Kess fought down the noise of protest that started in her throat the second Daphne began to pull away, her hands tightening automatically where they'd moved to hold hips as the blunette had moved closer and things had begun to get a little intense.

It took her a moment to register that words had followed the separation of mouths, and she blinked a little dumbly at the shorter girl. "It's cold?" Right, yes, yes it was. "Yeah," she agreed, then furrowed her brow, backtracking mentally, "I mean, no." Kess flashed that lazy, wide grin of hers, tossing her head to shake pale hair from her dark eyes.

"What I meant," Despite the amused, low tone, her words were clear, "Was that you're ********' hot, Daph."

"Oh...oh!" Thankful for the dark, she was fairly positive that the sound of blood rushing to her face was fairly audible. Also audible was the sound of Daphne's brain smacking into the front of her skull with an almost painful sound. Eyes squeezed shut, opened again, and then she laughed. It was not at all one of those laughs that could really be taken wrong; it was entirely humor directed at herself for being such a dork.

Daphne shifted and indulged the hands squeezing lightly, Kess tugging at her hips so their lips met again warm for a moment. Her brain just had to back off a tiny, tiny bit from where it was giving too much a damn about how ridiculous she was or wasn't. Oh. There it was, that equilibrium where nothing was too very serious. Mmm. "I think you're the fire lighting up under me. Uhm. Did that sound weird? Lets just go with oh gee golly you're good at this?" Fingers reached up to tug lightly at the ends of her own hair, the mistake of that becoming clear fast enough that the same hand almost smacked down against her thigh in her hurry.

"Good thing it's January."

Kess responded well to Daphne's laughter, in general, and now was no exception. Her humor was right on par with the taller girl's, and they both had their fair share of 'dorky' moments, which passed between them with relatively little shame, all things considered.

"It'll get even better," the blonde mumbled, without any trace of embarrassment, her lips busy tracing a path along the line of Daphne's jaw, neck, the lobe of her ear. Fingers worked their way into the space between the waistband of the bluenette's jeans and the hem of her jacket and shirt, chilled fingertips inching up to brush against hot skin, and making Kess inhale audibly, the hiss of air sucked through clenched teeth.

This was one of the many, many fun things about making new friends. You got to find out what made her tick, her muscles tense, pulse race... If it hadn't already been clear, it was quickly becoming apparent that they were going to become good friends, and fast.

All sorts of interesting things were going on at the point that Kess' fingers touched Daphne's heated skin, the most visible of them was a rough shudder springing out like an earthquake from the point of contact. Not even the clever mouth sliding around near that all-too-sensitive point on her neck, almost searching for such a place, wasn't quite enough at that point to have the bluenette ignoring the elements.

Cold air was now being sucked up in the gap the blonde's arm was making in her clothing so that, so very unfortunately, she was forced to start pulling away. Twisting a bit Daphne laughed while she rolled off the other girl's lap to again lay flat on her back. "If you're going to be doing that you definitely better have a fire going. I like the cold but a shot of it up the back with those icy fingers of gold you've got there? Uhn-uhhhh~" The laughter was actually quite similar to a different kind of sound. It was called a giggle.

For the first time in weeks the bluenette simply laid on the ground and indulged herself in the ridiculously girly laughter, watching the stars blur as her eyes filled with tears of mirth.

Damn this freezing, northeastern weather.

The blonde grinned, rolling over to flatten out on her stomach. Propping up her chin on her crossed forearms, Kess's dark eyes danced across Daphne's face, their amusement shared, despite the older girl's lack of laughter. The bluenette's seemed born of a sense of freedom, and looking over the girl's reddened cheeks, Kess felt somewhat accomplished.

"Fingers of gold, huh?" Now she laughed. "You've no idea, girl." A pause then, as she considered Daphne's earlier commentary. "Not yet, anyway."

But cold it was, and "late".

"Should I take you home?" She offered, out of courtesy, and as an afterthought, she continued with an alternative. "I have to watch some cheesy horror movies for one of my classes."

Allowing her gigglefit to subside gave Daphne time to pick apart the options in her head. Going home was pretty much a given at this point because staying out here wasn't doing any of them any good; the weather hadn't really been a deterrent to what she'd been hopeful to avoid. Avoid wasn't even really the right word but there was still that reasonable remnant of Audrey Collins that wouldn't let Kess just sweep her easily on into bed. Doubtless that's where they were headed anyway, Daphne didn't mind one bit, but there had to be some sort of standard.

Right?

Chewing on her lip, winding a curl around her finger, the bluenette considered. "Well if you're up for it I have several spare beds at my house. The daybed in my room and the spare downstairs if you'd like a little more privacy." She thought she should get points for not snorting over that last word there. "I can probably even spot you pajamas, your butt is smaller than mine." Daphne sat up a bit to check. "I think."

It was probably just on the side of way too dangerous to invite Kess over for a sleepover but...she was lonely. Even if they just hung out it would be totally worth the nerves and any awkwardness that might ensue.

"I've always been a fan of the slumber party," The wolfish smile, and lack of sarcasm, let Daphne know the statement was one-hundred-percent genuine. Kess had a lot of great slumber party memories. It was a bit of an effort to contain her laughter, as the bluenette continued to illustrate how adorably awkward she could be.

There were several things that would eventually become clear.

1. Kess did not want to sleep in a 'daybed' [what the ******** was that, even] or guest room.
2. Kess maintained her privacy in ways that had nothing to do with where she slept.
2. Kess did not wear pajamas.

None of that was need-to-know information at that very second, and so the blonde simply raised her brows, before pushing onto her knees, then feet. Reaching out a hand to pull her friend up, she glanced toward the city below.

"I'm down," Another quick grin, "But I'll need to grab a couple things from my pad. It's on the way. That cool?" Reaching down, she grabbed the edge of the blanket, tugging it until Daphne stepped off of it and she could fold it up. Now that there was nothing exciting happening, the cold was beginning to bite through her clothing.

Huffing in the cold, her breath now showing clearly, she tried to put on what she felt was an exasperated expression. It actually was probably making her look a bit like she was some kind of slack-jawed zombie wannabe, but hey, an actress she had never claimed to be! "I guess but I was really looking forward to getting you into my cupcake jammies. Also maybe the movies but you know, it's not like that was the point of the sleepover or anything." Sleepover! It was actually sorta hitting her now and making her quite excited.

Daphne couldn't really remember the last time she'd had a real sleepover, instead only remembering the very strange night at Jada's where Elzo and his brother had caught them skinny dipping before Fallon had up and disappeared. Had that really been over a year ago? Damn, time flew.

Looking over her shoulder she grinned. "Last one down the hill...." Is something? Loses something? Well. Might as well keep it open ended and with a whoop the bluenette flung herself down the knoll.
