Dith shrugged slightly. "What do I know of how Team Rocket organizes their missions? He could have been assigned it, or volunteered if he thought it would further his own goals." Whatever those were these days. Turning his head the muscular man studied the assembled sad-party before him. These couldn't be Jack's for the sole reason that there was a fire-type amongst them... unless his friend's practicality had won out over his wariness of the type. As he looked them over again he was pretty sure that the Absol was giving him a very dirty look indeed, but what for? Maybe just for being here.

"Was Xander on that mission?" he asked, plucking up the names of the ones he remembered from the contest. "What about Nakura? Does these belong to one of them?" He didn't expect her to answer, but he did hope that he could jar her enough to get a reaction by being so blunt.

Claire focused on him again, but this time with a skeptical, suspicious look. It was also questioning, a sort of what-the-hell-are-you-on expression. "..why do you think he's in Team Rocket?" Like hell she was going to give that away. While the other names he offered rang a few bells, she didn't care to think about them too much at the moment. There was only one person she was concerned about, and that was Aulus. "I don't know either of the people you're referring to, sorry." Although her tone didn't suggest she was sorry at all.

Gone cold again. Ah well. Dith sighed and pushed his fingers through his hair, or as far as they would go before they got tangled in the thick curls anyway. "I don't know," he said eventually, pulling his fingers free and smoothing his hair back down. "Well... no, I do. The contest - I'm pretty sure I told you this but maybe not - I found out that a young man called Xander knew him well, apparently well enough to have been in his room that morning.... And then he and a red-eyed little whelp called Nakura turned out to be Rockets. What else am I meant to think?" This wasn't going well. He wasn't sure what he was trying to gt out of this meeting but cold hostility wasn't it.

"So what're their names? These pokemon?" Dith gestured towards the Absol, Charizard, and sad-sad huddled Spinarak... with one leg missing? So far as he could see from here it had to be a very old injury though, so he wasn't worried that the black-haired young woman was responsible.

The contest..? She'd vaguely heard of that one, as she hadn't been on that mission, and couldn't quite remember who had gone on it. She only knew two men with red eyes though, and if this large foreigner spoke of one with obvious contempt in his tone, she could guess which Rocket he was. Not only that, but if she was correct in her assumptions, she shared his contempt wholeheartedly. "I don't know," she answered in response to his question, offering him a shrug. He could think whatever he liked.

When he wanted to know the names of Aulus's pokemon, though, she became suspicious again. It really wasn't any of his business what their names were, honestly.. But she'd already said Char's name once, and she didn't think it would hurt.. "I believe I already mentioned Char," she said slowly at first, then nodded at the Absol and Spinarak. "But theirs are Tortie and Paul." Poor little spider still looked frightened, but really.. when didn't he?

"Mmmmh...." Giving a slight sigh Dith looked up at the sky, and the wheeling Pidgeot overhead. "There was an explosion at the museum," he said after a short pause, "they're still trying to determine the cause of it but it's pretty well agreed that it was a pokemon of some kind. The whole ceiling had come down, glass and metal all over. Reports are not too clear yet on just how much blood there was and so on, forensic teams all over the place. Anyone in there would be lucky to get out alive by the looks of it."

The more he talked the more he wished he wasn't talking, or thinking about it. If Jack had been there he would have been smart, ducked under some kind of shelter... if he was quick enough, and hadn't been hurt in the initial explosion. If he had been hurt though the girl would say something, wouldn't she? She'd have Skiron too, unless that Xander boy was looking after him. He almost wished he didn't even care this much anymore. Jack hadn't called. He could have done it from a payphone or something, just a few seconds to say 'hello I'm alive, and no you idiot I am not a member of Team Rocket'. Nothing. Was that really what he deserved after so long?

Oh, so now he wasn't interested in the pokemon, he was back to talking about the damned museum again. What was he hoping to find out? What did he want her to say? Why wouldn't he shut up about it? The mention of blood and explosions - that damned Shaymin, no doubt - and forensics teams just made her want to squirm. Lucky to be alive? No, they might have preferred to die rather than suffer through whatever mercy Team Galactic had - if any. Judging on everything that had happened so far, though, they wouldn't have any.

"Why do you keep bringing that up?" She asked suddenly, turning to face him completely. It was probably the first time the entire conversation that she faced him while speaking for more than a brief moment. "I hope you realize just how far from innocent you sound with everything you seem to know about what happened."

Dith looked back down and sighed, shrugged his massive shoulders in a display that showed weariness more than anything. "I just pay attention to the news, that's all, I don't think I know anything special about it all... though I especially pay attention when news might have to do with Rockets I suppose. Why do I keep mentioning it? Because it preys on my mind. I can't help wondering if Jack was there and...." He trailed off, rubbing his forehead and trying to work out where he even was going with this. "Have you seen him since then?" Dith asked after a moment, looking back up cautiously. "I'm not trying to... I just want to know if you know he's safe or not. He's my friend, or was, and he's still important to me even if I'm not to him. You can understand that, can't you?"
PostPosted: Sun Feb 12, 2012 2:33 pm

If all he wanted was to know about Frost, then fine. "He wasn't," she said as her brows descended into a very displeased expression, the curve of her mouth mirroring it, "and I have seen him since. He's perfectly fine as far as I can tell, so you can stop worrying so much." There, maybe now he'd leave her alone.

If she were in any other mood she might've felt bad for being so snappish, but he was pressing matters that had been preying on her mind for ages, so much so that she couldn't sleep at night half the time. She'd spoken to Lucas about the situation frequently, but she didn't have any idea how she could help locate the missing Rockets apart from flying around on Odette. If the Galactics were smart though, they wouldn't even be on Kodo at the moment.

Zeus's ears twitched at his trainer's tone of voice, and he growled up at Dith. The larger human was obviously upsetting her, and while he liked to keep up the appearance that he felt completely indifferent to her, that was a complete and total lie. He tried to hide it most of the time though, but right now this man was upsetting her.

Cassia stopped gnawing on a stick when her elder started growling, and her own ears twitched, this time in uncertainty. She wasn't sure why he was suddenly angry, but she abandoned the stick and stumbled through the sand to curl up between Claire's boots. "P'chu..?"

"Well that's good at any rate." Dith sighed and picked up the stick, doodling a vague design in the sand. She sounded very sure that he hadn't been there; it was one thing to have seen him since but... mmfh. "You're very sure he wasn't there," Dith said eventually, looking back up at Claire, "do you know anyone who was?" He did not think she was going to react well to this, but oh well.

There. Maybe now he'd stop pestering her with questions abou-- oh come on.

Claire was on her feet in an instant, a very mixed but obviously displeased expression on her face. "I don't know why you won't stop asking all of these freaking questions," she huffed. If she was more angry than upset, everything would be fine. "You know your friend is fine - where my friends are and what they do is absolutely none of your business." Cassia suddenly disappeared in a flash of red, and the agent pocketed the love ball before pulling out a luxury ball and a pokeball. Alexina was already halfway up the beach, running straight for her owner, and Luc was still sitting by the rock before they both disappeared in a similar fashion.

Did she know anyone indeed. She knew half of them, but only cared about two - one was fine on base, and the other she didn't know if she'd ever see again. The thought made her stomach twist and churn in emotionally uncomfortable ways and she could've sworn she felt her heart in her throat, but she beat it back down. There was no way in hell she would ever show such weakness here. She'd leave before then.

Dith shrugged, feeling a cold invisible hand on his shoulder as the girl's pokemon started to move. Nice to know he was supported. "Really? Well, the thing I don't know is why you should be so very upset about all this... did you lose a friend at the museum? Is that why his pokemon are with you, and why they look so sad?" If he'd been fairly sure before he was convinced now. She was in Team Rocket... and so was Jack. ебля.

While the agent was busy recalling the majority of her assembled pokemon, Odette swooped down to land near her trainer. The Pidgeot treated the large man to a hard, menacing stare as she stood at her full height - which was at least as tall as the large human himself. Claire didn't seem to notice as she recalled all the pokemon except Odette, Red, and Zeus. "My friends are absolutely none of your business," she said in cool, clipped tones as she pocketed the remainder of the pokeballs and adjusted her coat, "and I've had quite enough of your questions." Without any parting words, Claire mounted her Pidgeot with practiced ease - not without Zeus jumping up and settling down in front of his trainer, of course, since he had no desire to be left behind - and the bird swept up into the air and took off. Whether or not she was headed back to where Team Rocket was or off to sulk somewhere more secluded was anyone's guess, but needless to say wherever she went would have a notable lack of this man's presence.
