"I hope so." She whimpered, shivering at the thought of looking weird for the rest of her life. Kito dared not to look as the cub moved to fix the problem, throwing a paw across her face to keep herself from looking. It seemed to take forever, too, and she uttered small yelp's of nervousness when it felt like the beetle would never get free.
And then, success!
"All gone?" Kito asked, lifting her paw to peer back at the red and black cub. The beetle had already been swatted away and, within a split second she was up on her paws again, turning in circles to try and get a look at the damage. "Oh! Look, look! You can hardly even tell!" She replied when she at last managed to pin it under her paw. "Thank you, thank you, thank you. You saved my life!"
And then...
"OH! But where has Leftie gone? Did he get to take the poop to where he wanted?" She cast her eyes about to look for him.

"Yes!" Tala confirmed cheerfully, but bounced back once Kito suddenly seemed to magically get back up on her feet. Then she was spinning around! The red cub smiled, because this was pretty funny. And it felt good to know she was the cause of such relief! "You're welcome!"
He smile died, though, at the mention of Leftie, and she immediately looked around to try to find him. It seemed that during all the commotion, the beetle had rolled its poop away! "Awww, I think we lost him!" She said sadly, ears low. She'd miss Lefite. "Maybe he found a good place for his poop."
Tala let the sad silence hang a bit longer, at least on her part. Then tilted her head at the other cub. "Hey, who're you? I'm Tala!" She had just realized the didn't know the golden cub's name!

That was a bit sad. Those beetles were certainly faster than they looked. Sneaking onto her tail. Running away when they'd turned away for a minute! It was hard to believe something so small could move so fast. And then, at last, the silence was interrupted by the other cub and Kito turned to look at her, eyes widening in surprise.
"Oh! Sorry, sorry! My name is Kito."
She grinned at how they both had short names. Short names were good. Easy to remember and much cuter. "And since you are my newest friend!" Well...only friend actually. "I think we should meet again, okay? I live just over there. Not too far. You live close by here, too?" She wondered, perhaps, if this one was a relative of Tawala. That cub had been red, too, but he had been a lot bigger - bigger than Kito, for sure!

Tala was still pretty young, so she didn't understand why Kito apologized before saying her name. She was still in the process of learning basic manners herself! She liked the other cub's name. Kito! It was so easy, and kind of fun to say. Or it probably would, when she actually said it out loud. Kiiito.
That was pretty exciting, that now she had a friend. "Oh! I think so too!" So neat! This meant they could do fun things together ore often. Tala liked Kito, she was so funny! "I live near here too! So I'll probably see you around." She could tell this encounter was drawing to an end, though. Because either her mom, or Kito's mom would probably want them to go home soon.

"That is good!" She chirped, leaping back to her paws and taking a few bouncing steps backwards. "Then we'll have to meet up again soon! I had a lot of fun, even if it was also a bit scary." She rubbed a paw across her nose and threw Tala a wide smile.
"I should probably head back now before my parents start getting worried. But we must see each other again soon!" She gave a rolling purr and then, shaking her head, bounded off in the direction of her den.
She had a friend! That was definitely something to go and share with her siblings, that was for sure.
