Tirla laughs. "I'm not sure one could be forced to sing. That would be an odd thing to try. But I like trying new things, they are an adventure all their own."
Tirla looks around to get her bearings, having not paid attention to where they were flying for a while. Spotting some recognized landscape, "Ah, I know where we are. There is a cave not far that should be warmer and drier than the snow covered ground. It would make a good place to learn to sing. I remember the echoes there being particularly fun."
But she seemed to have a realization and turned to look at him for a moment, analyzing. "This is not an invitation to a dalliance. I do not wish you to take it as such as I will defend myself against unwanted advances. I don't think that's your intention, but I feel I should give fair warning."

Aras blinked for a moment and then laughed. Forcing someone to sing did sound like a funny thing now that he thought about it more. He enjoyed singing so much that the notion of singing being a bad thing, or somethign that could be forced upon someone, impossible. Even so, Tirla, who had never sung before, was trying. Perhaps his beliefs about singing were true after all.
He looked around, having no idea where they were, but trusting Tirla's sense of direction. "The cave sounds nice."
Aras eyed Tirla for a moment, mouth slightly open in shock. How.. forward. The thought had not crossed his mind in the slightest, but at least she was being mindful of his feelings. "It wasn't my intention at all, I promise. I've got a girl waiting for me." He gave a cocky grin and flapped his wings. "Shall you lead the way?"

Tirla nods. "I feel it only right to make sure such things are clear. Complications crop up when you don't. The cave is just this way. Your girl won't mind, I suppose. You would not have offered otherwise, I'm sure."
Angling her wings without bothering to wait for an answer, Tirla adjusts her flight on the thermals, heading slightly more west. Another seven or eight minutes flight and the smudge of a rocky outcropping can be seen from the air. Though it takes another ten minutes to reach the area.
It takes Tirla a few moments to reacquaint herself with the landscape and spot the cave. It's opening is not much higher than their heads, but it is as wide as it is tall and seems to go back five or six body lengths. The dark green of the interior is almost surprising against the snow on the ground outside it.
Landing with elegant grace, Tirla barely makes a set of hoofprints outside the cave entrance before her hooves are making muffled impact on the moss covered floor of the cave. Entering, it is quite warm and a hot spring at the rear burbles with radiating heat.
"I think this should do for now. And let us warm up a bit. I hadn't realized how cold I was until now. It feels amazing in here. The water is hot, but not scalding and is quite good if you can get past the mineral taste. Will this work for a place to sing?" Her voice echoes oddly. The moss cushioning it and the water making it bounce about in interesting patterns.

Aras took after Tirla, a little less confident than she when it came to flying. She looked like a natural and he felt a little ashamed for letting his wings go to waste; surely he could dazzle people with flying as much as he could with his voice.
Perhaps I could, Aras thought. But would I enjoy it as much? Many have seen flying soquili; they were quite common. But a soquili who could sing as well as he? Who could captivate an audience like he could? That was a rare thing to come by.
He landed rather heavily, almost skidding to a stop. As he entered the cave, he breathed in the warm air and felt it melt the cold from his body. He didn't need to be asked twice to get into the water, entering and letting out a sigh of relief.
"This is a perfect place," he said before letting out a low note that rose high then fell low again. The sound bounced off the walls of the cave and back at them; perfectly imitating. "You try now," he nodded towards her; eagerly and with encouragement.

Tirla blinks. He just . . . that was like as song only . . . there was no word, just sound. It takes her a moment to realize he wanted her to try making that pure sound. So she took a deep breath, decided it wasn't deep enough and took another one.
As her face took on a rather peculiar expression, she produced a noise that sounded rather like a bellowing moose and ended with a yowling cat, ranging from flat to sharp. Hearing the sound echoed back to her, Tirla winced. Her ears twitch and try to swirl away from the sound, but the reverberations are coming from every direction.
Her look defeated and dejected, Tirla sighs and her head droops.

Aras' ears pinned back against his head as she sung and he shrunk a little. He hoped she'd missed his reaction and quickly regained his composure and smiled. "That wasn't terrible. I've heard worse."
Stretching out in the water, he looked at the reflections, shimmering as the water rippled. "Have you ever seen a peacock? They're beautiful birds and you'd think they'd have equally beautiful voices. But they sound terrible. That's because they have beauty." He smiled at the mare. "You're like a peacock."

Tirla looks at him for a moment before sighing, defeated. "It really was that bad, wasn't it?"

Aras flinched a little. He hadn't meant to upset her. He tried to put it gently, a compliment with the news. Perhaps he wasn't as good as being gentle as he thought. Moving to her side, he nudged her a little. "It wasn't that bad. Singing isn't for everyone. You're one hell of a flier. I'm abysmal."
He smiled at her, genuine as ever. Sinking into the water, he relaxed in the warmth and let out a sigh of relief. "I don't think I ever want to leave here," he chuckled.

Tirla nods, "Perhaps it isn't. Besides, I don't need to be any more of a bird, I have enough people mistaking me for one."
Also settling deeper, "It is nice. It has been some time since I'd visited. We'll want to be as dry as we can manage before we leave, it's not so cold that the water would freeze instantly, but it would not be pleasant. Not to mention flying with wet wings . . . I tried it once, it was a miserable attempt. I'm not sure how ducks manage, but I am not a duck."

Aras chuckled at her comparison. "Ah but such a pretty bird you make!" He snorted a little, his laughter growing.
Sinking in to the water, he tried to imagine flying while freezing and shivered instinctively. He'd never flown in cold, but he'd once walked through a snow storm. It wasn't large by any measure and he eventually found shelter, but it was enough to make him learn his lesson about traveling in such weather.
"Or we could stay until Spring when it's warm." another soft laugh escaped his lips and he sunk into the water, a sigh escaping parted lips.

Tirla sidles away, eyes narrowed. "I thought you said you had a mare waiting for you?"
Maybe that wasn't suppose to sound like an invitation, but Tirla wasn't taking any chances. She did not want to have a fling and end up gravid and unable to fly by a stallion who wasn't even her mate, thank you very much. And she didn't ascribe to the thought that just being near a stallion was invitation enough for that sort of thing.
