"Most don't," Phaedra said, as if that were in any way reassuring. She lightly pressed her knees into Vehkal's sides, and the kirin sped up just a little bit more...
...
Vehkal was fast, but even so it took an hour and a half before the Pantheon and its surrounding villages and camps appeared on the horizon. "Nearly there," she called back to Ifan. "Do you want to try one of the outlying areas or go straight to the heart?" As she spoke, she reached out with her power, subtly teasing at the edges of his desire. Surely he wanted to come to the Pantheon, yes? to be played with more, yes?
((If you'd rather not timeskip forward to the Pantheon, let me know and I'll change it!))

(( Totally fine heart , was thinking the same))
Ifan thought about the question, for one moment he thought he might say the outlying areas but something tipped his mind the other way. Afterall the heart must be far more interesting and have far more than the outskirts. That would be where people would go surely? Where the best markets would be. "The heart." he replied, sure that the best choice.

"Bold words," Phaedra said, hiding her smile in Vehkal's mane. "And well spoken. Home, Vehkal," she repeated, and the kirin shifted trajectory just slightly. They were flying past people now, and other traffic on the road, leaving startled shouts and the occasional collision in their wake.
At last, the kirin set her hooves into the rich loam around the Pantheon, slowing down to a trot before finally coming to a halt. Phaedra slid off, feeling the faint twang of overused muscles, though the worst of it was masked under her own delight. She'd feel it tomorrow - but not as badly as Ifan would. "So. Here we are. The heart - the Pantheon, as some call it." She gestured at the buildings around them, small flowing streams and teahouses set around the larger structures. "Where the 'gods' dwell. Is it as you'd hoped, bold artisan?"

Ifan was rather glad when they came to a halt. It had been an exciting ride but the effort to not end his life smeared across some road somewhere had been getting too much. He slid off the kirin too, wincing a little as he tried to move his legs.
The grounds in which they were stood were indeed beautiful. More lush and peaceful than anything they had in his home town. He took a moment to absorb the sights before turning his green eyes back to his rescuer. "It's true then?" He asked. "There are gods?" He certainly could not think of any other explanation for such a place. "I was always taught there was only one god. 'gods' seems like blasphemy."

"True enough, yes." Phaedra smiled at him. "Whoever said there was only one must be very bad at counting, alas. Perhaps they should consult the divine gods of Numbers who dwell within. That would fix their calculations in short order." She watched Ifan carefully. "So, then. You are here. What will you do now? Carry your proposals to the divine door-to-door?"

Ifan studied her back and thought about that for a moment. Gods. Goddesses. Suddenly something finally clicked into place. "Are you a goddess?" he asked, the whole idea seemed insane, though she didn't look like anyone else he had ever seen, that creature she rode and there was just something about her. Something powerful.
"I'm not carrying proposals anywhere." He smiled. "I'm just going to take a look around, head out into the town probably, see what they're selling. Investigate resources. reconnaissance."

Phaedra's smile widened. "Good, good. You do use that fine mind of yours. I am Greed, boy... and I don't allow many mortals to hold me so tightly in their arms for so long."

"Greed?" Well, he hadn't quite expected that. Not that he really know what to expect. Though now she mentioned it she did look the part. Greed was certainly an influence that touched them all. He wouldn't admit out loud that it was his reason for being in the pantheon in the fist place but it was certainly a motivation. "I am honoured" He wasn't quite sure if it was a good thing to hold Greed in your arms. "And thank you for your help. I suppose I am in your debt now?" That probably wasn't a good thing either.

"Oh... a little bit. I'll find you again, Ifan." Her smile was pleasant, but there was an amused edge to her voice - she had him, and he knew it, and that was fun. "And I'm sure you will find exactly what you're looking for."

"I'm sure you will." he looked up at her and smiled. She was a goddess afterall. "Um, I don't suppose you'd know anyone who might be able to help with my car. Or a place I could spend the night?"

"There are plenty of mortals about who are handy with machinery. Asking in the outlying camps should find you an answer. Those allied with... good deities tend to offer things freely. You can find a roof in much the same way. Or stay in one of the teahouses. People do that, from time to time." She flipped one hand dismissively in the direction of the nearest pavilion, then grinned.
"Alternatively, find a god who likes guests. Not me, dear boy; not yet. Perhaps later."

"Thanks." He said out of politeness. She hadn't been all that helpful, but then what had he really expected. She had helped him enough by bringing him to what he assumed was safety. He had been lucky to get that much from a god he supposed, they must have much better things to do with their time. "Well, I suppose I should get exploring then. Thanks once again for the ride."

"We will meet again." She spoke with a certainty that belied the amused light in her eyes. Prickly creature, he was. Interesting. "Fare well, Ifan."
