"Well yeah, the obvious trap was obvious. But it got you to stop, no?" A small brow quirk of amusement. "So maybe it worked after all~ It was a joke, Green Stripes, lighten up a bit," he told her with a wink, pulling his head out of the bushes now that his neck was beginning to ache from the position. He rolled his head about, several pops sounding as a result. "D'you really think there was really a pack around here full of contract killers? It's almost wishful thinking."

Did his ploy work? She had not thought of it in that light. However, she had the sense that if she pursued that line of thought, she would only go in circles. Best leave it be. As for the pack...
Wishful? She did not see how it could be wishful. Who would wish for that? Then again, perhaps it is something someone would wish for. A whole pack of wolves dedicated to helping people. Punishing those who deserved it. Had Uncle known about this pack? Had it really existed? Did it still? Perhaps this called for some more investigation on her part. Perhaps they could show her where there were others in need of help, if they were still around.
"I think it would not be a bad thing," she said at last. "If this pack did exist."

"Oh?" Another joint popped in place before Youko was given a curious look, not seeming to have noted his odd wording before. "From what I remember, they weren't necessarily good guys, you know. They just took payment from whoever needed a dirty job done: not all needed an assassination, mind you, but they killed without mercy for material goods. Their lands remained a secret, their culture as mysterious as a cult. Would the world really benefit?"

Anyone who knew Youko well enough could have told Raz that debating morals with the female was pointless, since hers were ambiguous at best. However, the female in question was hardly aware of that fact. She did not bother to think about it. To her, some needed to be killed or punished. She might not accept payment for the deeds she did, but she still helped others with their problems...often ending in a fatality or three. So, perhaps these wolves were more like Poine, but in Youko's mind, they still helped people who needed it, so they could not be all bad.
"They help people," she said with a shrug. "Some need to suffer for their deeds."

For a moment Raz was quiet, observing her with an indistinguishable look in those clear blue eyes. Then without warning his maw spread into a toothy, maybe even cocky, grin. "I hear you," he agreed. "Kinda wish I'd seen them myself instead of just hear stories. Who knows, maybe you or I'll find them some day, if they really exist."
Or they'll stay underground like their dens and remain ghosts. Either way, Raz would find some flavor of bitterness to chew on, be it bittersweet or simply bitter.
Another quick yawn. "I should get back, I've got a friend who needs some food and tending to. She hasn't heard these stories yet, I think, so maybe I'll tell them over some warm rabbit . . ."

They say that curiosity killed the cat. It was lucky, then, that Youko was a wolf. Once more, her shyness was overruled...not that is seemed to be holding much sway today, anyway. She had been most forward with this wolf. More so than with anyone in a long time. Of course, being forward did not mean she had been open, but that was besides the point. She was curious and she had to take a chance on that curiosity.
"May I...do you mind if I join you? Just for the stories. I can hunt my own rabbit." If he said no, she would go away. She would hate to pester him. It was just something that she wanted very much to learn about.

"Hmm?" Another one? Oh Raz, your charm was just so magnetic~ And yet while he stroked his own ego, the male was a bit hesitant to take on another wolf . . . But Youko had said she was capable of hunting for herself, which was a relief since he didn't know if he could provide for two other wolves; he was an adult, not an experienced adult. "Eh, why not. I'd be an idiot to say no for more pretty company~" he eventually answered, grinning as he turned to presumably lead her to their current den. "Though I don't know where we're going, if you're okay with that."

Youko wondered for a moment what he meant, but then she realized that he thought she meant to stay for more than a night or two. Why else would he not know where they were going?
"I will only stay for the stories," she assured him, not at all aware that she could be wounding his male ego. "Then I will leave."
She had nothing against friends, to be sure, but Uncle did not approve of them, so she tried to refrain from acquiring any. Besides, she doubted that this strange male needed her help, and what good was she if she was not helping anyone? No. Better to have purpose than simply exist. She would learn, then maybe she would seek out these assassins.

"Sure, whatever you want," Raz amended easily, still floating on his stroked ego. His pack had left him; what was one stranger in comparison? Or two even, if Ransom decided to leave? No, he would face each day as they came for now, and at the moment he called himself lucky to be sandwiched between two females~
