried to make his way to home tree. "Mmm, fluffy... Clerm, we should keep him. He's all soft and fluffy." Of course to her any lion's mane was soft and fluffy, but she was suggesting it to see if the male would get more embarrassed. She was quite enjoying how the more embarrassed he got the more he blurted things that Clerm was enjoying hearing.

Oh no, Sata did not smile when Clerm batted at his tail. On the contrary, he felt his heart racing even faster than before. He had never been interested in a female before but even Sata was able to understand why he was feeling a little nervous to be alone with Clerm. Yes, he wasn’t that dense.
“Believe me, you have been noticed.” Sata whispered without looking back. He just kept walking, doing his best to ignore the words that came from above as they only served to make him feel a little worse. The way things were going, he realized he wasn’t going to make it to the home tree without making a complete fool of himself. He stopped abruptly and finally faced Clerm again. “I, huh.. this is where we part ways. I have to do something…” His job, maybe. “…before I return. It was nice seeing you, Clerm-… Sister.” He turned quickly and took a few steps out of the path and towards the dense jungle before he realized he still had his hat on. “It was nice seeing you as well, little one.”

Clermelli-Pie watched her friend leave and gave a sigh. He would come around eventually, but she worried about how long that might be. The lioness gave her head a shake and sat down to wait for Pikelis to return to her. She knew he would not want the bird to tag along while he sorted out his thoughts. They had flustered him enough for one day that he would need a good long time to sort them, she was sure. "It is always a pleasure seeing you, Brother... do not stay away too long... Pikelis might miss your fluff."
"It is nice seeing you, Cloudhead. You make a nice perch." Pikelis grumbled about having to move, but stood up none the less. She brushed a few stray fur strands back onto the lion before spreading her wings and taking off. The bird landed on her lioness' shoulder and sighed. "He'll be back... eventually. I promise you can talk to him before I pick on him again."
