Tipping her head ever so slightly to the right Lyssa listened to the gentle wind blowing through the cemetery, her ears attuned to its ever flowing whispers as it carefully surrounded her. Her eyes were closed and her head moved with the breeze as it ran its fingers through her fur. It told her of memories long gone, futures yet to pass and the secrets it alone could ever know. She nodded and smiled. The wind was always chattering, you just had to learn how to listen and today was no exception. Today though it was asking questions of her.
"Hmmm? No, THaT one has Yet To awaken...no, no, They NEEd time still you see? They Fear it, but It would onlY take a MOMent...Yes..YeS, I know..."
She looked out over the hill she has sat upon, the grassy knoll overlooking a funeral taking place with mourners crying out their sorrow and the dead silent in their reply. Today she was getting a new friend and she couldn't understand the tears that fell. This was a happy occasion, one to be celebrated and enjoyed. But the mortals...they couldn't understand what their loved one had just achieved. The wind knew and the wind asked again its question.
"No, TheY don't See it LIke we do, one dAY, when they Join us, it will all maKe sense to THem."
She sighed unhappily. It wasn't often Lyssa could be put in a mood other then insanely elated and it wasn't exactly sadness that captured her mind. If anything she felt that this was the end of so many things and it was the emotion of a goodbye that struck her. Not of sorrow or joy, but a simple ending with the anticipation of something new. She knew what the wind was really asking her but she chose to ignore it, concentrating on what was happening over the ridge, pretending that it was the new neighbor she was gaining than the pressing quest that weighed heavy on her mind. She would be called for soon and she didn't know if she was ready.
With a start she tipped her head back the other way and listened instead to her other friends. Her friends who stayed underground and knew the turnings of the world, who, if anything, knew more than the wind. For the air was always chattering you see and sometimes it failed to listen to the steady beating of the earth.
And it could tell you oh so much, if only you were willing to hear.
Like the answer to a well known problem, an answer that would solve all Lyssa's problems, for Harley and for the others that would follow. It wasn't going to be easy and if anything it would test them all. The Goddess held no places for the weak in her court and if they couldn't accomplish this feat they were not worthy of her help. A help that could turn the tide of this war.
Her underground friends told her how to find that answer. To find the one who held it and held it tight. The one with bright white hair and a soul as black as night.
