She'd just called him an a**. But seriously, Roch thought as he tossed another meat bun into his mouth, a guy carries a JACKIN sharper than hell guitar and is an obvious reaper, and you ask them if they can play? He snorted, forgetting about it, and her, as easily as that. Maybe he should call some pals, he thought as he headed for the next booth. Somehow he seemed a bit surrounded by new enemies. Sure they were freshmen, but enough of them pissed at him and he could have a bit of trouble. Oh! He pulled out his eyephone, tapping one of the first numbers that came up and sent a quick text. chimarii Hey Danny! Come crash a party with me!

"Tired?" Did zombies ever get tired? Come to think of it, though Alex had never slept, there were times when he felt emotionally and mentally drained, much like Mort looked right this second. He'd even actually fainted once, so yes, entirely possible the other zomboil could be tired. "Maybe some food will help!"Food could fix anything. Even as he was talking to Mort, however, he was keeping an ear and an eye out for Michi, who appeared now to be getting a little heated towards Roch. Having witnessed the purple haired Reaper get into arguments with other's quite easily in the past, this didn't come as much of a shock to Alex, though he wondered if he should step in and say something.. Too late for that though, when Michi came sauntering back over towards them, apparently not about to wait for a reply from the guitar weilding boil. "Problems?" Alex gave her a big ol' 'I don't know what just happened' and clueless smile, eyes flickering over to Roch who was now getting out his phone. And yes, brains! Always brains! His stomach gurgled again. "I sure hope so.." he muttered, looking towards the food stalls forlornly.

It took Mort a moment to respond to the demoness, as he wasn't sure how that quick spat would have left her, but in return he wiggled a couple of fingers in greeting. Had she said as much several months before, he might have been flustered, but at this point he was almost used to such terms. "D-Don't know way 'round, will follow," he almost all but mumbled, not liking the replacement glasses he was using. The typical square rims he had was currently replaced by something thicker, boxier - he hated it, and the reason why he had to use it.
"Also . . . what celebrating n'way?" He'd seen a lot of exotic themes and foreign lettering (Chinese? Japanese?), but wasn't able to piece much together at the moment.

Michi forgot about Roch just as soon as he had forgotten about her. Things never phased the smoke demoness for very long. Doubly when she had two boils to talk to and a festival to wander. Mort was the same height as Michi, leaving Alex up in the clouds. She grinned at the two of them, and simply did what she did best; drag people along. "It's a Chinese New Year festival. I think... with all the dragons around, it's year of the dragon or something? I honestly don't know anything but that." She moved until she was between the two of them and looped her hands (long nails and all) in the crooks of their respective elbows. "I'm Michi by the way, it's nice to meet you! Let's go find you guys some brains!" Cheery, happy, and the only thing different was that she wasn't flirting with Mort or Alex right now. So maybe she was still a little miffed, but there was fun to be had! Considering she was with zombies, she didn't drag too fast. "So what's so tasty about brains? I've always wondered...."

Xiu perked up upon hearing her friend's voice, cheerfully turning to greet him. However, the friendly smile on her face froze--and then slowly began to fade--as she took in his appearance. The slash over his shirt was one thing, but the bruises and broken nose...
"Yin Cang! W-what happened?!" Her previous contented demeanor disappeared, giving way to a panic-filled expression and voice. "You...you look..." "Terrible" and "beat-up" were both accurate, but Xiu couldn't bring herself to say either. Instead, she merely stared up at the boil with wide eyes, a rush of thoughts running through her head. Had Yin gotten into a fight? Maybe even a run-in with a Hunter? Or perhaps he had accidentally hurt himself somehow?
Whatever the case, Xiu was speechless for a good few seconds. Then, with heavy hesitance, she gestured back towards the school. "Should we leave? I don't want to force you to accompany me if you aren't in the mood--" Or the state, "--To do so."

Envelope Win! (sn ramenli) His appearance was worse than he had feared he realized. Self consciously he tugged at his shirt, looking down. He had actually been fairly curious about the event, if worried about attending with Miss Xiu-Ying, but now he felt as if he wanted to be anywhere but there. She was obviously not wanting to be seen with him, and why should she? He was an embarrassment. He was still trying to think of how to respond when he saw a small red envelope on the ground. He crouched down to pick it up, and oddly enough it had some weight to it. It was a good distraction and he peeked inside before looking up at her, startled. "I am afraid we cannot leave just yet Miss Xiu-Ying. Someone must have dropped this envelope, and it has money in it. They are sure to miss it." He eyed it as if it was going to bite him. "Unless...is this yours Miss Xiu-Ying? Did you drop it while waiting for me? I must apologize for being late..."Kaiyumi Yin is always in the mood

Alex nodded at the other zomboil, perfectly content to have some zombie company and also for him to follow them around. He answered Mort's question at about the same time as Michi, except he said "Lunar New Years Festival." And then gave Michi a sidelong look. Ah, she was giving it the human name, that's right! He'd learned about it in Human Studies. He let Michi pull him along, giving Mort a bemused smile, and said to the other zomboil "Don't worry, she's harmless. All smoke and no fire." He grinned, while trying to keep his pace up to hers. He then looked at Michi with an almost horrified looke. "What isn't tasty about brains? Well, actually come to think of it, the school does serve a pretty poor selection." He wrinkled his nose up. Nothing beat the way his mom made brains back home! As they finally neared the booths, Alex eyed the meat filled buns curiously, then snatched one up, holding it over his open mouth and squeezing out the contents. It..wasn't bad. Cooked though, which he could have done without. He tossed the bun in the nearest trash bin, rubbing the juices that had dribbled down his chin with the back of his hand and continuing to search for something slightly more edible

"Hm? Oh...oh, no, it's not mine." She shook her head, though to be honest, she wasn't sure if they would be able to find the owner even if they tried. After all, how many red envelopes were being handed out today? Her concern didn't linger on the money for long, though, as she looked back up at Yin. It was hard not to cringe in sympathy at the state he was in.
"But really, what happened? You seemed find yesterday morning..." At the very least, he had been unbruised when she invited him to attend the festival was her. Clearly something had happened between that time and now, but what? ...And that being said, was it really her business in the first place?
No, probably not, but Xiu was a bit of a worrywart and a nag. She was silent for a good few seconds before piping up with a meek, "Does it hurt? If you need ice or something..." And so the baku began to scan the booths quickly in search of something cold that her friend could use.

Danny had gotten the text, but she was in her dorm. Party crashing? Always and forever.
Except there was a big problem. Her hair. She still had no idea what to do with it, and it still looked stupid. It was the weekend, so she hadn't had classes to deal with, and could hermit in her room most of the time, but now that Roch was calling her out of her hidey-hole? What was she supposed to do?
Her eyes fell on a hat in her closet. Perfection.
So she had gone to the party with her hair clearly hidden under the bagginess of the hat. Done and done. She looked for Roch in the group, but it wasn't really hard considering he was sort of a purple-topped tower. Danny bounced over to him and started strumming his guitar with a free hand haphazardly, just to get his attention. "Rooooooooch," she shouted over the cantankerous noise.

Roch jumped, turning so his guitar was away from her. "Jack, Danny!" he complained. "That always messes with my head, you know that! But check this place out!" he added, looking around with a grin. "Want a meat bun? I think it's meat, at least," he said, looking at the snacks curiously for a second before shrugging it off. "Tastes good, at least."
One fire packin' best friend for back up, just like he liked it, he thought with a little grin, holding out the carton of snacks to her. "I would be greedier, but this is like my third food booth in the past twenty minutes."

Danny reached over Roch's shoulder and grabbed a meat bun, toasting it and then throwing it in her mouth. Yeah that definitely didn't feel quite like meat. Then again, it was Halloween. Who ever knew what you were eating?
"Third?" She looked around, finally taking in her surroundings. It seemed very ... It reminded her a lot of Xiu. "What kinda party is this anyways?" she said, stuffing another meat bun in her mouth.
She caught Michi in the the corner of her eye. "Michi!" she shouted, unwrapping herself from Roch. "Michi over here!" she repeated, this time waving.
To Roch, she just said, "You gotta meet this ghoul, she's like the best."

Envelope Win! (sn ktqueen) There was just way too much going on. People were really starting to show up, so things were becoming more... interesting. She stuck her tongue out at Alex at his smoke comment, in a teasing manner. Understandable why they'd be worried about fire, but she found the joke funny none the less. "I've never eaten any brains, so I dunno. I stick to raw meat. Best stuff ever!" And then there was someone yelling her name. It was Danny! She had been friends with this gal for awhile over the hexbox, so she just couldn't leave the ghoul hanging. Grinning at the boils, she let go of them and quickly gave them a short apology. "Sorry boils, I'll catch up with you in a bit. I'm sure I'll be able to pick Alexander out of a crowd, considering how tall he is!" And with that the smoke demoness turned on her heel and started over to where Danny had shouted from. She stopped for a moment to snag another red envelope that had caught her eye. Smiling she found herself in front of Danny and began to open it. "Hey Danny! I should have known you'd show u--," she stopped mid sentence to see that dude from before standing next to Danny. The a**. Oh jack it all. This was going to be interesting. "Who's your friend?" She nodded towards the purple haired boil, but her voice was a little colder than normal. Instead of paying too much attention to him, she popped open the red thing in her hands only to find... she had won some money! Grinning, she stuffed it into a pocket happy with her win.

Mort nodded at her name, put more at ease when Alex affirmed that there was no fire to be involved. "Mortimer. Mort is short." Almost a catch phrase for his introduction at this point, though he needed to get a cooler last name; this time, he had withheld it for sake of already having a recovering ego.
Nonetheless, his shuffling wasn't so noisy once Michi began to tug them away, mindful enough that she wasn't doing so in a fast manner; the consideration if nothing else helped his mood. "Lunar, mrrr . . ." And Michi had confirmed it was Chinese. Something about that culture made the festival intriguing, especially with their Zodiac; though in his case, it was not accurate to attribute to, as his death day and "rez" day were very different.
"For brains, think . . . Think l-like other meat. Like fried cockatrice n' kushi nuggets? Is tasty. Brain is meat too, a-also tasty. Hard t'splain." Talking about it, and seeing Alex get some dribbles of meat juice, made Mort begin to lean more towards being hungry little by little. He was still debating over his own promise to not eat brains specifically, but at the least the selection here had variety.
"So, er, how meet each other?"
This right after Danny called Michi to say hi and the demoness let them go to visit. ouo He waved a little in both goodbye to Michi and hello to the fire demon before turning to Alex with a "what should we do now" sort of look.

........ Why did it just jackin figure? "BEST friend," Roch said, equally coldly. "So you two know each other?" he asked Danny, munching down another meat bun. "Is she one of those people I just ain't ran into, or is she one of the new ones?" The ones that could be hunters.

Alex grinned happily, so far quite content to be spending his time at the festival with the smoke demoness and his fellow zomboil. It was a nice distraction from things that had been on his mind lately. Suddenly he heard a familiar voice yelling for Michi, and he turned to have a look, spotting Danny over by Roch. "Ah, you know Danny?" He smiled, finding it somewhat fitting that a smoke demon and a fire demon would be friends, and waving at Danny, though he still had mixed feelings about the demon ghoul. "Ya, no problem." He shrugged. Michi was a big ghoul, he wasn't about to tell her that she couldn't run off and visit with her other friends. Alex had Mort to hang with, after all, and they were on the hunt for some edible food. "Ah, I met her outside one day, after school. She was looking for somebody to show her around campus a little..though it mostly just turned into her talking about and planning parties." He scratched his head a bit, while answering Morts question "C'mon, theres gotta be something more edible around here." He shambled towards another booth that had appetizing smells emitting from it. He picked up a skewer of meat from a tray, poking at it. It was definitely cooked on the outside, but still seemed soft, so was possibly still rare on the inside. He picked off a cube, and bit into it, filling his mouth with the wonderful coppery taste of rare meat. His eyes landed on a red envelope sitting on the table near them and he reached over to pick it up, but it felt fairly light. Empty, he thought, flipping it back down on the table.
