A long huff of air answered Candace as Aria sighed, directing the breath up to blow her bangs aside. "Look," She began, stopping herself and shaking her head. "Candace, look at me," she tried again with a gentler voice. "These training courses are meant to test you and the extent of your abilities. They're not here to punish or to be a chore. These training courses are the very basics of what we do on missions, the Mist course moreso than any other."
The division leader raised her hands, indicating the area. "Here, you can make mistakes. It's possible to score perfectly on these, just as it's possible to do abysmally. It doesn't matter if you're new or highly skilled. Even I sometimes get my a** handed to me. Part of the courses depend on skill, the other part depends on luck."
It seemed as if she was about to add more, but caught herself. Instead, she went on. "It is here you can make the mistakes. Learn from them. Hell, do it on purpose if you're curious. There aren't as many fatalities in the courses as there were before. But even then..." She lowered her hand, gesturing to Candace herself. "It is very, very easy to screw up and seriously injure yourself. That is why the Death training course is ran with golems. Too many have died on it."
"With the Death course in question, however," she continued, "You only have one chance. Treat the golem like it's your body. If you fail, grab another golem and start again from the top. Do it again and again until you pass, and keep track of how many golems you go through. Understood?"

She knew that sigh. That was the sigh of a frustrated parent or educator dealing with a stubborn fool who wasn't learning their lesson how they should be. She was still doing something wrong. What the ******** was she doing wrong?! Candace looked up when told to do so, frowning. A punishment? A chore? Oh, no! She didn't think it as either of those things! She had enjoyed the course just...not the knowledge that she could have seriously ******** up if she hadn't been more careful. Harrison did give her those shin guards...she'd have to start remembering to wear those more often; she kept forgetting them in her room and never had them in emergencies. She'd have to start making sure she had them from now on, especially for the training courses.
Candace looked around when Aria gestured to where they were. But..no. No, Aria. No. Candace couldn't just accept mistakes. She had to get it right. Wait, what? Even she..? Well, that did make her feel slightly better to hear that even her own leader had trouble with the courses every now and then. Candace chuckled. "As many? Delightful..." She sighed and tilted her head back against the door again. "I'll do my best, Aria. Sorry to say it won't be easy for me to just...accept making mistakes. It's never been my style~." She was smiling as she said this, though it was a bitter smile. Candace had been a perfectionist for as long as she could remember, something she attributed to her determination to get out of the town she was stuck in and the shadows that plagued her ever since she was a small child. "But I'll do my best, that's as much as I can promise."
Candace lifted both arms with a sheepish smile now, adjusting her position in a way that would make it easier for her to get up with her weight put into one leg. "Could I have some help up? I'm good once I'm standing, just...you kicked me." Okay so it wasn't so much a kick as it was just a very hard nudge but it still hurt. Her leg was throbbing and still bleeding, though the makeshift tourniquet made from her scarf was helping quite a bit.

"Promises mean no-" Aria snapped, cutting herself short as she caught herself. No, not here, not now. The division leader exhaled her breath as she reached forward, grabbing a hold of Candace's hands and pulling her to her feet. "What I mean to say is that right now it's okay to make mistakes. You have experienced hunters and your peers you can ask questions and spar with. Once you're gone, though? You won't be able to. If you make one tiny mistake, that can seriously injure or kill you. If you need to make mistakes, now is the time to make them. We'll make sure that you won't make them again."
Once Candace was on her feet, Aria looked over her again appraising. "Can you make it to the infirmary yourself, or...?" She trailed off, adding, "If you can, then that is all. I will speak with you again when you've completed all the tasks you've been assigned. Or sooner, should our paths cross again."

Eh? Why was she snapping? Candace gratefully accepted the help up, keeping her injured leg extended out straight in front of her while putting all of her weight into the good one. She pushed herself up, waiting until she was fully upright before gently setting her foot down on the ground. She gave herself a sort of 'test stance' to make sure she could stand. It hurt but it was doable. "Mm..fine, fine." She chuckled, releasing Aria once she was sure she could stand on her own. "..Will you do it with me sometime? You don't have to, I just think it'd be nice if I could learn while doing the course and watching you in action at the same time. I haven't had very many chances to really see it yet and I'd like to." And she really wanted to. She'd seen her 'spar' with Caelius but that just wasn't enough for Candace; she wanted to see Aria in the course, to see how she handled the shadowlings and the trap room. Plus, it could be fun! She'd enjoyed it on her own but just imagine how neat it would be to have company! Especially that of her leader.
"I should be fine." Candace answered in regards to getting to the infirmary, putting a little more weight on that leg just to test the waters. She winced but other than that she seemed fine. There would be a limp but she'd live long enough to get to the infirmary and get her leg looked at and properly treated. "Pff, I'm sure we'll cross paths again. It's a small island, ma'am~. " Candace told her cheerfully, bending down a moment to adjust the scarf wrapped around her leg. Maybe it was just time to replace it entirely. She stood upright again and smiled. "And thank you for the advice. I won't forget it. Take care, Aria."
...Oh..oh this is going to be good. I wish I had candycorn for what I'm about to witness. Atropos cackled as Candace began to limp away from the tower and Aria. Candace rolled her eyes and gave one of her rings a flick. The weapon gave a yelp. Hey! That hurt, you brat! Rubbing the ring with her thumb, Candace pouted. You deserved it.
Now just left the question of who would Candace see about her leg?
...Probably Stephen. He was the safest option; Clarice's office was too close to H's, H was a dangerous man to have touching her body, but Stephen was gay as Springtime. He was perfect.
