So many? It seemed that there were far more of her species than he had known given by the number of children. He did not even try to keep up with the math, deciding that "more than six siblings" was good enough for him. And he had thought that Alexander's family had been large as he had had four. He nodded politely.

Then she brought up a topic that he could relate to. "I only recently learned that one does not require food to survive in Halloween, that fear will suffice. Still I enjoy the hunt as well. I always hunt because I have to feed Princess Eva, but recently when visiting Alexander's home I was able to hunt larger hallow deer. They were delicious." He smiled at her, an expression that showed off his pointed teeth.

"I need to thank you again for showing me you hunting spot. Have you done well hunting lately? Catch anymore corrividus?" He had asked her a question, though perhaps not the type of question that he was supposed to ask. But these questions were the important ones. Food and hunting were tasty topics indeed.

"Yeah, I guess they are--different, that is," Roch said, thinking about names and the one he claimed. "Scythe is a family name... like... My Granddad's name is Vegas Scythe, and my dad's name is Austin Scythe, see? It's sayin' we come from the same group." As much as he didn't want to admit it sometimes. "If I went by my weapon's name I'd be Roch Guitar," he added, somewhat fond of the name.

"Um... I don't think this is leadin' to anything else. I think this is just to get people to meet new people, cuz a lot of people don't know all the other students. Did you have... 'festivities' back where you're from?" he asked him. "Like, did you celebrate Scarentines?" Maybe he could explain it better from the other boil's experiences.

"I have actually been trying to lower my huntings, but I still do them - usually I just let go what I have caught? It is good exercise and then I do eat when really wanting. Are you getting better at hunting too, is it still fun?" It allowed her the thrill of catching things but not eating them, resulting in her losing weight and learning to control her appetite. It was a win/win really and Chuppi was pleased that she was getting more and more self-control as she got older. Perhaps eventually she wouldn't be hungry at all for anything anymore?

Pffft, yeah no - she was always going to want to eat and as proof of that her stomach whined with a muted growl. Her cheeks flushed a soft red-green and she tried to press along, hoping Yin wouldn't have noticed or even if he had wouldn't have made a big deal about it. Perhaps it was her turn to ask questions now, to keep things going. She'd asked about location and family and he'd asked about the hunt - weren't they supposed to ask things they didn't know about one another? Would that count, should she press on?

"Why do you call me Lady Temes? Most people do call me Chuppi. I mean...I do like being called my name it is a nice name, but most people do not use it. Why do you?" Was that really a question? It would make him answer things she didn't know.

She was staring at him. Sparrow's brow furrowed in confusion. Maybe squeezing her fingers while I shook her her hand was inappropriate? he thought, mentally trying to figure out her startled reaction. But I do that every time I shake someone's hand...

Eyes flickering, the faintest of a frown flashing very briefly over his face, Sparrow idly tugged on the cuff of his jacket.

"Jazz is rather nice," he said agreeably and smiled. "And I find anything screamy to be horrid."

Pushing a few strands of hair away from his face, Sparrow said amiably "What sort of thing do you find entertaining?"

Oh, Sparrow, it was best to not worry. Taryn rarely came in contact with polite boils, and being polite and friendly was a bit odd entirely. At least it seemed as if Taryn was calming with their conversation.

"I haven't heard much screamy stuff, really. I'm not sure I know anyone who listens to it frequently, but I know it exists," the ghoul nodded, and then gave a soft laugh. Oh boy. Her version of entertainment was a little different than the norm. "I... study. I love learning. Otherwise it's mostly long walks outside, music... ah, well. I'm afraid I'm not very interesting. How about you? What's your favorite class?"

This time a broader, pleased smile crossed his face, Sparrow giving Taryn a happy grin. "I love learning," he said brightly, and then added, a bit more sheepishly "Though, er...not many people know that about me, I suppose. I don't think I exactly give off that impression. Walks as well."

Tapping a finger on the table, Sparrow said, a bit ruefully, "I'm afraid I haven't been able to take many classes yet; I've found myself a little sick, but I did enjoy helping out in the library. Are there any classes you find to be more interesting than others?"

Lower her huntings? But...why? There were plenty of animals around the school, and he had not noticed a drop in the population. "I wonder if it would be more difficult to try to capture them gently so that they may be freed," he mused thoughtfully. It would possibly be good training, he would have to rely on refining his skills and holding back when necessary.

Lady Temes' stomach growled (or she was angry with him, though she did not appear to be), and that worried the mantodae. Hungry females could be quite testy, and every male mantis had learned that you kept females well fed or they very easily might bite your head off (figuratively of course...though there had been a few rumors...). He was momentarily distracted but she was asking him about her name. "I apologize Lady Temes, I simply prefer to call others by their given names. Where I came from names are carefully chosen for the individual, and our names carry some significance. If you wish for me to refer to you as Lady Chuppi I can, but otherwise I shall call you Lady Temes?"

He stood up suddenly, giving her a slight bow. "I apologize, but could you excuse me for just a moment?" He lingered briefly to see if she would give her assent but left whether or not she did, striding away quickly. In just a short moment he was back, carrying with him two glasses of sparkling blood, setting one in front of each of them before taking his seat again. "I must beg your pardon Lady Temes, with this much talking my throat was getting parched. I hope this is to your taste? Very smooth job of feeding the ghoul Yin.

Oh, and he was supposed to ask a question right? He quickly racked his brain before speaking. "Have you tried any of the games yet?" Thinking of questions might not have been his forte.

King looked at Roch Befuddled. "You are a 'Scythe' but your weapon is a guitar? That is a strange thing to me. But many customs are here." He idly flicked his ear again, resisting the urge to scratch it. "But if that is how you trace one's ancestry it must be effective to be used for what I assume in many generations. Where I am from, we trace our lines from the elders, who keep the tribe memory. And when one elder passes the memory to the next, lines might be cleansed or brought forth. Names have meaning to us, and to waste a name upon lineage when it does not dictate one's position seems a rather ineffective." He spoke plainly, without a hint of malice in his tone, but more a fascination for this revelation.

"But to answer your question about Festivities, we have the hunting of the hare, which pups and the ranks test their skill chasing down the show hare in a show of speed, agility, cunning, wisdom- It is a test as well, that the one who catches the most swiftest, most irksome hare is to be deemed fit to lead the next hunt in the gathering of FEAR. We also have the summer courtship season, though pumpkins are not brought to the pairs until late fall. It is a very different process than the ones here." He knew more but felt he had gone into to much detail already. "Pardon if I have driven to far into myself. Tell me, are their many days such as this where students might move about the school? And what this student council? I was told they host this event yet, they are not a part of the staff?"

"Oh?" Taryn asked, brightening visibly. Usually that little admission got her some strange looks and a lot of alienation. This boil, though... he seemed honestly interested? How nice!

"Ohhh... well. I'm not sure. I rather like acting class, but I'm apparently not very good. Even then, I... hm. I guess 'no', not really. I'll sit in on anything. Maybe I spend a bit too much time studying? Well, either way." The ghoul waved her hand dismissively and then nodded. "You should try botany! I don't know, I feel like you'd like it. Where are you from?"

"Well... It's both, see?" Roch said, reaching out his hand and summoning the guitar in question. "This is Desiree, my scythe, that just happens to be a guitar, see?" he said, bringing it up so he could see the sharp scythe like headstock. "And I guess it DOES sort of dictate position, cuz there's only one of us from each generation? Hell if I know," he finished with a shrug.

"But this is SORT of like a courtship thing," he went on, thoughtfully. "A lot of people are here lookin' for a prospective mate, or spendin' time with the mate they already got. But nobody's ready for pumpkins or anything. Then there's a lot of single guys and ghouls doin' this--makin' new pals, although I guess some might be lookin' for more." He wasn't, which was probably why he was so comfortable getting stuck with a guy.

"As for the student council... they're students like us, but we voted them in to deal with the school staff for us. So far they seem to be doin' alright. I wouldn't want the job, some of the teachers are downright crazy. Hey, have you thought about joining any clubs? We're supposed to have three, but I still only got one official one," he admitted.

Nodding his head solemnly, King was starting to grasp at it. "So it two things in one, rather than two different objects." He frowned. "If it was not already obvious, I am lacking in my knowledge of your race. I've been very.. isolated, as have many of my people. I keep getting told to get an 'eyephone' but I am not sure to what it would do for me." Aside from possibly get broken as he failed to understand how it worked.

"And I hope people are not ready for pumpkins. We are still pups here no? I find it simply queer that courtships would occur so young if that were the case. Mates are to be formed between those of the strongest and most powerful of a pack. At this time pups such as ourselves are far to young to determine if we are fit to mate. But it this is more upon kinship then-" his ear flicked again, "it is a good thing to be done. a pack is as only as strong as the bonds they share."

Talk of the student council made him pull back slightly. "You vote?" Now that was flat out shocking. "How does- I... I suppose this place is very... different. It takes getting used to." Very different, as he was learning with each minute. "But no, I have yet to join any clubs. They were only mentioned in passing. And which club might you be a part of?"

"An eyephone can come in handy, it'll definitely help you with makin' friends, if you start usin' groanspring. And I'm the president of the fright music club," Roch said proudly. "We play musical instruments--if you play one, I'd be happy to give you a listen," he said, letting his guitar dissipate. "And y'know, if it makes you feel any better I voted for the toughest guys running." He glanced over at Riley, in her short red dress, and raised an eyebrow slightly. "It's just a side benefit that they look good in skirts," he drawled with amusement.

Then he went back to the first subject. "I know what you mean, though, about the age thing. Hell, I just turned sixteen a couple of months ago. But it ain't... well, the whole permanent life long thing, like marriage. But honestly, that one is somethin' you'd be better off askin' a guy that's got a relationship. I'm still confused on that stuff," he said quietly, looking at his empty plate. "But I figure that means you don't got a ghoulfriend?" Or a boilfriend, he supposed.

"No, I...when I first came in I signed up for this talking thing. I suppose I could go try the games later they look to be fun. I have seen many people playing them?" Games were something she'd never tried before but she was pretty decent at things that involved timing, so perhaps she wouldn't do so badly? That is, if she went to play after all this talking was done. Maybe she could ask Yin if he wanted to play with her? She'd do that when this was all over.

Then he got up, went somewhere, and came back with some blood. ~Sparkling blood~. She'd never had blood like this before and she took a sip, sighing at the strange taste. It wasn't something she'd like always, but for now it would do. She nodded and spoke a word of thanks, moving along.

"As for it...I do not mind being called Temes, but it is the Lady part that confuses me. I am not used to a title, so please - do try to call me just Temes? If it is too hard to do I understand but would like it if you could."

Wait wait, these weren't really questions she was supposed to be asking. Ugh...well. "So, um....do you think you will join any of the clubs here at school? We have many of them."

Temes was good then, though the issue of her title was somewhat befuddling. When they had first met she had not wanted to be called Miss. He had obliged and switched to Lady. And now, she did not wish for that title either? He was not going to backtrack and call her Mistress, that was too much, but he was running out of options. Well...there was that one term, rarely used but it would be acceptable if he chose to use it now.

"Very well Mademoiselle Temes," he said, trying not to sound stressed at the title change. It was simply...such a long title. "Clubs?" he questioned, sounding slightly confused. He had heard about them, well, heard them mentioned, but had not joined any of them (that he knew of at least). "I do not know much about the clubs here, but I am not in any. I like to exercise and fight a lot but...are there clubs for that? Or what clubs are you interested in Mademoiselle Temes?"

"Please, please, just call me Temes. Nothing in front of it, just plain 'Temes'. You are making me nervous because I feel awkward." She didn't like raising her voice or getting upset, and her cheeks flushed super red with how she'd gotten loud and demanding, and she looked down at her feet. Sitting on the chair her legs couldn't even hang out so they were jutting off the edge, stick straight, and she turned her toes inward. "Lo...lo siento, I didn't meant to have raised my voice."

Now the chupacabra felt like a horrible, horrible person. She was just not wanting him to be so formal because she only wanted a friend but now he probably thought she was just so hardass. It would be best for her to move along in the conversation, and she took a drink of the blood again to work on it. Liquid courage never hurt anyone.

"For clubs, I am in the ...Track Team, and the Short people, and the Garden club. I should be more active and do many things but. . . . " She trailed off, taking yet another sip. "Did you...fight a lot back home? Was that part of your culture or do you just have it as a preference personal?"
