"Nothing out here!" she called back. Hearing Cass' call and seeing the ... results of the outside of the house, she decided it would be okay to look inside. Though she wanted the perimeters safe, she couldn't help but feel a tad curious with all the screams and noises she was hearing. Was that ... cutting fabric?
Just what were they doing?
Moving inside, Ami was surprised that the space wasn't covered in shadows and monsters. It looked like an average house actually. Well, one with springy floorboards.
Wait no, those were REALLY springy floorboards. With a cocked eyebrow, Ami stabbed at the floor with Junpei and lifted up. Oh god, that was gross. REALLY gross. Bugs were not her thing. She liked spiders, and butterflies were nice and all, but termites? Ami couldn't imagine a single person on earth who liked termites.
< Amiiii. I'm stuck in the boardddd. > He was apparently unfazed by the bugs though. She wiggled a bit, and he finally came lose. < Thank you. > he purred.
She snapped a reluctant picture with her phone. That was definitely being deleted the moment they submitted their report.

Cass looked in horror at the expanse of termites that were just..everywhere. Everywhere. She crossed her arms. "So the humans were dead, bugs are still alive........" Cass was following a thought that she'd had previously and made another note in her phone. "Are you two still doubting that this death had something unnatural involved?"
Never the less, Cass cut a swatch of carpet out of the floor, content with that sample and moving to pack it away, Nicodemus finally unsummoning back into the chain around her waist, danger apparently deemed far enough away by the tonberry in her head. Which really, it was his call. Cass would be fine either way.
Still....
"This is the second place I've been to where there has been a case of animal-life death and then the insect activity remains untouched." she finally shared her thought. "I'm not sure if that means anything or if I simply have a case of wrong place wrong time. Never the less, termite activity indicates a lack of poison and..... well, this level of infestation couldn't have occurred in that small of an amount of time between death and now.
Unless they didn't take care of their house..."

Just in case, though, Syd headed into the bedrooms again, cutting through the carpet. "Yeah, it's infested here too," she said, standing after she took another picture. "I don't see why anyone would carve something like that under their beds, either," she admitted as she went back to the other two, a frown on her face. "It's just... creepy. Sort of like... ritualistic," she admitted.

Ami followed the voices until she found the other two women, bumbling around in the same way she was. She examined the bruises on Cassandra, and couldn't help but wonder where they came from. It would be rude to ask, and she probably already knew the answer. Hunter missions.
As she walked, the floorboards continued to groan under her weight. There must have been termites everywhere. So time to analyze and conclude. There was a house, the outside was okay. The inside had some dead people and termites. Something about something under the bed?
"It's hard to believe this ISN'T supernatural," Ami commented, "I think we can file an extensive report," she added, flicking through the pictures on her phone.
< Done already? > Junpei said, yawning. He had gotten bored of the bug-searching long ago.
Termites not interesting enough for you my dear Jumpy?
< Junpei. > he corrected once more, < Bugs are only good for eatin', and I'm a glaive. Can't really eat 'em like this! > For once, he seemed to have a good point.

Cass put one hand on her hip. "So you think we got enough here? I'll show you how to fill out the required paperwork for these missions when we get back if you think so. It is highly important to make sure you file that, if only so Caelius doesn't come back from the abyss and kill us all for our disorganization and whatever other punishment we garner for not being responsible."
All she knew was that Caelius had been pissed about said paperwork when he'd first introduced it to them...which had been angrily and throwing papers at them.
"I can definitely imagine how it would look ritualistic, though..." She pondered if it would be possible to get FEAR sensing equipment out there. Maybe. She'd mention it in her report as well. Never the less, it seemed they'd gotten a good look at the place.
If they were ready to go, Cass would start heading back towards the portal.

Syd nodded. "I need a shower or two," he said, making a face. "Termites," she added with a disgusted look.
Syd was not amused. Why would you even care if I'm taking a shower? she asked him after a second of awkward confusion.
Never mind, I didn't need to know.

Fingering her braided hair gently, Ami couldn't help but agree. "A shower sounds ... great actually." She didn't like having to follow after the girl Sydney, but even Ami couldn't shake the great fear that some termite had nestled itself in her thick hair. THAT would be an unpleasant night's sleep.
Nodding, she followed the girl's back to the portal and said, "So about this paperwork..."

"Paperwork is quick. Any photos you have can be given to them when you hand in the report. It really is just a matter of 'Here is where we went, and this is what we found'. In case of bigger missions - ones where you are given a direct operative and have an opportunity to interact with them, you'll have to fill out the status of success with such a mission as well."
Cass tried to not fuss at the swatch of carpet she'd taken from the house in her hand.
"There will be a whole sheet for you to fill out. I recommend doing so, they tend to help with getting promotions and the like if you're responsible about things like that." Which, naturally, everybody wanted. It seemed like if she spent too long as a trainee she'd end up in the pods again.
She didn't want that.
Still, the portal neared, and Cass had finished her explanation in relatively quick time in order to pass through it again without too much incident.
((I'm just gonna assume wrap-up once everybody is through the portal. :3 ))

Syd nodded, thinking she would take her shower before she filled out the paperwork. Then she stepped through the portal, relieved to be back on the island, regardless of how she had only been there for a little bit.
It was home now. As close as she could get, at least. Far closer than anything she remembered from her foggy past.

Ami was, of course, too responsible for her own good. She nodded wearily though. The idea of paperwork after such an ... interesting mission did NOT sound comfortable. Ami did like writing though, so it wouldn't be too bad. At least she had nice handwriting.
Shower was coming first though. Definitely.
She shuddered and followed the twosome towards the portal. Ami just hoped the next mission didn't involve bugs.
