"Mmmhmm. Those things take form in things that we fear. One of them told me that themself." Cass's eye twitched for those who were able to see it as she settled against Aliester. "Hey, been a while. Glad to see you're holding up." He was her newbie. She sort of felt..responsibility for him, in a way. It was strange.

"Man..did they really not tell you any of that? s**t, we at least got a basic rundown about stuff like weapon charges and FEAR...and Insanity.." she paused, "That's what the fog is, if you don't know that either. Insanity. Particles of FEAR that cause adverse reactions in those abominations." she explained quickly.

"And don't worry, there are nicer movies around here. I just happen to have..a lot of them..hostage..." she laughed, then coughed again, pausing as she looked to Wilson, "I'm fine. Getting beaten up so badly has made my lungs hurt a lot..so I cough a lot..." It was hard to keep being so damn up about everything when her body was asking WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST DIE, IT WOULD HURT LESS. Nicodemus soothed over that part of her brain for her.

She appreciated it, too.

"As for..feeling fear again...." She bit her lower lip. "I've seen the shadows and the like since I was really little. I pointed it out when I was about five and well..." Cass scratched the back of her neck. "I...kind of became a TV ghost-sensing psychic that travelled around a lot. I spent a long time being thrust into haunted places.. y'know..they wanted me to find ghosts. Even without the ghosts a lot of those places were grade A terrifying."

"So that's my bit. Ex D-list celebrity with an addiction to horror films."

He shrugged at Aleister, then came another wince. “You’ll have to ask Cass about that, and no worries. Horror movies aren’t exactly my cup of tea either.” Truthfully, Wilson preferred action or comedy movies. He didn’t like to scare himself for the sake of scaring, so he tended to gravitate toward the movies with mind-blowing special effects or humorous lines that sent him into pealing fits of laughter. After a childhood filled with nightmares, he found it preferable to keep smiling and looking on the bright side.

Wilson shook his head at Cass. “I don’t think it’s the facility’s style—to dump information on us. It looks like we have to figure things out on our own.” Not exactly his favorite method of learning, but it was better than being left in the dark forever. He nodded gratefully to the mist trainee. “Thanks for that tidbit, though. I’ll file it away in my brain for later.” Grinning, he managed to reach up and tap his forehead. He ignored the tiny annoying pangs resulting from it.

“Psychic, huh?” He mused over the background information. “Sounds…” Wilson’s voice drifted off as she continued to describe her experiences. “…not very pleasant, but certainly unusual and interesting to think about.” he finished. “My history is much more plain to explain. I started seeing them around that age too.” Feeling a bit cold, he crossed his arms. “Parents never believed me though, so after a few years I convinced myself they weren’t real.” A sheepish smile. “Well, you can obviously see how well that turned out.”

"I really think it is odd they didn't tell you guys anything. We at least got brief seminars and the like. Training sessions, the like.... So I guess if you ever want to know anything, you can ask one of us older trainees. We may know a few things that might help." She rotated her shoulders back, her muscles groaning in protest, just like the rest of her body seemed to.

"For now, all you can really do is read a lot of books from the library and try to keep your head above the water." Cass smiled, "But..we kinda look out for each other." she slowly flexed her fingers, a motion that brought visible pain to her face as she thought over their run in with Conquest.

While Caelius hadn't been looking out for them...Marcus had been looking out for her. She might have not had the energy to save herself if he hadn't been there.

"Honestly, I wish I could have had the chance to backpedal like that...and pretend to be normal. I mean, I guess it might not have been as glamorous as ghost hunting, but...I dunno. It has made me like this place a lot more than I think a lot of people do.

Salvation, freedom. That sort of stuff."

Tedan stared at Cass for a minute or two, trying to wrap his mind around the concept of someone taking a little kid who said they saw scary things and probably more or less forcing them into being on TV and going into haunted houses or whatever. I mean, sure, he'd watched some of those kinds of shows, but the ones he had seen all had teams of adults with equipment and such. Not kids.

This day was just getting more and more messed up.

"I got the whole therapy route myself," he muttered, eyes lidding for a moment. "Right before I started middle school. Wasn't long til I figured out what those idiots wanted to hear and started saying it so I could quit going." Part of the pretending he was 'okay' had been embracing things like horror movies and such, so that no one would suspect. Tedan had hated it at first, but now well ... he was sort of used to them. Even liked quite a few of the movies he'd seen both in theaters and out - sitting around with various friends of his.

"Aleister" The blonde death hunter replied when Tedan introduced himself, "I don't remember, there's a lot of us as far as who woke up with who. So... it's possible we ended up not formally meeting outside of the whole waking up thing."

He listened as Cass spoke, about the whole fear thing. "If they did tell us anything they stuck it in after H shot what's her face in the head. When we were all too shocked to pay attention." He watched as Cass settled against him with little protest. "I just wish I could use my fingers again. It's going to be hell if I have to fight using Pooka when I don't have working fingers."

He frowned softly when the others mentioned shadows, "Parents thought I was crazy. Anytime I started they'd send me off to some shrink." He muttered almost like it was to himself, pausing after a thought and a bit louder, "After this one do you think we could watch something a little less... nightmareish?"

“Maybe it varies from group to group?” suggested Wilson. “I don’t see why it would, but I guess each batch of trainees has a certain attitude.” He paused so he could mull over his own words, which reminded him a lot of his high school days where the different graduating classes held different general dispositions. “Reading books?” The trainee hardly sounded pleased with the advice, but he had seen it coming a mile away—particularly so due to his assignment to the death division. Not reading up on books sounded like slacking to him.

“Pretending is still pretending, but yeah, I can see what you’re getting at.” His eyes flickered toward the screen to continue distractedly watching the movie. “It was nice to be ‘normal,’ but there was always something poking in the back of my mind. Fortunately my parents never sent me to a shrink. Too embarrassing, I suppose.” Wilson sank even lower into his seat as he refused to tear his gaze away from the television screen. “Uh, yeah. Something happier after this would be nice.”

"I have a bright happy cartoon that was dubbed like...twenty years ago and is questionable in quality but ever so adorable if you want that, then." Cass suggested, clearly implying the ever so adorable 'Unico' that Marcus had suffered through a couple of times.

Suffered out of love. And oh, had it gone from infatuation to flat out love with her overnight. Not even that, really. A manner of seconds. That feeling of his body pulling hers close as he spoke weakly 'I won't let you die', willing himself out of that place. Just..s**t...the memory of it sent her heart racing in a very special way.

"But yeah... This.." she stared at the TV. Twenty minutes in and all they'd gotten was a kind-of-not-very-unsettling vat of green liquid dripping up towards the ceiling like it had a mind of its own...and a lot of physics. And an amazing cup of coffee segue that had gone immediately into THEY HAD SEX. She wondered what kind of coffee was that good.

"Guess we need to take the break sometime...."

Still, she looked to Wilson when he seemed unhappy about needing to read - "Could be worse. You could be a mist." she shrugged. Jack of all trades, master to none. Cass had to do more than read - she did everything, which made it all the more crippling to have broken fingers and cracked bones.

Still..

"It's interesting to see how similar some of the pre-island patterns are..and how different some of them can be too. It's kind of like there's a formula or something."

Mr. Sunshine came dragging down the hall. His normally impeccably braided hair was not even braided but in a high ponytail, messily wrapped up in a way that you couldn't even tell really what he'd done with it at all. There were pieces of white hair sticking out all over the place.

Bix looked tired and there was a large red mark on one cheek that indicated he'd been asleep moments before. The sound of socializing drew the hunter from his bed. He was pulling his blanket, clutching his pillow and wearing some 'WoW Horde' pj pants and a tank top. His pale skin was marked with vivid bruises and there was a smattering mishmash of bandages and cartoony bandaids. The only positive was that he'd seemed to pack on some nice shoulder muscle definition in his months of being a hunter.

"Movies?" He grumbled and blinked. "Hey guys.. Damn Cass, every time I see you it's a sausage party." She'd been right about not having many female friends.

The albino hunter dropped into the pillow pile and thought nothing of dropping right next to Cass, stuffing his head into a his blanket, and curling into her side. To the other guys it probably looked like he was moving in on Marcus's girl, but Cass was more like his sister and so he could care less how it 'looked'.

"Everything huuuuuuuuuuuuuuurtsss." He may be close to the oldest in the room but he was whining like a baby.

When he slouched into the common room at the end of the hallway, Gale hadn't expected anyone to be there. Lost in his own world and feeling as though his room were too claustrophobic, he had decided to take a few hours to himself and maybe watch one of the documentaries that Marcus had given him for Christmas by using the television in the dormitory building.

Except apparently when he shuffled in wearing his pajamas and a blanket wrapped haphazardly around his shoulders, a bowl of ice cream in his hand, Gale found the common room...occupied.

With lots of people.

He stopped in the doorway abruptly and stared, his face flushing a slight shade of red that contrasted starkly with the bright white of the bandage wrapped around his forehead.

"Oh."

Cass immediately snuggled right up against Bix when he settled next to her, not helping in that 'moving on Marcus's girl' impression anybody may have had, but like Bix, it was a sibling-like relationship. He was a fabulous big-brother in her head, and she was all about the needed physical contact on her part.

It reinforced in her mind that everybody was still alive.

"Yeah, I guess I just attract the company of guys." she laughed, moving to brush some hair from Bix's face before sighing. "I'm glad you're alright..." she said, then paused, turning away to cough again, making a face at the small red flecks that were left on the bandaging of her hand. Well then. She did hope that would stop soon. It would have gone better if she had a dehumidifer, but really the blood was from rough coughing, nothing more.

With that done, she began to rub her hand gently on the older sun hunter's back, looking up when Gale entered the room and offering him a wave with her other hand.

"Hullo, Gale." she greeted, "Come join us...." she offerred. "Plenty of room."

There was one sausage that seemed to show up wherever Cass did. It's name? Marcus Hasan. His eye was still shut, black eye patch making him look more the role of pirate than hunter. He hair was tied back and a crutch was under one arm. His right foot had taken a hell of a beating, and it didn't help that his sword arm was now his support. So ********. His left hard was wrapped more than a damn present and it hurt with any motion at all. Not to mention his body was a mess of tiny cuts from rocks that had dug into him.

He was in short, wanting to lay down and do nothing. Cass he hadn't any clue where she'd gone but following the sounds frown down the hall he found her, and a good number of other trainees, cuddling up for a movie. One of who was cuddling with Cass directly. Dis was telling him to just leave it, that he was to battered to start a fight over something as simple as couch cuddles. And... the former vampire was right. Not worth it. "Hey guys." Smiling weakly at Gale, Wilson, Tedan and Aleister (the last two he didn't really know), Marcus looked at his girl and..him together. Fine. He wouldn't pitch a fit but.

"Scoot." Tapping on Bix the moon trainee sat next to the sun, going so far to lean on him as well. "What movie is this?" Marcus didn't seem to be bother by the fact he was leaning on Bix of all people, but in as much pain as he was.. too tired to care.

Gale, feeling slightly ridiculous, looked at the growing pile of people cuddling on the couch - namely Cass, Bix, and now Marcus - and didn't move from where he stood. The bowl of ice cream he held in his hand was cold against his skin, beginning to melt, and Gale tugged the blanket on his shoulders further around in a self-conscious gesture.

"No, that's...that's all right," he said hesitantly, taking an automatic step back. Already he wished he'd just stayed in his room.

"I was just...that is, I was going to watch something, but I see it's already taken, so I'll just...er..."

Just what? said a nagging little voice in his head that didn't belong to Jinhai, but more of that irritating conscious that always pushed him to do things that made him uncomfortable. It's not like you have anything else to do. Stay and make friends.

Don't wanna.

<< What's the matter now? >> said another voice, and this time it really was Jinhai, but Gale just ignored him, instead taking another step back -

- except since he wasn't looking where he was going he managed to - very gracefully - trip over the hem of his blanket and send himself staggering backwards and landing pathetically against the wall. Thankfully the bowl - and the ice cream - remained in tact.

Gale's pride, however...

"I'll just...sit over here," he muttered, now thoroughly embarrassed with himself, and moved to perch on the edge of a nearby chair, keeping his eyes on the screen of a movie he had never seen before, all the while slowly eating his dessert.

"Oh, Babe...." Cass seemed to just turn into a puddle of concern when Marcus hobbled into the room, her smile a very worn, almost stressed looking one at the sight of him. Nightmares. She'd had so many nightmares involving him that she could barely even handle how bad the reality of it was - even if it was light in comparison. She'd probably woken him up dozens of times in the night - sudden jerks awake, tears, her sudden checks to make sure he had a pulse, to know he was breathing.

It was bonding. Twisted bonding.

However, the look on her face said everything - Please get better. Please, please, please, please. I can't take this. She didn't even know what was going on underneath that eyepatch - part of her wondered if he...... no. She wasn't going to think about it. She'd love him either way, but...she didn't want to think about it.

"It's 'Prince of Darkness'." She finally answered, moving her hand from Bix's back to brush against Marcus's cheek for a moment before she put it back on the albino's shoulder.

Still, Cass looked to Gale again after a moment - "Oh? Well..if you still want to watch it after this is over, as long as it isn't another horror film I'm sure we'd be up for watching it with you. The general vote has been something less....horror based... after this. It'll be fun." she suggested, stretching her legs out, and then wincing as one of them protested completely. It didn't like moving.

Aleister was on the other side of Cass only half watching the movie, Puca on the other hand seemed completely thrilled with the choice of movies. So it didn't help when he kept on about the movie in the Blonde hunter's head.

He saw Bix come in and then curl against Cass whining about hurting, and then Gale came in; and Marcus who he didn't really know. "Hi" Aleister greeted glad for the distraction from the TV. Sex scenes and other general creepies wasn't his style despite what Puca kept on about Aleister thought he'd caught the word mold.

He watched as Marcus leaned on Bix and Gale ended up sitting down with ice cream. He choose to take a minute to introduce himself to Marcus since he was one of the few hunters he hadn't really met, "I don't think we've had the pleasure to really meet, I'm Aleister."

"Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaale." Bix groaned and waved an arm at Gale like a spaghetti noodle. When Marcus nosed himself into the pile, Bix just slid to the side. He made sure to make a face when Marcus leaned against him but Marcus wasn't looking.... so it was okay!

"Gaaaaale.." Bix groaned again. He didn't mock or heckle or joke with him about being embarrassed. Bix crawled across the mass of pillows like some sort of albino zombie. He pawed at Gale's pajama pantleg and then just propped all his pillows up around Gale's legs and leaned against him.

Bix was being a typical guy: when sick or injured be as whiny and pathetic as possible.
